In the past, Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has given money to Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid. And, to put it mildly, the GOP base might not be terribly enthusiastic about nominating a candidate who gave money to top Democrats. On CNN’s State of the Union today, Jake Tapper brought up these donations, along with Trump’s recent comments that of the last four presidents, Bill CLinton was the best one. Trump said, “I give money to everybody.” He bemoaned Washington gridlock and said he gives money to everybody because he’s a businessman and that’s how it works.
