New app launched for Grand Final week

September 28, 2015 1:55 PM

DISCOVERING all the fun and exciting events during Toyota AFL Grand Final Week has never been easier for fans thanks to the new EXPLORE AFL App.

The app, which was launched on Monday and is available free from the App Store and Google Play, allows fans attending the Foxtel Footy Festival, Toyota Live Site and Kids Zone in Yarra Park located outside the MCG, access to exclusive content and the latest event information.

Videos, maps, vouchers, offers, prizes and so much more will be available to EXPLORE AFL users and allow them to navigate the huge number of events on offer at their fingertips.

EXPLORE AFL, available on both iOS and Android platforms, is simple to use and provides the latest event information and notifies users of opportunities and giveaways.

Fans can simply scroll through the menu to find events and opportunities that appeal to them and be prompted when an event nearby is about to begin.

The new interactive platform has been developed in partnership with Mnet Australia, Australia’s most awarded mobile solutions agency.

EXPLORE AFL is powered by the world’s most extensive mobile platform for interactive engagement between location-based events and their customers, ‘Phigital’.

Mnet is the exclusive Australian distributor for the technology developed in the USA by Phigital Inc.

“Partnering the AFL in the busiest week of their sporting calendar is a great showcase for this technology,” said Scott Player, CEO of Mnet.

“The experiences available for consumers extend the engagement and interactivity of AFL’s events allowing deeper engagement with the sport.”

AFL Media General Manager Peter Campbell said the app would help the AFL engage with fans like never before.

“We are entering a new age of how we engage and interact with fans during Toyota AFL Grand Final Week,” he said.

“The ability to manage all content remotely, while updating content and information as it happens is another great extension of the event experience.

“In addition to the AFL Live App powered by Telstra, Australia’s most deployed and utilised sporting application, EXPLORE AFL complements and enhances our fans’ experience in the biggest week of the AFL calendar.”

The Foxtel Footy Festival, located in Yarra Park outside Gate 3 at the MCG, will celebrate everything Melbourne has to offer including food, music, movies and of course football.

The Foxtel Footy Festival opens from 4pm Wednesday September 30 and runs until Toyota AFL Grand Final Day on Saturday October 3.
