Hertfordshire's programme of summer resurfacing works to extend the life of roads in the county is almost complete. Surface dressing has been carried out on around 70 roads - a total of 705,000 square metres of carriageway. It is all part of a full range of routine maintenance and improvements the council undertakes each year, on roads, pavements, streetlights, and bridges ... At the end of this period, road markings are replaced....

Around the same time, NMC had re-laid roads in many parts of the city. Most of these roads failed to withstand initial rains and their gravel has started peeling off. But not the Ramgiri road which is still in good condition, indicating NMC can build a better road if it wants to ... The tender for parking cars and two-wheelers on the road touching DLF Mall of India has been scrapped owing to the worsening traffic congestion in the area, Noida Authority officials have said. On July 2, TOI had reported that the Noida Authority had allowed cars and two-wheelers to park on the road touching the DLF Mall. The six signboards allowing the on-road parking were, however, found removed from the road on July 3....

Like the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), the work of national highways department, coming under the ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) too is drawing flak from the public. Within seven months of asphalting, Kamptee road has started to develop potholes....

'Misleading' BMW ad banned over headlight technology claims

The radio ad for the BMW 1 series car said its High Beam Assist technology meant "oncoming traffic is never dazzled and you can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road" ... BMW UK said High Beam Assist illuminated the road at night with full beam but a sensor located in the rear-view mirror holder monitored oncoming traffic and immediately adjusted the beam when necessary....
