History of MOS 6502 - Jason Dagit
Speaker Bio:
Jason Dagit is a research engineer at Galois. He received a M.S. in Computer Science from Oregon State University in 2009. He has been active in the Haskell community since 2005 and he is currently a member of the Haskell.org committee. His areas of interest include functional programming, computer graphics, and most recently hardware design. He enjoys working in the space between pure research and industrial practice.
Description of my talk:
The MOS 6502 might be the most historically significant processor for one reason: It fueled the PC revolution. You have probably used a device with a 6502, and maybe even programmed one, bu

6502 Assembly for the Atari 2600 (Jack)
The Atari 2600 was the first successful home video game console. It also has a well-deserved reputation as being devilishly difficult to program. In this talk, Jack explains some of the system's features and limitations, and talks about some patterns used in developing a game for this ancient console.

Buri: a homebrew 6502 computer - part 1
A little tour of my homebrew 6502-based computer. It's at a very early stage at the moment being hard-wired into free-running mode. The video shows the computer and a companion "monitor" board which allows examination of the data and address buses along with single-cycling and single-stepping the processor. The monitor board will also be able to assert values on the bus to allow in-system programming of the EEPROM.

I've now added the hardware to the supervisor/monitor board to allow diect reading/writing to RAM. With some re-wiring one can also use this to program the PROM. This demo shows uploading data to the microcomputer and running code from ROM. We verify the code is working by examining the screen-buffer memory and checking that the processor is looping in the right region of the ROM.
Code and schematics: https://github.com/rjw57/buri-6502-hardware. The state of the repo as of this video is tagged as "0.0.2".

Buri: a homebrew 6502 computer - part 3
An OS, an OS! There's an OS. I've added a very simple command-line based OS to Buri which is just enough to load programs over the serial connection and run them. Talking of which, there's a serial connection. There's also GPIO pins. I code up the ever-popular "blinking LED" demo in assembly language and in BASIC. Oh, and BASIC has been ported.
