An Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is an encrypted machine image of a specific computer running a base operating system, configured in a specific way, and can also contain a set of applications and services for accomplishing a specific purpose. An AMI contains all the information necessary to start up and run the software on the image. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the computing environment for running instances of an AMI.
AWS CloudFormation gives developers and system administrators an easy way to create and manage a collection of related AWS resources. The CloudFormation stack associated with this product will launch an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) with the software and configure related resources, such as Elastic IPs, VPCs, and security groups.

Usage Instructions
Once the instance is running, access the instance using a browser using https. The WebUI will first request the user to decrypt a dynamic password generated by uploading the private key file. The private key file is used only for decryption verification purposes. Then the user is instructed to configure a password for the read-write user and the read-only user. The user is then instructed to step through a bunch of configuration screens, where the user can configure the host name, pick a feature bundle to enable and cache disks to add to the system. Once all are configured, the system takes a while to configure the system and finally the user is given an option to join the AMI to a active directory domain. Once the user does that, the AMI is ready to use. A user can access the default share on the AMI using a CIFS connection on a windows instance.
