Philip Haas (born 1954) is an American artist, screenwriter and filmmaker, perhaps best known for his 2012 sculpture exhibition "The Four Seasons" and his 1995 film Angels and Insects.
He began his career as a documentary film maker, directing ten profiles of unusual artists through the early 1990s with the theme "Magicians of the Earth," commissioned by the Centre Georges Pompidou.
His feature films include Angels and Insects, set in Victorian England, which was nominated for an Academy Award and the Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or, Up at the Villa, an adaptation of the W. Somerset Maugham novella, starring Sean Penn, Anne Bancroft and Kristin Scott Thomas, The Situation, a political thriller set in Iraq, released in 2006, and the highly regarded The Music of Chance (1993).
In 2008, the Sonnabend Gallery of New York featured a film installation called The Butcher's Shop, commissioned by the Kimbell Art Museum, in which Haas recreated the space depicted in Annibale Carracci’s 1582 painting of the same name. In 2010, he expanded this series to include works by Ensor and Tiepolo. His exhibition of film installations at the Kimbell Art Museum, "Butchers, Dragons, Gods and Skeletons," was listed by TIME magazine as one of the top ten museum shows of 2009
The Four Seasons, originally referring to the traditional seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter, may refer to:
Haas, also de Haas, is a German and Dutch surname, usually from Hase or de Haas, the German and Dutch words for "hare". Notable people with the surname include the following:
Philip may refer to:
An art museum or art gallery is a building or space for the exhibition of art, usually visual art. Museums can be public or private, but what distinguishes a museum is the ownership of a collection. Paintings are the most commonly displayed art objects; however, sculpture, decorative arts, furniture, textiles, costume, drawings, pastels, watercolors, collages, prints, artists' books, photographs, and installation art are also regularly shown. Although primarily concerned with providing a space to show works of visual art, art galleries are sometimes used to host other artistic activities, such as performance art, music concerts, or poetry readings.
The term is used for both public galleries, which are non-profit or publicly owned museums that display selected collections of art. On the other hand, private galleries refers to the commercial enterprises for the sale of art. However, both types of gallery may host traveling exhibits or temporary exhibitions including art borrowed from elsewhere.

WorldStage created a seven projector art environment for Philip Haas's Installation at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth Texas. WorldStage partnered with the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas and Academy Award-nominated director Philip Haas (“Angels and Insects”) on an innovative installation spotlighting five works from the museum’s permanent collection. “Butchers, Dragons, Gods & Skeletons” expands those five selections into multiscreen film narratives displayed in customized environments. WorldStage engineered and installed the critically-acclaimed project which ran from July 18-October 25 2009 and set a new benchmark for museums looking for a compelling new ways to highlight works from their collections. These clocks stand side by side on the shelf behind the sofa. On the left is a New Haven 8 day striking clock, striking hours only. The bell actually sounds much better than it does in the video, thankfully. Next to it is a Philip Haas 30 hour striking clock. The pressed brass hands were on it when I bought it. I normally deplore this kind of unsympathetic restoration, but I thought the hands looked quite good on it despite being totally wrong for the type and period of clock. I had to replace the dial though, as the one fitted to it was a glossy cardboard one with the winding holes crudely punched through it. Worse, it had a big crease across it, and worst of all, it had been put on wrong with IIII at the top! I managed to find this Orel (Russian) alarm clock dial which was a perfect fit ...

This is a short movie of the opening of the 4 Seasons Exhibition by the artist Philip Haas at the Dulwich Art Gallery in London. The filming was entirely on a Canon 600D T3i DSLR with the standard Canon 18-55 kit lens. Focal length was at the widest setting of 18mm. For most of the shots especially the entrance one I used the Canon mounted on an Opteka steady vid Pro stabilizer. For extra stabilization editing and colour correction etc. I used Adobe Premiere CS6 which has a very nifty warp stabilization feature. The music is "Winter" from the 4 Seasons string quartet by Vivaldi. By chance I met Philip Haas when filming (he is the one with a coffee in hand approaching in the opening)and he turned out to be a v nice guy who was very interested in video. Part of his art work also incorporat...

This clock has a strip-pallet dead beat escapement. The movement was originally in another case of similar construction, but it was so badly eaten by woodworm that it had to be dumped. The movement fitted perfectly into this pinewood(?) case with it's original gong. The dial is a new card replacement. I also have another Philip Haas clock with a similar movement (see the video entitled "Little & Large"). It has a front mounted escapement but is otherwise essentially the same.

Everything's got to be
Just how it has to be
Or he won't play
And I know that boy wants to
Approach me and say
All he's got to say
Maybe he'll say it today, maybe no
There was a slight altercation, oh
Down at the station, oh, today
There's blood on hands and steps
I'm holding my head
She's got some front, oh
Did you hear what she said?
I'm so sos if I neglected you
I mean you no harm, mean you no harm
And I'm so sos if I disrespected you
Mean you no harm
Oh look around, it's true
Tonight, I'll be chasing you
I took one draft of life
Paid only the market price
Now I'm estranged
And I'm so lonely now
Though I'm not alone
Licking her boot
