Plot: Richard McMurray's first novel was a success, but his second novel is sitting unfinished on his computer in his house, which his wife just locked him out of. After a speaking engagement at a local college, Richard accepts the invitation from two sexy college students to crash on their couch. He should only be there for a day or two but legal battles with his soon-to-be ex-wife, pressures from his editor and publisher, and more importantly, his new-found inspiration just might keep him there longer. He's using them as his muses, they're using him for writing guidance, but what are they all supposed to do about that sexual tension?

First Monday in October was adapted by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee from their own Broadway play, which starred Henry Fonda. Actress Martha Scott co-produced the film, while several other Hollywood veterans, including Herb Vigran and Ann Doran, dot the supporting case.

CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Mason's (Ellar Coltrane) stepdad Bill (Marco Perella) spirals into a fit of rage at the dinner table.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Richard Linklater's Boyhood is a coming-of-age drama that the director spent twelve years making. He cast a young boy, Ellar Coltrane, and shot the film a few days at a time for over a decade so that he could capture how his leading actor, and the rest of his cast, aged. The film's story simply follows a boy named Mason (Coltrane) as he progresses from age 6 to 18 and deals with the typical travails of childhood like his parents' divorce, bad stepparents, falling in love, finding his artistic voice, and fighting with his bratty older sister. Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette co-star as Mason's parents.

CLIP DESCRIPTION:
A Nebraska attorney (Noble Willingham) addresses the Supreme Court concerning a film he deems pornographic.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The election of Sandra Day O'Connor to the Supreme Court rendered the premise of First Monday in October anachronistic before the picture was even released; ignoring this, however, the film is supremely entertaining (no pun intended). Jill Clayburgh stars as Ruth Loomis, the first lady justice ever appointed to the Court. She's a conservative, while her principal foe on the bench, Dan Snow (Walter Matthau), is an old-line liberal. The film glides along on a predictable Tracy-Hepburn course until Snow comes to Loomis' defense when her late industrialist husband is accused of improprieties which might compromise Loomis' effectiveness.
