Ray Jackson may refer to:
Raymond F. Jackson (born August 1, 1978) is a former American football running back in the National Football League. He played for the Tennessee Titans in 2003. He played college football at Michigan and Cincinnati.
Ray Jackson (born Lindsay Raymond Jackson, 12 December 1948, Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne) is a mandolin and harmonica player. He was a member and also joint lead vocalist, with Alan Hull, of the folk-rock group Lindisfarne from their original formation in 1970 until his departure in 1990. As the group's drummer Ray Laidlaw shared the same forename, Jackson was generally known in the group as "Jacka".
After leaving school he studied graphics at Newcastle College of Art and Industrial Design, where he met Laidlaw.
He designed the group's logo and the sleeve of their debut album Nicely Out of Tune. Alongside his activities in the group, he also played mandolin on Rod Stewart's solo albums Every Picture Tells a Story (1971), Never a Dull Moment (1972), and Smiler (1974). His playing can be heard particularly on the songs "Maggie May", "Mandolin Wind", and "Farewell". On the sleeve of Every Picture Tells a Story, he was not credited by name, only a reference: "The mandolin was played by the mandolin player in Lindisfarne. The name slips my mind."
Ray Jackson (2 December 1910 – 25 December 1968) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
Ray Jackson (born November 13, 1973) is a retired American college and professional basketball player.
Jackson was part of the famed University of Michigan Wolverines Fab Five along with former NBA players Chris Webber, Jimmy King, Jalen Rose, and Juwan Howard that reached the 1992 & 1993 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship games as both Freshmen and Sophomores.
Although the Fab Five final four appearances have been forfeited, he was not among the players called before the grand jury (Robert Traylor, Webber, Rose, Maurice Taylor and Louis Bullock) in the University of Michigan basketball scandal and was not found to have received large amounts of money.
Jackson and King were the only two members of the Fab Five to stay at Michigan for their full four years of eligibility; Webber left after his sophomore year and Rose and Howard after their junior years. Jackson's best season at Michigan came in his senior year, when he and King were the only members of the Fab Five remaining, as he averaged a team high of nearly 16 points per game.
Ray Jackson (27 March 1941 – 23 April 2015) was an Australian Aboriginal activist and Wiradjuri elder. He was President of the Indigenous Social Justice Association (ISJA), and a prominent campaigner for the rights of Indigenous Australians.
Ray Jackson was a member of the Stolen Generations. In 1943, when Jackson was two years old, his father was killed in World War II, fighting Japanese forces on the Kokoda Track. Jackson said that instead of his biological mother receiving a war widows pension, the Australian government removed her four children (including Jackson) from her custody due to her Aboriginality.
His name was changed and he was sent to a Catholic institution for a year, before being adopted by a white family. It was not until his teen years that he discovered he had been adopted. He never found his biological family, and never learned the original name they had given him.
Jackson was one of Australia's most prominent and knowledgeable campaigners on the issue of Aboriginal deaths in custody. He campaigned for justice for the families of victims, Eddie Murray, Mark Mason and TJ Hickey.
