Prior to joining Gisha in April 2014, Eitan served for seven years as legal adviser to the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Israel and the Occupied Territories. Before that, he was a research officer and legal adviser at B’Tselem – The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. Eitan co-founded the London-based international NGO Videre Est Credere, which seeks to expose and uproot human rights violations through video documentation. In addition, he served as a legal consultant to the European Research Council-funded project ‘Forensic Architecture’ hosted by the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, and as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of International Humanitarian Legal Studies. He is currently a doctoral candidate at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Law where his research addresses the impact of new information and communication technologies on the application of law in situations of organized violence. Eitan holds an LLB from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an LLM in Public International Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science where he was a Chevening Scholar.

Received her B.A. in modern literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz and an M.A. in international affairs, with a focus on socioeconomic development, from the New School in New York. Prior to joining Gisha, Tania worked on advocacy and fundraising initiatives for not-for-profit organizations promoting human rights in Iran, children’s rights in Argentina, and the rights of refugees. Tania regularly travels to the United States and Europe, giving lectures and presentations about access in Gaza. She is relied upon as a source of information and analysis by diplomats, foreign offices and international organizations and has been published in Haaretz, the Forward, Ma’an, and +972 Magazine.

Received her B.A. degree in International Politics from City University London and completed her M.A. in Human Rights (with distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to joining Gisha, Noam worked as a Fundraising Manager at the New Israel Fund UK. Before that, she was an International Relations Associate at B’Tselem – the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories.

Completed a B.A in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in Political Science at Tel Aviv University. She worked previously for Mahapach-Taghir, Jewish-Palestinian, feminist organization, as a community coordinator and interned at the Hotline for Refugees and Migrants. A political activist, she also completed Transparency International’s training course on corruption and good governance. Rebecca is also participating in Naamat Tzaira, a women’s leadership course aiming to advance equality for women in Israeli society. She was also previously a counselor and coordinator at the LGBT youth-bar in Tel Aviv.

Completed her LL.B. (magna cum laude) at the Academic Center of Law and Business in Ramat Gan, with a focus on human rights. Received her M.A and PhD in Middle Eastern studies from Princeton University, and B.A (summa cum laude) in Arabic language and literature and English linguistics from Bar-Ilan University. Nomi has been lecturing since 1995 in the department of art history at Tel Aviv University, and previously clerked and worked as a lawyer at the office of Laski, Ben-Natan.

Maayan graduated with a degree in law and philosophy from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She received an MSc in human rights from the London School of Economics. Maayan undertook her legal internship at the Office of the National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator in the Justice Ministry, and also worked as a legal aid coordinator at the Center for Advancement of Youth in Jerusalem. She is active in New Profile – the movement for the demilitarization of Israeli society.

BA in Law and International Relations with honors from the Hebrew University. During her studies, she worked as a research assistant and as a teacher’s assistant for the course “International Law” and participated in several student competitions on the subject of humanitarian international law. She undertook her legal internship at the legal department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and later worked as a lawyer at the office of Shlomo Lacker, which specializes in human rights and administrative law. Michal is currently an LLM student as the Emile Zola Chair for Interdisciplinary Human Rights Dialogue at the College of Management.

Has worked as a journalist, TV personality, producer and director since 1996. Shadi spent six years producing and editing a range of Israeli educational television programs. From 2007 to 2009, he worked as a reporter and researcher for several foreign TV networks, covering Palestinian society and the regional conflict. He also directed and produced several film presentations for institutions of higher education and other organizations.

Omnia holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Middle Eastern and African history from Tel Aviv University. Since graduating, she has completed practical training at a mental health center and worked as a therapeutic mentor for at-risk youth in Jaffa. Whilst at university, she participated in numerous student activities, volunteered in social projects targeting young people, and served as a personal tutor and student mentor.

A veteran of more than 20 years in the Israeli press, Amir has worked as both a writer and editor, including serving as editor-in-chief of Tel Aviv Magazine from the Yediot Tikshoret group, deputy editor of the weekly Ha’Ir (Schocken Group) and managing editor of supplements in Maariv. He also edited television programs and various feature segments, as well as books and scripts. In the last few years, Amir founded and edited the literary quarterly Masmerim.

Formerly a magazine reporter for HaIr and other magazines, Shai mainly reported on a variety of socio-economic and political issues, including the challenges faced by Jaffa’s Palestinian residents and by migrant workers and refugees. She holds an M.A. in political communication from Tel Aviv University, and a B.A. (summa cum laude) in journalism from Westminster University, London. She has also worked as a teaching assistant for political science courses at Tel Aviv University and IDC Herzliya. Her thesis focused on increasing the possibility for entry by protest groups’ into Israel’s public discourse.

Received an M.A. in political science (Magna cum laude) from Tel Aviv University and B.A. in behavioral sciences from Ben Gurion University. Worked as coordinator of research and projects in the Participatory Social Marketing program of the Department of Communications at Tel Aviv University. Between the years 2000 – 2003, Moran worked as a producer, editor, and anchor of a daily current events program at “Radio Darom” (South). During her studies, she volunteered at the Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Tel Aviv and at MachsomWatch.

Holds a B.A. (with honors) in literature from Tel Aviv University and is currently completing an M.A. in literature. He has worked as a journalist and editor in both online and printed publications for a number of years. In his spare time, he is involved in cyber activism.

Studying for a Bachelor’s in philosophy and life sciences at the Open University. She is a feminist activist and completed her civil service at Gisha. Has written in the past for local newspapers HaIr (The City) and Hachi Tel Aviv (So Tel Aviv).

Completed a B.A. in media and political science at Haifa University and an M.A. in political communication at Tel Aviv University. Prior to joining Gisha, Iman worked for years in the local press in both Arabic and Hebrew, and in the written and broadcast media. In the past, she also served as communication coordinator for Kayan – an Arab feminist organization. Iman has experience in media work for foreign channels and as a reporter in satellite Arab stations, as well as many years of experience in conducting research for local and foreign press.

Received her B.A. in communications from the Max Stern Academic College of Emek Yizreel. A feminist and social activist, active in the Forum of Palestinian Feminists of Lod and Ramle, Aya also completed training at the Rape Crisis Center of the organization Women Against Violence and has volunteered there for over two years. In addition, she received training in group facilitation on the subject of sexuality at the Arab Forum for Sexuality, Education and Health.

Received a B.S.W in social work from the University of Haifa. Currently completing an M.A.in women’s and gender studies at Tel Aviv University. Aamer served for two years as an ambassador at the One Young World Forum in Switzerland representing issues specific to the Golan Heights region. He has worked with various organizations in Turkey, Holland, Denmark and Sweden in the fields of refugees, ethnicity, human rights and social media. Aamer currently volunteers at ASSIWAR – The Feminist Arab Movement in Support of Victims of Sexual Abuse.

Completed his studies in occupational therapy at Bethlehem University. Prior to joining Gisha, Mohammed worked for the Palestine Red Crescent Society’s ambulance services, as coordinator for the disaster management unit. He also worked with the United Nations Development Programme as Psychosocial Program Coordinator and with Mercy Corps as Emergency Program for Psychosocial Program for Children Coordinator.

Received his M.A. in political science from Bar Ilan University, where he specialized in comparative politics with an emphasis on theoretical approaches as they relate to new leftist political parties in Israel. Previously, David was a news editor on the IOL network for Haaretz. He also worked at the Steimatzky bookstore chain, where he managed projects for its computer information system. Recently, David worked for the City of Holon, starting as a manager for strategic planning and external relations, and afterwards as a manager for Internet projects and related information systems on behalf of Hachevra LeOtomatzia.

Sari Bashi is the co-founder of Gisha. Ms. Bashi served as executive director of Gisha from its foundation in 2005 until April 2014. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree (summa cum laude) from Yale University and a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. Ms. Bashi clerked on the Israeli Supreme Court for Justice Edmond Levi and is a licensed attorney in Israel and New York. She writes and lectures on international humanitarian law and Israeli policy toward Gaza. Ms. Bashi has received fellowships from Yale Law School and the Echoing Green Foundation for her work with Gisha and has taught international law at Tel Aviv University. She is also a marathon and ultra-marathon runner and is the only woman to have completed a 216 kilometer race in Israel. Prior to studying law, Ms. Bashi worked as a correspondent for the Associated Press in Jerusalem and conducted research on ethnic identity among Ethiopian immigrants to Israel as part of a Fulbright Scholarship.
