Author Robert Neuwirth suggests that there are one billion squatters globally, that is, about one in every seven people on the planet. Yet, according to Kesia Reeve, "squatting is largely absent from policy and academic debate and is rarely conceptualized, as a problem, as a symptom, or as a social or housing movement."
In many of the world's poorer countries, there are extensive slums or shanty towns, typically built on the edges of major cities and consisting almost entirely of self-constructed housing built without the landowner's permission. While these settlements may, in time, grow to become both legalised and indistinguishable from normal residential neighbourhoods, they start off as squats with minimal basic infrastructure. Thus, there is no sewage system, drinking water must be bought from vendors or carried from a nearby tap, and if there is electricity, it is stolen from a passing cable.

Building RAW Squatting Strength: Anderson Squats (Ft. Greg Nuckols)
Building RAW Squatting Strength: Anderson Squats (Ft. Greg Nuckols)
Building RAW Squatting Strength: Anderson Squats (Ft. Greg Nuckols)
HOW TO:
1) Anderson squats are essentially squats from the bottom position, using pins.
2) Normally done starting at the bottom position (no eccentric). To learn the movement however, you can START from the top, descend into the bottom, pause on the pins and explode up.
3) Set pins at height you normally hit depth with. Descend until you rest on pins, pause for a few seconds to eliminate stretch reflex.
LOADING:
For heavy, work up to heavy set of 1-3 reps (as heavy as possible, usually 70% of 1RM)
For volume, lighter sets for 3-5 reps. Start from dead stop, make sure you can accelerate. (40-50% of max squat).

Building RAW Squatting Strength: Anderson Squats (Ft. Greg Nuckols)
HOW TO:
1) Anderson squats are essentially squats from the bottom position, using pins.
2) Normally done starting at the bottom position (no eccentric). To learn the movement however, you can START from the top, descend into the bottom, pause on the pins and explode up.
3) Set pins at height you normally hit depth with. Descend until you rest on pins, pause for a few seconds to eliminate stretch reflex.
LOADING:
For heavy, work up to heavy set of 1-3 reps (as heavy as possible, usually 70% of 1RM)
For volume, lighter sets for 3-5 reps. Start from dead stop, make sure you can accelerate. (40-50% of max squat).

Bodyweight: 212.5 Note: form has improved, I'm slowly working my way up and I'm on the road to a 415 squat which I should be able to get by the end of my program. My elbows do flare up and my hands almost let go but it doesn't feel like the bar will fall. Form is a work in progress. Im currently squatting 3 times a week and it has helped a lot. The importance for proper mechanics when squatting is simply so we can continue to get our bodies into this position easily. You want to be able to get on/off the toilet as you get older, you want to be able to get in/out of the car in the parking lot. Squatting easy at 185lbs. Low back is holding up but haven't put this much on my back in a while. Instead of increasing weight I plan on increasing frequency of workouts while I work on my terminally tight hips and ankles. Since I've hurt myself pretty severely a few times in the past 2 years I've decided to slow down during this phase of lifting and work on my positioning and flexibility FIRST. I could definitely move more weight, but what's the point if I can't hit depth and keep my spine in a good position.

Bodyweight: 212.5 Note: form has improved, I'm slowly working my way up and I'm on the road to a 415 squat which I should be able to get by the end of my program. My elbows do flare up and my hands almost let go but it doesn't feel like the bar will fall. Form is a work in progress. Im currently squatting 3 times a week and it has helped a lot. The importance for proper mechanics when squatting is simply so we can continue to get our bodies into this position easily. You want to be able to get on/off the toilet as you get older, you want to be able to get in/out of the car in the parking lot. We strengthen our bodies through ranges of motion our daily activities require us to do. Squat is BASIC and an ESSENTIAL position.

I'll only be recording my top sets for my squat every day videos. 9/24 consisted of 3x4x305, and 5x305 for my top sets on squats, followed by 6x6x225lbs W1D1 Smolov jr for my competition bench. 9/25 5x5x135 front squats, W1D1 smolov jr weighted pull ups 6x6x225lbs, and today, 9/26 was day 2 of smolov intense phase. Top sets, 3x325lbs, and 5x2x305lbs... Sorry for the smoloved out work out....

Squatting easy at 185lbs. Low back is holding up but haven't put this much on my back in a while. Instead of increasing weight I plan on increasing frequency of workouts while I work on my terminally tight hips and ankles. Since I've hurt myself pretty severely a few times in the past 2 years I've decided to slow down during this phase of lifting and work on my positioning and flexibility FIRST. I could definitely move more weight, but what's the point if I can't hit depth and keep my spine in a good position.

Capitalism basically amounts to the accumulation of private property and squatting acts as one of the most direct challenges to this. During the housing crises, its now more important than ever. We want this movement to grow.

HOW TO:
1) Anderson squats are essentially squats from the bottom position, using pins.
2) Normally done starting at the bottom position (no eccentric). To learn the movement however, you can START from the top, descend into the bottom, pause on the pins and explode up.
3) Set pins at height you normally hit depth with. Descend until you rest on pins, pause for a few seconds to eliminate stretch reflex.
LOADING:
For heavy, work up to heavy set of 1-3 reps (as heavy as possible, usually 70% of 1RM)
For volume, lighter sets for 3-5 reps. Start from dead stop, make sure you can accelerate. (40-50% of max squat).

Bodyweight: 212.5 Note: form has improved, I'm slowly working my way up and I'm on the road to a 415 squat which I should be able to get by the end of my program. My elbows do flare up and my hands almost let go but it doesn't feel like the bar will fall. Form is a work in progress. Im currently squatting 3 times a week and it has helped a lot. Unfortunately did't get to use the Texas squat bar which was taken. Thanks for watching and please leave positive feedback!
