The Australian Open is a major tennis tournament held annually over the last fortnight of January in Melbourne, Australia. First held in 1905, the tournament is chronologically the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events of the year – the other three being the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. It features men's and women's singles; men's, women's, and mixed doubles and junior's championships; as well as wheelchair, legends and exhibition events. Since 1988 the tournament has been played on hard courts at Melbourne Park.
The Australian Open typically has very high attendance – second only to the US Open – and was the first Grand Slam tournament to feature indoor play during wet weather or extreme heat with its two primary courts, Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena, equipped with retractable roofs.
The Australian Open is managed by Tennis Australia, formerly the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia (LTAA), and was first played at the Warehouseman's Cricket Ground in Melbourne in 1905. This facility is now known as the Albert Reserve Tennis Centre.
He is the first male player representing Serbia to win a Major singles title and the youngest player in the open era to have reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam events, separately and consecutively. Amongst other titles, he won the Tennis Masters Cup in 2008 and was on the team which won the 2010 Davis Cup. He also won the bronze medal in singles at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He has won 11 Masters 1000 series titles placing him joint fourth on the all time list. Djokovic has quickly moved up in the rankings of history. Tennis Channel ranked him number 40 , and former player Pat Cash said he is one of the greatest ever.
Roger Federer (German pronunciation: [ˈfeːdəʁɐ]) (born 8 August 1981) is a Swiss professional tennis player who held the ATPNo. 1 position for a record 237 consecutive weeks from 2 February 2004 to 18 August 2008. Federer has occupied the #1 ranking for 285 overall weeks, one week short of the record 286 weeks held by Pete Sampras. As of 28 May 2012, he is ranked World No. 3. Federer has won a men's record 16 Grand Slam singles titles. He is one of seven male players to capture the career Grand Slam and one of three (with Andre Agassi and Rafael Nadal) to do so on three different surfaces (clay, grass, and hard courts). He is the only male player in tennis history to have reached the title match of each Grand Slam tournament at least five times and also the final at each of the nine ATP Masters 1000 Tournaments. Many sports analysts, tennis critics, and former and current players consider Federer to be the greatest tennis player of all time.
Federer has appeared in an unprecedented 23 career Grand Slam tournament finals, including a men's record ten in a row, and appeared in 18 of 19 finals from the 2005 Wimbledon Championships through the 2010 Australian Open, the lone exception being the 2008 Australian Open. He holds the record of reaching the semifinals or better of 23 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments over five and a half years, from the 2004 Wimbledon Championships through the 2010 Australian Open. At the 2012 Australian Open, he reached a record 31st consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal. During the course of his run at the 2012 French Open in Roland Garros, Federer eclipsed Jimmy Connors long standing record of 233 match wins in Grand Slam tournaments when he defeated Adrian Ungur in a second round match.

It was formed to serve miners heading for the Hodgkinson River goldfield, but experienced a decline when an easier route was discovered from Port Douglas. It later developed into a railhead and major port for exporting sugar cane, gold and other metals, minerals and agricultural products from surrounding coastal areas and the Atherton Tableland region. As of June 2012, the population is approximately 153,075.

This picturesque city is unusual amongst Australian cities in that it was founded by free settlers, not convicts. Those early founders put a lot of passion into creating a better life for themselves even though they were many thousands of miles from home.
Because of that history, Adelaide has a unique sense of refinement and beauty.

Perth is a must visit if you're thinking of a trip over to Western Australia, the beautiful coastline and Perth attractions make it the ideal place to take family, friends or your partner.
The city is easy to navigate, with everything fairly close, Hay and Murray Street is home to big name shops, cinemas and the GPO.
Kings Park and Botanic Gardens are a beautiful place for a stroll and offers some great views of the city. The Botanic Gardens features over 3,000 species and the Rio Tinto Naturescape is great for the kids.
The coastline is one of Perth's draws, and if the heat is getting to you head for a dip at the golden sands on Cottesloe Beach, City Beach or Scarborough.
Fremantle is located at the mouth of the Swan River, boasting historical buildings, the Roundhouse and the Maritime Museum it's a popular place to visit. From Fremantle, hop on a boat over to Rottnest Island, it's a protected reserve and great for walking and cycling trails.

Our adventure begins in dense rainforests outside Cairns in the north of Queensland, one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations. We are part of an expedition that will travel far from the tourist trail and into vast unspoiled regions in order to search for an extraordinary aborigine, the Walangee! A newly-ignited forest fire forces us to change direction and take an alternative route. On this occasion it is no problem otherwise our entire expedition could be in jeopardy. Our new route travels along a gravel-covered forest road: a four wheel drive vehicle in this part of Queensland is an absolute necessity.Three rivers, the Lockhart, Pascoe and Jardine, as well as numerous small tributaries, flow across the pathless jungle area of the north coast of Australia. The river is a habitat for a large variety of very unusual creatures. We feel a little like how the first European discoverers of Australia must have felt. Cape York Peninsula was one of the first regions to be discovered by the first seafarers here long before Captain James Cook discovered the fifth continent. Within his hut Chief Walangee is busy with the creation of a new harpoon. For the inhabitants of Cape York Peninsula, for thousands of years the harpoon has been the most important hunting device. Today the point of the harpoon is made of iron. Chief Walangee is one of the last authentic hunters of this region. We also visit one of the most famous diving sites in the world, the Great Barrier Reef, that consists of around a thousand islands and almost three thousand individual reefs. This journey into Australia’s natural past has confirmed that it is one of the world’s most untouched land masses in which ancient traditions continue to be used for practical purposes, not just a tourist’s carefully posed photo opportunity!

Kakadu National Park Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Kakadu National Park is 150 miles east of Darwin, in a region Australians fondly call “The Top End”. World Heritage Listed, Kakadu is almost half the size of Switzerland and is a geological, biological, and cultural wonderland.
The park is open year-round, but most visitors come from May to October, when most of the park’s roads are open. You’ll need to set aside a few days to fully explore Kakadu, and once there, the best way to experience the park is by off-road vehicle and on foot. The park has around 25 marked trails, from short walks to multi day hikes.
Two of the most popular walks include Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls. Here, at the end of forested gorges, are the sorts of places many dream about, but few will ever see. Another great place to cool off is Gunlom Falls, which offers crystal-clear swimming holes and views all the way to far-off Arnhem Land.
Kakadu is dotted with thousands of art sites, with some ancient galleries featuring paintings dating back over 20,000 years. The galleries at Nourlangie Rock and Ubirr are two of the most visited and feature incredibly well-preserved paintings depicting traditional legends and day-to-day life.
Take a cruise through the Yellow Water Billabong and spot Jabiru, Magpie Geese and salt and fresh water crocodiles. Then finish your visit on a high by taking a chartered flight over the park for views you’ll remember forever.

Adelaide is the capital of South Australia and is situated close to the Great Southern Ocean.
It is a compact beachside city that is full of churches, stone buildings and beautiful parklands.
This picturesque city is unusual amongst Australian cities in that it was founded by free settlers, not convicts. Those early founders put a lot of passion into creating a better life for themselves even though they were many thousands of miles from home.
Because of that history, Adelaide has a unique sense of refinement and beauty.
One of the most popular places to visit is Victoria Square which is right in the heart of the city. From here, it is easy to wander along the North Terrace District and admire the graceful buildings and museums which echo with stories from the past.
At the South Australian Museum, visitors can learn about the rich cultures that were in the area before the Europeans arrived.
Another great place to visit is the Art Gallery of South Australia where visitors can enjoy the extensive collections of Australian and International Art.
Don’t miss the legendary Adelaide Oval which many claim to be one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world.
Adelaide is also well known as a gateway to the famous Barossa and Clair Valleys which are a food and wine lovers paradise.
Many of the early settlers to this area were German and they brought with them grapes from their homeland. The area is now well-known for producing outstanding shiraz and reisling.
While you are in the area, stop at any of the many wineries for a wine tasting or to enjoy a meal using fine local produce.
Adelaide is an old world city that attracts visitors for its elegance and romance.

A modern city, Perth is the gem of Australia’s west coast and the capital of Western Australia. This friendly metropolis boasts pristine beaches, clear water, and plenty of coastline – not to mention an abundance of nature and mineral resources.
Start your day of Perth sightseeing with a walk through Kings Park, which is larger than New York’s Central Park and home to the Western Australia Botanic Garden. More than 3,000 species of Western Australia’s plant life, including vibrant flowers, are on display here. Most of the park consists of bushland, which means lots of wildlife and quite a few walking trails.
After a morning of reflection in the park, head over to the Swan Bell Tower to enjoy a spectacular view of the city. Don’t forget your camera! You will notice the diverse nature of Perth’s architecture from this vantage point, including the modern glass structures and London-inspired Tudor buildings.
Perth tours are never complete without a ferry ride to Rottnest Island, affectionately called “Rotto” by the locals. This getaway is rife with opportunities to snorkel in the Indian Ocean, see wildlife such as seals and birds, and travel across more than 31 miles of cycle ways on a rented bicycle.
Once your feet are back on mainland Western Australia, visit one of the jewels, and ultimately what draws much of the Perth tourism: Swan Valley. This region has a landscape peppered with vineyards, no surprise given that growing grapes has been a long-standing tradition in Swan Valley. Following a short (or leisurely paced) day trip to Swan Valley, return to Perth and head to Hillarys Boat Harbour for a sunset dinner.

Australia’s Gold Coast is in the heart of subtropical Queensland, rife with natural beauty and a human spirit dedicated to vitality, fun, and enjoying life. The skyline of Gold Coast practically dips its toes in the ocean, and much of the area is rich in lush greenery and waterfalls. The north coast of this city began as a vacation retreat in the 1850’s, and maintains its position as the Gold Coast’s heart and soul of entertainment and surfing.
Many Gold Coast tours begin in the north and work their way south. The atmosphere in the north is quite bustling, while the south coast has a slower vibe and is a bit more relaxed. Start your trip to Gold Coast with a trip to the SkyPoint observation deck, one of the Gold Coast sightseeing gems. The deck grants stunning views of area beaches, parks, and water.
Head south to Burleigh Heads next, where you will be met with a national park and ideal surf breaks. This area is known as an aboriginal gathering place. Once you’ve had your fill of sun-soaked activities in Burleigh Head, head even further south to Coolangatta, a gateway for international travelers and home to the likes of sheltered beaches, a river, and plenty of shady parkland.
Remember that Gold Coast also happens to be the theme park capital of Australia, which helps drive Gold Coast tourism and serves as a nice complement to the lazy beach life also available. After hitting the water for some surf, go to Dreamworld, which is the largest theme park in Australia, and get an adrenaline rush on one of the many rollercoasters. SeaWorld™ and Warner Bros.® Movie World™ are also nearby.
Top off your trip down under with a trip to Mount Tamorine, a 30 minute drive inland from the coast. On the ridge of a volcano, Mount Tamborine offers a bounty rainforest trails and you can sip on local wines in Tamborine Village.

For a relaxing city break, Brisbane is the perfect place to visit. Start your trip with a trip to the top of the clock tower for city views to get your bearings.
South Bank Parklands is a great place to take the family, start with the wheel of Brisbane for great views of the river, take the kids to the playground and then go for a dip at the manmade beach.
Art lovers should head to the Gallery of Modern Art and the Queensland Art Gallery located not far from South Bank.
Visit the highest peak in Brisbane for stunning views of the city at Mt Coot-tha and take a stroll along the walking trails. If you don't fancy walking to the top, browse the botanic gardens and parklands at the base.
The kids will love a trip to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, hold the koalas and hand feed the kangaroos.
To end your day, there are some great restaurants in South Bank and along the river at Eagle Street Pier. West End and New Farm also have some great cafes and restaurants.
If you'd like to carry on your night at one of the many bars or clubs head to Fortitude Valley.

Mount Isa & Cloncurry travel video guide Queensland Australia
We visited Mount Isa, the only city in outback Australia.
Described as the Oasis of the Outback - a gleaming mirage on the horizon for travellers from all directions - Mount Isa nestles among the ochre-red Selwyn Ranges, on the banks of the Leichhardt River.
Mount Isa has grown from strength to strength over the years but the harsh picturesque landscape has barely changed, becoming one of the main draw-cards for visitors each year. Mount Isa brings out the adventurous spirit in everyone, with ample places to fish, camp, four wheel drive, or relax and enjoy an Outback sunset. The rugged terrain is a four wheel driver's haven, and visitors can explore the region just as the pioneers of the region did many years ago.

Queensland is proudly known as the sunshine state of Australia, and any time of year makes a good time to visit Brisbane (often called Brizzy by locals). Brisbane sightseeing is marked by parks, coastline, gardens, and more. Whether you want to play in the water or partake in some epic shopping, this Australian city welcomes you.
Start your Brisbane tour with a stop at Mount Coot-tha. The name of this mountain peak is derived from the Maori word for honey, which was once found in abundance here. While you’re at Mount Coot-tha, explore the stars of the Southern Hemisphere at the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium. Next, visit a laughing kookaburra at Brisbane Botanical Gardens.
Don’t forget about the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where you can visit koalas, kangaroos, and other local animals. Once you’re ready to commune with humans again, head to Queen Street Mall for the heart of Brisbane’s shopping. The South Bank is rich with free activities, markets, and a lagoon where you can cool off.
Spare some time to take the public ferry to Newfoundland Park, where you can visit the restored Brisbane Powerhouse, filled with art installations. To end your day, climb the Story Bridge, an ideal spot to watch the sun set over the city. Don’t worry, Brisbane tourism includes many fine and casual dining options.
What will you do on your next trip to Brisbane?

People expect him to win, even when they, at the same time, state that he is close to retirement. This video just goes to show, that no matter how good other players will get, and how many defeats Roger will suffer, he will always have a chance to win it all. Keep playing as good as you have so far this year Roger, and who knows, maybe you will get that speciel final win again at Wimby!!

It was the Grand Slam final match with the longest duration in history, lasting 5 hours 53 minutes, overtaking the record previously set by the 2008 Wimbledon final. The match is considered to be one of the greatest matches in tennis history. With no weather stoppages occurring, and both players playing at the peaks of their careers, the match is memorable for the war of attrition and the impeccable quality of play between Djokovic and Nadal.
This match is central to the Djokovic–Nadal rivalry. Nadal called it the toughest loss of his career but the best match he ever played. Djokovic said it was the finest win in his career and also commented on the high level of tennis played. Not only was this the longest Grand Slam final, but according to Tennis Channel and the Australian Open TV networks, this was one of the most-watched finals, despite ending late into the night locally. Soon after the conclusion of the 2012 Australian Open, there were sources claiming that Djokovic sealed his spot as a tennis great and in the Tennis Hall of Fame. After the 2012 Australian Open, Rod Laver came out with his greatest in the amateur and Open Era lists. Djokovic was ranked 6th and Nadal 5th on the Open Era list. Laver said the 2012 Australian Open final was a main reason for including both players.
Nadal after the match said that: “His (Djokovic) return probably is one of the best in history” and “[He makes it] almost every time". Djokovic said: "It was obvious on the court for everybody who has watched the match that both of us, physically, we took the last drop of energy that we had from our bodies, we made history tonight and unfortunately there couldn't be two winners". Rafael Nadal : "This one was very special," he said. "But I really understand that was a really special match, and probably a match that's going to be in my mind not because I lost, no, because the way that we played."Commentator Patrick McEnroe said after the match concluded, "Unforgettable. Unmatched. A new definition of suffering for the title. You think you've seen everything and then you witness a match like this."

Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populous city in Australia. Sydney's urban area is in a coastal basin, which is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Blue Mountains to the west, the Hawkesbury River to the north and the Royal National Park to the south.
The most important places to visit in Sydney are: Sydney Opera House (among the world's most recognized landmarks. Set on the Sydney harbor, it is an unforgettable sight), Sydney Harbor Bridge (simply called "the bridge" by locals, courageous ones can even climb up the bridge), Bronte Beach (lesser known than Bondi, it is a beautiful beach, popular amongst families), Blue Mountains (an unspoiled mountain range filled with Eucalyptus trees. It is located 30 miles from Sydney, and there are plenty of hiking trails), Bondi Beach (Sydney's most famous beach, its lively promenade is as exciting as the beach) and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. Cairns is a regional city in the far north of Queensland, Australia, founded 1876. The city was named after William Wellington Cairns, then-current Governor of Queensland.
The most important places to visit in Cairns are: The Great Barrier Reef, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Kuranda Scenic Railway, Daintree and Cape Tribulation, Dine and Wine at the Atherton Tablelands and many more.

Explore Things to do in Perth Western Australia - Travel Guide

Walangee Queensland Australia Travel Video Guide
Walangee Queensland Australia Travel Video Guide

Roger Federer - I have created a Monster 2015 (HD)
Roger most famously once said, after his 2008 Australian Open Semi-Final defeat to Novak Djokovic, that he felt like he had created this unbeatable image of himself, using the phrase "I have created a monster". He had reached an unhuman amount of 10 consecutive Grand Slam finals upuntil that match, and this is one of the things that, even at 33 years of age, still remain with him.
