After graduating from West point in 1915, "Ike" didn't see combat in World War I, though he gained valuable experience in training & command in the new Tank Corps. Between the Wars, his intellect and organizational skills led to a series of commands & promotions, eventually to War Plans under Chief of Staff General George C. Marshall, who knew a fine officer when he saw one. On June 23, 1942, he was made Commanding General, European Theater of Operations. In November 1942, he was also appointed Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Force of the North African Theater of Operations and In February 1943, his authority was extended as commander of AFHQ to include the British Eighth Army, During the successful campaign, he gained invaluable experience in strategy and tactics as well as managing a diverse group of often contentious subordinates. In December 1943 Ike was made Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. He resumed command of ETOUSA and the following month was made the Supreme Allied Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) He was charged with planning and carrying out the Normandy Invasion in June 1944, the liberation of Western Europe and the invasion of Germany. In December 20, 1944, he was promoted to General of the Army, equivalent to the rank of Field Marshal. In addition to strategic planning & command Ike did a remarkable job of managing the fractious coalition of nations and personalities that made up the Allied Forces in Europe, one of his greatest achievements. After the War, Eisenhower was made Military Governor of the U.S. Occupation Zone in Germany. In November 1945 he replaced Marshall as Chief of Staff of the Army. In 1948, Eisenhower became President of Columbia University In 1952 Ike returned to service as Supreme Commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). In 1952 he successfully ran for the Office of President of the United States, Zeno Zeno's Warbird Videos http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com Zeno's Flight Shop DVD Store – Worlds Largest Collection of WW2 Videos http://www.zenosflightshop.com

Surviving copies of this rousing Academy Award winning Irving Berlin musical are dark with color shifts, so I did what I could restore it to its original Technicolor glory using digital technology. A great example of the kind of the buoyant Hollywood musical shown at home & to troops around the World in the midst of World War 2. Directed by Michael Curtiz, it features an all star musical cast headed by George Murphy, aided by Ronald Reagan, with a long list of memorable tunes that will have you singing them after it's over. Don't miss our P-39 DVD for more Airacobra action & a P-39 pilot's manual http://bit.ly/JnWnwf The P-39 was one of the U.S,Army Air Corps front line fighters when world War 2 broke out. In the Pacific, it could be useful in the hands of a pilot who new it's strengths - high dive speeds & fire power and its limitations – never dogfight a Japanese fighter! But as soon as more advanced aircraft like the P-38 & P-47 became widely available, it was quickly pulled from the front line. On the other hand, the P-39 was one of the Soviet Air Force's favorite US. Imports. The Airacobra was an outstanding tank buster on the Eastern Front. It's mid engine and 37mm canon were virtually unique. The '39 was widely used as a trainer in the US and had a reputation for weeding out poor pilots – permanently. This film covers all aspects of flying the P-39, including takeoffs, landing,s aerobatics like rolls and loops, and how to control spins & stalls. The First US B-17 bombing mission over Europe 1942 - Restored Get this video & six more on our U.S. Bombers Go to War in World War 2 DVD. http://bit.ly/1xzMljA “Mission Accomplished” tells the story of the first American B-17 bombing mission over Europe, On August 17, 1942 eighteen B-17Es from the 97th Heavy Bombardment Group, Eighth Bomber Command (later Eighth Air Force) from Grafton Underwood, performed the first daylight raid over Northern Europe by US heavy bombers. Escorted by RAF Spit Vs & IXs, 6 bombers ran a diversion along the French coast, while 12 more Fortresses attacked the primary target., the important rail yards at Sotteville, France, near Rouen. This mission was a crucial first step in establishing the efficacy of American daylight precision bombing doctrine. Success of the raid was vital so that VIII Bomber Command CO Gen Ira C. Eaker went along for the ride in B-17E "Yankee Doodle. Though small in scale, the raid was a success, with precision hits on important rail assets, with only two Fortresses sustaining minor damage. Lucky for us, combat cameramen recorded this historic action from briefing through "bombs away!" He first saw action during the Pancho Villa Expedition in Mexico in 1916, the first US military action using motor vehicles. He joined the new US Tank Corps of the AEF in World War I. He commanded the U.S. tank school in France before being wounded in action. Between the wars, Patton was a key figure in developing the principles of armored warfare. Rising through the ranks, he commanded the U.S. 2nd Armored Division at the U.S. entry into World War II. Under Eisenhower, Patton helped plan the invasion of French North Africa in Operation Torch in the summer of 1942, commanding the Western Task Force of 33,000 men in 100 ships in the Casablanca landings. In the North African Campaign, he was an effective commander, rapidly revitalizing the demoralized 2nd Corps. He commanded the Seventh Army during the Invasion of Sicily, the first allied commander to reach Messina. He controversially slapped two shell-shocked soldiers and was temporarily removed from field command for other duties including “Operation Fortitude” the disinformation campaign before D-Day. Patton commanded the Third Army after the invasion which he led in a lightning armored strike across France. After taking the fortress city of Metz, his 3rd Army pivoted north to relieve Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge and he then advanced his army deep into Germany & Czechoslovakia by the end of the war. Patton then became the military governor of Bavaria, and later commanded the Fifteenth Army. He died following an automobile accident on December 21, 1945. The first film shows the Bell Aircraft P-39 assembly line in Niagara Falls, New York. Then you'll see P-39s taking target practice – it was often used as an advanced trainer for fighter pilots before they were assigned to their front line units, Finally, you see Airacobras and P-63 King Cobras flown across the Bering Strait under Lend Lease to Russia. Unlike the US Army Air Force, these aircraft were prized by the Soviets, who used them for ground attack & tank busting. “Go for Broke!” stars Van Johnson along with actual veterans of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. The film tells the true story of the 442nd RCT, composed of Nisei soldiers, second-generation Americans born to Japanese-American parents, from training through combat. Fighting in Europe in World War II, they were the most highly decorated unit for their size & length of service in the history of the US Army, with one of the highest casualty rates. And they did it all while their families were unjustly interned in detention camps back in the USA. Arriving in Vietnam in in 1966, operating out of Xuan Loc, East of Saigon in III Corps, they were responsible for numerous firsts that you'll see used in combat, including developing armored vehicles for local conditions like the “ACAV” Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle, a an essential upgrade of the M133 APC with much better armor, additional weaponry & steel shields to protect gunners. (ACAVs were soon adopted throughout Vietnam.) The 11th were also the first to operate the Army's innovative new M551 Sheridan AR/AAV (Armored Reconnaissance/Airborne Assault Vehicle) light tank. The KPA killed POWs at the battles for Hill 312, Hill 303, the Pusan Perimeter, and Daejeon—discovered during early after-battle mop-up actions by the UN forces. Later, a US Congress war crimes investigation, the United States Senate Subcommittee on Korean War Atrocities of the Permanent Subcommittee of the Investigations of the Committee on Government Operations reported that "... two-thirds of all American prisoners of war in Korea died as a result of war crimes." Although the Chinese rarely executed prisoners like their Korean counterparts, mass starvation and diseases swept through the Chinese run POW camps during the winter of 1950--51. About 43 percent of all US POWs died during this period. The Chinese defended their actions by stating that all Chinese soldiers during this period were suffering mass starvation and diseases due to the lack of competent logistics system. The UN POWs, however, disputed the claim by pointing out that most of the Chinese camps were located near the easily supplied Sino-Korean border, and that starvation was used to force the prisoners to accept the communism indoctrinations programs, which were running in full swing after the starvation was over. The North Korean Government reported some 70,000 ROK Army POWs; 8,000 were repatriated. South Korea repatriated 76,000 Korean People's Army POWs. Besides the 12,000 UN Command forces POWs dead in captivity, the KPA might have press-ganged some 50,000 ROK POWs into the North Korean military. Per the South Korean Ministry of Defense, there remained some 560 Korean POWs detained in North Korea in 2008; from 1994 until 2009, some 79 ROK POWs escaped the North. The North Korean Government denied having POWs from the Korean War, and, via the Korean Central News Agency, reported that the UN forces killed some 33,600 KPA POWs; that on 19 July 1951, in POW Camp No. 62, some 100 POWs were killed as machine-gunnery targets; that on 27 May 1952, in the 77th Camp, Koje Island (now in Geoje), the ROK Army incinerated with flamethrowers some 800 KPA POWs who rejected "voluntary repatriation" south, and instead demanded repatriation north. In December 1950, National Defense Corps was founded, the soldiers were 406,000 drafted citizens. In the winter of 1951, 50,000 to 90,000 South Korean National Defense Corps soldiers starved to death while marching southward under the Chinese offensive when their commanding officers embezzled funds earmarked for their food. This event is called the National Defense Corps Incident. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_War

The Korean War (Korean: 한국전쟁 or 조선전쟁, Hanja: 韓國戰爭 or 朝鮮戰爭; 25 June 1950 – 27 July 1953) was a war between the Republic of Korea (supported primarily by the United States of America, with contributions from allied nations under the aegis of the United Nations) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (supported by the People's Republic of China, with military and material aid from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). The Korean War was primarily the result of the political division of Korea by an agreement of the victorious Allies at the conclusion of the Pacific War at the end of World War II. The Korean Peninsula was ruled by the Empire of Japan from 1910 until the end of World War II. Following the surrender of the Empire of Japan in September 1945, American administrators divided the peninsula along the 38th parallel, with U.S. military forces occupying the southern half and Soviet military forces occupying the northern half.
Ronald Wilson Reagan ( /ˈrɒnəld ˈwɪlsən ˈreɪɡən/; February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004) was the 40th President of the United States, serving from 1981 to 1989. Prior to that, he was the 33rd Governor of California from 1967 to 1975 and a radio, film and television actor.
Born in Tampico, Illinois and raised in Dixon, Reagan was educated at Eureka College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and sociology. After his graduation, Reagan moved first to Iowa to work as a radio broadcaster and then in to Los Angeles in 1937 where he began a career as an actor, first in films and later television. Some of his most notable films include Knute Rockne, All American, Kings Row, and Bedtime for Bonzo. Reagan served as president of the Screen Actors Guild, and later as a spokesman for General Electric (GE); his start in politics occurred during his work for GE. Originally a member of the Democratic Party, his positions began shifting rightward in the late 1950s, and he switched to the Republican Party in 1962. After delivering a rousing speech in support of Barry Goldwater's presidential candidacy in 1964, he was persuaded to seek the California governorship, winning two years later and again in 1970. He was defeated in his run for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968 as well as 1976, but won both the nomination and general election in 1980, defeating incumbent Jimmy Carter.
