Land
Land, sometimes referred to as dry land, is the solid surface of the Earth that is not permanently covered by water. The vast majority of human activity occurs in land areas that support agriculture, habitat, and various natural resources.
Some life forms (including terrestrial plants and terrestrial animals) have developed from predecessor species that lived in bodies of water.
Areas where land meets large bodies of water are called coastal zones. The division between land and water is a fundamental concept to humans. The demarcation between land and water can vary by local jurisdiction and other factors. A maritime boundary is one example of a political demarcation. A variety of natural boundaries exist to help clearly define where water meets land. Solid rock landforms are easier to demarcate than marshy or swampy boundaries, where there is no clear point at which the land ends and a body of water has begun. Demarcation can further vary due to tides and weather.

Öland
Öland (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈøË?land]) is the second largest Swedish island and the smallest of the traditional provinces of Sweden. Öland has an area of 1,342 km² and is located in the Baltic Sea just off the coast of SmÃ¥land. The island has 25,000 inhabitants. It is separated from the mainland by the Kalmar Strait and connected to it by the 6-km Öland Bridge, which opened on 30 September in 1972.
Administration
The traditional provinces of Sweden no longer serve administrative or political purposes but still exist as historical and cultural entities. Öland is part of the administrative county of Kalmar County (Kalmar län) and consists of the two municipalities of Borgholm Municipality and Mörbylånga Municipality. There was an Öland County in the short period between 1819 and 1826; otherwise, the island has been part of Kalmar County since 1634.
Heraldry
Öland was granted provincial arms in 1560, but it would not be until the 1940s that the province was assigned its proper ones. The arms granted to Öland had been mixed up with the arms granted to Åland and this was not discovered until the 20th century. While Öland changed its coat of arms, Åland, which was now a Finnish (autonomous) province, kept its established but originally unintended coat of arms. The deer is meant to symbolise the status of Öland as a royal game park and the arms are topped by a ducal crown. Blazon: "Azure a Deer Or attired, hoofed and gorged Gules."

Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) are one of the categories of top-level domains (TLDs) maintained by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) for use in the Domain Name System of the Internet. A top-level domain is the last label of every fully qualified domain name. They are called generic for historic reasons; initially, they were contrasted with country-specific TLDs in RFC 920.
The core group of generic top-level domains consists of the com, info, net, and org domains. In addition, the domains biz, name, and pro are also considered generic; however, these are designated as restricted, because registrations within them require proof of eligibility within the guidelines set for each.
Historically, the group of generic top-level domains included domains, created in the early development of the domain name system, that are now sponsored by designated agencies or organizations and are restricted to specific types of registrants. Among these, a mother in a diminished "Longneck" herd gives birth to a single baby, named Littlefoot. Years later, Littlefoot plays with Cera, a "Three-horn", until her father intervenes; whereupon Littlefoot's mother describes the different kinds of dinosaurs: "Three-horns", "Spiketails", "Swimmers", and "Flyers".
That night, as Littlefoot follows a "Hopper", he encounters Cera again, and they play together briefly until a large "Sharptooth" attacks them. Littlefoot's mother comes to their rescue, receiving fatal injuries in the process. An earthquake swallows up the Sharptooth and divides Littlefoot and Cera from their herds. Littlefoot receives advice from his dying mother. Depressed and confused, Littlefoot meets an old "Clubtail" named Rooter, who consoles him. He is then guided by his mother's voice telling him to follow the sun to the Great Valley.

That night, as Littlefoot follows a ""Hopper"", he encounters Cera again, and they play together briefly until a large ""Sharptooth"" attacks them. Littlefoot's mother comes to their rescue, receiving fatal injuries in the process. An earthquake swallows up the Sharptooth and divides Littlefoot and Cera from their herds. Littlefoot receives advice from his dying mother. Depressed and confused, Littlefoot meets an old ""Clubtail"" named Rooter, who consoles him. He is then guided by his mother's voice telling him to follow the sun to the Great Valley.

Trip to southern Sweden - Öland, Kalmar & Kristianstad
Välkommen! A trip to Sweden is always a good idea in my view, especially (but not only) when you can drive there in a matter of hours. The difficulty can sometimes be having to return. There are so many things I love about our neighboring country, and since it was just a brief, five-day visit in the southern-most part (of a huge country, compared to Denmark), this is just a little taste of its loveliness. I hope you enjoy it, and keep in mind that any opinions offered here are simply my subjective, little musings based on a brief visit as a tourist, partly intended as ideas for other potential travelers, partly as vicarious traveling and entertainment. Familjekul på Öland
Om barnen är glada är de vuxna glada. Ett epitet som de flesta föräldrar tillämpar under semestern. På Öland är det lätt att göra barnen nöjda och det är enkelt att göra soliga, roliga saker tillsammans. Älskar dina barn att leka och upptäcka? Nya, fina lekplatser och aktivitetsbanor med utmaningar för både små och stora finns i de större tätorterna. På Öland är det alltid nära till en unik naturupplevelse eller en historisk sevärdhet, något som brukar uppskattas särskilt av barn som inte gärna spenderar semestern i baksätet på bilen. Det är egentligen bara er egen äventyrslust som kan begränsa er. På Öland kan ni träffa på kamelskötare, glasblåsare, karamellkokare, fyrvaktare, vrakdykare och kungar och prinsessor. Gråborg & S:t Knuts kapell
Vårt första stopp på Öland gjorde vi vid Gråborg & S:t Knuts kapell. Gråborg är Ölands största fornborg och även en av Sveriges största anläggningar i sitt slag. De äldsta delarna av fornborgen är sannolikt från 500-talet.
200 meter norr om borgen hittar vi S:t Knuts kapell, och det tyder på att borgen har haft en stor betydelse under medeltiden. Kapellet uppfördes under 1100-talet och kapellbyggnaden har troligen omgivits av en mindre kyrkogård, både skelett och gravstenar har påträffats i närheten.
Lerkaka Väderkvarnar
Idag hittar du Ölands kanske vackraste och mest välskötta väderkvarnar i Lerkaka. Det blev vårt andra stopp på ön.
Sandby Borg
Här i Sandby Borg, vårt tredje stopp, har arkeologer hittat flera spektakulära fynd och man vet att en våldsamma och blodig attack har ägt rum i borgen.
Gettlinge Gravfält
Vårt fjärde stopp blev Gettlinge gravfält på södra Öland, ett av de största gravfälten på ön, med en längd av nästan två kilometer. Här har man begravt sina döda från yngre bronsåldern fram till vikingatid, alltså i över 2 000 år.
LÃ¥nge Jan
På Ölands södra udde vid fyren Långe Jan gör vi vårt femte stopp. Långe Jan tändes första gången den första november 1785.
S:t Johannes kapell
Ett stenkors väster om vägen mellan Långe Jan och Ottenby kungsgård utmärker platsen för det dåtida S.T Johannes kapell.
Kungsstenarna
Inte långt från Långe Jan gjorde vi vårt sjunde stopp vid Kungsstenarna, två resta stenar som markerar en gravanläggning från järnåldern.
Det finns flera sägner om Kungsstenarna. I den södra stenen finns ett hål vid basen. Enligt gammal folktro är det asaguden Oden som genomborrat stenen.
Karl X Gustavs mur
Muren uppfördes på uppdrag av Karl X Gustav som vid tidpunkten var tronföljare. Året därpå efterträdde han drottning Kristina på Sveriges tron.
Den 4,5 kilometer långa muren byggdes tvärs över Öland och är endast genombruten av de två landsvägarna.
Borgholms slottsruin
Vårt åttonde stopp är Borgholms slottsruin, som har en lång och spännande historia som startar på 1100-talet.
På Borgholms Slott har det myllrat av människor genom seklerna. Den kungliga borgen i Borgholm var ett av rikets viktigaste fästen.
Under hela medeltiden och ända fram till 1600-talet var Borgholm upprepade gånger skådeplatsen för strider och belägringar, förstörelse och återuppbyggnad. Svenskar, danskar och tyskar har omväxlande innehaft borgen och kungar har hållit hov i dess salar.
Karl X Gustaf är den ende av Sveriges kungar som bott sammanhängande någon längre tid på slottet.
Borgholms Slott ett av Ölands största turistmål med svensk, nordisk och europeisk historia som sträcker sig över 900 år!
Runstenen Tingsflisan
Vårt nionde stopp är i det lilla samhället Köpingsvik. Ett hundratal meter Norr om kyrkan finns en mäktig runsten, kallad Tingsflisan och rest på 1000-talet.
Byrums raukar
Det elfte stoppet gör vi vid Byrum. Här finns Ölands mest kända och finaste raukområde.
LÃ¥nge Erik
På Ölands norra udde har fyren Långe Erik spridit sitt ljus ända sedan 1845 för att vägleda sjöfarten genom mörkret. Här gör vi vårt tionde och sista stopp på den här bilturen.
Så klart hinner man inte se allt som finns att se på Öland på två halvdagar, men en hel del mellan Långe Jan och Långe Erik hann vi med. Det här var 12 tips till dig som ska besöka Öland.

Sikavarp and St. Brita’s Chappel is on the east side of Öland. Sikavarp used to be a fishing village in the Middle Ages. The ruins of St. Brita’s Chappel/large cross are from the 13th century. There is also a lighthouse built in the years 1871-1872.

7. Karums Alvar & Noah’s Ark (starts at 4.00 into the video)
Karums Alvar and Noah’s Ark is almost in the centre of Öland. The area is ancient burial ground that dates back to the Bronze Age. One of the graves is shaped as a ship and it has been given the name Noah’s Ark.

6. Gettlinge Burial Field (starts at 5.21 into the video)
Gettlinge burial field is located on the south-east coast of Öland, along the main road. Gettlinge burial field is one of the largest and most beautiful prehistoric burial sites on the island of Öland. The grave field extends over a length of about 2 kilometres.

Gråborg & St. Knut’s Chapel is located in the centre of Öland and it is only a couple of hundred meters between the two places. Gråborg is Öland’s biggest ancient castle (borg, fortress) and was build suring the Iron Age. St. Knut’s Chapel was built during the 1100’s.

This place is on the northern part of Öland, near the village of Böda. At this place one can see a reconstructed longhouse from the Iron Age.

10. Lerkaka Windmills (starts at 0.22 into the video)
Besides the main road at Lerkaka on the eastern side of Öland, we find a row of old windmills. These windmills are in very good condition and you can even have a look inside them.
9. LÃ¥nge Jan & Ottenby (starts at 1.42 into the video)
This place is famous among bird watchers and it has Sweden’s tallest lighthouse called Långe Jan. You will find this place at the southernmost tip of Öland.

There are so many things I love about our neighboring country, and since it was just a brief, five-day visit in the southern-most part (of a huge country, compared to Denmark), this is just a little taste of its loveliness. I hope you enjoy it, and keep in mind that any opinions offered here are simply my subjective, little musings based on a brief visit as a tourist, partly intended as ideas for other potential travelers, partly as vicarious traveling and entertainment. The acronym gTLD stands for generic Top Level Domain. To understand what one is, you need to know what a Top Level Domain is. Stemming from the early 2000s, the top level domain nomenclature comprises extensions such as .com, .org, .net or .au.
The existing TLDs are classified by ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) into several categories, among which the most known are:
• Generic (gTLD): .com; .net; .org;
• Country-Code (ccTLD): .au; .uk; .us;
• Sponsored (sTLDS): .tel; .mobi; .jobs;
• Infrastructure (iTLDs): .arpa;
• Reserved: .test; .example; .invalid;
Returning to gTLDs, they represent the most common type of Top Level Domains and 23 such extensions have been introduced into use since 2004. However, for a period of time, no new ones have been created. This, nevertheless, is about to change starting with 2014, as a new series of gTLDs will be released, triggering the opportunity for 1500 new extensions to be used on the Internet in the following years.
The necessity of introducing more gTLDs is owed to the continuous expansion of the information flow and businesses in the online environment. To keep up with the new requirements, new extensions need to be delivered. Their introduction implies a set of benefits, among which we mention:
- The simplification of domain names used for new or existing businesses and individuals (e.g. www.myexample-businesslondon.com can become www.examplebusiness.london);
- Increase of visibility through relevant extensions (such as .builder, .plumbing) prior to the actual accessing of your related site;
- Immediate identification of the locality of your business through extensions such as .london, helping visitors to gain related insight.
To obtain a gTLD, the principle of fist come -- first served is applied. The release of such domains depends on the type of the customer. There are four major phases of release with slight degrees of variations depending on the registry of each gTLD. These are:
• The Sunrise phase -- trademark owners and established businesses are enabled to safeguard their identity before the domain extensions become available to the general public;
• The landrush and early access stages -- refer to the period when higher value, shorter and memorable denominations for domains are put on sale at premium prices;

During the age of the dinosaurs, a massive drought forces several herds of dinosaurs to seek an oasis known as the Great Valley. Among these, a mother in a diminished "Longneck" herd gives birth to a single baby, named Littlefoot. Years later, Littlefoot plays with Cera, a "Three-horn", until her father intervenes; whereupon Littlefoot's mother describes the different kinds of dinosaurs: "Three-horns", "Spiketails", "Swimmers", and "Flyers".
That night, as Littlefoot follows a "Hopper", he encounters Cera again, and they play together briefly until a large "Sharptooth" attacks them. Littlefoot's mother comes to their rescue, receiving fatal injuries in the process. An earthquake swallows up the Sharptooth and divides Littlefoot and Cera from their herds. Littlefoot receives advice from his dying mother. Depressed and confused, Littlefoot meets an old "Clubtail" named Rooter, who consoles him. He is then guided by his mother's voice telling him to follow the sun to the Great Valley.

When she finds the gang and tells them about it, Petrie flies around telling everyone in the valley, and suddenly everyone thinks Cera is a hero, even when she insists she isn't but she soon lets the fame go to her head and begins to fabricate her story, which Littlefoot and Ruby become skeptical of. However, the Belly Draggers return, and they've brought friends.

200 meter norr om borgen hittar vi S:t Knuts kapell, och det tyder på att borgen har haft en stor betydelse under medeltiden. Kapellet uppfördes under 1100-talet och kapellbyggnaden har troligen omgivits av en mindre kyrkogård, både skelett och gravstenar har påträffats i närheten.
Lerkaka Väderkvarnar
Idag hittar du Ölands kanske vackraste och mest välskötta väderkvarnar i Lerkaka. Det blev vårt andra stopp på ön.
Sandby Borg
Här i Sandby Borg, vårt tredje stopp, har arkeologer hittat flera spektakulära fynd och man vet att en våldsamma och blodig attack har ägt rum i borgen.
Gettlinge Gravfält
Vårt fjärde stopp blev Gettlinge gravfält på södra Öland, ett av de största gravfälten på ön, med en längd av nästan två kilometer. Här har man begravt sina döda från yngre bronsåldern fram till vikingatid, alltså i över 2 000 år.
LÃ¥nge Jan
På Ölands södra udde vid fyren Långe Jan gör vi vårt femte stopp. Långe Jan tändes första gången den första november 1785.
S:t Johannes kapell
Ett stenkors väster om vägen mellan Långe Jan och Ottenby kungsgård utmärker platsen för det dåtida S.T Johannes kapell.
Kungsstenarna
Inte långt från Långe Jan gjorde vi vårt sjunde stopp vid Kungsstenarna, två resta stenar som markerar en gravanläggning från järnåldern.
Det finns flera sägner om Kungsstenarna. I den södra stenen finns ett hål vid basen. Enligt gammal folktro är det asaguden Oden som genomborrat stenen.
Karl X Gustavs mur
Muren uppfördes på uppdrag av Karl X Gustav som vid tidpunkten var tronföljare. Året därpå efterträdde han drottning Kristina på Sveriges tron.
Den 4,5 kilometer långa muren byggdes tvärs över Öland och är endast genombruten av de två landsvägarna.
Borgholms slottsruin
Vårt åttonde stopp är Borgholms slottsruin, som har en lång och spännande historia som startar på 1100-talet.
På Borgholms Slott har det myllrat av människor genom seklerna. Den kungliga borgen i Borgholm var ett av rikets viktigaste fästen.
Under hela medeltiden och ända fram till 1600-talet var Borgholm upprepade gånger skådeplatsen för strider och belägringar, förstörelse och återuppbyggnad. Svenskar, danskar och tyskar har omväxlande innehaft borgen och kungar har hållit hov i dess salar.
Karl X Gustaf är den ende av Sveriges kungar som bott sammanhängande någon längre tid på slottet.
Borgholms Slott ett av Ölands största turistmål med svensk, nordisk och europeisk historia som sträcker sig över 900 år!
Runstenen Tingsflisan
Vårt nionde stopp är i det lilla samhället Köpingsvik. Ett hundratal meter Norr om kyrkan finns en mäktig runsten, kallad Tingsflisan och rest på 1000-talet.
Byrums raukar
Det elfte stoppet gör vi vid Byrum. Här finns Ölands mest kända och finaste raukområde.
LÃ¥nge Erik
På Ölands norra udde har fyren Långe Erik spridit sitt ljus ända sedan 1845 för att vägleda sjöfarten genom mörkret. Här gör vi vårt tionde och sista stopp på den här bilturen.
Så klart hinner man inte se allt som finns att se på Öland på två halvdagar, men en hel del mellan Långe Jan och Långe Erik hann vi med. Det här var 12 tips till dig som ska besöka Öland.

In this video I take you through 10 beautiful places that are worth a visit if you ever come to the island of Öland in Sweden. I have ranked the places according to what I think and it starts with #10 going to #1 which is Eketorp and my favorite place.

10. Lerkaka Windmills (starts at 0.22 into the video)
Besides the main road at Lerkaka on the eastern side of Öland, we find a row of old windmills. These windmills are in very good condition and you can even have a look inside them.
9. LÃ¥nge Jan & Ottenby (starts at 1.42 into the video)
This place is famous among bird watchers and it has Sweden’s tallest lighthouse called Långe Jan. You will find this place at the southernmost tip of Öland.

8. Sikavarp & St. Brita’s Chappel (starts at 2.40 into the video)
Sikavarp and St. Brita’s Chappel is on the east side of Öland. Sikavarp used to be a fishing village in the Middle Ages. The ruins of St. Brita’s Chappel/large cross are from the 13th century. There is also a lighthouse built in the years 1871-1872.

7. Karums Alvar & Noah’s Ark (starts at 4.00 into the video)
Karums Alvar and Noah’s Ark is almost in the centre of Öland. The area is ancient burial ground that dates back to the Bronze Age. One of the graves is shaped as a ship and it has been given the name Noah’s Ark.

6. Gettlinge Burial Field (starts at 5.21 into the video)
Gettlinge burial field is located on the south-east coast of Öland, along the main road. Gettlinge burial field is one of the largest and most beautiful prehistoric burial sites on the island of Öland. The grave field extends over a length of about 2 kilometres.

5. Gråborg & St. Knut’s Chapel (starts at 6.47 into the video)
Gråborg & St. Knut’s Chapel is located in the centre of Öland and it is only a couple of hundred meters between the two places. Gråborg is Öland’s biggest ancient castle (borg, fortress) and was build suring the Iron Age. St. Knut’s Chapel was built during the 1100’s.

4. Skäftekär (starts at 8.15 into the video)
This place is on the northern part of Öland, near the village of Böda. At this place one can see a reconstructed longhouse from the Iron Age.

3. Ismantorp Borg (starts at 9.36 into the video)
This is another ancient castle (borg, fortress) located in the centre of Öland. It believed to have been constructed during the Migration Period or late Iron Age.

Långe Erik is a lighthouse at the northern tip of Öland. As early as 1935 the lighthouse was declared a national monument. A bridge to lighthouse island was built in 1965.

Välkommen! A trip to Sweden is always a good idea in my view, especially (but not only) when you can drive there in a matter of hours. The difficulty can sometimes be having to return. There are so many things I love about our neighboring country, and since it was just a brief, five-day visit in the southern-most part (of a huge country, compared to Denmark), this is just a little taste of its loveliness. The aim of this video is to explain what gTLDs are, why you need as many as possible, the various phases of their release and the manner in which they can be purchased with 123-reg.
The acronym gTLD stands for generic Top Level Domain. To understand what one is, you need to know what a Top Level Domain is. Stemming from the early 2000s, the top level domain nomenclature comprises extensions such as .com, .org, .net or .au.
The existing TLDs are classified by ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) into several categories, among which the most known are:
• Generic (gTLD): .com; .net; .org;
• Country-Code (ccTLD): .au; .uk; .us;
• Sponsored (sTLDS): .tel; .mobi; .jobs;
• Infrastructure (iTLDs): .arpa;
• Reserved: .test; .example; .invalid;
Returning to gTLDs, they represent the most common type of Top Level Domains and 23 such extensions have been introduced into use since 2004. However, for a period of time, no new ones have been created. This, nevertheless, is about to change starting with 2014, as a new series of gTLDs will be released, triggering the opportunity for 1500 new extensions to be used on the Internet in the following years.
The necessity of introducing more gTLDs is owed to the continuous expansion of the information flow and businesses in the online environment. To keep up with the new requirements, new extensions need to be delivered. Their introduction implies a set of benefits, among which we mention:
- The simplification of domain names used for new or existing businesses and individuals (e.g. www.myexample-businesslondon.com can become www.examplebusiness.london);
- Increase of visibility through relevant extensions (such as .builder, .plumbing) prior to the actual accessing of your related site;
- Immediate identification of the locality of your business through extensions such as .london, helping visitors to gain related insight.
To obtain a gTLD, the principle of fist come -- first served is applied. The release of such domains depends on the type of the customer. There are four major phases of release with slight degrees of variations depending on the registry of each gTLD. These are:
• The Sunrise phase -- trademark owners and established businesses are enabled to safeguard their identity before the domain extensions become available to the general public;
• The landrush and early access stages -- refer to the period when higher value, shorter and memorable denominations for domains are put on sale at premium prices;
• The stage of general availability -- the point where the new gTLDs are taken by the first customer to request one at an advantageous price.
All of the above are preceded by a pre-order period, but it is important that the four phases to follow the mentioned order.
