The products address a gap in the market for ultra-low cost, everyday consumer printing without the need for ink cartridges. Epson’s EcoTank products represent a new printing model for the consumer and small office market. The cartridge-free printing strategy will complement Epson’s traditional ink cartridge-based business model. The overall printing cost reduction has been made possible by a number of factors including the removal of costs associated with producing, packaging and shipping ink cartridges – savings that can be passed back to the customer. By including two years’ worth of ink ‘in the box’ , the printers are able to print up to 4,000 pages in black and 6,500 pages in colour**, before additional ink is required. * Total savings for printing 4.000 pages in black and 6.500 pages in colour, including hardware price.
