UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Connie Britton, visits Kenya projects
UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, Connie Britton, arrived in Kenya for the start of her official visit to the continent. Britton witneseed first hand UNDP’s work and impact on issue of on the Devolution and Accountability, Climate Change, Environmental Conservation, Disaster Risk Reduction and Economic Empowerment. In all of these areas of work Britton was interested in how gender equality is weaved into the programs.

Mitigating Impact of Climate Change in Kenya’s Arid Lands
The KACCAL project targeted Mumoni and Kyuso District in the Arid county of Kitui, to address the problem of aridity which has traditionally affected poor rural communities, who are vulnerable to recurrent drought and to the long-term impacts of climate variability and change. The project also sought to work with the community to enhance their capacity to adopt to recurring drought and floods that often affects the area.
