Lea (unit)

The lea or lay was a British unit of length.

The Oxford English Dictionary describes it as a measure "of varying quantity" and cites quotations from within various areas of the textile industry which define it as "80 yards" (1888 note on a 1399 text), "200 Threds reel'd on a Reel four yards about" (1696), "each lay containing 200 yards" (1704", "eighty threads" (1776), "forty threads" (1825), "300 yards" (1882) and "in worsted 80 yards; in cotton and silk 120 yards" (1885).

Cardarelli has asserted that it had a fixed value of 360 feet.

River Lea

The River Lea (or Lee) in England originates in Marsh Farm, Leagrave, Luton in the Chiltern Hills and flows generally southeast, east, and then south through east London where it meets the River Thames, the last section being known as Bow Creek. It is one of the largest rivers in London and the easternmost major tributary of the Thames. Its valley creates a long chain of marshy ground along its lower length, much of which has been used for gravel and mineral extraction, reservoirs and industry. The river has been canalised to provide a navigable route for boats into eastern Hertfordshire, known as the Lee Navigation. While the lower Lea remains somewhat polluted, its upper stretch and tributaries, classified as chalk streams, are a major source of drinking water for London. A diversion known as the New River, opened in 1613, abstracts clean water away from the lower stretch of the river for drinking. Its origins in the Chilterns contribute to the extreme hardness (high mineral content) of London tap water.

Lea is the second album by Lea Salonga, presenting a danceable R&B sound. The album received favourable reviews for its diverse mix of American-style R&B and easy listening ballads, and became her first multi-platinum album.

Finn the Human

Finn the human (Real name: Finn Mertens), known as Finn to most characters is, along with Jake the Dog, a fictional character and one of the main cast of the American animated television series Adventure Time created by Pendleton Ward. He is voiced by Jeremy Shada in most appearances. The character made his debut in the original pilot, wherein he was named Pen and voiced by Zack Shada, Jeremy's older brother.

The character has been met with largely positive critical reception.

Finn (album)

Finn is the first album by The Finn Brothers, a music project of New Zealand brothers Tim and Neil Finn.

The album was produced by Tchad Blake and the Finn Brothers in Auckland, New Zealand. The songs "Angels Heap" and "Suffer Never" were both released as singles.

Finn (Frisian)

Finn, son of Folcwald, was a legendary Frisian king. He is mentioned in Widsith, in Beowulf, and in the Finnsburg Fragment. There is also a Finn mentioned in Historia Brittonum.

He was married to Hildeburh, a sister of the Danish lord Hnæf, and was killed in a fight with Hnæf's lieutenant Hengest after Hnæf was himself killed by Frisians.

A passage from Beowulf as translated by Seamus Heaney (lines 1089–1090) reads:

A possible reference to a lost tradition on Finn appears in Snorri Sturluson's Skáldskaparmál. Snorri talks of the animosity between Eadgils and Onela (which also appears in Beowulf), and writes that Aðils (Eadgils) was at war with a Norwegian king named �li (Onela). �li died in the war, and Aðils took �li's helmet Battle-boar and his horse Raven. The Danish berserkers who had helped him win the war demanded three pounds of gold each in pay, and two pieces of armour that nothing could pierce: the helmet battle-boar and the mailcoat Finn's heritage. They also wanted the famous ring Svíagris. Aðils considered the pay outrageous and refused.
