Foot surgery a success for North forward Lindsay Thomas

AFL 2015 Rd 20 - North Melbourne v St Kilda

Lindsay Thomas has undergone surgery on the foot problem that hampered the second half of his season

NORTH Melbourne small forward Lindsay Thomas has undergone surgery to correct the foot condition that hampered the second half of his 2015 season.

For the past few months, Thomas has battled plantar fasciitis – inflammation of the thick connective tissue that supports the arch of the foot – which has severely restricted his ability to train and saw him start as the Roos' substitute in all three of their finals.

North confirmed on Tuesday that Thomas had had a successful operation on his foot that should allow him to start 2016 pre-season training on time.

Despite his injury troubles, Thomas kicked 34 goals from 21 games this year to finish fourth on North's goalkicking table, behind joint winners Drew Petrie and Jarrad Waite (42), and Shaun Higgins (39).

The South Australian was North's leading goalkicker in 2010 and 2013.
