India approves OROP to equalise veterans' pensions

India approved a long-awaited programme to equalise pension payments for retired military personnel despite it being a "huge fiscal burden," defence minister Manohar Parrikar said on Saturday.

ANKARA/LONDON - Britain moved closer to military action in Syria as a senior minister on Saturday said Europe's migration crisis had to be tackled at its source and a newspaper said a parliamentary vote on bombing Islamic State militants in Syria could take place next month.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to end a blame game over a spate of attacks, Pakistan’s foreign policy chief said. India considers extending maternity leave

India is considering extending maternity leave to 24 weeks from 12 weeks, a government official said, adding that it would encourage more women to breastfeed and help reduce high rates of child malnutrition in the country. A government official said an expectant mother needs one month of rest before birth, and seven months after, to adequately nurse her child.  Full Article
