Guangzhou is the third largest city in China and southern China's largest city. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 12.78 million. Some estimates place the population of the entire Pearl River Delta Mega City built up area as high as 40 million including Shenzhen (10.36 million), Dongguan (8.22 million) and most parts of Foshan (7.19 million), Jiangmen (4.45 million), Zhongshan (3.12 million) and a small part of Huizhou adjoining Dongguan and Shenzhen, with an area of about 20,000 square kilometres (7,700 sq mi) (about the size of US state of New Jersey). In 2008 Guangzhou was identified as a Beta World City by the global city index produced by GaWC.

Taipei is the glittering capital of Taiwan, and one of the hottest travel destinations in all of Asia. When you visit this thriving city, you’ll find collections of stunning futuristic buildings interspersed with ancient Chinese temples and traditions.
One of these temples, Longshan, is located in Wanhua, the city’s oldest neighborhood. This is where you come to find good fortune, good health, and spiritual advice of all sorts. Once you’ve attained the guidance and wisdom you may not have realized you sought, head to 228 Peace Park, where you will find the memorial to the 1949 uprisings that eventually led to Taiwan’s independence.
Don’t worry about getting around the city; the Taipei Rapid Transit System, or MRT, will take you just about anywhere you need to go. Hop on it to pay a visit to the National Palace Museum, where you’ll find a giant collection of Chinese art and artifacts. There’s over half a million pieces related to ancient Chinese royalty here, and you can spend days exploring them all.
To plan out your next move, make your way to Taipei 101. This is one of the world’s tallest buildings, and you can soar to the top for a breathtaking view of the city and pick out the next place you’ll visit. Do you see Elephant Mountain? It’s not far from the downtown area, and it’s a short climb to the top for another look at Taipei. Keep up with the nature theme and make your stop the Taipei Zoo, where you’ll meet the largest menagerie of animals in Asia.
Cap off a day of Taipei sightseeing and adventure at Shilin Night Market, where you can join the locals in finding that next great meal or landing a spectacular bargain.

Maybe you want to move to China, or you're just looking for a change in your life. You'd like to live somewhere totally different from where you are at the moment, and maybe somewhere like Guangzhou seems appealing to you?
What is Guangzhou like? As a foreigner, you'll have a somewhat different experience of Guangzhou than the average Chinese, but you can still soak in the sun, see the scenery, eat all kinds of crazy and wonderful Cantonese food, and even more!
Guangzhou's full of fun stuff to do. There's the "Up-Down Nine" Road (Shangxiajiu Lu), Beijing Road, Yuexiu Park, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, a bajillion kinds of street foods and little alleyways to explore, and more!
Guangzhou's a bustling, open-minded, and cool city to visit - I can only imagine living here would be that much more interesting!

Guangzhou, also known as Canton, is fast-developing as a premiere hub for culture, education, economy and science in Southern China. It is tagged as the 'South Gate of China' because of its strategic location near the South China Sea, Hong Kong, and Macau.
The Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Train (KTT) is an inter-city railway service that journeys between Hong Kong and Guangzhou. The operation is managed by the MTR Corporation of Hong Kong and the Ministry of Railways of the People's Republic of China.
In addition to KTT railway service, tourists can ride the Ferry Bus Line to explore the magnificent Pearl River. Travelling in the city is very easy with several options such as the metro, bus, and taxi. Commuters and tourists can also travel from Canton Tower to Wanshengwei through the Guangzhou Young Tram.

Guangzhou (Chinese: 广州; Mandarin pronunciation: [kwɑ̀ŋʈʂóʊ̯]), known historically as Canton or Kwangchow,[4] is the capital and largest city of the Guangdong province in the People's Republic of China. Located in southern China on the Pearl River, about 120 km (75 mi) north-northwest of Hong Kong, Guangzhou is a key national transportation hub and trading port.[5] One of the five National Central Cities,[6] it holds sub-provincial administrative status.
Guangzhou is the third largest city in China and southern China's largest city. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 12.78 million.[7] Some estimates place the population of the entire Pearl River Delta Mega City built up area as high as 40 million including Shenzhen (10.36 million), Dongguan (8.22 million) and most parts of Foshan (7.19 million), Jiangmen (4.45 million), Zhongshan (3.12 million) and a small part of Huizhou adjoining Dongguan and Shenzhen, with an area of about 20,000 square kilometres (7,700 sq mi) (about the size of US state of New Jersey). In 2008 Guangzhou was identified as a Beta World City by the global city index produced by GaWC.[8]

What will you do in Taipei?
Visit our Taipei travel guide page for more information or to plan your next vacation!
