Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby (May 3, 1903 – October 14, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Crosby's trademark bass-baritone voice made him one of the best-selling recording artistes of the 20th century, with over half a billion records in circulation.
A multimedia star, from 1934 to 1954 Bing Crosby was a leader in record sales, radio ratings and motion picture grosses. His early career coincided with technical recording innovations; this allowed him to develop a laid-back, intimate singing style that influenced many of the popular male singers who followed him, including Perry Como,Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. Yank magazine recognized Crosby as the person who had done the most for American G.I. morale during World War II and, during his peak years, around 1948, polls declared him the "most admired man alive," ahead of Jackie Robinson and Pope Pius XII. Also in 1948, the Music Digest estimated that Crosby recordings filled more than half of the 80,000 weekly hours allocated to recorded radio music.
David Bowie ( /ˈboʊ.i/ BOH-ee; born David Robert Jones on 8 January 1947) is an English musician, actor, record producer and arranger. A major figure for over four decades in the world of popular music, Bowie is widely regarded as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He is known for his distinctive voice and the intellectual depth and eclecticism of his work.
Bowie first caught the eye and ear of the public in July 1969, when his song "Space Oddity" reached the top five of the UK Singles Chart. After a three-year period of experimentation he re-emerged in 1972 during the glam rock era with the flamboyant, androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust, spearheaded by the hit single "Starman" and the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Bowie's impact at that time, as described by biographer David Buckley, "challenged the core belief of the rock music of its day" and "created perhaps the biggest cult in popular culture." The relatively short-lived Ziggy persona proved merely one facet of a career marked by continual reinvention, musical innovation and striking visual presentation.
Milton Berle (born Milton Berlinger, July 12, 1908 – March 27, 2002) was an American comedian and actor. As the host of NBC's Texaco Star Theater (1948–55), he was the first major American television star and was known to millions of viewers as "Uncle Miltie" and "Mr. Television" during TV's golden age.
Milton Berlinger was born into a Jewish family in a five-story walkup at 68 W. 118th Street in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan. He chose Milton Berle as his professional name when he was 16. His father, Moses Berlinger (1873–1938), was a paint and varnish salesman. His mother, Sarah (Sadie) Glantz Berlinger (1877–1954), eventually became stagestruck and changed her name to Sandra Berle when Milton became famous.
Berle entered show business at the age of five when he won an amateur talent contest. He appeared as a child actor in silent films, beginning with The Perils of Pauline, filmed in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The director told Berle that he would portray a little boy who would be thrown from a moving train. In Milton Berle: An Autobiography, he explained, "I was scared shitless, even when he went on to tell me that Pauline would save my life. Which is exactly what happened, except that at the crucial moment they threw a bundle of rags instead of me from the train. I bet there are a lot of comedians around today who are sorry about that."
I can give you a choice....a choice to choose.

I love those dear hearts and gentle people
Who live in my home town
Because those dear hearts and gentle people
Will never ever let you down
They read the good book from Fri' till Monday
That's how the weekend goes
I've got a dream house I'll build there one day
With picket fence and ramblin' rose
I feel so welcome each time that I return
That my happy heart keeps laughin' like a clown
I love the dear hearts and gentle people
Who live and love in my home town
There's a place I'd like to go and it's Batten, Idaho
Where your friendly neighbors smile and say "Hello;"
It's a pleasure and a treat to meander down the street
That's why I want the whole wide world to know
I love those dear hearts and gentle people
Who live in my home town
Because those dear hearts and gentle people
Will never ever let you down
They read the good book from Fri' till Monday

Home, home sweet home
Oh holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth, ohh yeah
Now long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices
Oh night divine, oh night when Christ was born
Oh night divine, oh night, oh night divine
Our Father, who art in heaven Hallowed be thy Name
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom The power, and the glory
For ever and ever Amen
Fall on your knees, oh hear the angels voices
Oh night divine, oh night when
Christ was born Oh night divine, oh night
Ohhh... yeah yeah
Ha ha ha ha
Ohh yeah No ohh, ohh yeah
Ohh ooh, ah oh
Now ooh, ohh ooh
Oh yeah
It was a holy, holy night Ohh, oh ooh, oh ooh
(Oh holy night)
It was a holy night when Jesus Christ was born
(Oh holy night)
Holy... yes, Jesus Christ
(Oh holy night)
And the power, and the glory, yeah
(Oh holy night)
When Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ
(Oh holy night)
He was born on this night, on this night
(Oh holy night)
Jesus Christ Forever, and ever, and ever, and ever
Night winds cold & melancholy
Wail the ? & holly
Oh my tragedy
Like a misery
Made for only me
While I linger weary
'Neath a willow tree
Right here our romance was started
Here again we parted
When I set you free
All my thoughts are jumbled
Everything is blurred
Oh the world has crumbled
Shattered by a word
The end has come
By heart is numb
Was like a volt from the blue above
I can't believe it
But you're gone darling
And here lies love
The skies dark
And I hear a lark
He sounds as sad as a mournful dove
The dew appears like the tears of gone
Darling for here lies love
All my dreams lost beyond recall
Dreams of spring blessed within the fall
You gave lips
You gave arms
I gave all
I ought to cry
My eyes are dry
There's only one thing I'm conscious of
I only know that I can't go on
Darling here lies love
The end has come
And my heart is numb
It was like a volt from the blue above
I can't believe it but you're gone darling
And here lies love
I only know that I can't go on
Darling for here lies love
Amor, amor, amor,
This word so sweet that I repeat,
Means I adore you.
Amor, amor, my love,
Would you deny this heart
That I have placed before you?
I can't find another word
With meaning so clear,
My lips try to whisper
Sweeter things in your ear.
But somehow or other,
Nothing sounds quite so dear,
As this soft caressing word I know.
Amor, amor, my love,
When you're away,
There is no day,
And nights are lonely.
Amor, amor, my love,
Make life divine,
Say you'll be mine

Oh! Baia-yah
When twilight is deep in the sky,
Baia-yah! Someone that I long to see
Keeps haunting my reverie,
And so the loneliness deep in my heart
Around the world I've searched for you
I traveled on when hope was gone
To keep a rendezvous
I knew somewhere, sometime, somehow,
You'd look at me and I would see
That smile you're smil-ing now
It might have been in County Down,
Or in New York, in gay Paree,
Or even London town
No more will I go all around the world
For I have found my world in you
It might have been in County Down,
Or in New York, in gay Paree,
Or even London town
No more will I go all around the world
For I have found my world in you
Around the world I've searched for you
I traveled on when hope was gone to keep a rendezvous
I knew somewhere, sometime, somehow
You'd look at me and I would see that smile you're smiling now
It might have been in county down

No more will I go all around the world
For I have found my world in you
It might have been in county down
Or in New York, in gay Paris or even London Town
No more will I go all around the world
Every time you're near a rose
Aren't you glad you've got a nose
And if the dawn is fresh with dew
Aren't you glad you're you
When a meadowlark appears
Aren't you glad you've got two ears
And if your heart is singin' too
Aren't you glad you're you
You can see a summer sky
Or touch a friendly hand
Or taste an apple pie
Pardon the grammar, but ain't life grand
And when you wake up each morn
Aren't you glad that you were born
Think what you've got the whole day through
Aren't you glad you're you

Night and you and Blue Hawaii
The night is heavenly and you are heaven to me
Lovely you and Blue Hawaii
With all this loveliness there should be love
Come with me while the moon is on the sea
The night is young and so are we, so are we
Dreams come true in Blue Hawaii
And mine could all come true this magic night of nights with you
Come with me while the moon is on the sea (the moon is on the sea)
The night is young and so are we (so are we)
Dreams come true in Blue Hawaii
Beyond the reef
Where the sea is dark and cold
Where love has gone
And our dreams grow old
There'll be no tears
There'll be no regretting
Will you remember me
Will you forget
I'll send a thousand flow'rs
When the trade wind blows
I'll send my lonely heart
For I love you so
Someday I know
You'll come back again to me
Till then my heart will be
Beyond the reef
Beautiful girl, you're a lovely picture
Beautiful girl, you're a gorgeous mixer
Of all that lives under those big blue skies
My heart cries, beautiful girl
You're a dazzling icon, beautiful girl
I could never travel if I have you
You'd be my dream come true
There may be blonds and brunettes that are hard to resist
You surpass them like a queen
You got those lips that were meant to be kissed
And you're over sweet sixteen
Oh, beautiful girl, what a gorgeous creature
Beautiful girl, let me call the preacher
What can I do but give my heart to you
If I could write like poets do
I sang my songs that's all to you
Beautiful girl, you're my desire
But when I search for words of praise
I'm like a schoolboy in a daze
When you come my way, this is all that I can say
Can't you see my heart just cry
Beautiful girl, you're a dazzling icon
Beautiful girl, I could never travel if I have you
You'd be my dream come true
There may be blonds and brunettes that are hard to resist
You surpass them like a queen
You got those lips that were meant to be kissed

Far across the sea in Holland
In the land of wooden shoes
There's a story nearly everyone knows
You may never be in Holland
So I know you will excuse
If here and now I tell you how it goes
There's a little Dutch mill
On a little Dutch hill
Where the little Dutch stars shine bright
Now a little Dutch boy
And his little Dutch Girl
Fell in love by the mill one night
Up above, the Dutch moon made the scene complete
They both had so much moon, that it was a real Dutch
treat
So the little Dutch boy and the little Dutch Girl
Bought the little Dutch mill on the little Dutch hill
And they've added a touch of a little Dutch family.

Mexicali Rose stop crying
I'll come back to you some sunny day.
Every night you'll know that I'll be pining
Every hour a year while I'm away.
Dry those big brown eyes and smile dear
Banish all those tears and please don't sigh.
Kiss me once again and hold me
Mexicali Rose, goodbye.

Banish all those tears and please don't sigh.
Kiss me once again and hold me

Moonlight becomes you, it goes with your hair
You certainly know the right thing to wear
Moonlight becomes you, I'm thrilled at the sight
And I could get so romantic tonight
You're all dressed up to go dreaming
Now don't tell me I'm wrong
And what a night to go dreaming
Mind if I tag along
If I say I love you
I want you to know

I love you more each day

You smiled, I was taken by surprise
I guess I should have seen right through you
But the moon got in my eyes
I was so thrilled by the love you volunteered
I gave my heart without a compromise
I guess you don't remember, do you?
When the moon got in my eyes
I thought a kingdom was in sight
I would have the right to claim
But with the morning's early light
I didn't have a dream to my name
You know the saying, 'All who love are blind'
It seems that ancient adage still applies
I guess, I should have seen right through you

Ol' man river.
That ol' man river.
He don't say nothin'
But he must know somethin'
Cause he just keeps rollin'
He keeps rollin' along.
Rollin' along.
He don't plant tators
He don't plant cotton.
Them that plants 'em is soon forgotten.
But ol' man river
He keeps rollin' along.
You and me
We sweat and strain.
Body all achin'
And wracked with pain.
Tote that barge.
Lift that bale.
Get a little drunk
And you land in jail.
I gets weary
Sick of tryin'
I'm tired of livin'
Feared of dyin'
But ol' man river
Do you hear that whistle down the line
I figure that it's engine number forty-nine
She's the only one that'll sound that way

Where did fate lead you (Where are you?)
Funny how I dreamed you'd still be standing by
I had you at my beck and call
I called you any time at all
I guess I took too much for granted
I never thought I'd lie awake and sigh
Where are you, now that I need you
Now that I love you so madly I could die
I had you at my beck and call
I called you any time at all
I guess I took too much for granted
I never thought I'd lie awake and sigh
Where are you, now that I need you
Now that I love you so madly I could die
(Where are you, now that I need you)
Now that I love you so madly I could die
(Where are you?)
You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
To illustrate his last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark
Man, they said we better, accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
No, do not mess with Mister In-Between
Do you hear me?
Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear
About the elininatin' of the negative
And the accent on the positive
And gather 'round me children if you're willin'
And sit tight while I start reviewin'
The attitude of doin' right
You've gotta accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom, down to the minimum
Otherwise pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
To illustrate my last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they say
Say when everything looked so dark
Man, they said we better accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
If you wonder why I'm near you
Even though I've been denied
I'm inclined to be a little
On the sentimental side
I suppose I should forget you
If I had an ounce of pride
But I guess I can't help being
On the sentimental side
I should act gay
Laugh it off and say, farewell
Say it just didn't wear well
But I'm not that way
I'm in hopes you'll think it over
And perhaps be satisfied
With a simple sort of person
On the sentimental side
I should act gay
Laugh it off and say, farewell
Say it just didn't wear well
But I'm not that way
I'm in hopes you'll think it over
And perhaps be satisfied
With a simple sort of person
Dear gentlefolk of Newport
Or maybe I should
Say hats and cats
I want you to lend an ear
Because, well, I want you
To hear some really
Shimmering sharps and flats
For these cozy virtuosi
Just about the greatest
In the trade are fixing
To show you now precisely how
Or approximately
Jazz music is made
Well, you take some skins
Jazz begins
Then you take a bass
Man, now we're
Getting someplace
Take a box
One that rocks
Take a blue horn
New Orleans born
You take a stick
With a lick
Take a bone
Ho ho, hold the phone
Take a spot
Cool and hot
Now you has jazz, jazz
Jazz, jazz, jazz
That's positively theraputic
Now you has jazz, jazz, jazz
Masters Hall and Young
That's Ed Hall
And Tommy Young
Now you has Masters
Kyle and Shaw
That's Billy Kyle
Arvil Shaw
Now you has Mr. Barrett Deems
Listen to, well, you know who
Hey, Pops, you wanna grab
A little of what's left here
Yeah, Daddy, yeah
Here we go
If you sail
(Sailing, sailing)
Over the sea
(Will you wait for me)
Take my tip, they're all
Molto hip in Italy
(Well, Arrevederci)
(As for France)
Oh, I know you're
Very big there
(Yes, believe it or not)
I do believe, I do indeed
(Frenchmen all prefer what
They call le jazz hot)
Take a plane
(Bobba doo zot)
Go to Siam in Bangkok
Today round the clock
Well, they all like to jam
Indians on the Amazon
Beat one bar and
All of them are
(Well, gone, man, gone)
From the Equator
Up to the Pole
Everybody winging
Everybody singing
That rock, rock, rock
Rock, rock and roll
From the East to the West
From the coast to the coast
Jazz is king cause jazz is
The thing folks dig
Did your mother come from Ireland,
Cos' there's something in you Irish.
Will you tell me where you get those Irish eyes.
And before she left Killarney,
Did your mother kiss the Blarney.
Cos' your little touch of brogue you can't disguise.
Oh I wouldn't be romancin',
I can almost see you dancin',
Where the Kerry pipers play.
Sure and maybe we'll be sharin',
In the shamrock you'll be wearin',
On the next St. Patrick's Day.
Did your mother come from Ireland,
Cos' there's something in you Irish.
And that bit of Irish steals my heart away.
Did your mother come from Ireland,
Cos' there's something in you Irish.
Will you tell me where you get those Irish eyes.
And before she left Killarney,
Did your mother kiss the Blarney,
Cos' your little touch of brogue you can't disguise.
Oh I wouldn't be romancin',
I can almost see you dancin',
Where the Kerry pipers play.
Sure and maybe we'll be sharin',
In the shamrock you'll be wearin',
On the next St. Patrick's Day.
Did your mother come from Ireland,
Cos' there's something in you Irish.
I got plenty o' nuttin'
An' nuttin's plenty for me.
I got no car, got no mule, and I got no misery.
De folks wid plenty o' plenty
Got have a lock on dey door,
'Fraid sombody's a-goin' to rob 'em
While dey's out a-makin' more.
What for?
I got no lock on de door
Dat's no way to be,
Dey can steal de rug from de floor,
Dat's okay wid me,
"Cause de things dat I prize
Like de stars in de skies
Are all free.
Oh, I got plenty o' nuttin'
An' nuttin's plenty for me.
I got my gal, and got my song,
Got Hebben the whole day long!
Got my gal, got my Lawd, got my song!
I got plenty o' nuttin'
An' nuttin's plenty for me.
I've got the sun, and I got the moon
And I got the deep blue sea,
Before with plenty of plenty
Got to pray all da' day
Seems with plenty,
That you sure got to worry
How to keep the devil away
Away.
I ain't a frettin' bout hell
Til' the time arrives,
Never worry long as I'm well
Never want to strive
To be good, to be bad, what the hell
I's glad I's alive.
Oh, I got plenty o' nuttin'
An' nuttin's plenty for me.
I got my gal, got my song,
Got Hebben the whole day long!
The pale moon was rising above the green mountain
The sun was declining beneath the blue sea
When I strayed with my love to the pure crystal fountain
That stands in the beautiful vale of Tralee
She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer
Yet 'twas not her beauty alone that won me
Oh no, 'twas the truth in her eyes ever dawning
That made me love Mary, the rose of Tralee
The cool shades of evening, their mantle were spreading
And Mary all smilin' was listenin' to me
The moon through the valley, her pale rays were shading
When I won the heart of the rose of Tralee
The lovely and fair as the rose of the summer
Yet 'twas not her beauty alone that won me
Oh no, 'twas the truth in her eyes ever dawning
Samantha, you're all
I'll ever adore
So forgive me, do
If I say to you
What I've said so often before
I love you, Samantha
And my love will never die
Remember, Samantha
I'm a one-gal guy
Together, Samantha
We could ride a star and ride it high
Remember, Samantha
I'm a one-gal guy
And if some distant day
You decided to say
Get along, go away, goodbye
Remember, Samantha
I'm a one-gal guy
On top of old Smokey
All covered with snow
I lost my true lover
For a courting to slow
Yes, courting's a pleasure
And parting is grief
And a false hearted lover
Is worse than a thief
She'll kiss you, she'll hug you
And tell you more lies
Than the cross ties on a railroad
Or the stars in the sky
Let me tell you 'bout my baby
She's like bad brandy, wine
The first time I kissed her
She drove me out my mind
She's a Baltimore special
Got a fine brown frame
When you see her in motion
Evil woman is her name
Did I tell you 'bout the eastman?
Lord what a shame
He run off with my baby
And scandalized my name
Well, I went up on a mountain top
To call my baby back
She was gone with that eastman
Down that lonesome railroad track
If I ever see that eastman
I'll shoot him with my gun
I'll cut him with my long jones
And dare that pimp to run
Little Liza, little Liza
I couldn't sleep last night
Come on back home baby
Everything will be all right
Let me tell you, let me tell you
I don't care what you say
If my woman ever comes back
I'll give my life away
If you ever see a dark cloud
A rollin' in the sky
It's my woman gone to heaven
With a tear drop in her eye
On top of old Smokey
All covered with snow
I lost my true lover
Something very strange and mystic happened to me
Something realistic and as weird as can be
Something that I feared, somehow is now endeared to me
And what a funny feeling, odd and yet so true
Did a thing like this ever happen to you?
Did you ever see a dream walking? Well, I did
Did you ever hear a dream talking? Well, I did
Did you ever have a dream thrill you with, "Will you be mine?"
Oh, it's so grand and it's too, too divine
Did you ever see a dream dancing? Well, I did
Did you a ever see a dream romancing? Well, I did
Did you ever see heaven right in your arms, saying, "I love you, I do"
Well, the dream that was walking and the dream that was talking
And the heaven in my arms was you
Did you ever see a dream walking? Well, I did
Did you ever hear a dream talking? Well, I did
Did you ever have a dream thrill you with, "Will you be mine?"
I saw the harbor lights
They only told me we were parting
The same old harbor lights
That once brought you to me
I watched the harbor lights
How could I help if tears were starting?
Goodbye to tender nights
Beside the silvery sea
I long to hold you near
And kiss you just once more
But you were on the ship
And I was on the shore
Now I know lonely nights
For all the while my heart is whispering
Some other harbor lights
Will steal your love from me
Now I know lonely nights
For all the while my heart is whispering
Some other harbor lights
Let me sigh, let me cry when I'm blue
Let me go way from this lonesome town
Won't be long til my song will be through
‘Cause I know I'm on my last go round
All the love I could steal, beg or borrow
Wouldn't heal all this pain in my soul
What is love but a prelude to sorrow
With a heartbreak ahead for your goal
Here I go
Now you know why I'm leaving
Got the blues
What can I lose
Good bye
All the love I could steal, beg or borrow
Wouldn't heal all this pain in my soul
What is love, just a prelude to sorrow
With a heartbreak ahead for your goal
Here I go
Now you know why I'm leaving
Got the blues
What can I lose
Blue skies smilin' at me
Nothin' but blue skies do I see
Bluebirds singin' a song
Nothin' but bluebirds all day long
Never saw the sun shinin' so bright
Never saw things goin' so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly
Blue days, all of them gone
Nothin' but blue skies from now on
(Blue skies smilin' at me
Nothin' but blue skies do I see)
Never saw the sun shinin' so bright
Never saw things goin' so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly
Blue days, all of them gone
Nothin' but blue skies from now on
Nothin' but blue skies from now on
All day tomorrow,
I'll be whispering your name
And the day after forever
I know I'll do the same.
Maytime or winter
I won't let you out of sight,
And the day after forever,
We'll talk about tonight.
Your laughter is a melody
That I'll remember long.
It plays upon my heartstrings
It's my favorite song.
All through a lifetime
I'll be loving you and then
On the day after forever,
I'll just begin again.
I love those dear hearts and gentle people
Who live in my home town
Because those dear hearts and gentle people
Will never ever let you down
They read the good book from Fri' till Monday
That's how the weekend goes
I've got a dream house I'll build there one day
With picket fence and ramblin' rose
I feel so welcome each time that I return
That my happy heart keeps laughin' like a clown
I love the dear hearts and gentle people
Who live and love in my home town
There's a place I'd like to go and it's Batten, Idaho
Where your friendly neighbors smile and say "Hello"
It's a pleasure and a treat to meander down the street
That's why I want the whole wide world to know
I love those dear hearts and gentle people
Who live in my home town
Because those dear hearts and gentle people
Will never ever let you down
They read the good book from Fri' till Monday
That's how the weekend goes
I've got a dream house I'll build there one day
With picket fence and ramblin' rose
I feel so welcome each time that I return
That my happy heart keeps laughin' like a clown
I love the dear hearts and gentle people
Who live and love in my home town
Home, home sweet home
Dinah
Is there anyone finer
In the state of Carolina?
If there is and you know her
Show her to me
Dinah
Got those Dixie eyes blazin'
How I love to sit and gazin'
To the eyes of Dinah Lee
Every night why do I
Shake with fright?
'Cause my Dinah might
Change her mind about me
Oh, Dinah
Should you wander to China
I would hop an ocean liner
Just to be with Dinah Lee
Dinah
Is there anyone finer
In the state of Carolina?
If there is and you know her and you know her
Show her to me
Dinah
Got those Dixie eyes blazin'
How I love to sit and gazin'
To the eyes of Dinah Lee
My Dinah every night why do I
Shake with fright?
'Cause my Dinah might
Change her mind about me
Dinah
If you wander to China
I would hop an ocean liner
Just to be with Dinah Lee
Every night why do I
Shake with fright?
'Cause my Dinah might
Change her mind about me
The name of this song is Dinah
Said it
The name of this song is Dinah
Snag it
The name of this song is Dinah
Ah, tell it
The name of this song is Dinah
Dinah
Wander to China
The state of Carolina
Listen, and you know her
I would like to have you show her to me
Dinah
Got those Dixie eyes blazin'
How I love to sit and gazin'
To the eyes of Dinah Lee
Oh, Dinah
Should you wander to China
I would get me an ocean liner
There's a famous thoroughfare,
I've heard collegiates say.
I'm not referring to Piccadilly.
It's not 42nd Street,
it's not the rue de la Paix,
nor is it Market Street in Philly.
Ask most any college Romeo,
to complete your education you must go....
Down the old ox road.
Though you'll never find where it is
by looking in maps,
with a little investigation you'll discover perhaps,
that this old tradition's not a place
but just a proposition called
the old ox road,
the old ox road.
Ox road could be any romantic spot:
a country highway or a moonlit yacht.
It could be in the parlor
when the lights are burning low;
it could be in the movie
in the very last row.
Down the old ox road.
In the magic of the moonlight
you are filled with delight,
while the leaves that flutter o'er you
whisper lover tonight,
why keep waiting, and debating,
when you know it's time for mating
on the old ox road,
on the old ox road.
They used to tell me
I was building a dream.
And so I followed the mob
When there was earth to plow
Or guns to bear
I was always there
Right on the job.
They used to tell me
I was building a dream
With peace and glory ahead.
Why should I be standing in line
Just waiting for bread?
Once I built a railroad
I made it run
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad
Now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime?
Once I built a tower up to the sun
Brick and rivet and lime.
Once I built a tower,
Now it's done.
Brother, can you spare a dime?
Once in khaki suits
Gee we looked swell
Full of that yankee doodle dee dum.
Half a million boots went sloggin' through hell
And I was the kid with the drum!
Say don't you remember?
They called me Al.
It was Al all the time.
Why don't you remember?
I'm your pal.
Say buddy, can you spare a dime?
Once in khaki suits,
Ah, gee we looked swell
Full of that yankee doodle dee dum!
Half a million boots went sloggin' through hell
And I was the kid with the drum!
Oh, say don't you remember?
They called me Al.
It was Al all the time.
Say, don't you remember?
I'm your pal.
Buddy, can you spare a dime?
We were waltzin' together to a dreamy melody
When they called out, "Change partner"
And you waltzed away from me
Now my arms feel so empty
As I gaze around the floor
And I'll keep on changing partners
Till I hold you once more
Though we danced for one moment
And too soon, we had to part
In that wonderful moment
Something happened to my heart
So I'll keep changing partners
Till you're in my arms and then
Oh, my darlin', I will never change partners again
Though we danced for one moment
And too soon, we had to part
In that wonderful moment
Somethin' happened to my heart
So I'll keep changing partners
Till you're in my arms and then
Oh, my darlin', I will never change partners again
When I'm worried and I can't sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep
And I fall asleep counting my blessings
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep counting my blessings
I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
If you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you'll fall asleep counting your blessings
I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
If you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
Dancing in the dark till the tune ends
We're dancing in the dark and it soon ends
We're waltzing in the wonder of why we're here
Time hurries by, we're here and gone
Looking for the light of a new love
To brighten up the night, I have you, love
And we can face the music together
Dancing in the dark
What all love is all, what all song is all to them we can be young
Hear this heart of mine, make your heart of mine, dear
One' tell me that we waltz
We're waltzing in the wonder of why we're here
Time hurries by, we're here and gone
And we can face the music together
A clouded moon creeps across the clouded sky
Winds of January sigh and moan
And yet it's June.
I can see a sky of blue
Dear the miracle is due to you.
Just you.
It's June in January
Because I'm in love
It always is spring in my heart
with you in my arms.
The snow is just white blossoms
that fall from above.
And here is the reason, my dear,
Your magical charms.
The night is cold
The trees are bare
But I can feel the scent of roses in the air.
It's June in January
Because I'm in love.
But only because I'm in love with you.
Oh the night is cold!
Won't it be to bear?
But I can feel the scent of roses in the air.
It's June in January
Because Im' in love
Your sweet expression
The smile you gave me
The way you looked when we met.
It's easy to remember
But so hard to forget.
I hear you whisper
"I;'ll always love you."
I know it's over, and yet,
It's easy to remember
But so hard to forget.
So I must dream
To have your hand caress me,
Fingers press me tight.
I'd rather dream
Than have that lonely feeling
Stealing through the night.
Each little moment
Is clear before me
And though it brings me regret
It's easy to remember
I'm young and healthy,
And you've got charms;
It would really be a sin
Not to have you in my arms.
I'm young and healthy,
And so are you;
When the moon is in the sky
Tell me what am I to do?
If I could hate you
I'd keep away;
That ain't my nature,
I'm full of vitamin 'A,' say!
Say I'm young and healthy,
So let's be bold;
In a year or two or three,
Maybe we will be
Too old
If I could hate you
I'd keep away;
But that ain't my nature,
Looks like I'm full of that vitamin 'A,' say!
I want to say I'm young and healthy,
So let's be bold;
In a year or two or three,
Maybe we will be
Too old
Oh, me name is MacNamara, I'm the leader of the band
Although we're few in numbers, we're the finest in the land
We play at wakes and weddings and at every fancy ball
And when we play the funerals, we play the March from Saul
Oh, the drums go bang and the cymbals clang and the horns they blaze away
McCarthy pumps the old bassoon while I the pipes do play
And Henessee Tennessee tootles the flute and the music is somethin' grand
A credit to old Ireland is MacNamara's band
Right now we are rehearsin' for a very swell affair
The annual celebration, all the gentry will be there
When General Grant to Ireland came he took me by the hand
Says he, "I; never saw the likes of MacNamara's Band"
Oh, the drums go bang and the cymbals clang and the horns they blaze away
McCarthy pumps the old bassoon while I the pipes do play
And Henessee Tennessee tootles the flute and the music is somethin' grand
A credit to old Ireland is MacNamara's band
Oh, my name is Uncle Julius and from Sweden I did come
To play with MacNamara's Band and beat the big bass drum
And when I march along the street the ladies think I'm grand
They shout, "There;'s Uncle Julius playin' with an Irish band!"
Oh, I wear a bunch of shamrocks and a uniform of green
And I'm the funniest lookin' Swede that you have ever seen
There is O'Brians, O'Ryans, O'Sheehans and Meehans, they come from Ireland
But, by yimminy, I'm the only Swede in MacNamara's Band
Oh, the drums go bang and the cymbals clang and the horns they blaze away
McCarthy pumps the old bassoon while I the pipes do play
And Henessee Tennessee tootles the flute and the music is somethin' grand
A credit to old Ireland is MacNamara's band
Out of the darkness you suddenly appeared
You smiled and I was taken by surprise
I guess I should have seen right through you
But the moon got in my eyes
I was so thrilled by the love you volunteered,
I gave my heart without a compromise
I guess you don't remember, do you?
When the moon got in my eyes
I thought a kingdom was in sight
That I would have the right to claim
But with the morning's early light
I didn't have a dream to my name
You know the saying that all who love are blind;
It seems that ancient adage still applies.
I guess I should have seen right through you,
But the moon got in my eyes
Oh what a night for sweethearts
Stars in the sky above
This our chance for sweet romance
Let's make this a night of love
Here we are together
The moon is hanging low
There's magic in its silvery light
It seems to say the time is right
Love me tonight
Life is so uncertain
And no one seems to know
How long we have to linger on
Tomorrow we both be gone
Love me tonight
Oh let me feel your arms
And let me feel your kiss
And if this great big world must end
Oh let it end like this
My lips are yours forever
My heart is in your hands
My love is yours to have, to hold
Don't wait until the moon is old
Love me tonight
Oh won't you love me tonight
Oh love me tonight
Oh let me feel your arms
And let me feel your kiss
And if this great big world must end
Oh let it end like this
My lips are yours forever
My heart is in your hands
My love is yours to have, to hold
Don't wait until the moon is old
Won't you love me tonight
Love thy neighbor,
Walk up and say How be ya
Gee! But I'm glad to see ya, pal,
How's tricks? What's new?
Love thy neighbor,
Offer to share his burden,
Tell him to say the word n
You will see him through
Especially if there should be
a beautiful girl next door,
Say to that girl next door,
don't think I'm bold
But my mother told me to
Love thy neighbor
And you will find your labor,
A great deal easier,
Life'll be breezier
If you Love Thy Neighbor
Blue nights and you
Alone with me.
My heart has never known such ecstasy.
Am I on earth?
Am I in Heaven?
Can it be the trees
That fill the breeze
With rare and magic perfume?
Oh no, it isn't the trees
It's love in bloom.
Can it be the spring
That seems to bring
The stars right into this room
Oh no, it isn't the spring
Its love in bloom.
My heart was a desert
You planted a seed
And this is the flower
This hour of sweet fullfillment.
Is it all a dream, a joy supreme
That came to us in the gloom?
You know it isn't a dream
It's love in bloom.
My heart was a desert
But you planted a seed
And this is the flower
This hour of sweet fullfillment.
Is it all a dream, a joy supreme
That came to us in the gloom?
You know it isn't a dream
Let me whisper I love you,
While we are dancing and the moon's aglow,
Let me whisper I love you,
While we're romancing let me murmur low.
We're meant for each other, here under the palms,
Let me whisper I love you
Learn to croon.
If you want to win your heart's desire.
Sweet melodies of love inspire
Romance.
Just murmur da da dee da da da
And when you do
She'll answer da da dee da da
And nestle closer to you.
Learn to croon
You'll eliminate each rival soon
If you're heading for a sunny honeymoon
Learn to croon.
In days of old when nights were bold
Fair ladies were enraptured
By stirring deeds of chivalry and daring.
But nowadays in other ways
Sweet maids are one encaptured
You'll hear the best authorities declaring
Learn to croon
Ya da da dee da da da da
La da da da dee da da da
La da da da dee
Just murmur da da dee da da da dee
And when you do.
She answer da da dee da da dee dee
And nestle closer to you
Learn to croon
You'll eliminate each rival soon
If you're heading for a sunny honeymoon
Just one more chance
To prove it's you alone I care for
Each night I say a little prayer for
Just one more chance
Just one more night
To taste the kisses that enchant me
I'd want no others if you'd grant me
Just one more chance
I've learned the meaning of repentance
Now you're the jury at my trial
I know that I should serve my sentence
Still, I'm hoping all the while
You'll give me
Just one more word
I said that I was glad to start out
But now I'm back to cry my heart out
For just one more chance
We spend our lives in groping for happiness
I found it once and tossed it aside
I paid for it with hours of loneliness
I've nothing to hide
I'd bury my pride for...
(mmm-bo-ba-ba-boo)
--- whistling ---
Just one more chance
(mmm-bo-ba-ba-boo)
--- whistling ---
Just one more chance
I've learned the meaning of repentance
Now you're the jury at my trial
I know that I should serve my sentence
Still, I'm hoping all the while
You'll give me
Just one more word
I said that I was glad to start out
But now I'm back to cry my heart out
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song, as we go along
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say, "Are you married?"
We'll say, "No man"
But you can do the job, when you're in town
Later on, we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid, the plans that we've made
Walking in a winter wonderland
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song, as we go along
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with Mister Snowman
Yes, until the all the kids knock him down
And later on,we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid, the plans that we've made
Walking in a winter wonderland
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer
Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In his arms he'll take and shield thee
Thou wilt find a solace there
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Night winds cold & melancholy
Wail the ? & holly
Oh my tragedy
Like a misery
Made for only me
While I linger weary
‘Neath a willow tree
Right here our romance was started
Here again we parted
When I set you free
All my thoughts are jumbled
Everything is blurred
Oh the world has crumbled
Shattered by a word
The end has come
By heart is numb
Was like a volt from the blue above
I can't believe it
But you're gone darling
And here lies love
The skies dark
And I hear a lark
He sounds as sad as a mournful dove
The dew appears like the tears of gone
Darling for here lies love
All my dreams lost beyond recall
Dreams of spring blessed within the fall
You gave lips
You gave arms
I gave all
I ought to cry
My eyes are dry
There's only one thing I'm conscious of
I only know that I can't go on
Darling here lies love
The end has come
And my heart is numb
It was like a volt from the blue above
I can't believe it but you're gone darling
And here lies love
I only know that I can't go on
Darling for here lies love
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus lane
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
Pullin' on the reins
Bells are ringin', children singin'
All is merry and bright
Hang your stockings and say your prayers
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight!
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus lane
He's got a bag that's filled with toys
For boys and girls again
Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle,
Oh what a beautiful sight
So jump in bed and cover your head
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight!
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus lane
He doesn't care if you're rich or poor
He loves you just the same
Santa Claus knows we're all Gods children
That makes everything right
So fill your hearts with Christmas cheer
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight!
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus lane
He'll come around when the chimes ring out
That it's Christmas morn again
Peace on earth will come to all
It we just follow the light
So lets give thanks to the lord above
That Santa Claus comes tonight!
Silent night, holy night all is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin, mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night all is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin, mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Did I see moonlight and magnolia trees?
Smile again, my darling, if you please.
Did I hear music on a warm spring breeze?
Speak again, my darling, if you please.
Did I feel cool September rain just then?
If you please, touch my cheek with your hand again.
When you are near me I can dream with ease,
And I'm yours, my darling, if you please
Samantha, you're all
I'll ever adore,
So forgive me, do,
If I say to you
What I've said so often before.
I love you, Samantha,
And my love will never die.
Remember, Samantha,
I'm a one-gal guy.
Together, Samantha,
We could ride a star and ride it high.
Remember, Samantha,
I'm a one-gal guy.
And if some distant day
You decided to say,
'Get along, go away, goodbye!'
Remember, Samantha,
I'm a one-gal guy.
Remember, Samantha,
I'm a one gal guy.
i'm an old cowhand
from the rio grande
and i learned to ride
'fore i learned to stand.
i'm a cowboy who
never saw a cow
never roped a steer
'cause i don't know how
and i sure ain't aimin'
to learn how now
yippee-ay-o-ai-ay
We've played the game of 'stay away'
But it costs more than I can pay
Without you I can't make my way
I surrender, dear.
I may seem proud and I may act gay
That's just a pose, I'm not that way.
Cause deep down in my heart I say,
I surrender, dear.
Those little mean things we were doing
Must have been part of the game
Lending a spice to the wooing
Oh, but I don't care who's to blame
When stars appear and shadows fall
Then you'll hear my poor heart call
To you my love, my life, my all
I surrender, dear
------ instrumental break ------
Oh, to you my love, my life, my all
I can't begin to tell you how much you mean to me
My world would end if ever we were through
I can't begin to tell you how happy I would be
If I could speak my mind like others do
I make such pretty speeches
Whenever we're apart
But when you're near, the words I choose
Refuse to leave my heart
So take the sweetest phrases the world has ever known
And make believe I've said 'em all to you
I make such pretty speeches
Whenever we're apart
But when you're near, the words I choose
Refuse to leave my heart
So take the sweetest phrases the world has ever known
O give me a home where the buffalo roam
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
Home, home on the range,
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day
How often at night when the heavens are bright
With the light of the glittering stars
I stand there amazed & I ask as I gaze
If their glory exceed that of ours
Oh give me a land where the bright diamond sun
Flows leisurely down the stream
Where the graceful white swan goes gliding along
Like a maid in a heavenly dream
Home
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the skies are not cloudy all day
You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
(To illustrate his last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark)
Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
No, do not mess with Mister In-Between
Do you hear me, hmm?
(Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear
About the elininatin' of the negative
And the accent on the positive)
And gather 'round me children if you're willin'
And sit tight while I start reviewin'
The attitude of doin' right
(You've gotta accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between)
You've got to spread joy (up to the maximum)
Bring gloom (down) down to the minimum
Otherwise (otherwise) pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
To illustrate (well illustrate) my last remark (you got the floor)
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they say (what did they say)
Say when everything looked so dark
Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
It was a lucky April shower
It was the most convenient door
I found a million dollar baby
In a five and ten cent store.
The rain continued for an hour.
I hung around for three or four.
Around a million dollar baby
In a five and ten cent store.
She was selling china
And when she made those eyes,
I kept buying china
Until the crowd got wise.
Incidently
If you should run into a shower,
Just step inside my cottage door,
And meet the million dollar baby
From the five and ten cent store.
Love comes along like a popular song
Any time or anywhere at all.
Rain or sunshine
Spring or fall.
Say, you'll never know when it may say hello
In a very unexpected place.
For example, take my case.
(Bing scats.)
She was selling china
And when she made those eyes
I kept buying china
until the crowd got wise.
Incidently
If you should run into a shower
Oh, step inside my cottage door
And meet my million dollar baby
I have given you my true love,
But you love a new love.
What am I supposed to do now
With you now, you're through?
You'll be on your merry way
And there's only this to say:
I'm through with love
I'll never fall again.
Said adieu to love
Don't ever call again.
For I must have you or no one
And so I'm through with love.
I've locked my heart
I'll keep my feelings there.
I have stocked my heart
with icy, frigid air.
And I mean to care for no one
Because I'm through with love.
Why did you lead me
to think you could care?
You didn't need me
for you had your share
of slaves around you
to hound you and swear
with deep emotion and devotion to you.
Goodbye to spring and all it meant to me
It can never bring the thing that used to be.
For I must have you or no one
And so I'm through with love.
Why did you lead me
to think you could care?
You didn't need me for you had your share
of slaves around you to hound you and swear
with deep emotion and devotion to you.
Goodbye to spring and all it meant to me
It can never bring the thing that used to be.
For I must have you or no one
And so I'm through with love.
I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande
But my legs ain't bowed and my cheeks ain't tan
I'm a cowboy who never saw a cow
Never roped a steer cause I don't know how
Sure ain't a fixin to start in now
Yippie yi yo kayah
I'm an old cowhand and I come down from the Rio Grande
And I learned to ride, ride, ride 'fore I learned to stand
I'm a riding fool who is up to date
I know every trail in the Lone Star State
Cause I ride the range in a Ford V-8
Yippie yi yo kayah
We're old cowhands from the Rio Grande
And we come to town just to hear the band
We know all the songs that the cowboys know
'Bbout the big corral where the doggies go
We learned them all on the radio
Yippie yi yo kayah
I'm an old cowhand
Oh yes, Mr. Bing.
Too hot for you, Uncle Fudd?
Down from the Rio Grande
Oh where the west is wild all around the borderland
Where the buffalo roam around the zoo
and the Injuns run up a rug or two
and the old Bar X is just a barbecue, yeah
Yippie yi yo kayah
I'm a pioneer who began from scratch
I don't bat an eye in a shootin' match.
They don't call me Elmer, they call me Satch.
Yippie yi yo kayah
Yippie yi yo kayah
Get along little horsy
Get along little horsy
Yippie yi yo kayah, oh!
I have given you my true love,
But you love a new love.
What am I supposed to do now
With you now, you're through?
You'll be on your merry way
And there's only this to say:
I'm through with love
I'll never fall again.
Said adieu to love
Don't ever call again.
For I must have you or no one
And so I'm through with love.
I've locked my heart
I'll keep my feelings there.
I have stocked my heart
with icy, frigid air.
And I mean to care for no one
Because I'm through with love.
Why did you lead me
to think you could care?
You didn't need me
for you had your share
of slaves around you
to hound you and swear
with deep emotion and devotion to you.
Goodbye to spring and all it meant to me

You didn't need me for you had your share
of slaves around you to hound you and swear
with deep emotion and devotion to you.
Goodbye to spring and all it meant to me
It can never bring the thing that used to be.
For I must have you or no one
I'm no millionaire
But I'm not the type to care
Cause I've got a pocketful of dreams.
It's my universe
Even with an empty purse
Cause I've got a pocketful of dreams.
I wouldn't take the wealth of wall street
For a road where nature trods
And I calculate that I'm worth my weight
In goldenrods.
Lucky, lucky me I can live in luxury
I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Tell 'em I'll be there
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Save your pappy a chair
When the party's getting a glow on
And singin' fills the air
In the shank of the night
When the doin's are right
Well you can tell em I'll be there
I like a barbecue
I like to boil a ham
And I vote for bola baste stew
What's that?
I like a weenie bake, steak and a layer cake
And you'll get a tummy ache too
We'll rent a tent or a teepee
Let the town crier cry
"All;'s well!"
And if it's RSVP
This is what I'll reply
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Tell 'em we'll be there
If you need a pair of freeloaders
To fracture your affair
I may even give them Pagliacci
Now stand back and give him air
If one can relax and we'll have a few yaks
And you can tell them we'll be there
"Oui;," said the bumblebee
"Let;'s have jubilee."
"When;?" said the prairie hen, "Soon;?"
"Sure;," said the dinosaur
"Where;?" said the grisly bear
"Under; the light of the moon."
"How; about your brother, jackass?"
Everyone gaily cried
"Are; you coming to the fracas?"
Ain't gonna blow it
"And; all the respects," he sighed
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Tell 'em I'll be there
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Stick 'em on my hair
If perchance we look a bit peeked
Remember se la guerre
If we're still on our feet
And there's something to eat
Well you can tell them we'll be there
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Tell 'em I'll be there
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening
Better save a chair
When the party's getting a glow on
And singin' fills the air
If there's gas in my hack
and my laundry is back
If there's room for one more
And you need me
Why sure
If you need a new face or a tenor or base
If I can climb out of bed and put a head on my head
Kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again.
It's been a long, long time.
Haven't felt like this, my dear
Since I can't remember when.
It's been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you.
Or just how empty they all seemed without you.
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again.
It's been a long, long time.
Ah, kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again.
It's been a long time.
Haven't felt like this my dear
Since I can't remember when
It's been a long, long time.
You'll never know how many dreams
I dreamed about you.
Or just how empty they all seemed without you.
So kiss me once then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again.
It's been a long, long time.
When a bird young and free
Hangs around a certain tree
Singing serenades that tell his love is true
That's because it's the natural thing to do.
And when a cat on a fence
Keeps his darling in suspense
And he's brave enough to face a well-aimed shoe
That's because it's the natural thing to do.
And you know every dove
Has its heart set on love,
Rabbits, too, pet and pat,
And there's nothin wrong with that!
When a boy such as I
Tries so hard to qualify
With a very lovely lady such as you.
Can't you see it's the natural thing to do?
And then the girl she acts demure
The boy he feels proud and sure
So proud and sure that he impulsively suggests a rendevous.
Fine thing!
That's because it's the natural thing to do.
But the girl she just won't agree.
She whimpers and she simpers
And he begs on bended knee.
But she runs away because she knows full well he'll pursue.
The chump!
That's because it's the natural thing to do.
Then the boy in despair
Waves his arms, tears his hair.
Stamps his feet and he acts like mad
Then you know that he's got it bad.
Then the girl she oughta fall
If she's got a heart at all.
She should take him in her arms
And kiss him too.
Giddy-yap giddy-yap giddy-yap let's go
Let's look at the snow
We're riding in a wonderland of snow
Giddy-yap giddy-yap giddy-yap it's grand
Just holding your hand
(We're gliding along with the song of a wintry fairy land)
Our cheeks are nice and rosy
And comfy cozy are we
We're snuggled up together
Like two birds of a feather would be
Let's take the road before us
And sing a chorus or two
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
(There's a birthday party at the home of farmer Gray)
(It'll be the perfect ending of a perfect day)
We'll be singing the songs
We love to sing without a single stop
At the fireplace while we watch the chestnuts
(Pop, pop, pop, pop)
There's a happy feeling
Nothing in the world can buy
When they pass around the coffee
And the pumpkin pie
It'll nearly be like a picture print
By Currier and Ives
These wonderful things are the things
We remember all through our lives
Just hear those sleigh bells jingling
Ring ting tingling too
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Let's take the road before us
And sing a chorus or two
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you
Whoo, whoo there now
I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
Every day was blue day,
'Til you loved me true,
Say, all my cares have run away!
(Scatting)
From Monady on
My cares are over,
From Monday on
I'll be in clover;
We picked on Monday
Because it's wash day,
And we'll wash
Our blues away.
From Monday on
The skies'll look bright;
Don't tell me different,
I know I'm right!
I'm gonna start shoutin', "Hey, hey!"
When he says, "Love, honor and obey;"
I'll be happy
From Monday on!
One minute to midnight
One minute to go
One minute to say good-bye
Before we say hello
Let's start the new year right
Twelve o'clock tonight
When they dim the light
Let's begin
Kissing the old year out
Kissing the new year in
Let's watch the old year die
With a fond good-bye
And our hopes as high
As a kite
How can our love go wrong if
We start the new year right?
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Let's watch the old year die
With a fond good-bye
And our hopes as high
As a kite
How can our love go wrong if
We start the new year right?
You're a sweet little headache
But you are lots of fun
I've a good mind to spank you
Then thank you for all you've done
You're a sweet little headache
Full of quaint little schemes
But when I should forget you
I let you disturb my dreams
I thought I could hold my own with you
But you've got me all perplexed
For here am I alone with you
What are you going to do next?
You're a sweet little headache
If you keep on that way
But a sweet little heartache
You'll turn out to be some day
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Let Your Heart Be Light
Next Year All Our Troubles Will Be Out Of Sight
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Make The Yuletide Gay
Next Year All Our Troubles Will Be Miles Away
Once again, as in Olden Days
Happy Golden Days Of Yore
Faithful Friends Who Are Dear To Us
Will Be Near To Us Once More
Someday soon, We All Will Be Together
If The Fates Allow
Until Then, We’ll Have To Muddle Through Somehow
So Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Now
The pale moon was rising above the green mountain,
The sun was declining beneath the blue sea.
When I strayed with my love to the pure crystal fountain,
That stands in beautiful vale of Tralee.
She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer,
Yet, 'twas not her beauty, alone that won me.
Oh no! 'Twas the the truth, in her eye ever dawning,
That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.
The cool shades of evening, their mantle were spreading,
And Mary all smiling was listening to me.
The moon through the valley, her pale rays was shedding,
When I won the heart, of the Rose of Tralee.
Though lovely and fair, as the rose of the summer,
Yet, 'twas not her beauty, alone that won me.
Oh no! 'Twas the the truth, in her eye ever dawning,
That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.
I hate to see that evening sun go down,
I hate to see that evening sun go down,
'Cause my lovin' baby done left this town.
If I feel tomorrow, like I feel today,
If I feel tomorrow, like I feel today,
I'm gonna pack my trunk and make my getaway.
Oh, that St. Louis woman, with her diamond rings,
She pulls my man around by her apron strings.
And if it wasn't for powder and her store-bought hair,
Oh, that man of mine wouldn't go nowhere.
I got those St. Louis blues, just as blue as I can be,
Oh, my man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me.
I love my man like a schoolboy loves his pie,
Like a Kentucky colonel loves his rocker and rye
I'll love my man until the day I die, Lord, Lord.
I got the St. Louis blues, just as blue as I can be,
Lord, Lord!
That man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me.
I got those St. Louis blues, I got the blues, I got the
blues, I got the blues,
My man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me, Lord, Lord!
It's not the glow you feel, when snow appears
It's not the Christmas card, you've sent for years
Not the joyful sound, when sleigh bells ring (ring ring
ring)
Or the merry songs, children sing
Yeah the little gift you send, on Christmas day
Will not bring back the friend, you turned away
So may I suggest, the secret of Christmas (the secret of
Christmas)
It's not the things you do, at Christmas time
But the Christmas things you do all year through
We'll have Manhattan
The Bronx and Staten Island, too
It's lovely going through
The zoo
It's very fancy
On old Delancey Street, you know
The subway charms us so
When balmy breezes blow
To and fro
And tell me what street
Compares with Mott Street
In July
Sweet pushcarts gently gliding by
The great big city's a wondrous toy
Just made for a girl and boy
We'll turn Manhattan
Into an isle of joy
We'll go to Greenwich
Where modern men itch
To be free
And Bowling Green you'll see
With me
We'll bathe at Brighton
The fish you'll frighten
When you're in
Your bathing suit so thin
Will make the shellfish grin
Fin to fin
I'd like to take a
Sail on Jamaica Bay with you
And fair Canarsie's lake
We'll view
The city's bustle cannot destroy
The dreams of a girl and boy
We'll turn Manhattan
Into an isle of joy
We'll go to Yonkers
Where true love conquers
In the wilds
And starve together, dear
In Childs'
We'll go to Coney
And eat baloney
On a roll
In Central Park we'll stroll
Where our first kiss we stole
Soul to soul
Our future babies
We'll take to "Abie's Irish Rose"
I hope they'll live to see
It close
The city's clamor can never spoil
The dreams of a boy and goil
We'll turn Manhattan
Into an isle of joy
We'll have Manhattan
The Bronx and Staten Island, too
We'll try to cross Fifth Avenue
As black as onyx
We'll find the Bronnix Park Express
Our Flatbush flat, I guess
Will be a great success
More or less
A short vacation
On Inspiration Point
We'll spend
And in the station house we'll end
But civic virtue cannot destroy
The dreams of a girl and boy
We'll turn Manhattan
Into an isle of joy
Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you
If you're young at heart.
For it's hard, you will find, to be narrow of mind
If you're young at heart.
You can go to extremes with impossible schemes.
You can laugh when your dreams fall apart at the seams.
And life gets more exciting with each passing day.
And love is either in your heart, or on it's way.
Don't you know that it's worth every treasure on earth
To be young at heart.
For as rich as you are, it's much better by far
To be young at heart.
And if you should survive to 105,
Look at all you'll derive out of being alive!
And here is the best part, you have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart.
[Musical interlude]
And if you should survive to 105,
Look at all you'll derive out of being alive!
And here is the best part, you have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart
By a country road wild roses grow
That need my special care
So I haven't time to be a millionaire
And a cheerful brook on a mountain side
Is sad when I'm not there
So I haven't time to be a millionaire
And a friendly gang of robins are peeved when I forget
That I'm the second tenor in their quartet
So with all the things I have to do, I'm very much aware
If I wished for wealth it wouldn't be quite fair
'Cause I haven't time to be a millionaire
I haven't time to be a millionaire
'Cause cheerful brook on a mountain side is sad when I'm
I haven't the time to be a millionaire
And a friendly gang of robins are peeved when I forget
That I'm the second tenor in their quartet
So with all the things I have to do, I'm very much aware
If I wished for wealth it wouldn't be quite fair
'Cause I haven't time to be a millionaire
In this wonderful white world of winter
Darling, we'll have a wonderful time
First, we'll ride side by side thru the hinter
And roundelay to the sleigh bell's merry chime
Then we'll ski fancy free down the mountains
And take those chances all silly people do
If there's ever a moment you are freezin',
Just a little squeezin' Could be mighty pleasin'
In this wonderful white world of winter
I'm fallin' head over heels over you.
In this wonderful white world of winter
Darling, we'll have a wonderful time;
If we prayed it would snow all this winter
I ask ya, is that a terrible horrible crime?
I can't wait till we skate on Lake Happy
And sip a hot buttered cup in the after-flow
If there's ever a moment you're not laugh-in',
Maybe a toboggan Split your little noggin'
In this wonderful white world of winter
I'm thinking' you are the sweetest one I know
We're having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The temperature's rising,
It isn't surprising,
She certainly can can-can.
She started a heat wave
By letting her seat wave
In such a way that
The customers say that
She certainly can can-can.
Gee, her anatomy
Makes the mercury
Jump to ninety-three.
We're having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The way that she moves
That thermometer proves
That she certainly can can-can.
Evelina, won’t ya ever take a shine to that moon?
Evelina, ain’t ya bothered by the bobolink’s tune?
Tell me, tell me how long
Ya gonna keep delayin’the day.
Don’t ya reckon it’s wrong
Trifflin’ with April this way?
Evelina, won’t ya pay a little mind to me soon?
Wake up! wake up!
The earth is fair, the fruit is fine
But what’s the use o’ smellin’ winter water melon
Clingin’ to another fella’s vine?
Evelina, won’t ya roll off that vine an’ be mine?
Far away places with strange-sounding names
Far away over the sea
Those far away places with the strange-sounding names
Are callin', callin' me
Goin' to China or maybe Siam
I wanna see for myself
Those far away places I've been readin' about
In a book that I took from the shelf
I start getting restless whenever I hear
The whistle of a train
I pray for the day I can get underway
And look for those castles in Spain
They call me a dreamer, well, maybe I am
But I know that I'm burnin' to see
Those far away places with the strange-sounding names
Callin', callin' me
Lovable!
There's no use talking,
You're so lovable!
When we go walking I throw out my chest,
Say, you're the best;
Others just imitate
Kisses that you create!
Lovable!
You got a way of epttin'
That just drives me wild!
Say!
Heaven above-able,
Made you so lovable,
My pet, how I love her,
My pet, speaking of her,
Say, I bet there's nobody like my pet!
Why pet with another?
My pet pets no other,
And I pet with nobody but my pet!
Do-do-do, sweet and kind,
Oh-doh-doh, perfect gem,
Oh, she got "it"
Do-do-do-do-do, she's got them!
My pet told me truly,
I'm set, absolutely,
Oh won't you listen all you people
On the southbound train
Oh won't you listen to my friendly advice
About a quarter after seven, we'll be pulling into paradise
When you see land
Kinda green and grassy
Beneath a moon
Bright beyond compare
When you hear blue jays
Chirping high and sassy
And catch one sniff of southern cooking
Hanging on the evening air
When you see folks
All polite and classy
And every smile
Bids you stay and rest
Get off that train
You're in Tallahassee
The Southland at its best
When you see land
(Out of the window of a train)
Kinda green and grassy
(How in the world can you complain?)
Beneath a moon
(You ought to see the way it shines)
Bright beyond compare
(The way it shines upon the pines)
When you hear blue jays
Chirping high and sassy
And catch one sniff of southern cooking
Hanging on the evening air
(Oh sun)
When you see folks
(Having their after dinner chats)
All polite and classy
(Gentlemen all remove their hats)
And every smile
(Perfect harmony and peace)
Bids you stay and rest
(Hand the porter your valise)
Get off that train
You're in Tallahassee
(The Capital City of Florida)
And the Southland at its best
There is no doubt of it
We do not exaggerate of it
Come they told me
Pa rum pum pum pum
Our new born King to see
Pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring
Pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King
Pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
So to honor Him
Pa rum pum pum pum
When we come
Baby Jesus
Pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too
Pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring
Pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give a King
Pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
Shall I play for You
Pa rum pum pum pum
On my drum?
Mary nodded
Pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time
Pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him
Pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him
Pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum
Then He smiled at me
Pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas day
City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas
Children laughing, people passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you'll hear
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas day
Strings of street lights, even stoplights
Blinkin' bright red and green
As the shoppers rush home with their treasures
Hear the snow crunch, see the kids bunch
This is Santa's big day
And above all this bustle you'll hear
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas day
City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas
Children laughing, people passing
Meeting smile after smile
Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.
Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.
Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in
Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.
Ba boo ba ba boo.
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.
No.
Poppa, don't you fence me in
I'll tell you why I can't find you
Every time I go out to your place
You gone fishin'
(Well how you know?)
Well there's a sign upon your door
(Uh-huh)
Gone fishin'
(I'm real gone man)
You ain't workin' anymore?
(Could be)
There's your hoe out in the sun
Where you left a row half done
You claim that hoein' that ain't no fun
(Well I can prove it)
You ain't got no ambition
Gone fishin' by a shady wady pool
(Shangrila, really la)
I'm wishin' I could be that kind of fool
(Shall I twist your arm?)
I'd say no more work for mine
(Welcome to the club)
On my door I'd hang a sign
Gone fishin' instead of just a-wishin'
Papa Bing I stopped by your place a time or two lately
(Yeah louis)
And you aren't home either
Well, I'm a busy man Louis, I got a lotta big deals cookin'
I was probably tied up at the studio
You weren't tied up you dog, you was just plain old
Gone fishin'
(Bah-boo-bah-boo-bah-boo-bah-boo-bah)
There's a sign upon your door
(Pops, don't blab it around, will you?)
Gone fishin'
(Keep it shady, I got me a big one staked out)
Mmm, you ain't workin' anymore
(I don't have to work, I got me a piece of Gary)
Cows need milkin' in the barn
(I have the twins on that detail, they each take a side)
But you just don't give a darn
(Give 'em four bits a cow and hand lotion)
You just never seem to learn
(Man, you taught me)
You ain't got no ambition
(You're convincin' me)
Gone fishin'
(Bah-boo-dah-do-dah-do-dah-do)
Got your hound dog by your side
(That's old Cindy-Lou goin' with me)
Gone fishin'
(Mmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm)
Fleas are bitin' at his hide
(Get away from me boy, you bother me)
Mmm, folks won't find us now because
Mister Satch and Mister Cros
We gone fishin' instead of just a-wishin'
(Bah-boo-baby-bah-boo-bah-bay-mmm-bo-bay)
Imagine you imagining that you love me
And starting on a family tree,
Imagine starting on a family tree;
The mama is you and papa is me.
If your heart goes bumpety bump;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If your throat comes up with a lump;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If your knees go knockety knock;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If you're coo-koo like the coo-koo in the clock
It's Love-Love-Love!
Imagine you imagining a cozy flat.
Complete with running dog and cat,
Imagine having running dog and cat
And we will have welcome all over the mat.
If your heart goes bumpety bump;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If your throat comes up with a lump;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If your knees go knockety knock;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If you're coo-koo like the coo-koo in the clock
It's Love-Love-Love!
Imagine you imagining a man and wife;
We'll go buy a fork and a knife;
Imagine eating with a fork and a knife;
How ritzy we'll be for the rest of out life.
If your heart goes bumpety bump;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If your throat comes up with a lump;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If your knees go knockety knock;
It's Love-Love-Love!
If you're coo-koo like the coo-koo in the clock
It's Love-Love-Love!
Go fly a kite and tie your troubles to the tail
They'll be blown away by a merry gale,
Go fly a kite and toss your worries to the wind
And they won't come back, they'll be too chagrined.
Go on make friends with the sky
Have a talk with the sun
It's the bright way to live, if you'll pardon the pun
Go fly a kite and you'll imagine you're a king
Cause you've got your world on a piece of string
Go fly a kite and tie your troubles to the tail
They'll be blown away by a merry gale,
Go fly a kite and toss your worries to the wind
And they won't come back, they'll be too chagrined.
Go on make friends with the sky
Have a talk with the sun
It's the bright way to live, if you'll pardon the pun
Go fly a kite and you'll imagine you're a king
I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande
But my legs ain't bowed and my cheeks ain't tan
I'm a cowboy who never saw a cow
Never roped a steer cause I don't know how
Sure ain't a fixin to start in now
Yippie yi yo kayah
I'm an old cowhand and I come down from the Rio Grande
And I learned to ride, ride, ride 'fore I learned to stand
I'm a riding fool who is up to date
I know every trail in the Lone Star State
Cause I ride the range in a Ford V-8
Yippie yi yo kayah
We're old cowhands from the Rio Grande
And we come to town just to hear the band
We know all the songs that the cowboys know
'Bbout the big corral where the doggies go
We learned them all on the radio
Yippie yi yo kayah
I'm an old cowhand
Oh yes, Mr. Bing.
Too hot for you, Uncle Fudd?
Down from the Rio Grande
Oh where the west is wild all around the borderland
Where the buffalo roam around the zoo
and the Injuns run up a rug or two
and the old Bar X is just a barbecue, yeah
Yippie yi yo kayah
I'm a pioneer who began from scratch
I don't bat an eye in a shootin' match.
They don't call me Elmer, they call me Satch.
Yippie yi yo kayah
Yippie yi yo kayah
Get along little horsy
Get along little horsy
Oh, little Jack Frost get lost, get lost
Little Jack Frost get lost
You know you don't do a thing but put a bite on my toes
Freeze up the ground and take the bloom from the rose
Oh, little Jack Frost go away, go away
And don't you come back another day
There's lots of cold feet all the lovers complain
You turn up the heat down on lover's lane
The bench in the park is alone in the dark
So, little Jack Frost get lost, get lost
Little Jack Frost get lost
So, little Jack Frost get lost, get lost
Little Jack Frost get lost, get lost
You don't do a thing but put the bite on my toes
Freeze up the ground and take the bloom from the rose
So, little Jack Frost go away, go away
And don't you come back another day, get gone, go 'way
There's lots of cold feet, all the lovers complain
You turn off the heat down in lover's lane
The bench in the park is all alone in the dark
So, little Jack Frost get lost, get lost
Little Jack Frost get lost
Get lost, get lost, get lost, get lost
L. J. Frost get lost
Let me call you sweetheart
I'm in love with you
Let me hear you whisper
That you love me too
Keep the love light glowing
In your eyes so true
Let me call you sweetheart
I'm in love with you
Keep the love light glowing
In your eyes so true
Let me call you sweetheart
I'm in love with you
How i love the kisses of dolores
Oh i love her aye-aye-aye dolores
Not marie or emily or doris
None of them but only my dolores just dolores
From a balcony above me
She whispers "love me" and throws a rose
Ah but she is twice as lovely
As the rose she throws
I would die to be with my dolores
To be near her aye-aye-aye dolores
I was made to serenade dolores
Serenade her chorus after chorus
Just imagine eyes like moon rise
A voice like music lips like wine
What a break if i could make dolores
Mine all mine
I would die to be with my dolores
To be near her aye-aye-aye dolores
I was made to serenade dolores
Serenade her chorus after chorus
Just imagine eyes like moon rise
A voice like music lips like wine
What a break if i could make dolores
Mine all mine

A fine romance with no kisses
A fine romance, my friend, this is
We should be like a couple of hot tomatoes (to-mah-toes, dear)
But you're as cold as yesterday's mashed po-tah-toes (potatoes)
A fine romance, you won't nestle
A fine romance, you won't even wrestle
You've never mussed the crease in my blue serge pants
You never take a chance, this is a fine romance
A fine romance, my good fellow
You take romance, I'll take Jello
You're calmer than the seals in the Arctic Ocean
At least they flap their fins to express emotion
A fine romance, my dear Duchess
Two old fogies, we really need crutches
You're just as hard to land as the Ile de France! (Fronce)
I haven't got a chonce (chance), this is a fine romance
A fine romance, my good woman
My strong, aged-in-the-wood woman
You never give those orchids I send a glance
They're just like cactus plants, (oh boy)
This is a fine romance!
You must have been a beautiful baby
You must have been a wonderful child
When you were only starting to go to kindergarten
I bet you drove the little boys wild.
And when it came to winning blue ribboms
You must have shown the other kids how.
I can see the judges' eyes as they handed you the prize
You must have made the cutest bow.
You must've been a beautiful baby
'Cause baby look at you now.
Does your mother realize
The stork delivered quite a prize
The day he left you on the family tree?
Does your dad appreciate
That you're merely supergreat
The miracle of any century?
If they don't just send them both to me.
You must have been a beautiful baby
You must have been a wonderful child.
-------------------------------------------------------
When skies are cloudy and gray
They're only gray for a day
So wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream your troubles away
Until that sunshine peeps through
There's only one thing to do
Just wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream all your troubles away
Your castles may tumble, that's fate after all
Life's really funny that way
No use to grumble, smile as they fall
Weren't you king for a day?
Just remember that sunshine
Always follows the rain
So wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream your troubles away
Your castles may tumble, that's fate after all
Life's really funny that way
But no need to grumble, smile as they fall
Weren't you king for a day?
Just remember that sunshine
Always follows the rain
So wrap your troubles in dreams
You must have been a beautiful baby
You must have been a wonderful child

Oh! you must have been a beautiful baby
Why must I live in dreams
Of the days I used to know?
Why can't I find real piece of mind
And go back to the long ago?
Where the blue of the night
Meets the gold of the day
Someone waits for me
And the gold of her hair
Crowns the blue of her eyes
Like a halo tenderly
If only I could see her
Oh, how happy I would be
Where the blue of the night
Meets the gold of the day
Someone waits for me
If only I could see her
Oh, how happy I would be
Where the blue of the night
Meets the gold of the day
Where the blue of the night meets the gold of the day
Someone waits for me;
And the gold of her hair crowns the blue of her eyes
Like a halo tenderly;
If only I could see her,
Oh how happy I would be;
Where the blue of the night meets the gold of the day
Someone waits for me.
To the tables down at Mory's
To the place where Louie dwells
To the dear old Temple bar we love so well
Sing the Whiffenpoofs assembled
With their glasses raised on high
And the magic of their singing casts its spell
Yes, the magic of their singing of the songs we love so well
"Shall I Wasting" and "Mavourneen" and the rest
We will serenade our Louie while life and voice shall last
Then we'll pass and be forgotten with the rest
We're poor little lambs who have lost our way
Baa, baa, baa
We're little black sheep who have gone astray
Baa, baa, baa
Gentleman songsters off on a spree
Doomed from here to eternity
Lord have mercy on such as we
Where the blue of the night
meets the gold of the day
someone waits for me
And the gold of her hair
crowns the blue of her eyes
like a halo tenderly
If only I could see her
oh how happy I would be
Where the blue of the night
meets the gold of the day
someone waits for me
The stars come out lighting a deep blue sky
When mother nature sings her lullaby
The moon bends low kissing each rose goodnight
When mother nature sings her lullaby
Our cares and all our troubles
Will soon be put to flight
The gentle breeze of evening
Will blow them thru the night,
Each heartache gone, many new hopes are born
When mother nature sings her lullaby
Suntanned
Windblown
Honeymooners at last alone.
Feeling far above par.
Oh, how lucky we are!
While I give to you
And you give to me,
True love, true love.
So on and on
It'll always be,
True love, true love.
For you and I
Have a guardian angel
On high, with nothin' to do.
But to give to you
And to give to me,
Love forever true.
For you and I
Have a guardian angel
On high, with nothing to do.
But to give to you
And to give to me,
Love forever true.
I've sung about the birds and bees
The daffydown dillies and the shady trees
I've covered mother nature inside out.
There's the old ox road, the old millstream
Pennies from heaven and darn that dream
Nothin that I haven't sung about.
I've sung some songs of sacrifice
I've even sung a few that offered good advice.
I've covered all emotions there's no doubt.
Like a fine romance, learn to croon
Sing you sinners, and love in bloom.
Nothing that I haven't sung about.
There's many a chorus
I've sang of Delores.
Remember Marquita, and sweet Riorita?
There's Mary and Sally, and Rose Mexicali.
From Emiline to Clementine
They all got equal time.
Yes, musically I've been around
I've covered almost every town
I've always been a vocal gadabout.
From the Swanee River, to Galway Bay,
Atchison Topeka and the Santa Fe
There's nothing that I haven't sung about.
I found a million dollar baby in a ten cent store
A pockeful of dreams and plenty more
Since anything goes I pick Sweet Sue
Spose that's the natural thing to do.
We began the beguine and I could feel it start
I said please be careful that's my heart!
In the cool of the evening 'neath the autumn leaves
We call for music, maestro please!
There's a great temptation as we cuddle near
And I whispered I surrender dear.
The bells of St Mary's rang in the steeple
For all the dear friends and gentle kind of people.
I said babe I got you under my skin
It had to be you 'cause love walked in.
From here on in you'll be going my way
Til the blue of the night meets the gold of the day.
I've sung about Dolly, my Rosie of Tralee
I've sung of Chicago, and that song from Zhivago.
The old Mississippi and Tintipitipi.
The winter, summer, spring and fall
I've covered one and all
And I love 'em one and all!
I've tried to sing these modern songs
I just can't figure where that style belongs
The mad rock, acid rock, country, western, soul.
But when I try to sing 'em I ain't nowhere
I ain't got the clothes and I ain't got the hair
But I'll keep tryin' til there is no doubt
There ain't nothing, really nothing,
That I haven't sung about!
You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply, as time goes by
And when two lovers woo, they still say "I love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings, as time goes by
|: Moonlight and love songs, never out of date
Hearts full of passion, jealousy and hate
Woman needs man, and man must have his mate
There's no one can deny
It's still the same old story, a fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers, as time goes by
I got plenty o' nuttin'
An' nuttin's plenty for me.
I got no car, got no mule, and I got no misery.
De folks wid plenty o' plenty
Got have a lock on dey door,
'Fraid sombody's a-goin' to rob 'em
While dey's out a-makin' more.
What for?
I got no lock on de door
Dat's no way to be,
Dey can steal de rug from de floor,
Dat's okay wid me,
"Cause de things dat I prize
Like de stars in de skies
Are all free.
Oh, I got plenty o' nuttin'
An' nuttin's plenty for me.
I got my gal, and got my song,
Got Hebben the whole day long!
Got my gal, got my Lawd, got my song!
I got plenty o' nuttin'
An' nuttin's plenty for me.
I've got the sun, and I got the moon
And I got the deep blue sea,
Before with plenty of plenty
Got to pray all da' day
Seems with plenty,
That you sure got to worry
How to keep the devil away
Away.
I ain't a frettin' bout hell
Til' the time arrives,
Never worry long as I'm well
Never want to strive
To be good, to be bad, what the hell
I's glad I's alive.
Oh, I got plenty o' nuttin'
An' nuttin's plenty for me.
I got my gal, got my song,
Got Hebben the whole day long!
Got my gal, got my Lawd, got my song
Away in a manger no crib for a bed
the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay
the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing the baby awakes
but little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.
I love you Lord Jesus; look down from the sky
and stay by my side until morning is nigh.
Be near me Lord Jesus I ask you to stay
close by me for ever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in your tender care,
and fit us for heaven, to live with you there
Oh, we in't got a barrel of mo-mo-money
Maybe we're ragged and fu-fu-funny
But we'll travel allong
Singing a song
Side by side
Don't knwo what's coming tomo-mo-morrow
Maybe it's trouble and sorrow
But we'll travel allong
Sharing our load
Side by side
Trough all kinds of weather
What if the sky should fall
Just as long as we're together
It doesn't matter at all
When they've all had their quarrels and parted
We'll be the same as we started
We'll just travel allong
Singing a song
Side by side
Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly whites
Just a jackknife has old MacHeath, babe
And he keeps it out of sight
You know when that shark bites with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread
Fancy gloves wears old MacHeath, babe
So there's never, never a trace of red
Now on the sidewalk, sunny morning
Lies a body just oozin' life
And someone's sneakin' 'round the corner
Could that someone be oh Mack the Knife?
There's a tugboat down by the river don'tcha know
Where a cement bag's just a'droopin' on down
Oh that cement is just, it's there for the weight, dear
Five'll get ya ten old Mack he's back in town
Now d'ja hear 'bout Louie Miller? He disappeared, babe
After drawin' out all his hard-earned cash
And now MacHeath spends just like a sailor
Could it be our boy's done somethin' rash?
Now Jenny Diver, Sukey Tawdry
Oooh Miss Lotte Lenya and old Lucy Brown
Oh the line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macky's back in town.
Aah I said Jenny Diver, Sukey Tawdry
Look out to Miss Lotte Lenya and old Lucy Brown
Yes, that line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macky's back in town
Look out old Macky is back!!
And then she holds my hand, mm
And then I understand. mm
Her eyes afire with one desire
Then a heavenly kiss
Could I resist?
And then she dims the light, mm
And then she holds me tight. mm
Her kiss, each fond caress
They lead the way to happiness
She takes me to paradise
And then he holds my hand, mm
And then I understand. mm
His eyes afire with one desire
Then a heavenly kiss
Could I resist?
And then he dims the light, mm
And then he holds me tight. mm
Her kiss, each fond caress
They lead the way to happiness
She takes me to paradise
Now, if you're think that I'm lookin' somewhat tanner
Don't go blamin' it on the sun
It's the moonlight and the sweetness in your manner
That's makin' me the healthy one
When the moon hangs low, I begin to glow
And my day has just begun
I'm gonna get a moonburn when I'm with you tonight
So very soon, I'll moonburn when you hold me tight
I'll ask the glowing stars up above me
What your lips will impart
And when they flash the word that you love me
You know it's gonna warm my heart
I'll get a brand new moonburn
With every kiss from you
And if I have my way, get my say
You'll get a moonburn too
Oh, I'm catchin' me some moonburn
When I get you alone with me tonight
So very soon, I'll moonburn when you hold me tight
I'll ask the glowing stars up above me
Tell me what your lips will impart
And when they flash the word that you love me
Ooh, it'll warm my heart
I'm gonna get me a brand new kind of a moonburn
With every kiss I get from you
And if I get my way, get my say, you'll get a moonburn
too
Keep under cover, you'll get a moonburn too
Some children see Him lily white
The baby Jesus born this night
Some children see Him lily white
With dresses of their faith
I sing Noel, I sing Noel for children
For all little children who have no Christmas tree
I sing Noel, Noel, Noel
For little girls who have no pretty dress to wear
Little boys who have no teddy bears
I sing Noel, I sing Noel for children
For all lonely children who cry on Christmas Eve
I sing Noel, Noel, Noel
For little girls whose hands are trembling in the cold
Little boys whose eyes are too slow
May the new born Savior
Turn His tender face to you
May He help us all
To make this world a better place for you
I sing Noel, I sing Noel for children
For all little children who have no Christmas tree
Let's all sing Noel, rings the bells of Christmas
For all lonely children wherever they may be
Noel, Noel, come spend Christmas with me
Noel, Noel, come spend Christmas with me
I sing Noel
I sing Noel
The silvery moon finds me alone tonight,
With only thoughts of you;
The little stars are twinkling oh, so bright;
No wonder I am blue.
Like a ray of sun with flaring light,
You have brought the love that's burning;
Frosty, the snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And eyes made out of coal
Frosty, the snowman is a fairy tale, they say
He was made of snow but the children know
That he came to life one day
There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around
Oh Frosty, the snowman was alive as he could be
And the children say he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me
Thumpetty, thump, thump, thumpety, thump, thump
Look at Frosty go, thumpetty thump thump
Thumpety thump thump, over the hills of snow
Frosty, the snowman knew the sun was hot that day
So he said, "Let's run and we'll have some fun
Now, before I melt away"
Down to the village with a broomstick in his hand
Runnin' here and there, all around the square
Sayin', "Catch me if you can"
He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
He only paused a moment
When he heard him holler, "Stop"
Because ol' Frosty, the snowman, he had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye sayin', "Don't you cry
I'll be back again some day, I'll be back again some day
Every day was blue day,
'Til you loved me true,
Say, all my cares have run away!
(Scatting)
From Monady on
My cares are over,
From Monday on
I'll be in clover;
We picked on Monday
Because it's wash day,
And we'll wash
Our blues away.
From Monday on
The skies'll look bright;
Don't tell me different,
I know I'm right!
I'm gonna start shoutin', "Hey, hey!"
When he says, "Love, honor and obey;"
I'll be happy
Oh, my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me!
Lonely rivers flow
To the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Lonely rivers sigh
"Wait for me, wait for me"
I'll be coming home, wait for me!
Oh, my love, my darling
I've hungered, hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me!
All day tomorrow,
I'll be whispering your name
And the day after forever
I know I'll do the same.
Maytime or winter
I won't let you out of sight,
And the day after forever,
We'll talk about tonight.
Your laughter is a melody
That I'll remember long.
It plays upon my heartstrings
It's my favorite song.
All through a lifetime
I'll be loving you and then
On the day after forever,
I was talking to the Whippoorwill
He says you got a corny trill
Bob White
I'm gonna swing tonight
I was talking to the Mockingbird
He says you are the worst he's heard
Bob White
I'm gonna swing tonight
Even the owl, tells me you're fowl
Singing those lullaby notes
Well, he's a bring down
He never could swing down
He ain't got my high notes
There's the lotta talk about you, Bob
Good
They're sayin' you're off the cart
Why, that's hearsay, I'll sue
Make it, Mr Bing
Here goes
Take it, while only
Bob White
We're gonna break it up tonight
Now here's a wild upon the whippoorwill
(You mean my open bill)
He says that you have got a mellow trill
(Oh, oh, oh, yes, I have)
Bob White
We're in the groove tonight
Now here's another from the Mockingbird
What does he have to say?
That you're the best he's heard
Oh, oh, that's too absurd
Bob White
We really soul tonight
Even the owl, threw in the towel
After you sing, staccato
And the Flamingo, hollered by jingo
What a Vibrato
Now the consensus of opinion is
Oh, oh, oh, what does the consensus say?
That you're a solid will
Oh, oh, oh, yes, I is
Sing on, Mister Bing
I'm gonna swing on merrily
Bob White
We really broke it up tonight
Down in old Kentucky where horseshoes are lucky
There's a village smithy standin' under the chestnut tree
Hear the hammer knockin', see the anvil rockin'
He sings the boogie blues while he's hammerin' on the shoes
See the hot sparks a-flyin' like fourth of July-in'
He's even got the horses cloppin' pop, down the avenue
Folks love the rhythm, the clang bangin' rhythm
You'll get a lot of kicks out of the blacksmith blues

It seems like only yesterday
I sailed from out of cork
A wanderer from Erin's isle
I landed in New York
There wasn't a soul to greet me there
A stranger on your shore
But Irish luck was with me here
And riches came galore
And now that I'm going back again
To dear old Erin's isle
My friends will meet me on the pier
And greet me with a smile
Their faces, sure, I've almost forgot
I've been so long away
But me mother will introduce them all
And this to me will say
Shake hands with your uncle mike, me boy
And here is your sister, Kate
And there's the girl you used to swing
Down by the garden gate
Shake hands with all of the neighbors
And kiss the Colleens all
You're as welcome as the flowers in may
To dear old Donegal
They'll give a party when I go home
They'll come from near and far
They'll line the roads for miles and miles
With Irish jauntin' cars
The spirits will flow and we'll be gay
We'll fill your hearts with joy
The piper will play an Irish reel
To greet the Yankee boy
We'll dance and sing the whole night long
Such fun as never seen
The lads will be decked in corduroy
The Colleens wearin' green
There'll be thousands there that I never saw
I've been so long away
But me mother will introduce them all
And this to me will say
Shake hands with your uncle mike, me boy
And here is your sister, Kate
And there's the girl you used to swing
Down by the garden gate
Shake hands with all of the neighbors
And kiss the Colleens all
You're as welcome as the flowers in may
To dear old Donegal

Proudly swept the rain by the cliffs
As on it glided through the trees
Still following with grief the liko
A hihi lehua of the vale
Aloha oe, aloha oe
Thou charming one who dwells among the bowers
One fond embrace, before I now depart
Until we meet again
One fond embrace, before I now depart
Was in a Paris cafe that first I found him
He was a Frenchman, a hero of the war
But war was over
And here's how peace had crowned him
A few cheap medals to wear and nothing more
Now every night in the same cafe he shows up
And as he strolls by ladies hear him say
If you admire me, hire me
A gigolo who knew a better day
Just a gigolo, everywhere I go
People know the part I'm playing
Paid for every dance
Selling each romance
Every night some heart betraying
There will come a day
Youth will pass away
Then what will they say about me
When the end comes I know
They'll say just a gigolo
As life goes on without me
Just a gigolo, everywhere I go
People know the part I'm playing
Paid for every dance
Selling each romance
Every night some heart betraying
There will come a day
Youth will pass away
Then what will they say about me
When the end comes I know
They'll say just a gigolo
As life goes on without me

Here's a happy tune you'll love to croon
They call it Sam's song
It's catchy as can be, the melody
They call it Sam's song
Nothin' on your mind
And then you'll find you're hummin' Sam's Song
Why, it makes you grin
Gets under your skin as only a song can do
People that you meet out on the street
All whistlin' Sam's Song
Everyone you see will soon agree
That it's a grand song
So forget your troubles and wear a smile
You'll find you never go wrong
If you learn to croon this happy tune
They call it Sam's song
"And now another treatment of this
classic American Theme
Brought to you by, Mr. Gary Crosby"
Here's a happy tune
(That'll bring you a smile all the while
When you croon it you're really in style)
And the title is Sam's Song, it's catchy as can be
(With a sly little beat
And the melody sweet keeps you tappin' your feet)
And the title is Sam's Song
Nothin' on your mind
(But the news of the day and the bills you must pay
Keep your hair turnin' gray but you're still hummin' Sam's Song)
Are you alright, how's your brace
(Why, it makes you grin
Gets under your skin as only a song can do)
People that you meet
(Hello Joe, what you know and remind me to Moe
Tell him business is slow but I'm whistlin')
Sam's Song, everyone you see
(Has a story to tell or a gimmick to sell
But agree that it's swell and it's really)
A grand song
So forget your troubles and wear a smile
You'll find you never go wrong
If you learn to croon like a lark in the park
Who is making his mark serenadin' the dark
With a chorus of Sam's song
If you learn to croon the happy tune
Deck the halls with bought of holly,
Fa la la la la la, la la la la.
Tis the season to by jolly,
Fa la la la la la, la la la la.
Don we now our gay apparel,
Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Troll the ancient Yuletide carol,
Fa la la la la la, la la la la.
See the blazing Yule before us,
Fa la la la la la, la la la la.
Strike the harp and join the chorus.
Fa la la la la la, la la la la.
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle til morning is nigh.
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day in the morning.
Pray, wither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
Pray, wither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas Day in the morning?
O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
And all the bells on earth shall ring,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
And all the bells on earth shall ring,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
Mother, mother, everybody's starvin'
Mother, mother, let's eat
Hold your horses, got a million courses
And I'm fixin' a treat
Jeremiah, go and help your mother
Jay and Jonah, you too
Ezachiah, go and get your brother
Then fetch Jamie and Sue
Mother, mother, everybody's happy
Got a reason to smile
`Cause you know that I'm about to servin'
Christmas dinner country style
Christmas dinner country style
Everybody's sittin' by your head
We'll all say praise and then break bread
Put your napkin on your lap
While (?) is sided from the tap
Oh don't that turkey look divine
We'll promenade it down the line
Plenty off duck, well long (?) on white
So (?) plant it to your right
Now the sachet (?) hello met country ham
And double-sachet (?) ham
Swing to the left, and test that stuffin'
And swing to the right, a Huckleberry muffin
Time for your partner to reach across
And dosey-dose the cranberry sauce
Have another helpin' (?) one and all
And you in the roomer (?), swing to the ball
Pass a little rumsteak, if you please
And promenade the pretty bag-eyed (?) beast
When you all say cheese, dosey-dose
So much's turkey is about to explode
But you still gotta swing to the pickle twist
Choose your pie (?)
Oh dinner was grand, to say the least
So honour the lady who cooked the beast
Mother, mother, thank you for the dinner
All the fixin's were great
Nothin' to it, mighty glad to do it
Seeing how much you ate
Jeremiah, go and get your dinner
Come on father, let's eat (?)
I'm too full of turkey and
What Child is this, who laid to rest,
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is the Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary
Why lies He in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian fear: for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Nails, spear, shall pierce Him through,
The Cross be borne, for me, for you:
Hail, hail, the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh;
Come peasant, king to own Him.
The King of Kings salvation brings;
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Raise, raise, the song on high,
The Virgin sings her lullaby:
Joy joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Every time you're near a rose
Aren't you glad you've got a nose
And if the dawn is fresh with dew
Aren't you glad you're you
When a meadowlark appears
Aren't you glad you've got two ears
And if your heart is singin' too
Aren't you glad you're you
You can see a summer sky
Or touch a friendly hand
Or taste an apple pie
Pardon the grammar, but ain't life grand
And when you wake up each morn
Aren't you glad that you were born
Think what you've got the whole day through
Aren't you glad you're you
------ instrumental break ------
Every time you're near a rose
Aren't you glad you've got a nose
And if the dawn is fresh with dew
Aren't you glad you're you
When a meadowlark appears
Aren't you glad you've got two ears
And if your heart is singin' too
Aren't you glad you're you
You can see a summer sky

Or taste an apple pie
Pardon the grammar, but ain't life grand

Aren't you glad you're you
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral
Too-ra-loo-ra-li
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral
Hush now, don't you cry
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral
Too-ra-loo-ra-li
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral
That's an Irish lullaby
Over in Killarney, many years ago
My mother sang a song to me in tones so soft and low
Just a simple little ditty in her good old Irish way
And I'd give the world if I could hear that song of hers today
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral
Too-ra-loo-ra-li
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral
Hush now, don't you cry
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral
Too-ra-loo-ra-li
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral
That's an Irish lullaby
Down where the trade winds play, down where you lose the day
We found a new world where paradise starts
We traded hearts way down where the trade winds play
Music was everywhere, flowers were in her hair
Under an awning of silvery boughs
We traded vows the night that I sailed away
Oh, trade winds, what are vows that lovers make?
Oh, trade winds, are they only made to break?
When it is May again, I'll sail away again
Though I'm returning, it won't be the same
She traded her name way down where the trade winds play
Down where the trade winds play
Down where you lose the day
We found a new world where paradise starts
We traded high way down where the trade winds play
Music was everywhere, flowers were in her hair
Under an awning of silvery boughs
We traded vows the night that I sailed away
Oh trade winds, what are vows that lovers make
Oh trade winds, are they only made to break
When it is May again, I'll sail away again
Though I'm returning, it won't be the same
She traded her name way down where the trade winds play
I'm so afraid of night 'cause I'm too romantic.
Moonlight and stars can make such a fool of me.
You know you're much too near, and I am too romantic,
Wouldn't I be a sight on a bended knee.
I'm startled when you whisper, I'll run if you should sigh,
I must be so careful, or I'll kiss my heart goodbye.
You shouldn't let me dream 'cause I'm too romantic,
Don't make me fall unless it could all come true.
(chorus)
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Hush now, don't you cry.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
That's an Irish lullaby.
(verse)
Over in Killarney, many years ago,
My mother sang a song to me in tones so soft and low.
Just a simple little ditty in her good old Irish way.
And I'd give the world if I could hear that song of hers today.
(repeat chorus)
I search for phrases
To sing your praises
But there aren't any magic adjectives
To tell you all you are
You're just too marvelous
Too marvelous for words
Like glorious, glamorous
And that old standby amorous
It's all too wonderful
I'll never find the words
That say enough, tell enough
I mean they just aren't swell enough
You're much too much
And just to very, very
To ever be
In Webster's dictionary
And so I'm borrowing
A love song from the birds
To tell you that you're marvelous
Too marvelous for words
You're much too much
And just to very, very
To ever be
In Webster's dictionary
And so I'm borrowing
A love song from the birds
To tell you that you're marvelous
Love is lovelier the second time around.
Just as wonderful with both feet on the ground.
It's that second time you hear your love song sung.
Makes you think, perhaps, that love, like youth,
is wasted on the young.
Love's more comfortable the second time you fall.
Like a friendly home, the second time you call.
Who can say what brought us to this miracle we've found?
There are those who'll bet love comes but once, and yet,
I'm oh so glad we met the second time around.
Who can say what brought us to this miracle we've found?
There are those who'll bet love comes but once, and yet,
I'm oh so glad we met the second time around.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
The bells of St. Mary's
Ah, hear they are calling
The young loves, the true loves
Who come from the sea
And so my beloved
When red leaves are falling
The love bells shall ring out, ring out
For you and me
The bells of St. Mary's
Ah, hear they are calling
The young loves, the true loves
Who come from the sea
And so my beloved
When red leaves are falling
The love bells shall ring out, ring out
We're off on the road to Morocco
This camel is tough on the spine
(Hit me with a band-aid, Dad)
Where they're goin', why we're goin', how can we be sure?
I'll lay you eight to five that we'll meet Dorothy Lamour
(Yeah and get in line)
Off on the road to Morocco
Hang on till the end of the line
(I like your jockey, quiet)
I hear this country's where they do the dance of the seven veils
We'd tell you more but we would have the censor on our tails
(Good boy)
We certainly do get around
Like Webster's Dictionary, we're Morocco bound
We're off on the road to Morocco
Well look out
Well clear the way
'Cause here we come
Stand by for a concussion
The men eat fire, sleep on nails and saw their wives in half
It seems to me there should be easier ways to get a laugh
(Shall I slip on my big shoes?)
Off on the road to Morocco
Hooray! Well blow a horn, everybody duck
Yeah, it's a green light, come on boys
We may run into Villains but we're not afraid to roam
Because we read the story and we end up safe at home, yeah
Certainly do get around
Like Webster's Dictionary, we're Morocco bound
We certainly do get around
Like a complete set of Shakespeare
That you get in the corner drugstore
For a dollar ninety-eight, we're Morocco bound
Or, like a volume of Omar Khayyam
That you buy in the department store at Christmas time
For your cousin Julia, we're Morocco bound
Looks like a cold, cold winter
Plenty of ice & snow
But we'll keep the love light in our hearts aglow
Looks like a long, long winter
Baby what do we care
As long as we have this love of ours to share
It's gonna be cold outside
It's goona be warm inside
So we'll cuddle up by a cozy fire side by side
Looks like a cold, cold winter
Summer is far away
Until then I'll love you more & more each day
Gonna keep you warm until winter goes away
On a Sunday morn sat a maid forlorn
With her sweetheart by her side,
Through the windowpane, she looked at the rain,
"We must stay home, Joe," she cried.
"There's a picnic, too, at the old Point View,
It's a shame it rained today."
Then the boy drew near, kissed away each tear,
And she heard him softly say:
"Wait till the sun shines, Nellie,
When the clouds go drifting by,
We will be happy, Nellie,
Don't you sigh.
Down Lover's Lane we'll wander,
Sweethearts you and I.
Wait till the sun shines, Nellie,
Bye and bye."
"How I long," she sighed, "for a trolley ride
Just to show my brand new gown."
Then she gazed on high with a gladsome cry
For the sun came shining down.
And she looked so sweet on the big front seat
As the car sped on its way,
And she whispered low,
"Say you're all right, Joe,
You just won my heart today."
I still love to kiss you goodnight
The thrill of you holding me tight
Grows ever sweeter, the long years between
Since first I kissed you when we were sixteen
I still love the touch of your lips
I can't get too much of your lips
I know when your hair is snowy white
I'll still love to kiss you goodnight
Let me tell you a tale that is often told
In the great Celestial Hall
All about an angel only four years old
The littlest angel of all
How all day he would play with a little box
That to others had no words
Oh, but there were treasures in this little box
The treasures he brought from Earth
Just a butterfly with golden wings
A little piece of a hollow log
Two shiny stones from a river bank
And the worn out strap of his faithful dog
Then the angels all heard that the holy child
Would be born in Bethlehem
And they all brought present for the holy child
And each gift was a heavenly gem
Then the littlest angel put his little box
With the presents fine and wrapped
And the littlest angel sat alone and cried
For his gift was so meager and bad
Just a butterfly with golden wings
A little piece of a hollow log
Two shiny stones from a river bank
And the worn out strap of his faithful dog
But the Lord chose the gift of the little box
That the child had blessed with love
And it started glowing that very night
It became the star up above
When you see that star as it shines on high
In the great Celestial Hall
You will know the proudest angel in the sky
Is the littlest angel of all
With his butterfly with golden wings
A little piece of a hollow log
Two shiny stones from a river bank
F O R E !
Straight down the middle
It went straight down the middle
Then it started to hook just a wee wee bit
That's when my caddie lost sight of it
That little white pellet has never been found to this day
But it went straight down the middle like they say
Whack down the fairway
It went smack down the fairway
Then it started to slice just a smidge off line
It headed for two but it bounced off nine
My caddie says long as you're still in the state you're okay
Yes it went straight down the middle quite a ways
The sun was never brighter
The greens were never greener
And I was never keener to play
I heard it came down the middle
It went zing down the middle
Oh the life of a golfer is not all gloom
There's always the lies in the locker room
And I'm in my glory when wrapped in a towel I say
That it went straight down the middle today
Oh the life of a golfer is not all gloom
Though they charge just for listening in the locker room
But I'm in my glory when wrapped in a towel I say
That it went straight down the middle
Where it wound up is a riddle
But it went straight down the middle far away
Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely night dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
And now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song
And beside a garden wall
When stars were bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale told his fairy tale
A paradise where roses bloom
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it always will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love's refrain
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it always will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love's refrain
Would you like to swing on a star
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a mule?
A mule is an animal with long funny ears
Kicks up at anything he hears
His back is brawny but his brain is weak
He's just plain stupid with a stubborn streak
And by the way, if you hate to go to school
You may grow up to be a mule
Or would you like to swing on a star
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a pig?
A pig is an animal with dirt on his face
His shoes are a terrible disgrace
He has no manners when he eats his food
He's fat 'n lazy and extremely rude
But if you don't care a feather or a fig
You may grow up to be a pig
Or would you like to swing on a star
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a fish?
A fish won't do anything, but swim in a brook
He can't write his name or read a book
To fool the people is his only thought
And though he's slippery, he still gets caught
But then if that sort of life is what you wish
You may grow up to be a fish
A new kind of jumped-up slippery fish
And all the monkeys aren't in the zoo
Everyday you'll meet quite a few
So you see it's all up to you
You can be better than you are
Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower
Nature fashioned roses kissed with dew
And then she placed them in a bower
It was the start of you
Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower
I dreamed of paradise for two
You are my paradise completed
You are my dream come true
Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower
Tropic skies are jealous as they shine
I think they're jealous of your blue eyes
Jealous because you're mine
Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower
I dreamed of paradise for two
You are my paradise completed
You are my dream come true
You are my paradise completed
Sweet Leilani
Heavenly flower
Nature fashioned roses kissed with dew
And then she placed them in a bower
It was the start of you
Sweet Leilani
Heavenly flower
I dreamed of paradise for two
You are my paradise completed
You are my dream come true
Sweet Leilani
Heavenly flower
Tropic skies are jealous as they shine
I think they're jealous of your blue eyes
Jealous because you're mine
Sweet Leilani
Heavenly flower
I dreamed of paradise for two
You are my paradise completed
You are my dream come true
You are my paradise completed
You are my dream come true
Sunday, Monday or Tuesday
Wednesday, Thursday or Friday
I want you near
Every day in the year
Oh, won't you tell me when
We will meet again
Sunday, Monday or always
If you're satisfied
I'll be at your side
Sunday, Monday or always
No need to tell me now
What makes the world go 'round
When at the sight of you
My heart begins to pound and pound
And what am I to do
Can't I be with you
Sunday, Monday or always
Always and forever
I must be with you
Beginning Sunday and Monday and then forever
Oh, won't you tell me when
We will meet again
Sunday, Monday or always
If you're satisfied
I'll be at your side
Sunday, Monday or always
No need to tell me now
What makes the world go 'round
When at the sight of you
My heart begins to pound, pound, pound
What am I to do
Can't I be with you
The light-hearted gay
Kind of charm you display
That's for me.
The wonderful sly
Little trick with your eye
That's for me.
What a feather in my hat
If I could gratify your wish;
Do you like the movies,
Or what is your favorite dish?
The tilt of your chin,
When you chuckle or grin
That's for me
You might as well know
That wherever you go,
There I'll be
Just to make sure you keep your heart
Alone and fancy free.
No one else can have it; that's for me
We used to dwell in love's own palace
A palace of dreams come true
Now that we're through I bear no malice
Though we've called it a day
All I can say is
Tanks for all the lovely delights
I found in your embrace
I'm thankful though I know it's ending all too soon
And thanks for unforgettable nights, I never can replace
And memories that linger like a haunting tune
It is better to have loved you, dear and lost
Than never to have loved at all
Yes, it's better, for no matter what the cost
I held the world in sway, an emperor for a day
And thanks again for taking me on the road to paradise
We lost our road but still I must convey our thanks
It is better to have loved you, dear and lost
Than never to have loved at all
Yes, it's better, for no matter what the cost
I held the world in sway, an emperor for a day
And thanks again for taking me on the road to paradise
You came I was alone
I should have known
Your temptations
You smile gloring me on
My heart was gone
Your temptations
It would be thrilling
If you were willing
If you can never be
If you be on your born to be kissed
I can't resist your temptations
And I am yours here is my heart
Take it and say we'll never part
I'm just a slave only a slave for
Your temptations
For your born to be kissed
I can't resist your temptations
And I am yours, here is my heart
Take it and say we'll never part
I'm just a slave only a slave for
When two guys pull together it's teamwork.
In foul or sunny weather it's teamwork.
What does it take to make any business climb?
You'll find it takes teamwork every time.
Incidentally, your jokes will kill the yokels it's teamwork.
I love your hokey vocals it's teamwork.
Like Fred Astaire and Ginger yet twice as chic
We'll give them that teamwork, cheek to cheek.
Here we are, just like in Zanzibar
Still nothin, still a star.
That's quite a stab from old flab.
They always pay us plenty for teamwork.
We split it 80-20 -- that's teamwork?
(Yours is tax free.)
When others start to part and go off the beam.
Like siamese brothers we'll be on each other's team.
No fuss about the billing it's teamwork
The smallest type is thrilling it's teamwork.
Although we hold each other in low esteem
We're loaded with teamwork!
Hey now!
What's life without teamwork?
Go boy!
Unless you got teamwork there's no team.
There's a famous thoroughfare, I've heard collegiates say
I'm not referring to Piccadilly
It's not 42nd Street, it's not the Rue De La Paix
Nor is it Market Street in Philly
Ask most any college romeo
To complete your education you must go
Down the Old Ox road
Though you'll never find out where it is
By looking in maps
With a little investigation you'll discover perhaps
That this old tradition's not a place
But just a proposition called
The Old Ox Road
The Old Ox Road
Ox Road could be any romantic spot
A country highway or a moonlit yacht
It could be in the parlor when the lights are burning low
It could be in the movie in the very last row
Down the Old Ox Road
In the magic of the moonlight you are filled with delight
While the leaves that flutter o'er you
Whisper lover tonight
Why keep waiting and debating
When you know it's time for mating
On the Old Ox Road
On the Old Ox Road
Of all the world's famous singers that I have ever seen
On the moving screen
Lawrence Tibbett and Nelson Eddy
Donald Nobis and Morton Downey
Kenny Baker and Rudy Vallee
But the crooning prodigy is Bing Crosby
Bing has a way of singing with his very heart and soul
Which captivates the world
His millions of listeners never fail to rejoice
At his golden voice
They love to hear his la di da di da
So sweetly with such harmony
Thrilling the world with his melody
I wonder if you heard him singing the song
May I Be the One to Say I
I wonder if you heard again
Everytime It Rains It Rains Pennies from Heaven
But Love Thy Neighbor was a most thrilling song
And Get Along Little Dogie Get Along
Unanimously three cheers for
I wish you a Merry Christmas;
I wish you a Merry Christmas;
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding and bring it out here.
We won't go until we got some;
We won't go until we got some;
We won't go until we got some, so bring some out here
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding and bring it out here.
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus lane
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
Are pullin' on the reins
Bells are ringin', children singin'
All is merry and bright
Hang your stockings and say your prayers
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight!
(Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus),
(Right down Santa Claus lane)
(He's got a bag that is filled with toys)
(For boys and girls again)
(Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle),
(Oh what a beautiful sight)
(So jump in bed and cover your head)
('Cause Santa Claus comes tonight, tonight)
('Cause Santa Claus comes tonight)
(Happy days), happy times, (listen to the bells and shine)
{As Santa Clause comes your way, today}
{Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus],
{Right down Santa Claus lane}
{He doesn't care if you're rich or poor}
{For he loves you just the same}
Santa Claus knows we're all God's chil'en
That makes everything right
[So fill your hearts with Christmas cheer]
{'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight, tonight}
{'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight}, stand bye
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
[Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus],
[Right down Santa Claus lane]
[He'll come around when the chimes ring out]
[Then it's Christmas morn again]
Peace on earth will come to all
If we just follow the light
(Lets give thanks to the lord above)
{'Cause Santa Clause comes tonight}
(Happy days), happy times, (listen to the bells and shine)
Oh the Murphy's gave a party just about a week ago
Everything was plentiful, the Murphy's they're not slow
They treated us like gentlemen, we tried to act the same
But only for what happened, well it was an awful shame
When Mrs. Murphy dished the chowder out
She fainted on the spot
She found a pair of overalls
In the bottom of the pot
Tim Nolan he got rippin' mad
His eyes were bulgin' out
He jumped up on the PI-A-NO
And loudly he did shout
Oh, who threw the overalls in Mrs Murphy's chowder
Nobody spoke, so he shouted all the louder
It's an Irish trick that's true
I can lick the mick that threw
The overalls in Mrs Murphy's chowder
So we dragged the pants from out the soup and laid them on the floor
Each man swore upon his breast he'd ne'er seen them before
They were plastered up with mortar and were worn out at the knee
They'd had their many ups and downs as we could plainly see
when Mrs Murphy she came to she began to cry and pout
She'd had them in the wash that day and forgot to take them out
Tim Nolan he excused himself for what he'd said that night
so we put music to the words and sang with all our might
Oh, who threw the overalls in Mrs Murphy's chowder
Nobody spoke so we shouted all the louder
It's an Irish trick that's true
I can lick the mick that threw
You're as hard to hold as quicksilver
When you kiss and run away
I dream you're mine and then as quick as quicksilver
All my dreams are led astray
I keep chasing you till I'm facing you
And embracing you with all your charms
Then you slip through my fingers just like quicksilver
Right into someone else's arms
Seems like I am having trouble with you
And I don't know what I'm gonna do
Seems like you're fickle, fickle as can be
And your fickle ways have got me up a tree
You're as hard to hold as quicksilver
When you kiss and run away
I dream you're mine and then as quick as quicksilver
All my dreams are led astray
I keep chasing you till I'm facing you
And embracing you with all your charms
Then you slip through my fingers just like quicksilver
Right into someone else's arms
Then you slip through my fingers just like quicksilver

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Shows signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
The stars at night, are big and bright,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The prairie sky is wide and high,
Deep in the heart of Texas.
The sage in bloom is like perfume,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
Reminds me of, the one I love,
Deep in the heart of Texas.
The coyotes wail, along the trail,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The rabbits rush, around the brush,
Deep in the heart of Texas.
The cowboys cry, "Ki-yip-pee-yi,"
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The dogies bawl, and bawl and bawl,
Answer me, oh, my love
Just what sin have I been guilty of?
Tell me, how I came to lose your love?
Please answer me, sweetheart
You were mine yesterday
I believed that love was here to stay
Won't you tell me where I've gone astray?
Please answer me, my love
If you're happier without me
I'll try not to care
But if you still think about me
Please listen to my prayer
You must know I've been true
Won't you say that we can start anew?
In my sorrow now I turn to you
I hear music when I look at you;
A beautiful theme of ev'ry
Dream I ever knew.
Down deep in my heart I hear it play.
I feel it start, then melt away.
I hear music when I touch your hand,
A beautiful melody
From some enchanted land.
Down deep in my heart, I hear it say,
Is this the day?
I alone have heard this lovely strain,
I alone have heard this glad refrain,
Must it be forever inside of me,
Why can't I let it go,
Why can't I let you know,
Why can't I let you know the song
My heart would sing?
That beautiful rhapsody
Of love and youth and spring,
The music is sweet,
The words are true
Hello It's Pablo, your brother Pablo
Sorry for calling this late, but it
Suddenly hit me that I miss you so much
And you're to far away from me.
I never told you
How much I love you
And everybody needs a brother like you
So goodnight dear brother
Goodnight sweet brother
And thank you brother for helping me out goodbye
Hello It's Pablo,
Sorry for calling again
Do you remember when I dreamt about witches
Woke you up asking
If I could sleep in your bed
And you said there are plenty of space
So goodnight dear brother
Goodnight sweet brother
And take my hand if you dream about witches goodnight
And my brother went to Stockholm
And I went crazy
I thought I could make it all by my self
But things have changed slowly how I'm in a mess
I wish you could bless me like you blessed me before
So goodnight dear brother
Goodnight sweet brother
And thank you brother for helping me out so
Goodnight dear brother
Goodnight sweet brother
It was down where fisher folk gathered
I wandered far from the town
I heard a fisher girl singin'
And this refrain was her song
Red sails in the sunset way out on the sea
Oh carry my loved one home safely to me
He sailed at the dawning, all day I've been blue
Red sails in the sunset, I'm trusting in you
Swift wings you must borrow, make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow and he goes sailing no more
Red sails in the sunset way out on the sea
Oh carry my loved one home safely to me
Swift wings you must borrow, make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow and he goes sailing no more
Red sails in the sunset way out on the sea
Do you remember one September afternoon
I stood with you and listened to a wedding tune,
And didn't I go with you on your honeymoon?
Remember me?
Do you recall a cottage small upon a hill
Where ev'ry day I had to pay another bill?
And if I'm not mistaken, dear, I pay them still
Remember me?
I can see that little angel on your knee
Can't you see, He kinda sorta looks like me
For I'm the boy whose only joy is loving you
Who worries till he hurries home when day is thru
And I'm the guy you give you goodnight kisses to
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue,
Your hair is red, your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you, oh
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
There ain't no gal as true as my sweet Sioux City Sue.
I drove a herd of cattle out
From old Nebraska way
That's how I come to be in the state of I-o-way.
I met a gal and asked her how
She said "Indeed I do"
I asked her what her name was and she said
"Sioux City Sue"
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue,
Your hair is red, your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you, oh
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
There ain't no gal as true as my sweet Sioux City Sue.
I drove a herd of cattle out from old Nebraska way
That's how I come to be in the state of I O way
I met a gal in I O way, her eyes were big and blue
I asked her what her name was and she said, "Sioux City Sue"
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
Your hair is red, your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
There ain't no gal as true as my sweet Sioux City Sue
I asked her if she had a ball she said, "Yes quite a few"
But still I started callin' her my sweet Sioux City Sue
The first time that I stole a kiss, I caught her stealing too
I asked her did she love me, she said, "Indeed I do"
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
Your hair is red, your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
There ain't no gal as true as my sweet Sioux City Sue
Now I admittin' I owe, I owe a lot to you
'Cause I come from the Brasket to find Sioux City Sue
I'm gonna rope and tie her up, I'll use my ol' lasso
I'm fixing to put my brand on sweet Sioux City Sue
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
Your hair is red, your eyes are blue
I'd swap my horse and dog for you
Sioux City Sue, Sioux City Sue
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Good tidings to you
And all of your kin
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year
We all know that Santa's coming
We all know that Santa's coming
We all know that Santa's coming
And soon will be here
Good tidings to you
And all of your kin
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Up here in the land of the hot-dog stand
The atom bomb and the Good Humor Man
We think our South American neighbors are grand
We love 'em to beat the band
South America, baba-loo, ay-yi-yi, baba-loo
One favor you can do, ay-yi-yi, you can do
You beautiful lands below
Don't know what you began
To put it plainly, I'm tired of shakin'
To that Pan-American plan
Take back your Samba, ay!, your Rumba, ay!, your Conga, ay-yi-yi!
I can't keep movin', ay!, my chassis, ay!, any longer, ay-yi-yi!
Now maybe Latins, ay!, in their middles, ay!, are built stronger, ay-yi-yi!
But all this takin' to the quakin' and this makin' with the shakin' leaves me achin', olé!
First shake around and settle there
Then you shake around and settle here
Then you shake around and settle there
That's enough, that's enough
Take it back, my spine's outta-whack
There's a strange click-clack
In the back of my Sacroiliac
Take back your Conga, ay!, your Samba, ay!, your Rumba, ay-yi-yi!
Why can't you send us, ay!, a less strenu-, ay!, -ous number, ay-yi-yi!
I got more bumps now, ay!, than on a, ay!, cucumber, ay-yi-yi!
While all those Latin drums are cloppin', like a Jumpin' Jack I'm hoppin' without stoppin', olé!
South America, take it away
First you shake around and settle there (where?)
Then you shake around and settle here (oh, there)
And then you shake around and settle there (why Bing!)
That's enough, that's enough
Take it back, my spine's outta-whack
There's a strange click-clack
In the back of my Sacroiliac
Oh, my achin' back
Take back your Conga, ay!, your Samba, ay!, your Rumba, ay-yi-yi!
Bring back the old days, ay!, of dancing I remember, ay-yi-yi!
My hips are cracking, I am shrieking "Ay-Carumba!", ay-yi-yi!
I got a wriggle and a diddle and a jiggle like a fiddle in my middle, olé!
This fancy swishin' imposition wears out all of my transmission ammunition, olé!
Though I like neighborly relations all these crazy new gyrations try my patience, olé!
South America, take it away
Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
'Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?'
Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!
Oh, I'm packin' my grip and I'm leavin' today
'Cause I'm takin' a trip, California way
I'm gonna settle down and never more roam
And make the San Fernando Valley my home
I'll forget my sins, yes, yes, I'll be makin' new friends
Where the West begins and the sunset ends
'Cause I've decided where yours truly really oughta be
And it's the San Fernando Valley for me
I think that I'm safe in statin', she will be waitin'
When my lonely journey is done
And kindly old Reverend Thomas made us a promise
He will make the two of us one
So, I'm hittin' the trail to the cow country
You can forward my mail, care of R.F.D.
I'm gonna settle down and never more roam
And make the San Fernando Valley my home
I think that I'm safe in statin', she's gonna be waitin'
When my lonely journey is done
And kindly old Reverend Thomas made us a promise
He will make the two of us one
So, I'm hittin' the trail to the cow country
You can forward my mail, care of R.F.D.
I'm gonna settle down and never more roam
And make the San Fernando Valley my home
And make the San Fernando Valley my home
In the shadows let me come and sing to you
Let me dream a song that I can bring to you
Take me in your arms and let me cling to you
Let me linger long, let me live my song
In the winter let me bring the spring to you
Let me feel that I mean everything to you
Love's old song will be new
In the shadows when I come and sing to you
Shadows on the wall I can see them fall
Here and there everywhere
Silhouettes in blue dancing in the dew
Here am I, where are you?
In the winter let me bring the spring to you
Let me feel that I mean everything to you
Love's old song will be new
In the shadows when I come and sing to you, dear
Sierra Sue, I'm sad and lonely
The rocks and rills are lonely too
Sierra Sue, I want you only
No one but you, Sierra Sue
The roses weep, their tears are falling
The gentle doves no longer coo
Oh, can't you hear my sad heart calling
A fine romance, with no kisses
A fine romance, my friend this is
We should be like a
Couple of hot tomatoes
But you're as cold as
Yesterday's mashed potatoes
A fine romance, you won't nestle
A fine romance, you won't wrestle
I might as well play bridge
With my old maid aunt
I haven't got a chance
This is a fine romance
Yes a fine romance, with no kisses
A fine romance, my friend this is
We two should be like clams in a dish of chowder
But we just fizz like parts of seidlitz powder
Yes a fine romance, with no glitches
A fine romance, with no glitches
Just as hard to land as the "Isle de France"
I haven't got a chance
This is a fine romance
A fine romance, my good fellow
You take romance, an' I'll take jello
You're calmer than the seals
In the Arctic Ocean
At least they flap their fins
To express emotion
A fine romance with no quarrels
With no insults and all morals
I've never mussed the crease
In your blue serge pants
I never get the chance
This is a fine romance
Yes, a fine romance, my dear judges
Two old fogies who need crutches
True love should have the thrills that a healthy crime does
Oh we don't have the thrills the march of time has
A fine romance, my good woman
My strong aged in the wood, woman
You never give the orchids I sent a chance
No you like cactus plants
This is a fine romance
A fine romance, my dear duchess
Two old fogies who need crutches
True love should have the thrills that a healthy crime has
You know Louie we don't have half the thrills
That the march of time has
You're telling me
Fine romance, my very good woman
My strong aged in the wood woman
You never give the orchids I sent a glance
No I prefer cactus plants
If you ever go across the sea to Ireland
Then maybe at the closing of your day
You will sit and watch the moon rise over Claddagh
And watch the barefoot gossoons at their play
Just to hear again the ripple of the trout stream
The women in the meadows making hay
And to sit beside a turf fire in the cabin
And see the sun go down on Galway Bay
For the breezes blowing over the seas from Ireland
Are perfumed by the heather as they blow
And the women in the uplands diggin' prates
Speak a language that the strangers do not know
For the strangers came and tried to teach us their way
They scorned us just for being what we are
But they might as well go chasing after moonbeams
Or light a penny candle from a star
And if there is going to be a life hereafter
And if I am sure there's going to be
I will ask my God to let me make my heaven
Would you like to swing on a star
carry moonbeams home in a jar
and be better off than you are
or would you rather be a mule
A mule is an animal with long funny ears
he kicks up at anything he hears
His back is brawny but his brain is weak
he's just plain stupid with a stubborn streak
and by the way if you hate to go to school
You may grow up to be a mule
Oh would you like to swing on a star
carry moonbeams home in a jar
and be better off than you are
or would you rather be a pig
A pig is an animal with dirt on his face
his shoes are a terrible disgrace
He has no manners when he eats his food
He's fat and lazy and extremely rude
But if you don't care a feather or a fig
you may grow up to be a pig
Oh would you like to swing on a star
carry moonbeams home in a jar
and be better off than you are
or would you rather be a fish
A fish won't do anything but swim in a brook
he can't write his name or read a book
to fool the people is his only thought
and though he's slippery he still gets caught
but if then that sort of life is what you wish
you may grow up to be a fish
(music)
a new kind of jumped up slippery fish
And all the monkeys aren't in the zoo
everyday you see quite a few
so you see it's all up to you,
you could be better than you are
you could be swinging on a star
You've got to ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
E-lim-i-nate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mr. In-Between
You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith, or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
(Andrews sisters:)
To illustrate
His last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do,
Just when everything looked so down?
(Bing:)
Man, they said we better
Ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
E-lim-i-nate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mr. In-Between
No, do not mess with Mr. In-Between!
Do you hear me, hmm?
(Andrews sister:)
Oh, listen to me chillin' and-uh you will hear
About eliminatin' of the negative and a' accent on a' positive!
(Bing:)
And gather round me children if you will and...
And sit tight while I start reviewin' the attitude of doin' right.
(Andrews sisters:)
You gotta ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
E-lim-i-nate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mr. In-Between
(Both:)
You got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Then
Otherwise, otherwise
Pandemonium liable to walk upon the scene
To illustrate (well illustrate!)
My last remark (You got the floor)
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they say (What did they say)
Say, when everything looked so down?
Man, they said we better
Ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
E-lim-i-nate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mr. In-Between
No, don't mess with Mr. In-Between!

It's not the glow you feel, when snow appears
It's not the Christmas card, you've sent for years
Not the joyful sound, when sleigh bells ring (ring ring ring)
Or the merry songs, children sing
Yeah the little gift you send, on Christmas day
Will not bring back the friend, you turned away
So may I suggest, the secret of Christmas (the secret of Christmas)
It's not the things you do, at Christmas time
But the Christmas things you do all year through
Now is the hour when we must say goodbye
Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea
While you're away, oh then, remember me
When you return, you'll find me waiting here
Sunset glow fades in the west
Night o'er the valley is creeping
Birds cuddle down in their nest
Soon all the world will be sleeping
Now is the hour when we must goodbye
Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea
While you're away, oh then, remember me
When you return, you'll find me waiting here
{Verse 1}
Won't you play some simple melody
Like my mother sang to me
One with a good old-fashioned harmony
Play some simple melody
{Verse 2}
Musical demon, set your honey a-dreamin', won't you play me some rag
Just change that classical nag to some sweet beautiful drag
If you will play from a copy of a tune that is choppy you'll get all my applause
And that is simply because I wanna listen to rag
{Verse 3A}
Play for me
That good old-fashioned harmony
Oh, won't you play for me
A simple melody
{Verse 3B}
Play from a copy of a tune that is choppy
You'll get all of my applause because
I wanna rag it
Ragtime melody

You came to me from out of nowhere
You took my heart and found it free
Wonderful dreams, wonderful schemes from nowhere
Made every hour sweet as a flower to me
And if you should go back to your nowhere
Leaving me with a memory
I'll always wait for your return out of nowhere
Hoping you'll bring your love to me
When I least expected, kindly faith directed
You to make each dream of mine come true
And if it's clear or raining, there is no explaining
Things just happened and so did you
You came to me from out of nowhere
You took my heart and you found it free
Wonderful dreams, wonderful schemes from nowhere
Made every hour sweet as a flower to me
And if you should go back to your nowhere
Leaving me with, with my memory
I'll always wait for your return out of nowhere
You came to me from out of nowhere,
you took my heart and found it free.
Wonderful dreams, wonderful schemes from nowhere
made every hour sweet as a flower for me.
If you should go back to your nowhere,
leaving me with a memory,
I'll always wait for your return out of nowhere,
hoping you'll bring your love to me.
Don't throw bouquets at me
Don't please my folks too much
Don't laugh at my jokes too much
People will say we're in love
Don't sigh and gaze at me
Your sighs are so like mine
And your eyes mustn't glow like mine
People will say we're in love
Don't start collecting things
Give me my rose and my glove
Well, sweetheart, they're suspecting things
A long time ago
A million years BC
The best things in life
Were absolutely free.
But no one appreciated
A sky that was always blue.
And no one congratulated
A moon that was always new.
So it was planned that they would vanish now and them
And you must pay before you get them back again.
That's what storms were made for
And you shouldn't be afraid for
Every time it rains it rains
Pennies from heaven.
Don't you know each cloud contains
Pennies from heaven.
You'll find yor fortune falling
All over town.
Be sure that your umbrella is upside down.
Trade them for a package of sunshine and flowers.
If you want the things you love
You must have showers.
So when you hear it thunder
Don't run under a tree.
Lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packin' mama
Lay that pistol down
Oh, drinkin' beer in a cabaret
Was I havin' fun
Until one night she caught me right
And now I'm on the run
Oh, lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packin' mama
Lay that pistol down
Oh, I'll sing you every night Bing
And I'll woo you every day
I'll be your regular mama
And I'll put that gun away
Oh, lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packin' mama
Lay that thing down before it goes off and hurts somebody!
Oh, she kicked out my windshield
And she hit me over the head
She cussed and cried and said I lied
And she wished that I was dead
Oh, lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packin' mama
Lay that pistol down
We're three tough gals
From deep down Texas way
We got no pals
They don't like the way we play
We're a rough rootin' tootin' shootin' trio
But you ought to see my sister Cleo
She's a terror make no error
But there ain't no nicer terror
Here's what we tell her
Lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packin' mama
Lay that pistol down
Pappy made a batch of corn
The Revenuers came
The draugh was slow
So now they know
You can't do that to Mame
Oh, lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packin' mama
Lay that pistol down
Oh, singing songs in a cabaret
Was I havin' fun
Until one night it didn't seem right
And now I'm on the run
Oh, lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packin' mama
Lay that pistol down
Oh, pistol packin' mama
Oh, Please.
Lend your little ear to my pleas
Lend a ray of cheer to my pleas
Tell me that you love me too.
Please
Let me hold you tight in my arms
I could find delight in your charms
Every night my whole life through.
Your eyes reveal that you have the soul of
An angel white as snow.
How long must I play the role of
A gloomy romeo?
Oh, Please.
Say you're not intending to please
Speed that happy ending and please
Tell me that you love me too.
(Bing whistles and da da dees)
Your eyes reveal that you have the soul of
An angel white as snow.
How long must I play the role of
A gloomy romeo?
Oh, please
Say you're not intending to tease
Speed that happy ending and please,
Tell me that you love me too.
Oh, please
Lend your little ear to my pleas
Lend a ray of cheer to my pleas
Tell me that you love me too
Please
Let me hold you tight in my arms
I could find delight in your charms
Every night my whole life through
Your eyes reveal that you have the soul of
An angel white as snow
How long must I play the role of
A gloomy Romeo?
Oh, please
Say you're not intending to tease
Speed that happy ending and please
Tell me that you love me too
Your eyes reveal that you have the soul of
An angel white as snow
How long must I play the role of
A gloomy Romeo?
Oh, please
Say you're not intending to tease
Speed that happy ending and please
And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky the little stars climb
Always reminding me that we're apart
You wander down the lane and far away
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by
Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely night dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you when our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song
Beside a garden wall
When stars are bright, you are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
A paradise where roses bloom
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
My stardust melody
I don't care where I'm goin'
Just as long as I'm with you
Put it there, pal. Put it there
I'll be just like your horses
And I'll stick to you like glue
Put it there, pal. Put it there
I'm glad you're fooling Pepsodent (oh, that happy snow)
Stealing all that cash
I hear your show on Thursdays (nice, huh?)
What a lot of eggs you smash
Well at least I don't depend upon
Colonna's big moustache (oh, he gave me the brush)
You're faithful and you're fair
Put it there (skin me Dad, skin me)
You've got that something in your voice
So right for selling cheese (hustle a lot of the stuff)
Put it there, pal. Put it there (put that back in the bowl)
You know, I think your jokes are great (really?)
It's just that folks are hard to please (they're just snobs, that all)
Put it there, pal. Put it there
Your face could make a fortune
Just your nose should make a lot (how do you siphon?)
I like the way you wear those gaudy-colored shirts you've got, boy!
The only time a rainbow ever covered up a pot
You're such a perfect square (oh-oh, is that on the paper?)
(where?, where?)
Shall we dance?
Sorry, I have my heavy underwear on
Oh, just to once around, to the adrenalin, huh?
Well, OK, if I lead
My colleague, my crony, my cohort, my friend
Companions, confederates, chums to the end
Like meat and potatoes, or salt and tomatoes
Boy, what a blend
Don't put it in the paper (don't worry about me)
Don't put it on the air (I'll finish it)
Don't put it in your pipe
Put it there
Confidentially, do you like this as well as singing?
Leave your name with the girl when you go out
We may get to you for some crowd noises
Be sure and call me
All right
{Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea}
Oh, carry my loved one home safely to me
{She sailed at the dawning, all day I've been blue}
Red sails in the sunset, I'm trusting in you
Swift wings you must borrow
Make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow
And she goes sailing no more
{Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea}
Oh, carry my loved one home safely to me
Swift wings you must borrow
Make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow
And she goes sailing no more
{Red sails in the sunset}
Way out on the sea (ooh-wee-ooh, wee-ooh)
Oh, carry my loved one
{Home safely to me}
