Digital Lead

Applications are invited for this exciting new post to help the Council deliver a Digital Strategy for Gateshead.

You will have strategic responsibility for leading and developing digital services and solutions. You will be responsible for driving a challenging programme of change to ensure that as many services as possible are available through digital technology. You will build a programme of work across the Council and with partners in the Borough and so will need to demonstrate excellent negotiating and influencing skills to drive and achieve commitment to a fast programme of change.

It is not necessary for you to have a background in Information Technology but you will be expected to have a good knowledge of how digital solutions are becoming a key part of public service delivery. A relevant qualification and senior management experience in a customer focussed environment is essential but applications from candidates with public, private or ‘not for profit’ experience are welcome.

You will be adept in managing complex programmes with clear outcomes within budget. You will also be a strategic thinker, be able to successfully lead partnership and inter-agency working and have a proven track record in implementing change.

This is a two year fixed term post.
