North Island, rain or showers for most places, clearing. South Island, few showers in the west and far south, turning to rain about Fiordland. Fine with high cloud in the east.
Sunday
North Island, fine in the east. Drizzle developing from Waikato to Taranaki and across to Bay of Plenty, also Horowhenua Kapiti Coast and Wellington. Gale westerlies, possibly severe gale in the south. South Island, rain with heavy falls spreading northwards in the west. Occasional rain in the south, with snow lowering to 600 metres at night. Gale or possibly severe gale westerlies in exposed places in the east. A few showers and strong, possibly squally southerlies spreading northwards in the east later.
Monday
Scattered showers, clearing south of Auckland. Strong or gale westerlies in the south.
Chatham Islands
Showers clearing Saturday and southwesterlies turning northwest. Rain developing and northwesterlies strengthening Sunday. Rain clearing Monday with gale southwest change.
