A Balochistan Fighter’s last words before he is hit by Pakistan Army bullets

On June 30, 2015, the Pakistan Army attacked the village of Mehi in Occupied Balochistan near the town of Mashkay, which is the hometown of Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) supreme commander Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch. The Army’s assault began with aerial shelling by U.S. supplied helicopter gunships on the village and the nearby mountains. Later ground troops moved in breaking into civilian houses. In the carnage that followed 11 people were massacred including Dr. Allah Nazar’s two nephews Suleman aka Shehak and Zakir Baloch. Suleman ‘Shehak’ Jan was a commander of BLF. The family had gathered there for the funeral of Suleman’s father who passed away a day earlier on June 29. Of the 11 men who died in the attack only four were members of BLF and rest were non-combatant civilians. Here is a video clip recorded moments before Suleman ‘Shehak’ Jan succumbed to his bullet wounds, where he speaks his last words addressed to his friends, family and the Baloch nation. WARNING! This Video contains Graphic Images. Viewer Discretion is strongly advised Shehak Jan’s Message to his comrades: “My sangats (comrades), I have been shot. If I die, our fight with the enemy is to continue. The Freedom for Balochistan is our aim. All the sacrifices that our sangats have made, and are still making, is for Balochistan. For the sake of their sacrifices I urge our leadership, don’t do anything that might harm our organization and cause the struggle to stop. “In order to strengthen the struggle and foil all the tactics of the enemy, every Sangat must struggle. I may not have much strength left to speak… “Perhaps I am short of time. Long Live Balochistan. Long Live BLF. Long Live Free Balochistan. Salaam Alek! Shehak Jan’s Message to his Family: “O mother, don’t be sad at all, I am not dying a coward’s death. If I die, I will be dying like a man. My children, be proud of me that I have fought for my nation. [Sound of gunfire. “The ones at the hilltop are shooting? They are shooting at a higher trajectory ]. “We have fought and luckily I have been shot at the front (of my body). “My mother, don’t be sad at all. “My sisters, don’t be sad at all. “I have sacrificed for a good cause. I have not done anything wrong that you would ever be ashamed of among the folks. Salaam Alek!” Right after recording this message Shehak Jan gave all of his belongings and bullets to his Sangats. He said: these bullets are enough. I am already hit and may not last long. I will kill at least two of enemy soldiers and then shoot myself. I will not let them take me alive. After the Mehi carnage, the Pakistani Army committed yet another war crime when they tied the bodies of Baloch fighters behind their military trucks and dragged them for many miles. Most of the dead were so badly mutilated by the Pakistan Military, they were beyond recognition when dumped for collection by their families.

The Balochistan conflict is an ongoing conflict between Baloch nationalists and the governments of Pakistan and Iran in the Balochistan region of South Asia, which includes Balochistan Province in southwestern Pakistan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran, and the Balochistan region of southern Afghanistan. Balochi demands include greater autonomy, increased royalties from natural resources and provincial revenue, and in some cases full independence. There have been many claims of human rights abuses. Recently, militants have clashed with the Islamic Republic of Iran over its respective Baloch region, which borders Pakistan. The belligerent groups operate in the Pakistani and Iranian parts of the region, and in southern Afghanistan. Since the 2010s, attacks against the Shia community by sectarian groups - though not always directly related to the political struggle - have been on the rise, contributing to tensions in Balochistan. Shortly after Pakistan's creation in 1947, the Pakistan Army began operations to subdue Kalat-based insurgents who had rejected the King of Kalat's decision to accede to Pakistan. A subsequent Baloch separatist movement gained momentum in the 1960s, following the introduction of a new constitution which limited provincial autonomy and enacted the 'One Unit' concept of political organization in Pakistan. Tension continued to grow amid consistent political disorder and instability at the federal level. The unrest continued into the 1970s, cumulating with a government-ordered military operation in the region in 1973. Assisted by Iran, Pakistani forces inflicted heavy casualties on the separatists. The insurgency fell into decline after a return to the four-province structure and the abolishment of the Sardari system. In the 2000s, however, the insurgency gained strength in conjunction with the deteriorating law and order situation in neighboring afghanistan and instability at the Federal level. Although it has vast natural resources, Balochistan is one of Pakistan’s poorest regions.Baloch separatists allege that the central government of Pakistan is systematically suppressing development in Balochistan in order to keep the Balochs weak, whilst their opponents argue that international business interests have been unwilling to invest in the region due to the continuing unrest. The Balochistan Liberation Army, identified as a terrorist organization by Pakistan, Britain, and other governments, is the most widely-known Baloch separatist group. Since 2000 it has conducted numerous deadly attacks on Pakistani troops, police, and civilians. Other violent separatist groups include Lashkar-e-Balochistan and the Baloch Liberation United Front (BLUF)

Quetta/ Geneva, Sep 08: The largest and resource-rich province of Pakistan, Balochistan, celebrate August 11 as its `Independence Day’ and blames Pakistan for its illegal occupation since 1948. Facing poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and inequity, the people in Balochistan feel a deep sense of insecurity and disgruntlement against the Pakistan regime. Human rights violations have reached `epidemic proportions’ in the region. On August 11, 2014, Baloch nationalist leaders issued a written declaration demanding Balochistan’s independence. The declaration forwarded to the concerned authorities says that Pakistani armed forces have launched a campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Balochistan, and are systematically kidnapping, imprisoning and murdering Baloch political activists, students, lawyers, intellectuals and nationalist leaders.
