Anti-war protest at ANZ – 12 May

About 100 people attended a picket organised by the Melbourne Stop the War Coalition. ‘ANZ has a $6 million stake in a consortium led by US bank JP Morgan Chase called the Iraq Trade Bank’, explained Stop the War’s Margarita Windisch, ‘which uses stolen oil credits to lend money to foreign companies to buy stolen resources. This is only possible because of the brutal occupation that has already cost the lives of more than 100,000 Iraqi civilians’.
