Controversy exists over the Falklands' original discovery and subsequent colonisation by Europeans. At various times there have been French, British, Spanish, and Argentine settlements. Britain re-established its rule in 1833, yet the islands continue to be claimed by Argentina. In 1982, following Argentina's invasion of the islands, the two-month-long undeclared Falklands War between both countries resulted in the withdrawal of all Argentine forces. Despite its defeat, Argentina still pursues its claim; however, UK policy supports the islanders' self-determination to remain British citizens.
World War I (WWI), which was predominantly called the World War or the Great War from its occurrence until 1939 (World War II), and the First World War or World War I thereafter, was a major war centred in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. It involved all the world's great powers, which were assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies (based on the Triple Entente of the United Kingdom, France and Russia) and the Central Powers (originally centred around the Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy; but, as Austria–Hungary had taken the offensive against the agreement, Italy did not enter into the war). These alliances both reorganised (Italy fought for the Allies), and expanded as more nations entered the war. Ultimately more than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, were mobilised in one of the largest wars in history. More than 9 million combatants were killed, largely because of enormous increases in lethality of weapons, thanks to new technology, without corresponding improvements in protection or mobility. It was the sixth-deadliest conflict in world history, subsequently paving the way for various political changes such as revolutions in the nations involved.

Howard Kurtz posed this question to Bill O’Reilly on Sunday morning, in an attempt to distill three days of media chatter over alleged embellishments in O’Reilly’s reporting. The accusation: Mother Jones claims that there are contradictions in O’Reilly’s descriptions of his 1982 reporting in Argentina for CBS. The follow up: In a 1700-word Facebook post, Eric Engberg, a former CBS News correspondent who was also in Argentina, said O’Reilly’s tale is suspicious. The wording in question: O’Reilly has said, “I was in a situation one time, in a war zone in Argentina, in the Falklands…” even though he never made it to the Falkland Islands and instead reported from Buenos Aires.
So does the Fox News star wish he had worded it differently?
“No,” O’Reilly answered Kurtz. “When you have soldiers and military police firing into the crowd, as the New York Times reports, and you have people injured and hurt and you’re in the middle of that, that’s the definition. This is splitting hairs trying anything they can to bring down me because of the Brian Williams situation.”

Falkland islands Battle Documentary - War Between England and Argentina - Documentary Films Channel
The Falklands War (Spanish: Guerra de las Malvinas), likewise called the Falklands Conflict, Falklands Crisis, and the Guerra del Atlantico Sur (Spanish for "South Atlantic War"), was a ten-week battle between Argentina and the United Kingdom over 2 British overseas areas in the South Atlantic: the Falkland Islands and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. It started on Friday 2 April 1982 when Argentina attacked and inhabited the Falkland Islands (and, the following day, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands) in an attempt to set up the sovereignty it had lengthy claimed over them. On 5 April, the British government dispatched a naval task pressure to engage the Argentine Navy and Air Force before making an aquatic assault on the islands. The conflict lasted 74 days and ended with the Argentine abandonment on 14 June 1982, returning the islands to British control. In total, 649 Argentine armed forces employees, 255 British army personnel, and three Falkland Islanders died during the hostilities.
The problem was a major episode in the drawn-out conflict over the areas' sovereignty. Argentina insisted (and maintains to now) that the islands are Argentinian area, and the Argentine government thus characterised its military activity as the reclamation of its very own area.

Tourism
=============
Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, located in Ushuaia
Tourist attractions include the Tierra del Fuego National Park and Lapataia Bay. The park can be reached by highway, or via the End of the World Train (Tren del Fin del Mundo) from Ushuaia. The city has a museum of Yámana, English, and Argentine settlement, including its years as a prison colony. Wildlife attractions include local birds, penguins, seals, and orcas, many of these species colonizing islands in the Beagle Channel. There are daily bus and boat tours to Harberton, the Bridges family compound. Tours also visit the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Les Eclaireurs is sometimes confused with the "Lighthouse at the End of the World" (Faro del fin del mundo) made famous by Jules Verne in the novel of the same name; but the latter lies some 200 mi (320 km) east of Ushuaia on Isla de los Estados (Staten Island).
Manufacturing
============
Ushuaia's industrial sector, led by the Grundig Renacer electronics factory, is among the largest in Patagonia.
Arts and culture
=================
Since 2007 Ushuaia has hosted the Bienal de Arte Contemporáneo del Fin del Mundo (Bienniel of Contemporary Art at the End of the World), created and organized by the Patagonia Arte & Desafío Foundation under the rubric "South Pole of the Arts, Sciences, and Ecology". The Bienal has gathered over one hundred artists from five continents addressing the motto "think at the End of the World that another world is possible". As a pedagogical project it encourages students at all levels to "think about a better world".

=====
In addition to being a vacation destination for local and international tourists, Ushuaia is also the key access point to the Southern Ocean, including subantarctic islands such as South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and Antarctic islands such as the South Orkney Islands and the South Shetland Islands. Its commercial pier is the major port of departure in the world for tourist and scientific expeditions to the Antarctic Peninsula.[citation needed] Cruise ships visiting the Falkland Islands (referred to by Argentinians as Islas Malvinas) and Antarctica dock at the port, as well as Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, and Celebrity Cruises, which transit between Valparaíso, Chile, to Buenos Aires and beyond. Antarpply Expeditions, Global Maritime, Hurtigruten, Lindblad Expeditions, Orient Lines, Quark Expeditions, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and other passenger and freight lines provide regularly scheduled services between Ushuaia and all local seaports and settlements. Australis Cruises provides regular service between Ushuaia and Punta Arenas from September to April. Tourists can also visit Cape Horn (in Chilean waters) by boat or helicopter.

Battle Between England and Argentina - War at Falkland Island - World Documentary.
The Falklands War (Spanish: Guerra de las Malvinas), also known as the Falklands Conflict, Falklands Crisis, and the Guerra del Atlántico Sur (Spanish for "South Atlantic War"), was a ten-week war between Argentina and the United Kingdom over two British overseas territories in the South Atlantic: the Falkland Islands and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. It began on Friday 2 April 1982 when Argentina invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands (and, the following day, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands) in an attempt to establish the sovereignty it had long claimed over them. On 5 April, the British government dispatched a naval task force to engage the Argentine Navy and Air Force before making an amphibious assault on the islands. The conflict lasted 74 days and ended with the Argentine surrender on 14 June 1982, returning the islands to British control. In total, 649 Argentine military personnel, 255 British military personnel, and three Falkland Islanders died during the hostilities.

Bill O'Reilly Responds To Attacks Over Falkland Islands War Coverage Lies
“The Mother Jones piece, ultimately if you boil it down, comes down to this semantic question. You said you covered a combat situation in Argentina during the Falklands War….Looking back, do you wish you had worded it differently?”

The Argentine ambassador to Britain Alicia Castro discusses Argentina wanting the Falkland Islands back. It seems to escape her that the people on the islands do not want to talk with anyone about it, because they want to be British, and until such time the islanders change there mind, there IS NOT DISCUSSION on who the Falkland Islands should belong to.

Ushuaia is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur Province, Argentina. It is commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world (a title long disputed by smaller Puerto Williams). Ushuaia is located in a wide bay on the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, bounded on the north by the Martial mountain range and on the south by the Beagle Channel. It is the only municipality in the Department of Ushuaia, which has an area of 9,390 km2 (3,625 sq mi).
Tourism
=============
============
Ushuaia's industrial sector, led by the Grundig Renacer electronics factory, is among the largest in Patagonia.
Arts and culture
=================
Sea
=====
