Plot
'Runaway' is a short Lebanese-American film about family, change, and letting go of your past. When Sabah and her family move to America to be closer to family, Sabah's oldest daughter, Cherine, begins to experience the freedoms that teenagers are allowed. But due to Sabah's strict parenting and disapproval of her daughter's actions, Cherine runs away. Now, with family gatherings always around the corner, Sabah must choose whether to accept her mistakes as a dictating parent and face her past, or continue her stubborn way of thinking and eventually lose her youngest daughter as well. With the help of her sister and brother-in-law, Layla and Karim, Sabah must change her ways for better or for worse. Ultimately, it's up to her.

She may never tell us, but that's her business.::Samya: She needs to realize we're not in the old country anymore. Here we have Spanish, Chinese, whatever they want.

Mas si me olvidas,
Si me acaricias,
the sea is fine alley napping the wolf is out to lunch
the sky is not the limit and I bake pies
I am a believer
Pouting through the triangle of Bermuda
swinging your mood and your fancy pants
trying to creep on through to cloud nine
I have half a mind to blow your mind
Stepping through a mine field of I told you so’s
Tip toeing in tap shoes with so and so
I ask you face to face and nose to nose
Are you a believer — I am a believer
call me pussy pussy little kitten
I bind my foot to shut your mouth
come close and tickle me pink
sugar sweet sweet — mouth watering treat me like a
queen
Are you a believer — I am a believer
the sea is fine alley napping the wolf is out to lunch
the sky is not the limit and I bake pies
I am a believer
I hear their bodies pop under my shoe
they speak in tongues and tiny circles
Loop de loop here we go loop de loo
No one dare call me a liar
you are the eighth or ninth or tenth wonder
me I’m hollow not shallow
but fierce like Bruce Lee
I am a believer Are you a believer
call me pussy pussy little kitten
I bind my foot to shut your mouth — come close and
tickle me pink
sugar sweet sweet mouth watering treat me like a queen
The world is my absolute oyster in the innocence of
outer space
Here in the void of Alice you’re it na na nana na
Loop de loop here we go loop de loo
Are you a believer I am a believer
All you rise??
Outside ???
In this half light
but your not so sure
of yourself tonight
we have got ourselves a fire
for us to light, but you
yeah you remain
so quiet & polite
& I said, Don't you mourn the sun!
& I said, Don't you mourn the sun!
& I said, Don't you mourn the sun!
Cause darling, the nightmare has just begun
Darling, the nightmare has just begun
It's just begun
Now don't you dare
Don't you dare
Don't you dare
Sleep
We'll take this night for all we can keep
Now don't you dare
Don't you dare
Don't you dare
Sleep
We'll take this night for all we can keep
& I said, Don't you mourn the sun!
& I said, Don't you mourn the sun!
& I said, Don't you mourn the sun!
Cause darling, the nightmare has just begun
Darling, the nightmare it's just begun
Now, we'll be happy
Until dawn
We'll be happy
Until dawn
We'll be happy...
My darling, the nightmare has just
Don't you, don't you
Maybe you could be the one for me
We could drink booze, or tea and
Get down on your settee
I've been thinking you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
But I'd like to try
I've been thinking you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
But I'd like to try
So get off and get on with me
And let go of your decency
And take your dog for a walk and
Take a walk by the sea
I've been thinking you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
But I'd like to try
I've been thinking you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
But I'd like to try
To saddle up the lame horse again
I'm tired of the money and the time I've spent
I've said every single word I meant
When I'm having fun I don't have to pretend
I tried to walk the line but the line is bent
I tried to keep in touch but the time just went
Now I think I'm ready to write again
So I'll get ready to write again
Mimi, you could be the one for me
We could drink booze, or tea and
Eat cake on your settee
I've been thinking you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
But I'd like to try
I think that you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
But I'd like to try
I think that you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
But I'd like to try
I think that you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
But I'd like to try
I think that you're wrong
I think that you're wrong
