First Ringer has just about the best thing I've seen about the Abramoff scandal.

Tom Harkin ($15,500) and even Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid ($30,000). In all, Abramoff and Co. gave $4,434,761 over the last six years to both parties. Why, there’s even a little $9,000 contribution to the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor Party with Abramoff’s fingerprints on it, but not a contribution to the Minnesota GOP state party.

This is as misleading as it is wrong. Jack Abramoff gave NOTHING to Democrats. Mitch you neeed to stop learning things, and I use the term very loosely, only from other blogs. Clients of Abramoff's gave money to Democrats, but you know what, THAT's not illegal.
What is the alleged violation, as far as I understand it, arises from two things, first Abramoff and Scanlon bilked Indian Casinos of HUGE fees promising things they did not intend to deliver (fraud), and further, used those fees, (not directed client fees), to lavish gifts on republican represntatives which they then prevailed upon to vote in a certain way. Jack Abramoff was once quoted as saying something akin to the right thing to do with Democrats is to choke the Bleep out of em, so SURE he gave to Democrats, except, he didn't.
Check your facts, getting crap from the right-wing lie-o-sphere is hardly worth reading.

Who took money from Abramoff is a small matter. Who took bribes from Abramoff is the question. Hey, maybe there'll be just as many Dems indicted as Republicans. But I wouldn't bet on it.

She said Oberstar would keep $1,500 in 'perfectly legal' donations he got in 2002 and 2004 from the Agua band, as well as $1,000 each from the Mississippi Choctaw and Saginaw Chippewa."

Well then, going by your logic PB none of the Republicans who took money from Abramoff's clients didn't do anything illegal either! Therefore, no one in DC has anything to worry about.

Slamming anyone for posting at this site seems like a pretty bad idea to me. Frankly, I worry that only conversing with those who always agree with us contributes to the problems our country is facing right now and squashes all attempts to reach common ground in order to solve problems.
Since the corruption in Washington does reach across the aisle, why not discuss how we can clean house throughout and redirect our government to care for Americans and American issues rather than their re-election coffers and funding their pet projects?

And congratulations on all that extra money, as I hear it comes in handy with the cost of living as outrageously high as it is on the East and West coasts.
