Underground (Serbian: Podzemlje, Serbian Cyrillic: Подземље) is a 1995 award-winning film directed by Emir Kusturica with a screenplay by Dušan Kovačević.
It is also known by the subtitle Once Upon a Time There Was a Country (Serbian: Била једном једна земља, Bila jednom jedna zemlja), which was the title of the 5-hour mini-series shown on Serbian RTS television.
The film uses the epic story of two friends to portray and satirise the history of Yugoslavia since the Second World War. The film was an international co-production with companies from Yugoslavia, France, Germany and Hungary.
The theatrical version is 163 minutes long. In interviews, Kusturica stated that his original version ran for over 320 minutes, and that he was forced to cut it by co-producers.
The plot is presented through three parts: War, Cold War, and War.
The film opens in Belgrade, the capital of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 6, 1941 as two roguish bon vivants Petar Popara nicknamed Crni (Blacky) and Marko Dren are heading home following a night of hard drinking and partying out on the town. Riding atop a horse carriage while tailed and serenaded by a brass orchestra, they're drunkenly singing and shooting their way through the city's downtown. They pass through Kalemegdan and shout salutes to Marko's brother Ivan who's an animal keeper in the city's zoo. A stutterer with a lame leg, Ivan is already up to feed the animals and waves to them warmly as he records food portion amounts while listening to early morning radio bulletins.

I was never cool in school
I'm sure you don't remember me
And now it's been 10 years
I'm still wondering who to be
But I'd love to mix
In circles, cliques, and social coteries - that's me
Hand me my nose ring (Can we be happy?)
Show me the mosh pit (Can we be happy?)
We can be happy underground
Who's got the looks, who's got the brains
Who's got everything
I got this pain in my heart, that's all
Hey you with the long and lonely face
There's got to be something else
Let me tell ya something else
There was this girl who passed me by
She gave a smile but I was shy
I looked down, so down
Don't look there no no, go go underground
But now there's a place to go
It's the morning, it's the evening
It's everything
I click my heels and I'm there
Underground, underground
Everything's happy underground
You been kicked around
Did life bring you down here
Everything's heavy underground
We'll be decked in all black and
Slamming the pit fantastic
Officer Friendly's little boy's got a mohawk
He knows just where we're coming from
It's industrial, work it underground
Get down, get down, get down
Underground, underground
Everything's happy underground
You been kicked around
Did life bring you down here
words and music by Arlo Guthrie
There's a river running underground
That roll along the clay
That took my body when I laid it down
And carried it far away
It's too damned dark for you to see
So I did not protest
My soul shook free, you can't have me
But you may keep the rest
The waters weep, the sickles reap
My hands are cold with sweat
The eagle screams with frightened wings
The dust does not forget
There's a river running underground
That rolls along the clay
That tempts the sould to the ocean cold
Give us a song but don't live what you sing
Say what you mean but please don't mean a thing
I think I might wander underground
I think I might wander underground
They heard fifteen seconds and that was enough
The idea was new but the business was tough
I think I might wander underground
I think I might wander underground
I go to my lover we lay on our bed
Did I sell my heart for the dreams in my head
I think I might wander underground
Going down underground
Darkness all along
Hear gods calling me
His army is at my heels
There's something inside me to tells me
Boy you should run
A bad moon is rising stay awake
It's over!
We're all are running out of life
Don't fall asleep tonight
You might never see the morning light
Enjoy life before you die
We're all running out of time
There's something inside me to tells me
Boy you should run
A bad moon is rising stay awake
It's over!
We're all are running out of life
It's over
We're all gonna die tonight
(God's army is at my heels)
(God's army is at my heels )
We're all gonna die tonight
We're all gonna die tonight
There's something inside me to tells me
Boy you should run
A bad moon is rising stay awake
It's over!
We're all are running out of life
It's over
We're all gonna die tonight
Tonight
Tonight
Tonight
We all
We all
We all
I was never cool in school
I'm sure you don't remember me
And now it's been ten years
I'm still wonderin' who to be
And I love to mix in circles
Cliques and social coteries

It's the mornin' now

You been kicked around
Did life bring you down here?
Everything's heavy underground
We'll be decked in all black
Slammin' the pit fantastic
Officer Friendly's little boy's
Got a Mohawk
And he knows just where

Get down, get down, get down yeah
(Underground, underground, ooh)
Everything's heavy underground
(Underground, underground, ooh)
You been kicked around
Did life bring you down here?
Everything's heavy underground
We can be happy
We can be happy
We can be happy
Underground
We can
We can
We can be
Everything's heavy
(Underground)
You been kicked around
(Underground)
Did life bring you down, here?
Everything's heavy underground
Bye bye
We can
We can
We can be
(Everything's heavy underground)
We can
We can
We can be
(Everything's happy underground)
We can, we can
We can be
We can, we can
We can be
Everything's heavy underground
Everything's heavy underground
Dying hard and I stand by
Running down and I sink along
So far underground, I lose touch
Falling all alone if you choose to fall
Looking down if nobody is watching
Falling all alone if you choose to fall
If you come back, I won't forget
And if you find that place, won't you let me in?
And if you're hiding, I'll understand
Sometimes you need to cry, so you can smile again
So you can smile again
If you come back, I won't forget
And if you find that place, won't you let me in?
If you come back, I won't forget
If you come back, I won't forget
And if you find that place, wont you let me in?
And if you're hiding, I'll understand, understand, I'll understand
Sometimes you need to cry, so you can smile again
So you can smile again, so you can smile again
If you come back, I won't forget
And if you find that place, won't you let me in?
If you come back, I won't forget
And if you find that place, won't you let me in?
Rattle Big Black Bones
in the Danger zone
there's a rumblin' groan
down below
there's a big dark town
it's a place I've found
there's a world going on
UNDERGROUND
they're alive, they're awake
while the rest of the world is asleep
below the mine shaft roads
it will all unfold
there's a world going on
UNDERGROUND
all the roots hang down
swing from town to town
they are marching around
down under your boots
all the trucks unload
beyond the gopher holes
there's a world going on
UNDERGROUND
Won't you come to the other side
A via satellite
With me my darling
Let me help you through the suffering
I know you're hurt again
So trust in me now
Stop...
Breathe...
Look inside of me
Tell me what do you see
Relate
But do not hesitate
To come with me tonight
Won't you come to the other side
Follow me down
Won't you come to the underground
So I can save your soul
Cause it's part of you
And it's part of me
Synchronicity
I'm only here to help you through the pain
And make it go away
Oh sincerely no
Stop...
Breathe...
Look inside of me
Tell me what do you see
Relate
But do not hesitate
To come with me tonight
Won't you come to the other side
Follow me down
Won't you come to the underground
So I can save your soul
Follow me down
"don't run away from panic.
when you feel the panic mount,
take a deep breath and,
as you breath out, let go.
keep trying.
stay there almost as if you were
floating in space.
don't fight the feeling of panic.
Goin' down to the underground
17 blocks away
Goin' down to the underground
Street lights, road signs
So much in the back of my mind
Last night's trash on the road
Your lost, shoe marks
Listen close but don't be shocked
This is about to explode
C'mon, there's a place you can go, yeah
Goin' down to the underground
17 blocks away
Goin' down to the underground
You don't wanna get in the way
Leavin' the daylight behind
Way down where nobody can find
I hesitate, I set straight
Into the eyes of fate
Strange faces passin' me by
The night rains down the drain
I hear the echo of the midnight train
Under the weight of the sky
It's what we do to get by, yeah
Goin' down to the underground
17 blocks away
Goin' down to the underground
You don't wanna get in the way
Leavin' the daylight behind
Way down where nobody can find
Goin' down to the underground
Goin' down to get away
Goin' down [x7]
Goin' down to the underground
17 blocks away
Goin' down to the underground
You don't wanna get in the way
Leavin' the daylight behind
Way down where nobody can find
Goin' down to the underground
Down, down, so we can all get away
Way down to the underground
Down, down, so we can all get away, yeah
Goin' down to the underground
Down, down, so we can all get away
my head is pounding I can't stop the pounding
I think it is going to explode
and kill everybody who's in close proximity to the place I call my home
and they'll make a moving made for tv movie for Life Time all about my life
that ends with an epitaph one that will make you laugh
that says "great mom okay wife"
at it'll be funny to the people who know me
who know if my body's not burned
my soul will spend an eternity in misery
tethered and bound to this earth
so I'm not a dick or a stick in the mud always ruining things for my friends
I mustn't forget when I see the sun set that tomorrow it will rise again
so I tattoo instructions on my ass
that say "don't ever put this body is a casket
burn it and put the ashes in a basket
and throw them in the Puget Sound
I don't ever want to be under ground"
oh no, oh no
I wearing size thirteen basketball shoes
and laugh at your fishnets
I'm freaked out and fucked up
and I'm standing alone in an alley with you
wanting to show you a cure for your hiccups
but instead I close my eyes
the needles are numbered so I'm writing you letters
and I cannot disguise the fact that I'm nervous when we are together
and so I fantasize
that the nights will get shorter and the days will get better
I feel a kick inside and decide
if this is a girl I'm naming her Heather
she'll look just like you but her hair will be feathered
she'll say how you died before you ever met her
her hair will be feathered
my head is pounding I can't stop the pounding
I think it is going to explode
there are plus and minuses to sinuitus
like sometimes I get to go home
but mostly it hurts so bad I think I'm dying
I just blew my nose and now I feel like crying
and the dreams that I have are all of my past lives
and the seizures would paralyze me in the night
and I wake up clutching my teddy bear tight
I'm drooling and trying to turn on the light
all I can do is hold fast and sit tight
but what if they forget 'cause you know they just might
so I tattoo instructions on my ass
that say "don't ever put this body is a casket
burn it and put the ashes in a basket
and throw them in the Puget Sound
I don't ever want to be under ground"
oh no, oh no
When you cry, do you realise,
That you don't know what you have inside?
And the seasons, they will change,
And the fakers, they will come and go away,
And I know we're underground.
Do you know, the love that wrote
This song for you, I hoped you knew.
And the seasons, they will change,
And the fakers, they will come and go away,
And I know we're underground.
Please, please, believe me,
And the reasons why,
This rapport can't die, so lets say goodnight,
Because I need you here by my side.
Is time asleep? A soul to reap
What we have sown, what have we sown?
And the seasons, they will change,
And the fakers, they will come and go away,
And I know we're, and I know we're underground.
Please, please, believe me,
And the reasons why,
This rapport can't die, so lets say goodnight,
Because I need you here by my side.
Oh, I'm underground.
When you cry, do you realise,
And you can't see yourself in the mirror anymore
And your alone and green and cold as the sea
And if you go down I will follow you underground
And you can't close your eyes anymore
And you can't dream
Just because you fucked up doesn't mean it's ok
To stand around pulling down the roof with your hands
Hoping nobody notices
But if you go far I will fill your mouth with the sour taste
And you can't hear yourself anymore
And you can't sing
What makes you think I won't ridicule you?
What makes you think I'll avoid you?
What makes you think I'll steal your fingerprints?
What makes you think I will forget this?
What makes you think I won't hurt you?
What makes you think I won't cut you?
And you just bleed for eternal time
And plead with confess like a sea, confessed what you need
And if you go far I will fill your mouth with the sour taste
If you rile I will meet you there on a higher plane
Time’s all still on this cool mountain top
I’m bookin’ in for the broken
Time’s all still on this cool mountain top
I’m bookin’ in for the broken
Come on baby take me underground
Underground where love is found
I’m lookin’ for love
Come on baby take me underground
Underground where love is found
I’m lookin’ for love
I wanna see you
I wanna feel you
I wanna dance all underneath your skin
I wanna move to your every whim
I wanna see you
I wanna feel you
I wanna dance all underneath your skin
I wanna move to your every whim
Come on baby take me underground
Underground where love is found
I’m looking for love
Come on baby take me underground
Underground where love is found
I’m looking for love
I’m looking for
Take me down to some where I don’t (I don’t know) x3
Take me down to some where I don’t (Take me down, take me down) x3
Time’s all still on this cool mountain top
I’m bookin’ in for the broken
"The Boogie Man"
I'm the Boogie Man/ I don't think we've had the pleasure
I'm the Boogie Man/ and if it pleases you
(Repeat)
Here's bedtime story for the children of the morning
Don't you want to join my army of militant brats
We'll start a revolution, write a brand new constitution
Just what do you think your parents would say about that?
(Chorus)
Sha-boom tick-tock don't you worry that the world might stop
If we forgot to keep up with the payments
Sha-boom tick-tock don't you worry 'bout my heart,child
Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated
I'm the Boogie Man/ I don't think we've had the pleasure
I'm the Boogie Man/ and if it pleases you
(Repeat)
We'll eat the bread, we'll drink the wine, we'll wash it down with turpentine
We'll pillage in the village till there's nothing left behind
We'll conquer in the name of God we'll kill them all we'll drink their blood
And if they don't like it we'll leave them all behind
(Chorus)
(Repeat chorus faster)
I'm the Boogie Man/ I don't think we've had the pleasure
I'm the Boogie Man/ and if it pleases you
(Repeat)
Why don't you please go with me underground
Down under seas, you and me underground
Once I dreamed I was on a basement tape
Took in just one take
Oh Lord, we gained our world distribution by relevant means
Jazz folk-rock fusion appealed to the teens
Why don't ya please go with me underground
Where love is free and supergroups can be found
Take the plunge now deep into the earth
Where heavy sets do lurk
Oh you and I and mystery follows close at our heels
Whispering secrets and travelling concealed
Down under cities and the roots of the trees
Oh how I love you in times such as these
We shall sail off over rainbows till we spy the lands that come together
Smiles will greet us, heads will turn to meet us as we make the scene, as we would make the scene
Oh won't you please go with me underground
Oh won't you please go with me underground
She heard the voices
She played with fairies
She lived a thousand lives?
I stole it from the underground
I wasn't expecting to be here this long
I stole it from the underground
And now I can't get home (x2)
He liked to kiss her
Beast with two backs
They can share her fire
I stole it from the underground
I wasn't expecting to be here this long
I stole it from the underground
And now I can't get home (x2)
I stole from, the underground
I don't live for long
I stole from, the underground
I don't live for long
I stole from, the underground
I stole it from the underground
I wasn't expecting to be here this long
I stole it from the underground
And now I can't get home (x2)
I stole it from the underground
I wasn't expecting to be here this long
I stole it from the underground
It's nothing you can wear
the fascist anti-fashion jades me
and no one's running scared
I wanna smash the mold that made me
Somehow I think it's all gone wrong
'cause now I find myself in a world where I belong
and I won't be staying long
'cause the underground ain't underground no more
no the underground ain't underground no more
and I don't know what's in store
but to me we all look bored
'cause the underground ain't underground no more
There's nothing left to prove
everybody's nuts and bleeding
my pain has been abused
It sounds the same but it's lost the feeling
Somehow I think we lost our way
'cause now I find myself in a world afraid to hate
and I just can't relate
'cause the underground ain't underground no more
no the underground ain't underground no more
and I don't know what's in store
It's become their corporate whore
'cause the underground ain't underground no more
'cause the underground ain't underground no more
no the underground ain't underground no more
and I don't know what's in store
look at me I'm fucking bored
'cause the underground ain't underground no more
For me it's hard to say
(hard to say, hard to say)
And this might not be the way
And if you want to stay
My ghetto prince is smiling underground
And it makes me feel good to know you died
(died, died)
And this may not be the time
(time)
See I drank two things of wine
But I think that you will find
(find, find)
And my ghetto prince is smiling underground
My ghetto prince is smiling underground
Ain't got no guarantee
And I know it's hard to see
But there's a little more to me
(a little more to me)
And my ghetto prince is smiling from underground
Yeah my ghetto prince is smiling underground
But only for a while
(a while)
I still think I need your smile
(smile)
All the while
(while)
And my ghetto prince is smiling underground
Yeah my ghetto prince is smiling underground
Now this may not be the time
(time, time)
Cause I drank two things of wine
But I think that you will find
I try and get some love from up high
there just ain't enough to go around
How you doing bro-is New York
holding you up, or is it letting you down?
I have
missed you all heaps and I've re-planted
my feet back in the underground
I'm a hustler
hustler!
I'll never give up the underground
I came back to pay respect
to another fallen angel
at the old canteen
someone had to float the cash
to pay up for the wake and so we all agreed
We're all hustlers
hustlers!
I try and get some love from up high
there just ain't enough to go around
someone had to pay up for the wakes
taking place down in the underground
We're all hustlers
hustlers!
I try and get some love from up high
there just ain't enough to go around
someone had to pay up for the wakes
If you don't walk with me, I will walk alone
Hard enough to believe in myself
When I know they don't believe in me
Unwilling to change for society
I'll be who I wanna be
I wanna tear it up, tear it out
Get my aggression out
This is what we're here for, control the dance floor
This is why we're here
I said, this is why we're here
So when will it end, when will it end
When will they comprehend, comprehend
That we will overcome this system
I said this is why we're here
They keep on kicking me down, kicking me down
Tryin' to keep me underground, underground
But did I mention we were paving the way
For the new breed of bad seed
We'll never let up until we hear every voice scream
Screamin' these words, screamin' these words
'Til every voice is heard, voice is heard
They keep on screamin' these words, screamin' these words
'Til every voice is heard...
Calling from the underground!
I can feel it in the air I breathe!
I can see we all agree
Unwilling tochange for society
We'll be who we wanna be
We are the underground
We are the underground
Let’s take it down to the underground,
The only safe place is down,
And we’ll find no one around,
Let’s take it down.
If you know what I need,
Will you tell me please,
And we’ll find no one around,
Let’s take it down.
Even with my disguise,
You hit me right between the eyes,
And what’s down there within,
I’m on the outside looking in.
If you’d like time to stand still,
I’d understand you know I will,
‘Cause if you know what you need,
Will you tell me please.
So let’s take it down to the underground,
The only safe place is down,
And we’ll find no one around,
Let’s take it down,
You won't realize I'm venomous
You'll fall ill after hearing this
I can't think straight, I'll mix you up
No recipe no formula
I'm like a chain-saw, I'll spit and sing
The words that cut you limb from limb
Cut out of a pattern to nothing familiar
I went out to find a funeral
No one died, I was waiting
None will rise, dawn is beautiful
Underground I will haunt you
Well it's easy to be with this
Just take some notes we'll take a piss
On all the shit that sounds so typical
We're fully automatic and we will kill
When amnesia sets in again
Forget yourself remember this that
We are so special
We're nothing for real
I went out to find a funeral
No one died, I was waiting
None will rise, dawn is beautiful
Long time ago
We found this place
Thousands of years
We crossed the interstellar space
World after world
Sowing the seeds
Another planet
For a new genetic breed
This atmosphere is hostile
That's why we have to meet
Underground
You're like a death-bringing storm
Come, see your ancestors
Underground
We gave them mind
Taught our love
And then retired deep down
To the planet's core
Over the time
Their cultures grew
But they developed violence,
And that was new
This atmosphere is hostile
That's why we have to meet
Underground
You're like a death-bringing storm
Come, see your ancestors
Underground
Religion is the root of sin
Killing the weak
They let the genocide begin
They know no bounds
They learned to lie
The human race has failed
And now they're gonna die
This atmosphere is hostile
That's why we have to meet
Underground
You're like a death-bringing storm
Come, see your ancestors
Underground
You had the earth for a while
Destroyed it all, mile for mile
And so you're gonna die
Our wrath will cover the sun
Because we have to move on
Your corpses will remain
Look at the front page; turn on the TV
They fire another round at you and me
Their guns are loaded; they're takin' aim
Nobody told them we're not all the same
No paranoia; nobody could
Just write it off as being Hollywood
The innuendo between the lines
Leaves no confusion 'bout what's on their minds (whoaa)
I won't go underground
I won't turn and flee
I won't bow the knee
I won't go underground
I won't run and hide
From the rising tide
I won't go underground
I won't compromise
What the world denies
I won't go underground
And I'm not ashamed
Of the cross I've claimed (Noooo)
Listen: They've taken notes on what we say
You know they'd like to lock us all away
Can't stop the movement; can't make it slow
Persecution always makes us grow
They've got my number; it's no surprise
I'm here and wearing no disguise
Bring out the lions and heat up the fire
It's not enough to stop this man's desire (Noooo)
I won't go underground
I won't turn and flee
I won't bow the knee
I won't go underground
I'll keep holding fast
To the very last
I won't go underground
I will turn my cheek
I will boldly speak
I won't go underground
I am not ashamed of the cross I've claimed
I know the Spirit behind this force
It's not surprising if you know the Source
I'll pray for freedom for helpless ones
And I'll keep standing till the new day dawns (whoaaa)
I won't go underground
I won't turn and flee
I won't bow the knee
I won't go underground
I won't run and hide
From the rising tide
I won't go underground
I won't compromise
What the world denies
I won't go underground
I am not ashamed
Of the cross I've claimed
I won't go underground
And I won't lay low
As the hatreds grow
I won't go underground
(whoaaa)
I won't go underground
(I won't, I won't)
It's been a long year, living underground
With no place to call my own
And there's no shelter here, standing in the cold
And nobody even knows
Oh lord, you let me down
Laid my friend beneath the ground
Burn my letters, hold my calls
'Till there's nothing left at all
A week's gone by, the changes written on the wall
He was a boy about my age
He slipped and fell into a never-ending sleep
Left his stories on the page
Oh lord, you let him down
Cut him off and shut him up
How'd you like it if I played you just the same?
Oh wait, I think that I just did
It's been a long year, living underground
Hanging pictures on the wall
Won't you break me from this prison cell so cold?
And lead me down that hall
Oh lord, you let us down
Cut the cord and watch us burn
Won’t you laugh it up, there’s more to go around
Sitting by a judas mantel
underneath where i cant tell
found the places im destroying
only hoped youd be there still
could not find a way to be it
i don't even mind this time
here wed like to get things over
life love anything at all
and when the morning comes
well sit here and when the atom
breaks well just stare
and my life goes underground
and my life goes underground
sitting by a judas mantel
underneath well ive been there
could not right
the only pieces
test out anything you will
and when the morning comes
well sit here and when the atom
breaks well just stare
and my life goes underground
and my life goes underground
sitting by a judas mantel
very well what we define
counted up the broken pieces
here we want to redefine
all dementia memory brought for
all the weakness we cant tell
understood that i discover
right here everything is well
and when the morning comes
well sit here
and when the saddle breaks
ill stand still
and my life goes underground
and my life goes underground
if i left it all the same well it
doesnt mean that its
not personal
and i never understood why the
faces faded its so irrational
as the atoms start to phase and
i knew it couldnt mean that
much to me
and i never understood where
the friends all go its
You're speaking of 84
The old times that you adore
But, where were you at that time
Seven years old?
You say that you're one of a kind
And think that you're far from the trends
Well, I've got news for you,
You're creating one more
Open your closed eyes now
Lock up your ears
Release your narrowed mind
And see things clear
You're trapped in the underground
No, there is only one way,
And that is your way
You have such a boring closed mind
Either it's white or it's black
So, you make up your own rules
About 'true' and flase
So get out of my sight
I'm laughing too much about you
So, try stand in my way
I'll for sure move you
Open your narrowed eyes now
Lock up your ears
Release your closed mind
And see things clear
Underground
You're speaking of 84
The old times that you adore
But, where were you at that time
Seven years old?
You have such a boring closed mind
Either it's white or it's black
So, you make up your own rules
About 'true' and flase
So get out of my sight
I'm laughing too much about you
So, try stand in my way
I'll for sure move you
Open your closed eyes now
Lock up your ears
Release your narrowed mind
And see things clear
"Nothing against the underground scene itself. Juct a kick on
those who bury themselves in the past and never can accept
fresh and new elements into music. Old music is great, but not
an argument for not progressing. Another kick on the jerks who
try to be cool by pretending that they have been into (for
example) black metal since it started (though they are 16-17
years old and it started over 10 years ago). Not to be taken
If life is down the line, you can feel the vibe of the underground
No Christmas cards to send, no fortunes will be spent in the underground
Way down here it's hot, in my private lair
I might lose my mind, but I don't care
I'm true to my school, true to the underground
[Chorus:]
It's a nameless day, but we're okay
The underground is the place to stay
Lost and found with no hope for tomorrow
Goin' down?
If you're looking for a name, cuz you're all alone just go underground
You can have a lot of fun if lady wicked your way comes in the underground
Gotta get away from president hail
We ain't no playing tricks, just give me fix
Stimulate my brain oh yeah, I need the underground!
[Chorus]
[Bridge:]
You want subterranean banana from your subterranean bwuana
Where it's hot as hell, I can serve you very well
It's a rumble in the jungle?
A narrow path to eternity lies underground
Our city's screaming as the siren's scary sound
The moon is lost. The sun looks like a hole
The clouds are burning as the creatures start to crawl
Restricted areas, Forbidden deadly zones
Beneath the surface we are fighting and we hope
Maybe one day we'll see again the light
But till this time we straggle hard just to survive
Chorus:
There is a place for us to hide
It lies Underground
It's in there
Under the ground we'll find a way out!
Lights out the warning that the danger is so near
The kids are praying for the threat to disappear
We'll fight back. Resistance will arise
We'll stay forever alive
Chorus:
There is a place for us to hide
It lies Underground, Deep Underground
Chorus:
There is a place for us to hide
It lies Underground
It's in there
Under the ground
We dream our way out
We'll dig our way out
the thoughts that we embrace unfolding what we never
knewthe shaking through has just begun ain't over
though the day
is through. our time does test our love and never will
work be done if sleep could steal the madness it would
break
again in morning come. the thoughts that we escape
aren't
brought by our ignorance portray the insignificance of
the thoughts that we embrace and though we'll disappear
leave these fragments of our shattered youth it's only
time
and it holds no meaning util it gone. And I can't look
away,
you know, from all the things that bring me down
what happens here in solitude is only distance from the
ground
I can't look
away, you know, but still it will not bring me down as
human
riddles empty out the sanctity thats hardly
found
hear our hearts cry for you
why can't we through futility our only hope convey more
than
the urgency
why can't we just by listening bring passage
to the beauty hidden in our son is understand or is
there
found no heart of all
why can't we just change the world
Lowe-Tulin
You don't know how much I want to hold you
You don't know how much I really care
When you're so far away, it's so hard to be true
It's not fair, it's not fair.
I'm out with all the other girls now
My broken heart's in need of some repair
When you're so far away, it's so hard to be true
It's not fair, it's not fair.
I sat at home almost every night
Waiting for you to call
All of my friends told me I was right
It didn't matter at all.
You don't know how much I want to hold you
You don't know how much I really care
Without you by my side
Darling, I will surely die.
And when that judgment day comes
That into each one of our lives must fall
I won't be afraid, I know you'll be y my side
As we mount those gates to Heaven
We'll see Gabriel blowing his horn
I know everything will be fine
Everything will be honky dory.
Underground,
They want us to go underground.
Underground,
They want us to go underground.
You've got the right,
You've got the right to say what you think
You've got to fight,
'Cause they're leading us to the brink.
Fireball,
There's going to be a fireball.
Fireball,
There's going to e a fireball.
Never a time,
never a time like this before.
There won't be a sign,
There was never a time like this before.
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh (repeat four times)
Underground,
They want us to go underground.
Underground,
They want us to go underground.
Throw down a line,
You've got the right to stay alive.
You've got to fight,
and she was gone too young
and she is underground
does she feel no pain
now does she see me clear
can she hear the sound
we have called her name
she said
i cannot find
born to lose
live to die
go far away
to a place you've been before
if it hurts to stay then go
if you go then don't go far
cuz no matter where you land
it's exactly where you are
i watch the world turn
and leave the tv on
then she disappears
now does she know my name
is she really gone
you know i'm still right here
she said
don't bring me down
stay don't go
if it hurts to stay then go
Words and music by Bob Hartman and John Elefante
Based on John 15:18, Philippians 1:28, Romans 8:37
Look at the front page, turn on the tv
They fire another round at you and me
Their guns are loaded, they're taking aim
Nobody told them we're not all the same
No paranoia, nobody could
Just write it off as being Hollywood
The innuendo between the lines
Leaves no confusion 'bout what's on their minds
(Chorus)
I won't go underground
I won't turn and flee
I won't bow the knee
I won't go underground
I won't turn and hide from the rising tide
I won't go underground
I won't compromise what the world denies
I won't go underground
And I'm not ashamed of the cross I've claimed
They're taking notes on what we say
You know they'd like to lock us all away
Can't stop the movement, can't make it slow
Persecution always makes us grow
They got my number, it's no surprise
I'm here and wearing no disguise
Bring on the lions and heat up the fire
It's not enough to stop this man's desire
(2nd Chorus)
I won't go underground
I won't turn and flee
I won't bow the knee
I won't go underground
I keep holding fast till the very last
I won't go underground
I will turn my cheek, I will boldly speak
I won't go underground
I am not ashamed of the cross I've claimed
I know the Spirit behind this force
It's not surprising if you know the source
I pray for freedom for helpless ones
And I keep standing till the new day dawns
And I won't lay low as the hatreds grow
I'll tell you a story about a man
A leader, so noble, ‘til he bought it
To how we defined him, above us all
Now he's got up so high that everyone will fall
(CHORUS 1)
Do you hear me when I feel so mislead
By what he said
Your color is fading, there's nothing left
Just pride, and indignance, and disrespect
All that you were saying was, "Yes We Can!"
But nothing you have done is giving us a chance
(CHORUS 2)
Do you hear me when I feel so mislead
Silence brings me down to the underground
Still I say that there's no way that you could make any more of this
(CHORUS 3)
Do you hear me when I feel so mislead
Silence brings me down to the underground
I want to see you
But I cannot bring myself to
I want to see you
But I cannot bring myself to
I want to see you
Want to hear you
But naturally I cannot
Want to see you
Want to hear you
It's best to keep it underground
Underground
They want to see you
But they cannot bring themselves to
They want to see you
But they cannot bring themselves to
It's so worrying, this feeling
Tears my stomach into shreds
To meet it, to forget it
It's best to just leave this underground
Underground
Every turn and step I take
And every thought and choice I make
By oh so much, I owe so much to you
I moved the problem far away
But realise now the problem's here to stay
I don't need your redemption
I don't want you to deceive me
And I don't need your forgiveness
I only want you to believe me
Do you see me here?
I'm standing naked
Do you see me here?
I'm on my knees
Now all my life I've been wandering
Looking for teachers with the keys
Nothing found still searching for sound, underground
Now let me tell you about a story
It's about a man consumed with vice
He's theosophical in nature
And hedonistic in disguise
And all his life he's been wandering
Looking for teachers with the keys
Nothing found still searching for sound, underground
I don't need your redemption
I don't want you to deceive me
And I don't need your forgiveness
I only want you to believe me
And all my life I've been wandering
Looking for teachers with the keys
Nothing found still searching for sound, underground
And all my life I've been wandering
Looking for teachers with the keys
Nothing found still searching for sound, underground
Wheels go 'round, from end to end,
A passage run, go down, descend
And underground the air is stale
With blurring light and endless rail
On the wheels in motion, underground
Silent noise, relentless sound
Through shuttered aisle, the wheels go 'round
The day is night, yet never still,
From port to port, with miles to kill
On wheels in motion, underground
Just the locomotion, underground
Windows dark, no view obscured
With moving eyes, no sight assured
Yet moving on, from place to place,
Through corridors, without a face
On the wheels in motion, underground
The time has finally come,
We can shape our destiny.
Together we will have the strength to be...
We share a common bond
With all humanity.
We can't wait for tomorrow...
(Chorus) The future is now,
There's no better time to get in line.
The future is here,
Today, hey.
The future is now,
Let's stand up and fight, we know it's right.
Nothing will stand in our way.
Like a beacon in the night,
The truth is shining on.
There's no need for us to be afraid.
We can't give up the fight,
We have to carry on.
We can't put off till tomorrow
What we can do today.
(Chorus)
We have got to understand,
The future's in our hands.
(Chorus)
Tiny speakers are mounted into the ceiling
Barely visible next to the grey-white tiles.
Dripping wet with the syrup-sweet production,
all the words for the empty in screaming piles?
We'll find the truth down in the basement,
hiding out beneath the pavement.
Just beneath the reach of pajamas on a sea of green?
The vision is underground.
The culture is out of bounds.
It's still a persuasive sound,
The music is still around but its underground.
Choreography never replaced conviction,
smoke and lighting can not manufacture style.
Propaganda can make truth sound like fiction,
greater numbers deluded, but not worthwhile?
Down below in the resistance.
Sheer defiance builds in cadence.
Pure and passionate, that's right,
there's nothing here to lose?
The vision is underground.
The culture is out of bounds.
It's still a persuasive sound,
The music is still around but its underground.
Real change doesn't come from a mandate.
Again, the one who's gonna sink in
But this fills my mind
Again, never gonna tell you to stop
With whom I trust in
Say it to your mind and you become chemical
The truth in all mankind
Again, again, I think I'm gonna tell you to stop
To my mind, let's go
You wanna bring me down, but leave me underground
You're underground
I won't give into you, find someone else to screw
You're going down
You're underground
Again, again, I think I'm gonna say it
Speak what's on your tongue
Don't get my strength and bring it down
Choke your feeble mind
Say it to your mind and you become chemical
Everyone obey
Again, again, I think I'm gonna tell you to stop
You never obey
You wanna bring me down, but leave me underground
You're going down
I won't give into you, find someone else to screw
You're underground
But it doesn't matter what you do, I won't give in to you
You wanna bring me down, but leave me underground
You're going down
I won't give into you, find someone else to screw
You're underground
But it doesn't matter what you do, I won't give in to you
I won't give in to you, I won't give in to you
Oppressive and overcrowded
No way out
You're trapped inside the maze
Loudspeakers in every corner
No licence
To heave a sigh
Climbing high
Sinking into the ground
Creeping like a rat
Your place is ready, you're welcome
Join this cheerful cattle car
Rushing down
Pushing anyone
I wonder what you're missing
Through smell of rust and backwater
Like rotting meat in a dump
If your eyes are lifeless
While you lean against the wall
At the end of the tunnel
Will you find your redemption?
Talk in a loud voice about nonsense
Find your heroes in a free newspaper
Wasting your poor life performing
Stupid rituals without understanding why
Don't get up late in the morning
This is your doom twice a day
If your eyes are lifeless
While you lean against the wall
You may think it's your duty
And you'll win your prize but
At the end of the tunnel
I keep straining my ears to hear a sound
Maybe someone is digging underground
Or have they...
Yo man Mother Fuckers are clowns man; Hip-hop's too nice
It's too pretty
What are you gonna do to it Necro?
Take a razor, and slice it!
Yo peep this shit like this
Kill the head kill the body and knows who i'ma ruin
When I float like a dead body and sting like peroxide on wounds
I'm rolling a fatty like death is coming believe it
Recognize the chain of command I deliver the pain you're receiving
Brain washing has officially begun
Kid you peep a psycho holding a butcher knife dancing like reruns
It's raining, as God pisses on earth
I drop bile like a vagina dismisses on birth
Devour my shower that's golden
I'm puffing the sacks golden
Smolden the flesh that holding the fresh cancer infested colon
How can I make my point to you fools?
I'll drop a dead A&R; off a roof and on his chest it says Necro rules
I'm a blow the constitution
My shit stays bubbled like light burned flesh
My rhymes are acid in Clorox solution
Your eyes will burn once the acid hits
You'll be blinded like Rosie O'Donnell jumped up 10 feet in the air and
flashed her tits
Life is shady G
In 1976 my parents created me
I've been flipping since 1983
I always took pain as a game
When I was 6 I cracked my head open and looked in the mirror and saw my brain
Wonder why I'm like an icicle?
At 5 I was hit by a car riding my tricycle
A hit and run son
Mad young in the hospital receiving stitches
Made me vicious
Peeping cretons with Mephisto in their eyes made me suspicious
Running through glen in PJ's as a young buck
I didn't dance that fresh I burnt ants to death.
Taste me you will see more is all you need dedicated to how I'm killing you
You're unhealthy your a felon your PO checks your Bladder
You're an addict; if you beat me I'll deliver you death on a platter
The customer's always right but this time the customers left
On a stretcher gasping for breath
Cipher flows like rolly polly
Kill yourself slowly plus you're already dead if you're homely
So bitch, there's a little red dot on your skull so pray
Most of New York's population is filled with mental patients
Pretending to be normal, pretending to be mental patients
Got them raping by the pile
Watch out for goons of bile infested with smiles and dreams of molesting
your child
You got a black glock with the extra clip when shit gets thick
You gotta punch a kid dead in the nose if he ever tries to front and dis
You need to puff a bag of dro's when listening to brutal shit like this
You gotta rock a lambskin with the spermicidal for a nasty bitch
Make sure your girl's syphilis is clean before I slide my tongue up
And I, don't you dare ruin my dinner
My ventriloquism hits you like ism
Sprayed with raid mixed with prism mixed blades butcher with sadism
I rip your gat when I twist my wrists
1 finger, 2 finger, 3 fingers, 4 fingers fuck it the whole fist
Rammed up your wife's ass gets murdered type fast
Blast scum up your BC masks
And dirty flash pipes flash
Pulling and coming in side like sluts like Kimberly Drumming
You know the steez, I slay my prey
Day by Day
Kill yourself, on some euthanasia shit
Rocking Tim's on razor on the tip
Today's the day to flip on a decapitation tip
I'm fascinated with
Leaving you lacerated split on point like an assassination hit your not
Some one to have patients with
I'm better off
Letting off
Two clips at you face set it off
To decide is better off
Dead it off
Inject 'till you feel correct
Feel the effects of my hex
Force you to have sex with techs
Chopped at funeral next
Buy my poison I got triple six in my beeper
I talk to my self cause giving my own self therapy is cheaper
The violence hits you like a spliff spreading some holy pop
Penetrate your skull like an obituary riff and slowly we ride
You'll soon be fractions and numerator
Of a denominator when I play dominator
When you're dead your brains embalmed with data
Keeping Vietnam through Vader
Futuristic butcher CD rom cremator
Your spine cracks in 3 D like Imax
You won't be superman no more feel the pain climax
No Anastasia, even if the doctor takes some codeine and combines crack
Fine packed and mixed with fenal barbatol liquid
And a razor blade dime sack
Nothing numbs like your future thumbs
I threw you in a wheel chair your a plumb
A pebble, a worm, a snail
I'll be a metal patient with a red apple on thorosime when you inhale
Uhhhhh Uhhhhhh Uhhhhhh
Another blunt filled with dust
And another blunt filled
And another blunt filled
And another blunt filled with dust
Last week someone tried to put me in a coffin
That's the second time a nigger tried to kill me I'm starting to feel
important
For some cats smile
Ain't their style
But there's something so evil
About seeing a murderer smile its vile
Gore is a tattoo on your mind, suicide is a laxative
It will eat you up inside like you swallowed maggots by accident
I mean line to main-tain I'm fighting the biggest fight of my life
You got a black glock with the extra clip when shit gets thick
You gotta punch a kid dead in the nose if he ever tries to front and dis
You need to puff a bag of dros when listening to brutal shit like this
You gotta rock a lambskin with the spermacide for a nasty bitch
You fucking dirt bags
*Repeat till fade*
I keep straining my ears to hear a sound
She said I wanna run around get some peace of mind...I
know better now not gonna be that type...So you been
down, you've been falling out...it's gonna get the best
of you why don't you see it when you're, when you're
through? Ah...oh...the best ain't gone...I'm holding on
if the best ain't gone So what do you say when every-
thing is gone away?...What do you do, oh, when the best
is 'gone'?...Oh, you've sewed up your reasons I've got a
petition you wanna believe in...it's gonna be the best of
your, gonna be the best of your Life Ah...oh...the best
ain't gone...I'm holding on if the best ain't gone
Ah...oh...the best ain't gone...I'm holding on if the
best ain't gone... I'm holding on...The best ain't
gone...I'm holding on....the best ain't gone, no, no, no,
Six feet of earth above my head
keeps me safe from what she says
six walls of wood to keep them out
their smart remarks, the screams the shouts
they scream, they shout
theres only one way to drown them out
I hear your voice I hit the ground
you looked for me but I'm not around
In that small cafe there I wrote it down
I looked for you, you were not around
you're the buring lie that kills my child
he's gone underground
I've gone underground
I've gone underground
I've gone underground
Some come to pay their last respects
or beckon me to come around
they leave dried flowers in the air
or place their feelings on the doorstep
at best they try to understand
and offer plans, most futile plans
here in this darkness I can see
your skin is the closest thing to grace
it dancelike goes upon my fingers
and feelings fly, they're still alive
There's only one way to drown them out
I hear your voice I hit the ground
you looked for me but I'm not around
In that small cafe there I wrote it down
I looked for you, you were not around
you're the buring lie that kills my child
she's gone underground
I've gone underground
I've gone underground
I've gone underground
I've gone underground
I've gone underground
Underground
Six feet of earth above my head
don't keep me safe from what she says
six walls of wood don't keep them out
these frightful screams come from inside
they lay with me here through the night
[Chorus]
What does it mean to be UNDERGROUND?
It means you gotta be free to be UNDERGROUND

[Chorus]
[Verse Five]
To be underground simply means that you're down

You could be a classy lady or a whore
But if you protest the war, for sure, you UNDERGROUND
If the government can't see you, or deceive you
You love your people, believe you UNDERGROUND
If you refuse to play the game, you go against the grain
You ridin the train, you UNDERGROUND - get it!

(Alright!) Turn it up ah, turn it up ah
Turn it up ah, turn it up ah
Turn it up ah, turn it up ah
No one can blame you for walking away
Too much rejection
No love injection
Life can be easy
It's not always swell
Don't tell me truth hurts, little girl
'Cause it hurts like hell
But down in the underground
You'll find someone true
Down in the underground
A land serene
A crystal moon, ah, ah
It's only forever
Not long at all
Lost and lonely
That's underground
Underground
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
Ha ha, I'm underground
Heard about a place today
Nothing never hurts again
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
Ah ha I'm underground
Sister sister, please take me down
Ah ah I'm underground
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
No one can blame you for walking away
Too much rejection
No love injection
But down in the underground
You'll find someone true
Down in the underground
A land serene
A crystal moon, ah, ah
It's only
It's only forever
It's not long at all
The lost and the lonely
That's underground
Underground
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
Heard about a place today
Nothing never hurts again
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
Ha ha, I'm underground
Sister, sister, please take me down
Ah ha I'm underground
Daddy, daddy, get me out
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
Ah ha, I'm underground
Sister sister please take me down
Ah ha I'm underground
Ah ha I'm underground
Ah ha I'm underground
Daddy Daddy please
Daddy Daddy please
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Wanna live underground
Sister sister take take me down
Verse 1
We travel the night
To listen to all the things you fear
We go bump in the night
Can you fell the black inside of me
Bridge
So we arrive, dream over night
On a silent distant light
If we perceive and you believe
Then we stay hidden in the night
Chorus
In the day light
We feel all right
Till the sundown
Then we dig 10 feet underground
Verse 2
Like angels in flight
We travel the night in search of you
We know what you feel
Of course we know how to make it real
Repeat Bridge
Repeat Chorus
Middle 8
Day light, all right, sundown, 10 feet underground
Repeat Bridge

Coda
It feels paradise
You may think that you’re so connected
So in touch that you don’t suspect it might collapse around you
You know you’re holding on so tight
Look around, man the sky is falling
While you’re sleeping I’ll be crawling to a safer shelter
Gotta get away from all this light
You can kill the messenger, the message still rings true
There’s only one thing you can I can do
Let’s go underground, underground
Jump into the earth without a sound
Underground, underground
The world is going up, I’m going down
Into the underground
You rely on the infrastructure
Don’t believe anything could rupture all this glowing beauty
You know you’re staying on the track
Buckle in, man the ride is bumpy
Your roller coaster car is jumping off the ragged rails
And you know you’re never going back
Don’t you want to get away from all this noise and light
Let’s go out of our minds, and out of sight
Into the underground, underground
Jump into the earth without a sound
Underground, underground
The world is blowing up, I’m going down
Let the castles burn, that’s none of our concern
You and I can dance the night away
Into the underground
And even when it falls apart I wanna be with you
So grab that shovel, you know what to do
We’re going underground, underground
Jump into the earth without a sound
Underground, underground
Just look at all the groovy things I found
I put on my facesomething tells me not to go
seen it all before
don't know what I'm looking for
it suits me perfectly
drowning in conformity
I feel insane playing games playing games
In the underground
we're together but lost
flashing lights in my eyes
and the smiles are all lies
we're all ugly down here
the same hopes the same fear
take me underground
it's addictive I guess
wicked thoughts I bear
hysteric smiles omnipotent dreams
they're all their mother's kids
violent insecurity
it scares me secretly
power of jealousy
I am a name I'm a face just a face
In the underground
we're together but lost
flashing lights in my eyes
and the smiles are all lies
we're all ugly down here
the same hopes the same fear
take me underground
it's addictive I guess
would you like? would you like to go?
I don't mind, anything will do
A lotta people ask me
Where the fuck I've been at the last few years
Shit, I don't know
But I do know I'm back now, haha
Here comes the rain and thunder now
Nowhere to run, to run to now
I'll disappear, you'll wonder how
Lookin' for me, I'm underground
Here comes the rain and thunder now
Nowhere to run, to run to now
I'll disappear, you'll wonder how
Lookin' for me, I'm underground
Dre, I'm down here under the ground
Dig me up, broken tibias, fibias, yeah, fix me up
60 sluts, all of them dyin' from asphyxia
After they sip piss through Christopher Reeves sippy cup
Dixie cups, toxins, boxes of oxy pads
Enough oxy cotton to send a fuckin' ox to rehab
Whack job in a bag and a black stalkin' cap
Jackin' off to a hockey mask at a boxin' match
He can't say that, yes he can
I just did, faggot, now guess again
You better text message to your next of kin
Tell 'em shit's about to get extra messy especially when I flex again
Throw a fuckin' lesbian in wetzy men
So faggidy, faggidy, faggidy, raggidy Ann and Andy
No, raggidy, Andy and Andy, no, it can't be, it can't be
Yes, it can be, the fuckin' Antichrist is back
Danny and Satan in black satin panties
This is Amityville, calamity
Goddamn it, insanity pills, fanny pack filled with zanies
Through every nook and cranny, lookin' for trannies
Milk and cookies spilled on my silk negligee, lookie
Razor blades with me to make you bleed
Cases of Maybelline make up layin' on the table with weed
Slim Shady, shit sounds like a fable to me
Until he jumps out of the fuckin' toilet when you're takin' a pee
Here comes the rain and thunder now
Nowhere to run, to run to now
I'll disappear, you'll wonder how
Lookin' for me, I'm underground
Here comes the rain and thunder now
Nowhere to run, to run to now
I'll disappear, you'll wonder how
Lookin' for me, I'm underground
Six semen samples, 17 strands of hair
Found at the back of a van after the shoot with Vanity Fair
Hannah Montana, prepare to elope with a can opener
And be cut open like cantaloupe and canopy beds
And glad bags, yeah, glad to be back
'Cause last year was a tragedy that landed me smack dab in rehab
Fuckin' doctor, I ain't understand a damn word he said
I planned to relapse the second I walked out of that bitch
Two weeks in Brighton, I ain't enlightened
Bitin' into a fuckin' Vicadin like I'm a Viking
Oh, lighten the strikin', might be a fuckin' sign I need a psychic
Evaluation, fuck Jason, it's Friday the 19th
That means is just a regular day
And this is the kind of shit I think of regularly
Fuckin' lesbian shouldn't have had her legs in the way
Now she's pregnant and gay, missin' both legs and beggin' to stay
Here comes the rain and thunder now
Nowhere to run, to run to now
I'll disappear, you'll wonder how
Lookin' for me, I'm underground
Here comes the rain and thunder now
Nowhere to run, to run to now
I'll disappear, you'll wonder how
Lookin' for me, I'm underground
So tell the critics I'm back and I'm comin' to spit it back in abundance
Hit a fag with onions and split a bag of Funyuns
Mad at me? Understandable, cannibal, shootin' animal
Light up a cannon and have him catapult addin' a dog
Captain of the cult with an elite following
To turn Halloween back to a trick or treat holiday
Have Micheal Myers lookin' like a liar, swipe his powers
Replace his knife with flowers and a stack of fliers
Hit Jason Voorhees with a 40
Stuck a suppository up his ass and made him tell me a story
Gave Hannibal Lecter a fuckin' nectarine
And sat him in a fuckin' fruit and vegetable section
And gave him a lecture
Walked up Elm Street with a fuckin' wiffle bat, Drew
Fought Freddy Krueger and Edward Scissorhands, too
And came out with a little scratch, ooh
Lookin' like I got in a fuckin' pillow fight with a triple fat goose
Insanity, can it be vanity? Where is the humanity?
And havin' a twisted fantasy with an arm and leg amputee
Straight jacket with a hundred eight brackets
And a strap that wraps twice around my back, then they latch it
Cut your fuckin' head off and ask you where you headed off to
Get it, headed off to? Medic, this headache's awful
This anesthetic's pathetic, so's this diabetic waffle
And this prosthetic arm keeps crushin' my hard taco
Here comes the rain and thunder now
Nowhere to run, to run to now
I'll disappear, you'll wonder how
Lookin' for me, I'm underground
Here comes the rain and thunder now
Nowhere to run, to run to now
I'll disappear, you'll wonder how
Lookin' for me, I'm underground
So, it wasn't a choice, it was I had to do this
And now I got 90 days clean and that's all I have to share, thanks
Thanks for sharin', Brian, is there anyone else
Who would like to share this evenin'?
Yeah, I got somethin' to share
When you walked through the door you were queer to me
So come here, baby boy, just come here to me
You're a cock boy, everybody wants you
You're gayer than you would ever claim to
I won't have to rape you
So homie, lay down, down, down
Lay down, down, down, lay down, down, down
Lay down, lay down
Where's everybody goin'?
This always went over real big in Gay A
Okay wait, I got another one
I just love condoms and lots of cum
No one can blame you
For walking away
Too much rejection
No love injection
Life can be easy
It's not always swell
Don't tell me truth hurts, little girl
'Cause it hurts like hell (echo)
But down in the underground (oh oh oh oh oh)
You'll find someone true (down underground)
Down in the underground (oh oh oh oh oh)
A land serene (oh oh oh oh)
A crystal moon, ah, ah
It's only forever
Not long at all
Lost and lonely
That's underground
Underground
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here (heard about a place today)
I, I'm underground (nothing never hurts again)
Heard about a place today (daddy, get me out of here)
Where nothing never hurts again (wanna go underground)

i don't need your redemption
i don't want you to deceive me
and I don't need your forgiveness
i only want you to believe me
do you see me here
i'm standing naked
do you see me here on my knees
now all my life i've been wandering
looking for teachers with the keys
nothing found still searching
for sound...
underground
now let me tell you about a story
it's about a man consumed with vice
theosophical in nature
and hedonistic in disguise
and all my life he's been wandering
searchign for teachers with the keys
nothing found still searching for sound
underground...
A traveler from another dimension, forced to live his
life-sentence.
He climbed at the top of the clouds; fell again, 5
miles south of heaven.
And now they want to be his friends again.
And now they are lending their helping hands to him.
(It's not that easy) This is a time for reckoning!
He saw his life in form of cunning words. (That day he
struck a nerve.)
And claim the throne by falling down to hell, 5 miles
south of heaven...
Now they want to be on his side again.
He has come to claim what belongs to you.
You don't want to waste your breath on him.
Tim rules the throne, a time for reckoning.
And now they want to be on his side again.
He has come to claim the gift that belongs to you.
It's time for Tim to claim the first prize...
Now his the master of the skies.
Absolute power gone wrong.
You don't want to waste your breath on him.
Tim rules the throne, a time for reckoning.
Now they want to be on his side again.
He has come to claim what belongs to you.
You don't want to waste your breath on him.
Don't take the fire from your eyes
Must make them feel the heat
They build castles underground
For the rich politic elite
Keep all the home fires burning
Don't let the lights go out
The streets are empty
And there's nobody about
We'll be alright
In the morning time, yeah
We're doing fine
I'll see you on the night line
There's no need for you to fight, boys
Hang up all your guns
Find your mask
And as best as you can, get ready to run
Keep all the food lines moving
Don't come cryin' for more
The signs were there
You should have bought connections before
We'll be alright
In the morning time, yeah
We're doing fine
I'll see you on the night line
It's such a big joke
It's the talk of the town
All the planets to whom I spoke
Are trying their best to play it down
Don't take the fire from your eyes
Must make them feel the heat
But my head's unsteady
I can't seem to keep my feet
We'll be alright
In the morning time, yeah
We're doing fine
I'll see you on the night line
Jump off the Eiffel Tower
Just have a look around
Move fast, in the tunnels of the underground
Move fast, in the tunnels of the underground
Let's go
Let us go back to the time when the underground
Was the place where we all used to hide away
Let us go back to the streets where it all begun
How could I know, it was the last time I saw you?
Seventeen and believed in just anything
Could be true, could be bad, something in between
I recall all those lazy summer nights
And all I knew was the time I spent with you
I could easily stay, and never come home
Looking out on the field like its never been changed
The past is a place that you can never return to
Even though people say that this is where you belong
I could easily stay, and never come home
Looking out on the field like its never been changed
The past is a place that you can never return to
Even though people say that this is where you belong
I could always try to reach you
And it's pumping through my veins
And there's nothing I can do about it
(though people say that this is where you belong)
Let us go back to the time when the underground
It used to be our place it belonged to us
And I'd go back if I could but it's not the same
And now I know, it was the last time I saw you?
I could easily stay, and never come home
Looking out on the field like its never been changed
The past is a place that you can never return to
Even though people say that this is where you belong
I could easily stay, and never come home
Looking out on the field like its never been changed
The past is a place that you can never return to
Even though people say that this is where you belong
I could always try to reach you
And it's pumping through my veins
And there's nothing I can do about it
I could always try to reach you
And it's pumping through my veins
And there's nothing I can do about it
I could easily stay, and never come home
Looking out on the field like its never been changed
The past is a place that you can never return to
Even though people say that this is where you belong
I could always try to reach you
And it's pumping through my veins
Lead Vocal by Jim
There's a way I've been told
If we walk together
Keeps us from this cold.
On the sidewalks of these streets,
Lie the broken dreams
Scattered at our feet...
Lead me on, I don't mind
I'll come forward laughing everytime
All my friends, they've gone underground
Go underground.
There's a shadow on this land
A growing darkness
Cruel and senseless hand.
This block won't be the same
Now the music's there,
But somehow something's changed..
Lead me on, I don't mind
I'll come forward laughing everytime.
All my friends they've gone underground.
I got burned, left too quick
Got myself locked outside the heart of it
All my friends they've gone
Underground, go underground, go underground.
SOLO
There's a song that I've heard
Rising up above the streets
Of this crumbling world.
'Bout the sadness in every day
How it leaves and takes
A bit of your faith away...
Lead me on I don't mind
I'll come forward laughing everytime
All my friends they've gone
Underground.
I got burned left too quick
Got myself locked outside the heart of it
All my friends they've gone undergound
Go undergound, go underground.
There's something going on,
And I don't know what, but I feel it in the air...
Maybe we ought to run,
If you listen close, we'll let you know just where.
Just listen to me tonight.
Maybe you can pretend,
But the world we know might not come to an end.
But you must realize
That we have to go, and we will tell you where.
Don't talk in your sleep,
Because the walls might have ears.
And it's only fair,
That we should take you there.
(Chorus) Maybe we should all go underground
And try to live a life without the sun.
Please be careful not to make a sound,
Because there may not be room for everyone.
(Do you think you might...)
You may not understand,
But I really feel our fate is in our hands.
And if you follow us,
We'll lead you to a place where we can be.
Don't talk in your sleep,
Listen to me tonight.
We must prepare,
Cause we have to go somewhere.
(Chorus)
Do you think you're gonna miss the summertime,
And the sunshine on your face?
And if you think you're gonna miss the wintertime,
What if the winter never goes away?
Me and my girl are going underground
Got no time to tell you what we found
People in this world aren't very kind
And love is blind, love is blind
All we want is on our minds
We don't have a map, we don't follow signs
Seems useless for you to look for attack
No tracking us down and no bringing us back
Me and my girl are going underground
Got no time to tell you what we found
People in this world aren't very kind
And love is blind, love is blind
We are going very far
You can't take a plane, you can't take a car
Seems useless for you to look for attack
No tracking us down and no bringing us back
SOLO
All we want is on our minds
We don't have a map, we don't follow signs
Seems useless for you to look for attack
No tracking us down and no bringing us back
Me and my girl are going underground
Got no time to tell you what we found
People in this world aren't very kind
And love is blind, love is blind
Me and my girl are going underground
Got no time to tell you what we found
People in this world aren't very kind
Never thought we'd meet again
A young wanna-be and an old has-been
I wish I had a photo of this scene
I've suffered through dependencies
I still have violent tendencies
I could sell my life to "People Magazine"
But I don't care; I don't mind
Just leave me alone or leave me behind
I won't forget the way you let me down
But I've gone underground
So don't come any closer
I might kick you in the nuts
Can't place your face
Can't stand your band
I hate your guts
It's just like Andy Warhol said
Fifteen minutes and a kick in the head
I hope you don't want sympathy from me
There was I time I worshipped you
But now I scrape you off my shoe
I guess that's just the way it's meant to be
And you didn't care, so don't pretend
'Cause you weren't there; you weren't my friend
In the end my only friend's a loaded gun
And I hate everyone
So don't come any closer
I might kick you in the nuts
Can't place your face
Can't stand your band
I hate your guts
Don't come any closer
Don't come any closer
Don't come any closer
Don't come any closer to me
older brother can ya hear me
wish you could see me feeling good right now
tell my mother I can see her
that I've been dreamin' and I can show you how
seems twenty years that we've been reelin'
but you lost that feelin' and me I lost the fear somehow
hey father where's the boy you bleeded hung dry and cheated
it's me and I took the fall for you
down the road they call yesterday
I found my moment in the sun
let's hope the sun will be as kind today
for only this much I pray that someday
from the underground with all our friends around to bring ya down
who'll be there to save me?
they could shake you down but you won't give in to the underground
older brother can ya see me wish you could be me
walkin' in these shoes
to feel the weight of my conviction mental addiction
has got me down and losin' sleep
so if I try to make it real older brother would ya hear me?
and if I try again to feel older brother could ya heal me?
who'll be there to save me?
older brother can ya hear me, wish you could see me
see mother will hold the children
from all the world's pain
father still looks deep with eyes of hate
folding our arms
when the happiness falls apart from
all was unknown until you create the game
so it's time
clear our minds
underground
shut your eyes
follow the gun
quench the thirst for love
that you have kept from
only son that has held you up so high
feel like the road has been pushed away
and back again when mother will you
protect all of us somehow
so it's time
clear our minds
underground
I know you don't like what you see
Who do you want me to be?
I don't wanna know, I don't really care
I could've been more like you
But that was the wrong thing to do
I'm living a life that you wouldn't dare
I could take you there
Think you know me my friend
Guess again
Think you know where I am
Guess again
Don't follow me down underground
Turned my back on all I knew
I walked away from all that wasn't true
Everything I left behind
I moved ahead to see what I might find
You don't like my find
Think you know me my friend
Guess again
Think you know where I am
Guess again
We look so good
We look so good
We look so good together
We are underground
We are underground
We are underground
We don't care
We don't care
We don't care what you say about us

"Underground"
Stare at the gates, there's a time and place
When the lions arrive and they're comin' your way
Outback in the corner of a crooked town
Duck down, better hit the ground
This ain't no sunset cruise
No hope in hell someone's helpin' you
These hard knock streets ain't paved with gold
They were built by skin and bones
When it all comes tumblin' down
And the fear is in your heart
For a moment that you fell
Don't let it fall apart
Welcome to the underground
There's no way to turn back now
I'll show you what it's all about
Follow me I'll take you down
To the underground
If death's gonna deal you one more try
Then stare him stone cold in the eye
Don't be denied, just don't show your guard
Or the sweat and the panic starts
If you've been knocked out behind closed doors
Then come through the desert and name your horse
Rebuild the course and rewrite all the rules
Cause we weren't born to lose
When it all comes tumblin' down
And the fear is in your heart
For a moment that you fell
Don't let it fall apart
Welcome to the underground
There's no way to turn back now
I'll show you what it's all about
Follow me I'll take you down
To the underground
They'll hang you up
They'll bleed you dry
The hand that feeds you
Might rob you blind
For all you're worth
Just one last chance
Hold on tight
Because you're not dead yet
Welcome to the underground
There's no way to turn back now
I'll show you what it's all about
Follow me I'll take you down
To the underground
They'll hang you up
They'll bleed you dry
Welcome to the underground
They'll hang you up
They'll bleed you dry
pickin' my skin in the evenin'
lookin' at the dark day
made up my mind
one of a kind
so, listen to what i say
my back is crippled like a victim
my face can't grow
even hairs
but i look better than you ever will
when i walk, people stop and stare
i know
'cause i'm a sensitive man
i'm a sensitive man (x4)
'cause i'm a sensitive man
i would not ... in paper
shut up when i don't know what to do
i'm just watching when you ain't aware
i ain't crazy, i can see through you
yeah
'cause oh,
you're so obsessed with your image
you could say that i am too
but i'm not workin' so hard every day
to make sure that i'm still real cool
yeah, 'cause i'm a sensitive man
i'm a sensitive man (x3)
yeah, i'm a sensitive man (x4)
oh, no
pickin' my skin in the evenin'
'cause i can't go home,
they made up my mind, yes they're
picking' my skin in the evenin'
i'm pickin' my skin in the evenin'
i'm pickin' up skin in the evenin'
'cause i'm pickin' my skin in the evenin'
oh, i'm pickin' my skin in the evenin'
i love pickin' my skin in the evenin'
pickin' my skin in the evenin' (x2)
no
pickin' my skin (x2)
'cause i'm a sensitive man
Refrain:
[comin' straight from the underground] 4x
Erick sermon:
As I pump up a brand new funk swing,
And bring back the chill of thrill from b.b. king.
Old fashioned is the way that I be waxin' a mc,
I bust a grill, and the reaction I check,
Inspect, make sure the head's wrecked;
[crunch] snap a neck for some live effects.
A machine, my functioning, that's mean.
I stay together, my man, like al green.
I'm a slayer, the e-r-i-c-k and I'm back
To attack a punk chump that ain't sayin' jack.
Boom, I'm buckwild when I'm stoned,
I close only one eye like a cyclone.
So I throw on my black shades that's rhinestone,
Summer to my benz that's outlined in chrome.
I'm the grand royal mc, I'm no joke.
I hit like a phillie blunt when it's toked.
I smoke, an mc well-done, he gets done.
I'm knockin' out wack mcs like michael nunn.
Full-power, one punch, crunch, I'm throwin' bolos.
I'm strapped heavy, my handguns that's solo.
I'm packed when it's time to get down.
Cuz erick sermon's comin' straight from the underground...
Refrain 4x
Pmd:
Okie dokie.my mind gets slow-pokey when I toke the
Bull from a phillie blunt and I hope me
Old gold is cold when I pop the cap.
Take a sip and then blitz, then crack a back with a rhyme sack.
Cuz I'm too smooth, pay my dues, and can't lose.
I'm top gun, pullin' bitches like tom cruise.
And my main man, d-wade, still gets paid.
And in the off-season, we vacate in the shade.
So all hail the mary, crack the moet,
Blast the boom-box, then act like george and jet-son.
Cuz my style, similar to tae kwon do, but hey-yo,
I don't kick or throw stars, this brother flows
To the funk track, with 808 drops for prop the top
Of druggin' or thuggin, d.t.s or cops.
I say, no to blow and yes to cess and I suggest
You put a buck on lotto, and if you win, you should invest
In a new grill, bill, cuz I rock non- until
The fat lady sings, or brooklyn starts to ill.
There's a fat chance, with the brother bistro,
Cuz I'm the master of the quadraverb and the echo.
There's no time to stop, so p keep on steppin'
On the edge of the frame of the mind, the nine is the weapon.
That I choose to squeeze when a brother acts wild.
One slug to the head, mafioso style.
You catch a universal beat down with sounds that pound,
Watch yourself son, I'm comin' straight from the underground.
I'm awake
I know 'cause i'm afraid
Of every little thing
It makes me think of you
You're so sereen
Underneath your wit
You're watching me
Tripping my saddle shoes
Better shoot me down...
To that bold, bold underground
Save me
Save me
Quiet now
It's time to say your prayer
God is near
They say he's watching you
Better shoot me down...
To that bold, bold underground
Save me
Better shoot me down...
To that bold, bold underground
Save me
Save me
I believe
Shhh...
I believe
Shhh...
I believe
Shhh...
I believe
Shhh...
Tried living in the underground
Creep around, don't make a sound
You see the light and the hope grows
Throw you a line but your rope broke
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
Tried a-living like an insane
Incarcerated in your own brain
Tried living in the underground
(Ft Hugh Cornwell)
Come on and milk it while you're hot
Sell out hang out with a new set of friends
Take the arty farty out your eyes
Smoke this chill out enjoy the ride
You know it's true
You know we do need you to
Sell a million or two
'cos your last record sales weren't high.
Oh so cheesy but we don't mind
Let's get greedy taking it all from behind
So cheesy but we don't care
'cos we're running outta underground
So switch the light out on the cat walk 'cos
The pussy died long ago
Have a drink on me and even more
Hands up snap shot with your pants down
You know it's true
You know we do need you to
Sell a million or two
'cos your last record sales weren't high.
Oh so cheesy but we don't mind
Let's get greedy taking it all from behind
So cheesy but we don't care
'cos we're running outta underground
Oh so cheesy but we don't mind
Let's get greedy taking it all from behind
So cheesy but we don't care
'cos we're running outta underground
'cos we're running outta under running outta underground
Running outta under running outta underground
Oh so cheesy but we don't mind
Let's get greedy taking it all from behind
So cheesy but we don't care
[Esau]
All these kids today screaming underground, do they know what it means
To make 7 albums, work everyday and go hungry just to chase your dreams
To be #1 in Gavin, CMJ, Impact and BRE
Then have to beg a promoter to open up for Run-D.M.C.
Nah, I don't think so, my sh*t's fat too, so is his
But is there room for all of us in the shady rap biz
Put your 12's out yourself, push it, beg the pd
to play it and chart it, then maybe some kids will hear of you in NYC
Or LA, or college in Tennessee or maybe it'll reach overseas
To Italy and maybe even to the heads in the military
If you're lucky, you're website will get 10 hits a day
and Pizzo will sell your stuff online the hiphopsite.com way
Even them cats at footwork will rock it or play da record in t dot
Mr Bongo in London or all the HMV's in Oz
But until then keep posting up at Davy D and rhyming over others beats
Until you get the knowledge kid, you won't know what underground means
HOOK
You ain't underground cause you're white, or just cause you're black
You ain't underground cause you recorded your album on a 4 track
You ain't underground cause your beats are wack, or even if they're fat
You ain't underground simply cause your sh*t is abstract
You ain't underground cause you don't cypher,
you ain't underground cause you do
You ain't underground cause you can freestyle and roll with a tight crew
You ain't underground with no airplay
You ain't underground with MTV play
You ain't underground cause 4 kids bump your sh*t out in
Tampa Bay
You ain't underground cause you don't buy mixtapes
You ain't underground cause you do
You ain't underground cause you own every tape by Touch and Clue
You ain't underground cause you're on the net
You ain't underground when you dub cassettes
You ain't underground cause you buy vinyl to rock on your 1200 set
You ain't underground cause you post lyrics
You ain't underground cause you dis them
You ain't underground cause you hate EPMD or even if you missed them
You ain't underground cause you're unknown
You ain't underground if you're unsigned
You ain't underground cause you analyze lyrics in Company Flow rhymes
You ain't underground cause you like Sugarhill
You ain't underground cause you keep it real
You ain't underground cause you do or do not deal
You ain't underground cause you use big words
You ain't underground if you don't curse
You ain't underground cause you get creative with your adverbs
You ain't underground cause you use metaphors, or if you bore
You ain't underground cause you don't have product in any major stores
You ain't underground, yeah I said it
You ain't underground, don't forget it
You ain't underground because your wack ass CD ain't selling
Familiar music, familiar sound
Does mute your thoughts for the underground
Lonely sight for any turning light
Future prophesy for the [Incomprehensible]
There'll be equal stay and equal play
The underground where none can betray
The underground
The underground
The underground
There'll be no light, so there can be no sight
And you'll judge your fellow men on the stand
By what is right
They'll all turn black so who's to know
As a matter of fact: color, creed and breed must go
The underground
The underground
Familiar music, familiar sound
Does mute your thoughts for the underground
Lonely sight for any turning light
Future prophecy for the [Incomprehensible]
The underground
The underground
