Night Driver

Night Driver is an arcade game developed by Ted Michon and licensed by Atari Inc for release in the United States in October, 1976. Originally licensed by Atari from German firm Micronetics whom Ted Michon had sold the game to and had released the game in 1977 as Night Racer, Ted's version was in turn inspired by the earlier discrete coin-op Nürburgring 1. It is considered one of the earliest first-person racing video games, and is commonly believed to be one of the first published games to display real-time first-person graphics.

Gameplay

The player controls a car which must be driven along a road at nighttime without crashing into the sides of the road as indicated by road side reflectors. The game is controlled with a single pedal for gas, a wheel for steering and a four-selection lever for gear shifting. The coin operated game had a choice of three difficulties, novice, pro, and expert, from which the player could choose at game start. The turns were sharper and more frequent on the more difficult tracks. As play progresses, the road gets narrower and more winding.

Night

Night or nighttime (sp. night-time or night time) is the period of time between the sunset and the sunrise when the Sun is below the horizon.

This occurs after dusk. The opposite of night is day (or "daytime" to distinguish it from "day" as used for a 24-hour period). The start and end points of time of a night vary based on factors such as season, latitude, longitude and timezone.

At any given time, one side of the planet Earth is bathed in light from the Sun (the daytime) and the other side of the Earth is in the shadow caused by the Earth blocking the light of the sun. This shadow is called the umbra. Natural illumination is still provided by a combination of moonlight, planetary light, starlight, diffuse zodiacal light, gegenschein, and airglow. In some circumstances, bioluminescence, aurorae, and lightning can provide some illumination. The glow provided by artificial illumination is sometimes referred to as light pollution because it can interfere with observational astronomy and ecosystems.

Into the Future

Into the Future is the ninth studio album by the American hardcore punk band Bad Brains, which was released on November 20, 2012 on Megaforce Records. It is a tribute dedication to Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, a longtime friend of the band who died of cancer six months before its release, and produced their previous album Build a Nation.

Reception

So far, Into the Future has received positive reviews. Fred Thomas of AllMusic gave the album a positive review, saying that the album, like Build a Nation, "attempted a return to the ragged glory of the band's early speed-demon hardcore days, and probably came as close as possible given the years and whether they'd seen since ... turning out 13 new jams that volley between dub-styled reggae and the kind of loud-and-fast hardcore with funk and metal undertones that they've been perfecting for ages." However, he adds that "it's not quite as loud and just a little bit less fast than before."

What You're On

"What You're On" is a dance-pop song written by James Ash, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Steve Davis, and produced by Ash for the Rogue Traders's third studio album Better in the Dark (2007). Co-writer, Ash, states the song deals with addiction. It was as released as the album's third single in Australia as a digital download on 15 March 2008 and as a CD single on 19 April 2008.

Band member and one of the song's writers, Ash, states that the song is very special to the band and "it seems to connect with people quite deeply." He also states that the song is a highlight from the album and it allowed him to be "indulgent" which is how he imagined it. The band's lead singer, Bassingthwaighte, states "this [song] seems to me to be saying 'You have issues but you can get over it', so I prefer to be realistic than stylistic. I think about someone I know when I sing it." This is the last single with Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

Promotion and chart performance

"What You're On" made its debut into the Australian ARIA Singles Chart on 28 April 2008, at a poor position of number thirty. It continued to slide down the charts until it dropped of the ARIA Top 50 at number 48 after only its 7th week. It reached number eighteen on the Physical Singles Chart, and debuted at number nine on the Australian Chart.
