Mycenae (Greek Μυκῆναι Mykēnai or Μυκήνη Mykēnē) is an archaeological site in Greece, located about 90 km south-west of Athens, in the north-eastern Peloponnese. Argos is 11 km to the south; Corinth, 48 km to the north. From the hill on which the palace was located one can see across the Argolid to the Saronic Gulf.
In the second millennium BC Mycenae was one of the major centres of Greek civilization, a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece. The period of Greek history from about 1600 BC to about 1100 BC is called Mycenaean in reference to Mycenae.
Although the citadel was built by Greeks, the name is not thought to be Greek, but is rather one of the many pre-Greek place names inherited by the immigrant Hellenes. According to John Chadwick the name of Mycenae is of pre-Greek origin. The pre-Greek language remains unknown, but there is no evidence to rule out a member of the Indo-European superfamily. Ancient Greek etymological speculation connected the name to the Greek word "μύκης" (mycēs), 'mushroom'. Thus, Pausanias ascribes the name to the legendary founder Megapenthes, who was said to have named it either after the cap（mycēs）of the sheath of his sword, or after a mushroom he had plucked on the site.

Mycenae is an archaeological site in Greece in the north-eastern Peloponnese. From the hill on which the palace was located one can see across the Argolid to the Saronic Gulf. In the second millennium BC Mycenae was one of the major centres of Greek civilization, a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece. The period of Greek history from about 1600 BC to about 1100 BC is called Mycenaean in reference to Mycenae.
It is believed that Mycenae was settled close to 2000 BC by Indo-Europeans who practiced farming and herding. Since Mycenae was the capital of a state that ruled, or dominated, much of the eastern Mediterranean world, the rulers must have placed their stronghold in this less populated and more remote region for its defensive value. The fortifications on the acropolis, and other surrounding hills, were rebuilt in a style known as cyclopean because the blocks of stone used were so massive that they were thought in later ages to be the work of the one-eyed giants known as the cyclopes. The main entrance through the circuit wall was made grand by the best known feature of Mycenae, the Lion Gate, through which passed a stepped ramp leading past circle A and up to the palace. The Lion Gate was constructed in the form of a relieving triangle' in order to support the weight of the stones. By 1200 BC the power of Mycenae was declining; during the 12th century, Mycenaean dominance collapsed.

A visit to the heart of the first great civilizations between the Euphrates and the Aegean Sea takes us to the pre-Hellenic cities of Mycenae, Tiryns, and the legendary Babylonian city of Troy where archeological findings have confirmed existence of the world of heroes that Homer depicted in his epic poems. We will even visit the site of the classic battle between Hector and Achilles.
Mycenaean Greece was the last phase of the Bronze Age in Ancient Greece (ca. 1600-1100 BC). It takes its name from the archaeological site of Mycenae in Argolis, Peloponnese, southern Greece.
The Mycenaean Civilization "takes its name from the spectacular finds made by Heinrich Schliemann [who discovered the ruins of Troy] at Mycenae," according to the Oxford Classical Dictionary (OCD), 3rd ed. revised.
"The organizing centres of this civilization were the great palaces best preserved at Mycenae, Tiryns, Pylos and Thebes. While considerably smaller than the Minoan palaces and differently laid out, they evidently functioned similarly, as centres of administration, ceremonial, storage and craftwork. They presided over societies that were small in scale: most settlements ranged in size from a few households to some hundreds, and even the greatest, with populations probably in the thousands, do not have a very townlike appearance." Comment: It's easy to romanticize the ancient world, but I've always thought that these Bronze Age Greek civilizations -- still relatively unpopulated and integrated into the spectacular landscape -- must have been fantastic places to live.

Super Robot Taisen Z3 Jigoku Hen - End of Mycenae Empire

Kouji has visions of Zeus once again and it looks like Zeus will be helping out Z-Blue in its upcoming fight.
Things don't look good for Z-Blue as they are literally stuck in the middle of a big fight between the Mycenae and Mykage's forces. Thankfully, Z-Blue gets backup in the form of Zeus who is arguably one of the strongest Super Robots in the game. At the start of an enemy phase, Mykage will use the powers of the Ancient Aquarion to deal damage to 3 random units on the map. Irritating but manageable.
After Garadoubla is defeated, Hades becomes pissed and tries collapse the dimension. Zeus sacrifices himself to stop Hades but before he dies, Zeus gives his remaining powers to Mazinger. Everyone is fired up and recover their HP as well as 30 SP. Hades summons a few mechanical beasts but those beasts are small fry compared to the Mycenae.
After Hades is defeated, it is revealed that like the Space Demon King, the Mycenae were once humans who overcame the 12,000 year loop and ascended to higher beings via evolution. Hades curses Z-Blue and tells them that he will return one day. As Hades dies, he becomes a being of flame who is known in Mazinger lore as The Emperor of Darkness.
With the Mycenae defeated, only Mykage and his forces remain.

Mycenae was the mythical fortress city mentioned in The Iliad and The Odyssey. It was ruled by King Agamemnon who was famous in Greek mythology as leading the Greeks and their 1,000 ships to the Trojan War to rescue Helen, the Queen of Sparta. Mycenae was the mythical fortress city mentioned in The Iliad and The Odyssey. It was ruled by King Agamemnon who was famous in Greek mythology as leading the Greeks and their 1,000 ships to the Trojan War to rescue Helen, the Queen of Sparta. Heinrich Schliemann dug the city out of this hill in the 1800's just where Homer said it should be. The Lion's Gate is here as is Agamemnon's death mask. Amazing stuff. And it's a great day trip out of Nafplio into the Greek countryside to find this place. The road signage is, as usual, lacking, so it's an adventure just to get there but wow is it worth it.
