Under the Patronage of Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, BUiD’s Chancellor, The British University in Dubai held its 10th Graduation Ceremony at the Cultural and Scientific Association in Al Mamzar on June 10. Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of the office of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, awarded the degrees to the graduates on behalf of Sheikh Hamdan. Eight out of the 101 postgraduates this year were from the doctoral programmes in Education and Project Management. The ceremony also witnessed the graduation of the first graduates from the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and MSc. Construction Management programmes. The event was attended by the University’s Council members, family and relatives of the graduates, and faculty and staff members of BUiD. Envoys Mr Ed Hobart, British Consul General and Mr Muraleedharan K, Deputy Consul General of India also graced the event. Speaking about her study experience at BUiD, Ms Kaltham Kenaid, PhD in Education graduate, said: “Studying for my PhD at BUiD has been a life changing experience. It has made me appreciate all the beautiful details in my life. I hope that my thesis will contribute to academic knowledge to improve education in UAE.” Professor Abdullah Alshamsi, BUiD’s Vice Chancellor said: “We are so proud today to see the graduation of our first PhD graduates. Today marks another milestone in BUiD’s successful accomplishments. I congratulate all the graduates and their families on their achievements and a job well done.” 16 students were presented with BUiD’s Distinction Awards while Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) Top Graduate 2015 Trophies were given to Ms Eman Alkaleh ,PhD in Education, Mr. Mostafa Al Emran, Master of Science in Informatics (Knowledge and Data Management) and Ms Noora Al Rafi ,MBA. Martin Prince, BUiD’s Registrar, said: “The government and people of Dubai have enabled us to create a challenging and stimulating postgraduate community institution in BUiD. I believe that the university is reciprocating the support by producing high caliber Master and Doctorate holders who will change the Emirates and the world for the better, Insha Allah.” BUiD continues to support the UAE’s knowledge-based economy by offering postgraduate programmes in a range of important disciplines, old and new. It also serves market needs by educating high-calibre graduates who have the necessary knowledge and skills to work at senior levels in the whole range of different organisations – public, private, SMEs and Multinational Corporations.
