About the Level 3 Award in Education and Training The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a qualification designed to give people the skills they need to provide adult education, either in an academic or a workplace setting. Carlton Training offers the chance to study for this qualification over four days, in a group setting. Approved by City & Guilds, this course includes expert tuition, assessment and the opportunity to practise new skills in a supportive environment. Studying for the Level 3 Award There are two ways to study for the Level 3 Award in Education and Training with Carlton Training. The first is to enrol as an individual on a course at one of our training centres. The second is to arrange for us to travel to your workplace to train a group of your staff at once. Remember this can prove to be more convenient for you, it also saves money and means staff can benefit from discussing what they have learned with colleagues after the course is complete. Group learning increases motivation and leads to a higher rate of success. The structured environment it provides makes it easier for trainees to focus and means there is always someone there to provide help and support. What the Level 3 Award covers This course equips trainees with the skills they need to plan and deliver interesting lessons. It examines different presentation methods and prepares trainees to make good decisions about which techniques will be most appropriate in different situations. It also looks at different kinds of teaching resources and how to use them, and trainees will learn how to assess the progress of the people they train. The course is designed to provide flexible skills that can be used in a variety of teaching or training environments. It supports training that is fully inclusive and can be adjusted to the needs of learners. Theory assignments are required as part of the course. Trainees examine their own progress, improve their skills as learners and assess how they might use their new skills in the future. The course includes micro-teaching sessions where trainees get the opportunity to teach short sample lessons to their classmates on the course These give trainees the chance to use the skills they have learned by teaching in a comfortable and supportive environment. s. This isn't just an opportunity for assessment and feedback - it also helps to build confidence and give trainees the assurance they need to get out there and do it for real. Requirements for study No special qualifications are required to take the Level 3 Award in Education and Training course, but trainees will need to be suitably qualified in the subjects they plan to teach, even if that simply means being ready to pass on workplace skills. After qualifying with this award, which has replaced the PTLLS Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector award, some people may wish to progress to a CTLLS qualification, extending their options as a trainer or teacher.
