The Palestinian people, (Arabic: الشعب الفلسطيني, ash-sha‘b al-Filasṭīnī) also referred to as Palestinians (Arabic: الفلسطينيون, al-Filasṭīniyyūn), are descendants of the peoples who have lived in Palestine over the centuries. Today, Palestinians are largely culturally and linguistically Arab. Despite various wars and exoduses, roughly one half of the world's Palestinian population continues to reside in the area encompassing the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and Israel. In this combined area, as of 2004, Palestinians constituted 49% of all inhabitants, encompassing the entire population of the Gaza Strip (1.6 million), the majority of the population of the West Bank (approximately 2.3 million versus close to 500,000 Jewish Israeli citizens which includes about 200,000 in East Jerusalem), and 16.5% of the population of Israel proper as Arab citizens of Israel.
Throughout the aforementioned combined area, many are Palestinian refugees or internally displaced Palestinians, including more than a million in the Gaza Strip, three-quarters of a million in the West Bank,, and about a quarter of a million in Israel proper. Of the Palestinian population who live abroad, making up what is known as the Palestinian diaspora, more than half of these are statelessrefugees lacking citizenship in any country. About 2.6 million of the diaspora population live in neighboring Jordan where they make up approximately half the population, 1.5 million live between Syria and Lebanon, a quarter of a million in Saudi Arabia, with Chile's half a million representing the largest concentration outside the Arab world.

The opera begins with a chorus of two prologues. In this first prologue, a chorus reflects on the destruction wrought by the creation of Israel
My father's house was razed in 1948
When the Israelis passed over our street
The house was built of stone with a courtyard inside
Where, on a hot day, one could sit in shade

Coolness rose like a wave from our pure well
No-one was turned away. The doorstep had worn down
I see in my mind's eye a crescent moon
Of that house, not a wall in which a bird might nest

An Israeli police officer found unlikely protection in the form of two Palestinian men, who, despite their differences, sheltered her from rocks, according to a picture taken in the midst of a stone-throwing battle between Jewish extremists and Palestinians.
The picture appeared on social media on Sunday and was taken by photographer Shaul Golan for Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper. The West Bank outpost, Esh Kodesh, became the scene of clashes between dozens of settlers and Palestinian farmers, working on their land Saturday.
Igal Sarna, who published the photo on Facebook, wrote that it shows what he has seen “for many years in the occupied territories – the transformation of consciousness.”
One of the men sheltering the Israeli officer was Zakaria Sadah, a Palestinian field worker for Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR), an Israeli human rights organization.
“While it is natural that the security forces may identify more with their own people, procedures regarding law enforcement in situations involving violent Israelis must be clearly laid out and consistently implemented,” RHR said in a statement, regarding the Saturday incident.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that the two groups were throwing stones at each other, and when the soldiers arrived to stop the confrontation, they got their share of stones as well. There were no reports on the injuries.
Israel has recently seen a wave of violence, fueled not only by the clashes between IDF security forces and Palestinians, but also by Jewish extremists, either orthodox or far-right, both acting against Arabs and Jews.
According to Israeli President Reuven Rivlin: “Flames have engulfed our country.” He stated that“flames of violence, flames of hatred, flames of false, distorted and twisted beliefs. Flames which permit bloodshed in the name of the Torah, in the name of the law, in the name of morality, in the name of a love for the land of Israel,” according to Haaretz.

The president’s speech at a rally on Sunday triggered a backlash and unexpected public outrage,“both off and online”, RT’s Paula Slier reported. “There also have been threats against his life, he is also being accused of being a terrorist and a traitor,” Slier said.
Following the threats, the Israeli Security Agency Shin Bet instructed the President's Office to file a police complaint, according to Haaretz.

Under a tree and have a glass of something cool
Coolness rose like a wave from our pure well
No-one was turned away. The doorstep had worn down
I see in my mind's eye a crescent moon
Of that house, not a wall in which a bird might nest
Was left to stand: Israel laid all to waste
Though we have paid to drink our water,
And our wood is sold to us,
We thank the only God
Let the supplanter look upon his work
Our faith will take the stones he broke and break his teeth.

Palestinian TV glorifies terrorist Dalal Mughrabi's terror attack with interview of sister
http://www.palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc;_id=1764
Palestinian Authority TV honors the anniversary of Dalal Mughrabi's terror attack by interviewing her sister. Dalal's attacks remains to this day the most lethal terror attack in Israel's history, killing 37 civilians. The host refers to her deadly attack as a 'glorious chapter in the history of the Palestinian people' and affirms that Dalal is now a 'symbol and model of resistance, sacrifice, and Martyrdom-seeking....of giving and of redemption of the homeland' '
Dalal's sister refers to the anniversary of the terrorist attack as a 'day of glory and pride' for the Palestinian people. She further states that Dalal left a message to 'point the rifles-all the rifles- at the Zionist enemy'.
The following is from the PA TV interview with Rashida Mughrabi:
Host: "Now, dear viewers, we move on to a glorious chapter in the history of the Palestinian people. On this day in 1978, the Shahida (Martyr) Dalal Mughrabi prepared to meet her God by carrying out a self-sacrifice operation of Martyrdom-seeking [near Tel Aviv] in the heart of the occupation state. The operation shocked the occupation entity at the time and has left its mark until today and for years to come. Dalal Mughrabi, the Palestinian Shahida (Martyr), has become a symbol and model of resistance, sacrifice, and Martyrdom-seeking; a model of giving and of redemption of the homeland."
Rashida Mughrabi, sister of terrorist Dalal Mughrabi: "This is a day of glory and pride for our Palestinian people and a blow to the Zionists, who view it as a day of blood for them. It is a day of pride for us, just as the day which they see as [Israeli] Independence Day, is our day of catastrophe...
Before she set out for the operation and fell as a Shahida, Dalal left a message for our father, a will to all of our brother fighters, to point the rifles - all the rifles - at the Zionist enemy... And if people have not taken note of her will, let them now take note that we must unite, and our rifles must unite, against the enemy who steals our land, and not against one another...
Of course, the Fatah movement - or most of the Fatah members, who believe in [its] line, have kept her will; they have not turned their weapons against Palestinians, and the rifles have remained [pointed] at the Zionist enemy... Whoever is not aware of this issue should take note: we are in danger; our issue is in danger, and the rifles - all the rifles - must be pointed at the Zionist enemy, as Dalal willed it thirty years ago...
Responding to the pressure to cancel the inauguration of the public square named after her sister:
"I believe that it is our right, that many of our people view [the anniversary of the attack] as a day of pride for the Palestinian people and for the Palestinian woman, who has carried out battles throughout history. Dalal is a source of pride for the Palestinian woman. It is our right to honor her. There is an Israeli demand not to celebrate in honor of Dalal. There are high school students and members of the Shabiba [Fatah] youth movement who are adamant about their right to honor Dalal today. They want to assemble at 1:00 in the afternoon around the square, which will be named after Dalal this afternoon, and, Allah willing, we will see you there, so that we can all show our pride in our fighters, in the Palestinian woman - in Dalal Mughrabi."

And that decision he has to make not just for us, but for his own people, because I think this is the moment where the leadership of the Palestinian people must decide: are they going to go to the road that we started together, which is face-to-face negotiation and a peaceful resolution of the conflict, or do they want to continue with the violence and the terrorism and excitement? The cordon around the headquarters of Palestinian Authority leader Yasser Arafat tightened on Friday afternoon as Israeli troops were reinforced by heavily armed tanks.
The tanks rumbled up to within 30 metres (yards) of Arafat's headquarters building in the West Bank town of Ramallah, and were seen as Israel's sternest warning yet that Arafat's failure to rein in militant extremists could soon mean the end of his rule.
Arafat has been under virtual house arrest within his Ramallah compound for more than a month.
Israeli officials denied that there was any offical order to contain Arafat, but they said he will only be allowed to travel freely again once he arrests the assassins of an Israeli Cabinet minister and those who ordered the killing.
Speaking from his beseiged office on Thursday, Arafat said his fate was not the important issue since all the Palestinian people were under seige.
As darkness fell on Friday evening, about 400 Palestinians angry with Arafat marched in protest to the gates of his headquarters and demanded that he release suspected Palestinian militants, including senior PLO official Ahmed Saadat, who were arrested by the Palestinian Authority for killing Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Zeevi in October.
When Palestinian Authority police arrived to try and calm the situation protesters vented their anger, shouting: "What's wrong with you, PA (Palestinian Authority)? We brought you to protect us, and now you are arresting us. PA where is your national pride?"
As the demonstration gained momentum a large group tried to storm the building but were forced back by Palestinian police.

Five American tourists were almost lynched by a Palestinian mob in the ancient city of Hebron in Israel today.
The five yeshiva students were with driving a car on their way to the cave that houses the tombs of the Patriarchs (Ma’arat HaMachpela), when they took a wrong turn and entered the Arab neighborhood of Jabal Johar.
A mob attacked their car with firebombs and rocks, and when the Americans tried to get out of the car the Arabs torched their vehicle.
The five Americans were rescued by a local Arab resident who sheltered them in his home. Two of the students were lightly to moderately wounded in the attack.

During the evening of September 3, five American Jewish students were attacked by Palestinians in the West Bank city of Hebron with stones and Molotov cocktails. The students reportedly took a wrong turn on their way to visit the Cave of the Patriarchs, located in Hebron. After escaping from their vehicle, the five were sheltered by a local Palestinian, who called the police. Israeli security forces arrived and successfully extracted the students, although clashes between them and local residents occurred during the process. Two of the students were lightly injured. Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat says Netanyahu has actively worked against a sustainable two-state solution. He says Netanyahu is “king of the settlers” referring to Israel's continued illegal settlement activities in Palestinian land. His comments were made two days after Netanyahu said he was ready to go to Ramallah to talk with Palestinians. Palestinian Prime minister Rami Hamdallah has also reacted to the call and said Israel's settlement policies are killing the two-state solution. Hamdallah says Israel is undermining peace prospects and the dream of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders. He called on Britain to h

A draft resolution on raising the Palestinian flag at the United Nations is set to be adopted next week.
The measure is expected to garner a majority of votes in the 193-nation forum. Palestinian envoy to the UN Riyad Mansour says they have the votes and they are working to gather more. He says the act would give Palestinians the hope that the international community supports them to have their own state. Once the resolution is adopted, the UN will have 20 days to act accordingly. That's when Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas will be visiting New York.

Palestinians attempt to lynch five American tourists In Hebron
Thanks ClementineRoad
The attack came after an IDF outpost in the area was handed over to Palestinian security forces some days ago.
The tombs of the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, Yacov, Sarah, Rebecca and Leah are in the Jewish part of the city but Muslims are allowed to pray there daily. Jews, however, are forbidden to enter the Muslim part of Ma’arat HaMachpela where the tombs are located, except on the Pesach holiday and Succot (the feast of the Tabernacles).
The attack on these American tourists is not an isolated incident. Since the arson attack on an Arab family in the Palestinian village of Duma more than a month ago, there has been a significant increase in Palestinian violence in Judea and Samaria (West Bank), Jerusalem and along road 443 from Jerusalem to Modi’in.
For example, last week an Israeli Police officer was stabbed and injured by a Palestinian Arab and officers of the Border Police barely survived an attack in East Jerusalem. Their car went up in flames after it was attacked with several firebombs, Israeli Radio station Reshet Beth reported.
Yesterday, Israeli Police and firefighters were attacked by Arabs in the Isawiya neighborhood in East Jerusalem when they tried to rescue a Palestinian family from the roof of their apartment. The family escaped to the roof of their house to avoid smoke inhalation after the apartment went up in flames.
After they rescued the family from the roof police and firefighters were pelted with stones, Israeli Army Radio reported.
The attack on the rescuers took place a couple of hours after two Jewish graves on the Mount of Olives were badly damaged in an arson attack. The Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives has been the scene of Arab vandalism and harassment of Jews for a long time. Graves are routinely vandalized or defiled and burials can only be hold with security escorts provided by the Israeli government.
As a result of the increase in Palestinian violence the Israeli government decided to boost police presence in Jerusalem and is contemplating easing the rules of engagement for IDF soldiers in confrontations with Arab stone throwers.
Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu held a special meeting with members of the Israeli security cabinet yesterday to address the situation. “The policy is zero tolerance for stone-throwing and zero tolerance for terrorism,” Netanyahu said at the start of the meeting.
“Since the legal system is finding it difficult to deal with stone-throwing by minors, changing open-fire orders regarding the throwing of stones and firebombs will be examined, as will be the imposition – by law – of minimum sentences for those who throw stones and firebombs,” a statement of the Prime Minister’s Office said after the meeting.
The Israeli government has come under increasing pressure from the IDF and Jewish citizens living in Judea and Samaria to treat stone throwing and fire bombs attacks as attempt to murder. Most of these attacks are carried out by minors, often as young as eleven or twelve years old.
Arab youths are often encouraged to engage in these attacks by Palestinian terror movements, but also by the Palestinian society that sees this form of ‘resistance’ as an elementary part of the education and the upbringing of children.

The presence of a Jewish Israeli settlement in the Palestinian city of Hebron has been the source of tensions for years. In addition, although there have been prior lynch-like incidents in the West Bank, they are relatively rare. This is largely due to the army regulation that prohibits Israeli citizens from entering certain areas of the West Bank, primarily those under complete or partial Palestinian control.

Palestinian authorities say Israeli PM call for talks just “PR stunt”
He called on Britain to have a stronger role at the UN Security Council in pushing for a resolution to end the Israeli occupation.

Israeli soldiers clash with Palestinians near West Bank (Nabi Saleh)
Questions raised over shocking West Bank image of boy with a broken arm being held at gunpoint by an Israeli soldier after girl, 13, seen biting attacker is revealed as prolific 'Pallywood star'
• Israeli soldier was pictured pinning boy to the floor with machine gun held up near his cheek in the West Bank
• But the gunman is ambushed by young girl who forces weapon from his hand and two women who claw at his face
• Girl in pictures is believed to be Ahed Tamimi, whose parents Bassem and Nariman are Palestinian activists
• She has appeared in a string of similar videos where she confronts Israeli soldiers and once won a bravery award
• The clash happened in the village of Nabi Saleh, near Ramallah, during protests against Palestinian land confiscation to expand the nearby Jewish Hallamish settlement.
Questions have been raised over the authenticity of shocking images of a boy with a broken arm being held at gunpoint by an Israeli soldier after a 13-year-old girl seen biting his attacker is said to be a prolific 'Pallywood star'.
The remarkable images appeared to show an IDF soldier armed with a machine gun grappling with the little boy as two women make desperate attempts to pull him off following protests in the West Bank.
A young girl is seen ambushing the balaclava-clad soldier by forcing the weapon from his hands and biting him before he flees the scene. But it is thought the young girl in the photographs is Ahed Tamimi, whose parents Bassem and Nariman - also pictured - are well-known Palestinian activists in their village of Nabi Saleh.
The teenager has appeared in a string of similar videos where she challenges Israeli security forces and rose to prominence after she was filmed confronting one who arrested her brother, which resulted in her being presented with a bravery award.
She was handed the 'Handala Award for Courage' by the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in Istanbul, where she reportedly expressed she would like to live.
Online blogs have dubbed her 'Shirley Temper' and accused her of being a 'Pallywood' star - a term coined by author Richard Landes, describing the alleged media manipulation by Palestinians to win public relations war against Israel. Her father, Bassem al-Tamimi, was convicted by an Israeli military court in 2011 for 'sending people to throw stones, and holding a march without a permit' - a charge his lawyers deny.
He has been jailed eight times, while his wife has been detained five times. Other family members, including their son Waed, has also been arrested.
Bassem al-Tamimi organises weekly protests and it was reportedly at one of these demonstrations that the shocking images are said to have been taken.
An Israeli army spokesman said that Palestinians had been throwing stones at an IDF force which was set up in the area.
An image has emerged on the internet of a boy, said to be the youth that was held at gunpoint, throwing rocks with one arm, while his other remained in plaster and in a sling.
The spokesman added that a decision was made to arrest the boy and it was during the detention that a 'violent provocation' began, including a number of Palestinian women and children.
He told Haaretz that there was 'a violent disturbance of the peace in Nabi Saleh, in which Palestinians threw stones at IDF forces that were in the place.
'The youth who was photographed was identified by the lookout force as a stone-thrower, and because of this it was decided to detain him. At the time of the arrest, a violent provocation by a number of Palestinians developed, including women and children. In light of the violent altercation, the commander decided to not to go ahead with the detention.'
He added: 'Two additional Palestinian youths were arrested for throwing stones during the violent clashes. The soldier pictured was lightly wounded as a result of the violent actions against him.'
In another flashpoint, Palestinian protester hurled stones at Israeli army bulldozer during clashes which following a protest against Israeli settlements in Qadomem, Kofr Qadom village, near the the West Bank city of Nablus.

Watch these rare photos of "Palestinian" terrorists from inside the Israeli prison.
Contrary to claims by "Palestinians" and their supporters that Israelis perpetrate genocide of the "Palestinian" people and torture them, "Palestinian" terrorists inside prison don't seem to be bothered by them. Look at these healthy, happy, singing and dancing "Palestinian" prisoners. Inside Israeli prison they get academic education for free, they get family visits, shopping and more... So don't let them trick you.
IMPORTANT:
The video you have just watched was filmed by the "Palestinian" terrorist prisoners. It's meant to encourage Palestinians to commit terror attacks and to not fear imprisonment in Israeli jails.

UN set to vote on raising Palestinian flag next week
A draft resolution on raising the Palestinian flag at the United Nations is set to be adopted next week.
The measure is expected to garner a majority of votes in the 193-nation forum. Palestinian envoy to the UN Riyad Mansour says they have the votes and they are working to gather more. He says the act would give Palestinians the hope that the international community supports them to have their own state. Once the resolution is adopted, the UN will have 20 days to act accordingly. That's when Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas will be visiting New York.

Israel may authorize shooting Palestinian stone throwers
Tel Aviv says the Israeli military must have a freer hand to shoot young Palestinian stone-throwers. Palestinian officials have condemned the remark as a prelude to more escalation and crimes against the Palestinians.

Pallywood, people's lies, and differences between Hamas/Palestinians and Israel
I show what Pallywood does make fake films and pictures to blame Israel, I show the lies that people say on social media, and the differences between what Hamas/Palestinians does and what Israel does. I do not own these pictures. Songs: Evil Plan by: Kevin Macleod, Evil March by: Kevin Macleod, and Hatikvah by Laura Bruno Lilly

Arafat’s speech after the opening of the Jerusalem tunnels incites Palestinians to violence
http://www.palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=711&fld;_id=721&doc;_id=1474
Following the opening of the Jerusalem tunnels, former PA Chairman Yasser Arafat gives a speech on official Palestinian Authority TV inciting Palestinians to violence and glorifying Martyrdom for Allah. Arafat encourages Palestinians to die as Martyrs while killing Israelis, citing a verse from the Quran that reads “they shall fight in the way of Allah, and shall kill and be killed.” He further motivates Martyrdom-death by saying that “Paradise will be theirs.” The day after Arafat delivered this speech, dozens of people were killed in Palestinian Authority-initiated violence.
Transcript:
Yasser Arafat: "[Quran:] Allah bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because Paradise will be theirs: They shall fight in the way of Allah, and shall kill and be killed."
My righteous brothers, our righteous Martyrs, rest in peace, because our blood is cheap compared to the goal which joined us together and has separated us for a while. But we shall meet soon [as Martyrs], Allah willing, in the highest place in Heaven."

Israeli forces have injured at least five Palestinians during a raid in the city of Jenin, north of the occupied West Bank.
The casualties took place during an attack on the Jenin refugee camp as well as clashes between Palestinian fighters and Israeli forces inside the city. Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers blew up the house of a Palestinian leader after arresting him and three members of his family. Israeli sources say one officer has been critically wounded in the violence.

Images of an armed Israeli soldier trying to arrest an 11-year-old Palestinian boy with a broken arm in the West Bank went viral on social media over the weekend.
The images show the soldier putting a headlock on the child while women pull on the soldier's back, trying to free the boy.
The altercation took place during a weekly protest Friday organized by Palestinian activists against settlement construction in the village of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank.
Watch: Video of soldier attempting to arrest boy
The footage was shot by the boy's father, Bassem Tamimi, he told CNN.
The family routinely films its demonstrations, he said, and posts them on a site called Nabi Saleh Solidarity.
The video -- a clip edited from longer footage -- had nearly 3 million views by Sunday.
"This is very difficult for any father or mother to see their son or daughter in that way, being violently attacked," said Tamimi.
In the video, Bassem Tamimi's daughter, A'hed, is seen biting the soldier's right hand in an apparent attempt to free her brother.
A'hed has appeared in previous videos the family has shot and posted online. Two years ago a video was posted that showed her shaking her fist at an Israeli soldier. The soldier reacted by walking away.
Tamimi said he documents all of the protests to keep a record of the conflict there and collect what he says is evidence of Israeli abuses.

It is a move that highlights the treatment of Palestinian prisoners and how those defending them face difficult odds.

Phantom Nation: Inventing the "Palestinians" as the Obstacle to Peace
On March 9, 2014, Sha'i ben-Tekoa, DeProgram Program, gave a terrific and important presentation to Children of Holocaust Survivors on his book on the invention of a Palestinian people. There is hardly a person born after 1980 (or earlier) who has any reason to believe that a Palestinian people did not exist in a country called Palestine. That is our fault for enforcing this narrative propaganda that has been the focus of the international community and the cause of the problems and danger faced by Israel. The narrative must be changed and Sha'i ben-Tekoa gives us the tools to do this. All we have to do is - DO IT!
Hired for a special project by the Office of Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, Sha'i ben-Tekoa discovered the first United Nations document using the term "Palestinians" as it is used today.
And the date was eye-opening: three years after 1967's Six-Day War. In his research into the entire UN archive dealing with the Arab war against Israel, he came across no reference to the putatively Paleolithic Palestinian people before 1970.
After completing his assignment for the Government of Israel, Mr. Ben-Tekoa dug deeper into the origins of this heretofore unheard of nationality. The Land of Israel is arguably the most written about real estate in the world over thousands of years in the scores of languages of Crusaders, conquerors, pilgrims and tourists, not one of whom ever wrote or said a word about meeting any "Palestinians" in their time in the Holy Land.
And now Ben-Tekoa has written a book about what he discovered and uncovered: the invention of a phantom nation, the "Palestinian Narrative," one of the great feats of psychological warfare in the history of Mankind. He shows how it is this generation's successor ideology to Medieval Christianity, Islam, Nazism and Communism as the current fashion in Jew-hatred a.k.a. an anti-Semitism as old as the hills. To purchase the book now, click on this link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0991094913/?tag=chilofjewih00-20
Sha'i ben-Tekoa was born, raised and educated in the United States. He received a B.A. in Comparative Religion from Columbia University and did graduate work in same at the University of Chicago Divinity School. A traveler in Arab lands, he served in the Yom Kippur War effort of 1973. His articles on the Arab-Israeli conflict, terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, National Review, Midstream, Congress Monthly and other publications. He appeared on American Public Broadcasting's The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour. In preparation for 1991's historic Arab-Israeli peace conference in Madrid, he worked on assignment for the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel Yitzhak Shamir. A new political movement of young, second generation Israeli settlers are striving for new relations with their Palestinian neighbours. They are not only in favour of a Palestinian State; they even want to live in it.
Some settlers do not see themselves as an obstacle for peace. On the contrary - they see their presence as a way to build new relationships with Palestinians. They argue that the Settler issue has the easiest of solutions. Why couldn't they continue to live within a Palestinian state? Nachum Pachenik is a settler from the illegal settlement of Sde Boaz and a co-founder of the Land of Peace movement. "For me it's not about keeping the land... it's about achieving real peace." Ziad Sabatin, a Palestinian member of 'Land of Peace' specifically wants to get in touch with settlers because they are the very enemy with whom peace has to be made. "I have come to the conclusion that terror leads only to more terror. If you get to know each other, the fear disappears". Despite the willingness of both sides, making peace in occupied territories is still a potentially dangerous business. "There are people who have very different visions about the future", says Jewish settler Assaf Harel.

Inspired Non-Violent Palestinian, Ali Abu Awwad, in dialogue with his new friend, Israeli Rabbi, Hanan Schlesinger; A Conversation about Palestinian Non-Violent Resistance and the Changing of MInds moderated by Rabbi Ellen Lippman.
Ali Abu Awwad is a leading Palestinian advocate of nonviolence among Palestinians, who reaches out to Jewish Israelis at the heart of the conflict. Ali has toured the world many times over, telling his riveting story of personal transformation from violent activism and imprisonment, through bereavement and the discovery of the path of nonviolence.
Hanan Schlesinger is an Orthodox rabbi and teacher, and a passionate Zionist settler who has been profoundly transformed by his friendship with Ali. His understanding of the reality of the Middle East conflict and of Zionism has been utterly complicated by the parallel universe to which Ali has introduced him.
Rabbi Ellen Lippman is Rabbi of Temple Kolot Chayeinu/Voices of Our Lives where the event was held, in Brooklyn, New York. on September 7, 2014.
Sponsors: Kolot Chayeinu/Voices of Our Lives and Rock Blossom Sangha (Brooklyn Community of Mindfulness)
Co-sponsors: Brooklyn For Peace; Congregation Beth Elohim; Dialogue Project; Muslim Consultative Network; Park Slope Jewish Center; T’ruah (Rabbinic Call for Human Rights); Union Temple; Ways of Peace
Ali, Hanan, and other Israelis and Palestinians have been involved for the past six months in creating Roots/Judur/Shorashim, a center for nonviolence, understanding and reconciliation. http://www.FriendsOfRoots.net Roots is being established on a piece of land owned by the Awwad family, in the heart of Gush Etzion and abutting the Palestinian town of Beit Umar. This location is one of the rare places that both Palestinians and Israelis can access without special government permits, thus facilitating grassroots, unmediated get-togethers and deep conversations between people from the two sides.
The Palestinians and Israelis involved in this initiative do not hide the many deep disagreements between them. They are deeply aware of the complexities of the conflict and of the lack of equality between the two sides. What unites them is their honest search for human understanding and nonviolent resolution of the conflict.
To build support for these initiatives, Ali will be touring the United States from August 25th until October 11th. Rabbi Schlesinger will be joining him from about September 9th to September 22nd.
Ali and Hanan tell their personal stories and of their efforts to build a better future for their peoples. They come with no ready peace plans in hand, but only with the conviction that human understanding and trust will be the prerequisites for lasting justice, freedom and peace on that tiny sliver of land that they both call home.
Roots is an outgrowth of the Palestinian Institute of Nonviolence, an intra-Palestinian initiative being nurtured by Ali on the same piece of land, a center for the teaching of the philosophy and methodology of nonviolence to the next generation of Palestinian leaders. Ali’s vision is to create a Palestinian movement that would place nonviolence at the very core of the identity of its activists.

Israel is keeping up a steady stream of attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip, killing 11 more Palestinians in its latest airstrikes.
The air raids targeted four different locations in the coastal enclave. Officials say two of the victims were killed when a strike hit a facility for the disabled in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza. Israel has pounded more than one thousand targets in the impoverished region since Tuesday. 119 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have lost their lives. And about 800 others have been injured. Tel Aviv has now massed thousands of troops along the Gaza border in preparation for a possible ground incursion.

We interviewed Palestinian vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Tamer Abu Ghazaleh before his show in Manchester in April 2015. His music refuses to be categorised as modern or traditional but combines elements that describe what it means to be Palestinian. While Tamer maintains a connection to the aural traditions of national heritage music, he is committed to 'breaking the rules' and forging a new path.

Thanks ClementineRoad

He called on Britain to have a stronger role at the UN Security Council in pushing for a resolution to end the Israeli occupation.

The Israeli parliament has passed a new law legalising the force-feeding of prisoners on hunger strikes.
For Palestinians in Israeli jails, hunger strikes are a strong mode of protesting detention and occupation.
The United Nations, the Palestinian Prisoners Commission and the Israeli Medical Association have all condemned the new law. The country's medical association are urging doctors to not partake in force-feeding, saying it is effectively torture and violates medical ethics.
But Israel has said that Palestinian hunger strikes could lead to deaths and set off protests across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
It is a move that highlights the treatment of Palestinian prisoners and how those defending them face difficult odds.
One of these defenders is lawyer Lea Tsemel, who has had a career spanning more than four decades and is a rarity in Israel - almost all her clients have been exclusively Palestinian.

This hour-long special weaves together both the Israeli and the Palestinian narratives. In Israel, we go from the venerable ramparts of Jerusalem to the vibrant modern skyline of Tel Aviv. In Palestine, we harvest olives near Hebron, visit a home in Bethlehem, and pop into a university in Ramallah. We also learn about security walls, disputed settlements, and the persistent challenges facing the region.

Formerly the lead English language commentator for IsraelNationalNews.com, his Internet radio commentary and music program can be heard at www.deprogramprogram.com.

"Shunned" is a documentary by Igal Hecht about Palestinian gays and lesbians seeking refuge in Israel.
This film provides a thought-provoking counterpoint to the propaganda that Israel is hostile to its Muslim/Arab population.

Settlers For Peace: The Israeli settlers and Palestinian locals who think they can find the peace that's eluded the world's politicians.
