The average attendance at the 2 Manchester clubs in the Premier League is roughly the same as the average attendance at the top 250 clubs in non-league. The Premier League tweeted this week that they’ve helped Conference sides with over £2.4m in funding since 2010, but that’s a drop in the ocean - nay, the spray off a drop in the ocean - compared to the revenue the highest level in British football produces every year. Non-League Day started in 2010 as founder James Doe spotted an opportunity - a gap in the top-level football calendar - to get fans of traditionally bigger clubs out to their local pitches and stadia to support their local amateur sides.
