Flight dynamics is the science of air vehicle orientation and control in three dimensions. The three critical flight dynamics parameters are the angles of rotation in three dimensions about the vehicle's center of mass, known as pitch, roll and yaw.
Aerospace engineers develop control systems for a vehicle's orientation (attitude) about its center of mass. The control systems include actuators, which exert forces in various directions, and generate rotational forces or moments about the aerodynamic center of the aircraft, and thus rotate the aircraft in pitch, roll, or yaw. For example, a pitching moment is a vertical force applied at a distance forward or aft from the aerodynamic center of the aircraft, causing the aircraft to pitch up or down.
Roll, pitch and yaw refer to rotations about the respective axes starting from a defined steady flight equilibrium state. The equilibrium roll angle is known as wings level or zero bank angle, equivalent to a level heeling angle on a ship. Yaw is known as "heading". The equilibrium pitch angle in submarine and airship parlance is known as "trim", but in aircraft, this usually refers to angle of attack, rather than orientation. However, common usage ignores this distinction between equilibrium and dynamic cases.

Most pilots never learn to trim an airplane properly until they begin working on their Instrument rating --- because that's when precise attitude and heading control are critical. The key is to get the attitude of the airplane where you want it BEFORE you begin to trim. Remember trim is designed to relieve control pressure, and that's true of Elevator, Rudder and Aileron trim. You don't want to fly with trim; you only dial it in after you have the attitude of the airplane set. Think of it as cruise control in your car. Proper use of trim allows you to fly with a light touch an...
This video demonstrates some of the research into visual guidance systems for UAVs being undertaken by the biorobotics lab at the Queensland Brain Institute. In this video, a wide-angle vision system is used to capture a near-spherical field of view of the environment. The input images are classified into sky and ground regions to estimate the attitude of the aircraft. The classifier is updated continuously and is therefore able to adapt to changing environmental conditions. This video shows the system functioning on images captured during flight tests and on images taken from flights performed by others. The top panel shows the raw image stream overlayed with the computed horizon (and possibly other reference horizons), while the bottom panels show the horizon estimation process. ...

This video demonstrates some of the research into visual guidance systems for UAVs being undertaken by the biorobotics lab at the Queensland Brain Institute. In this video, a wide-angle vision system is used to capture a near-hemispherical field of view of the environment. From these images, the view rays that correspond to the visual horizon are found by segmenting the colour space into two classes. The attitude of the aircraft is then measured by fitting a great circle to the reprojected horizon view rays. This information is then used in a control loop to stabilise the attitude of the aircraft automatically. This video demonstrates the ability of this system to control the attitude of the aircraft accurately during sustained accelerations. The left panel shows the image stream fro...
Design and theory of operation of electric gyro instruments. Turn and Slip Indicator, Attitude Indicator, and Directional Gyro.
Part 1 of Lesson 1 in flight simulators. This lesson covers the 6 basic instruments in any airplane: the airspeed indicator, attitude indicator, altimeter, turn coordinator, heading indicator, and vertical speed indicator. It also briefly covers the throttle and mixture controls.
When an aircraft is decelerated, some attitude indicators will precess and incorrectly indicate a a. left turn. b. climb. c. descent. Which is the correct answer? Watch and find out. *DISCLAIMER* Please do not use this video for any sort of instruction, this is for my own memorization purposes only. Date: March 23, 1994 Time: 00:57 Location: Near Mezhdurechensk, Russia Operator: Aeroflot Russian International Airways Flight number: 593 Route: Moscow - Hong Kong AC Type: Airbus A310-304 Aboard: 75 (passengers: 63 crew: 12) Fatalities: 75 (passengers: 63 crew: 12) Ground: 0 The aircraft crashed after a captain allowed his child to manipulate the controls of the plane. The pilot's 11 year old daughter and 16 year old son were taking turns in the pilot's seat. While the boy was flying, he inadvertently disengaged the autopilot linkage to the ailerons and put the airliner in a bank of 90 degrees which caused the nose to drop sharply. The co-pilot pulled back on the yoke to obtain level flight but the plane stalled. With his seat pulled all the way back, the co-pilot in the right hand sea...
A great video of the worlds best aerobatic aircraft pilot Svetlana Kapanina flying the Su-26 aerobatic aircraft. Aerobatics (a portmanteau of aerial-acrobatics) is the practice of flying maneuvers involving aircraft attitudes that are not used in normal flight.[1][2] Aerobatics are performed in airplanes and gliders for training, recreation, entertainment, and sport. Additionally, some helicopters, such as the MBB Bo 105, are capable of limited aerobatic maneuvers.[3] An example of a fully aerobatic helicopter, capable of performing loops and rolls, is the Westland Lynx. The term is sometimes referred to as acrobatics, especially when translated.[citation needed] Most aerobatic maneuvers involve rotation of the aircraft about its longitudinal (roll) axis or lateral (pitch) axis. Other man...

Part 4 of 4 - I have compiled a wealth of evidence here in order to further back up my claims that Mount Sharp may have in part been a military navy base. Showing aircraft, ships, a submarine, a building or bunker, many more boats and even a possible escape pod from one of them. Are some of these related to "UFO saucers" that have been found recently? There is crash debris and wreckage strewn over a wide area near Mount Sharp in Gale Crater and I could't put it all in one video but this should give you some idea of the diverse and complex nature of these anomalies. This is a partial reconstruction of past events based on multiple finds by ArtAlienTV in the last 20 months. This and my recent Mount Sharp videos are a culmination of some very hard work and I have tried to keep them both info...
Part 1 of 2 - " This is the big one! Resembling a giant Xbox controller , Mount sharp looks to be an enormous artificial alien UFO or saucer like structure that resembles a huge spaceship. A symmetrical chevron shaped intelligently designed possible buried citadel on a scale that is almost impossible to imagine. It looks manufactured in appearance as mountains are never symmetrical in shape like this one. If you can find one on Earth or anywhere else that is then do show me it as it will be a first on this planet or any other! Refer to my channel to see many of the other things mentioned in this video. There is plenty of evidence to back up my claims about artefacts and buildings to see in Gale Crater, some of them very clear and in up close detail ". SEE PART 2 HERE: http://youtu.be/vOT...

Part 1 of 2 of the complete air-traffic control recordings of American Airlines flight 11. This is the newly released recordings of American Airlines Flight 11 which crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre after being hijacked by five terrorists. This was the first plane to be hijacked on September 11, 2001. American Airlines Flight 11 departed Boston-Logan for Los Angeles at 07:59. The aircraft was hijacked by five terrorists. The hijackers took over control, reportedly switched off the transponder and changed course to New York. At 08:46 the aircraft was flown into the North side of the 110-story New York WTC North tower in a slightly left wing down attitude, crashed and exploded into the 93rd through 98th floors. The massive fire weakened the tower structure on these fl...
