The link for "arborescent" links to an unrelated philosophical term. Either a clarification should be made on the page to which the link directs or a new page should be established for the botanical use of the word.

Merger[edit]

There is extra info on apical meristems at the other article, but probably not enough to justify having it's own page. If it was merged here it could greatly improve the article.(Million_Moments 21:09, 16 February 2007 (UTC))

I vote for not merging this with apical meristem. I was looking for information on meristematic tissue in general, in connection with developing information about intercalary meristems. The presence of a general page is, I think, a plus.Stipoid 11:27, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

No mention of the promeristem here, which is the least determined part of the apical meristem. Fuzzform 23:43, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

I Support the merger, though not strongly. At present there is too much duplication between the two pages and the Meristem page is not so long that it would be difficult to find information about apical meristems in it. Velela 20:11, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Image description problem[edit]

See the description of File:Root-tip-tag.png : under "2" it has "columelle" (from the French, probably), but on the article page it is inscribed as "calyptrogen".

It has been changed, but in my experience it is mostly referred to as "columella" in scientific literature. Also, the meristem of the root is referred to as both "root apical meristem" and just "root meristem" (or "primary root meristem"), and the latter is more correct because the "apical" part means top, while the meristem is at the bottom of the root. Floral Meristem ending[edit]

The last paragraph in the Floral Meristem subsection is bizarre. It is a particular example, apparently related to Floral Meristems, but no details are given that explain what about floral meristems was manipulated, why, or with what information learned. I would suggest its removal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.253.6.9 (talk) 18:36, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
