Reference management tools

VU Library has a number of reference management tools which can help you to:

  • create, store and organise a personalised database of your references
  • enter references manually or import from library catalogues or databases
  • generate bibliographies/reference lists, choosing from 100s of bibliographic styles.

EndNote

EndNote can be used by all current VU students and staff working or enrolled at any VU campus. It is suitable for researchers and students who need to manage large amounts of bibliographic data.

Refer to our guide to using EndNote. EndNote requires software installation (available from all campus libraries).

EndNote Web

EndNote Web is the web-based version of EndNote, is easier to use and more suited to undergraduate students. 

When accessing EndNote Web for the first time, you will need to enter your VU ID and Library PIN and then sign up for an Endnote account.

Once signed up you can log in to Endnote Web directly by entering your unique EndNote Web login. Help is available on the Endnote site to registered users.

RefWorks

RefWorks is a web-based referencing tool that is easy to use and more suited to undergraduate students. Access to RefWorks is also available to Offshore VU students. Help with using RefWorks is provided on the RefWorks website

In order to access RefWorks you need to first create an account that will give you a unique login.

When logging into RefWorks on campus, enter your unique RefWorks login.

Accessing RefWorks off campus will require you to enter your VU ID and Library PIN as well as your unique RefWorks login.
