The difference between Present Perfect tense (We have gone) and Simple past tense (we went) – English Grammar Lesson Take the quiz : http://www.learnex.in/present-perfect-tense-we-have-gone-vs-simple-past-tense-we-went/ In this lesson, you will learn the difference between the present perfect and simple past tense. Often, people get confused when to use the above sentence structures. The Present Perfect tense: is used to speak about an action is completed in the present time period. This structure is always linked to the present time period and cannot be used to speak about an action that was completed in the past. It is also used to speak about an action that has no specified time. The verb is in the past participle form. Example 01: I have watched three movies this week. (‘this week’ is the present week. Use the present perfect tense with terms like ‘today’ ‘this morning’ ‘this year/month’) Example 02: I have completed my graduation. (time not specified) Example 03: My uncle has gone to New York three times. (We use the present perfect because he exists in the present and so far he has gone to New York thrice) Example 04: I have lived in London for seven years. (I still live in London in the present, till date) Negative Sentences: Use ‘not’ in the negative. Example 01: I have not seen John today Example 02: I have never eaten Chinese food. (till date I haven’t eaten Chinese) Questions: Place ‘have/has’ before the subject: Example 01: Have you ever watched a horror film? Example 02: Have you read ‘the secret’? The Simple past tense: is used to talk about a action that was completed in the past. The verb is in the past form. Example 01: I watched three films last week. (last week is a past time frame and so we use the past form ‘watched’) Example 02: I lived in London for seven years. (we use the past ‘lived’ as I no longer live in London in the present) Example 03: I completed my graduation in 2013. Example 04: My uncle went to NY three times. (here we use ‘went’ because he no longer exists in the current) Negative sentences: Make negatives using ‘did not/didn't’ followed by a verb in the present form. Example 01: I didn't see John yesterday. ( not ‘didn't saw’) Example 02: I did not have pizza last night. Questions: Use did before the subject to make a question. Example 01: Did you read the news paper yesterday? Example 02: Did you call me last evening? The Times of India 2015-04-01The present tense (abbreviated PRES or PRS) is a grammatical tense that locates a situation or event in present time. This linguistic definition refers to a concept that indicates a feature of the meaning of a verb. However, in discussions of specific languages, the term "present tense" is often used to refer to a particular grammatical form that, depending on the language, may frequently be used to express the present nature of an action or, in some cases, may be used to express non-present action. The discussion in this article focuses on the forms used in various languages.
In English, present tense form may be used to express action in the present, a current state of being, an occurrence in the future, or an action that started in the past and continues.
There are two common types of present tense form in most Indo-European languages: the present indicative (i.e., the combination of present tense and indicative mood) and the present subjunctive (i.e., the combination of present tense and subjunctive mood).
I would like to think about it
Not just take a glimpse around it
You know just what I mean
If you've got another minute
It would be nice to be in it
Why would we move so fast
Even with the best of reasons
You still can't go changing seasons
And autumn leaves are changing hue
And if you're home I'll pick you up sometime
We'll go out driving and see the sights and sounds and way it used to be
Its always nice to hear an oldie
Turn to putty but that's the old me
The new is hard as rock
How can we judge if your summer was better than mine
And how can we tell if the moment is in its prime
And words flow like wine
And everyone's taking their time
To see what I mean, lean, furious machine
There is never a dull conclusion
Just a good friendly ending protrusion
And she was always so defensive
Like nothing was ever her fault
Or her responsibility
And this is all i have left to hold
A delicate balance has been exposed
And now it towers around us all
Just goes to show life is so fragile
She used to smile when she'd say
"it's all so meaningless, anyway
So just forget, forget it"
And she was always so morose
Like this was all some bitter joke
But no one was laughing
And now when we speak about her
We never use the present tense
I guess that's what happens
It was safer when you were near:
Don't worry, it's not your fault
I know, i saw it happen
Don't worry, don't take the blame
I would have done the same thing
Don't listen to what it says
Your mind is out to get you
And anyone would do the same
If they had to walk round in your shoes
No matter what they do
No matter what they say
Don't let them bring you down
You can't control what other people think
How could you let them bring you down
How could you know that things could
End this way
Don't you let them bring you down
Don't worry, it's not your fault
Well, then we don't need to pretend anymore
It's real, it's real, let your love be the proof
I can tell that it's the truth, that fear
That fear, there's a beauty out there,
You just gotta know where, it's there
(Chorus)
Yeah, let your loving be the proof
I can tell that it's the truth, that fear, that fear
Yeah, couldn't show you where
At some point, you're a fool tryna run
Yeah, couldn't show you where
At some point, you're a fool tryna run
So the dream that I buried you too deep
Yeah, you go blanking in the sun
I can tell that you're the one
By the feel, I feel
A simple, beautiful love is worth countless
Trials by this fear, by this fear
Unless you are,
(Chorus)
do you see the way that tree bends?
does it inspire?
leaning out to catch the sun's rays
a lesson to be applied
are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?
you can spend your time alone, redigesting past regrets, oh
or you can come to terms and realize
you're the only one who can't forgive yourself, oh
makes much more sense to live in the present tense
have you ideas on how this life ends?
checked your hands and studied the lines
have you the belief that the road ahead ascends off into the light?
seems that needlessly it's getting harder
to find an approach and a way to live
are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
you can spend your time alone redigesting past regrets, oh
or you can come to terms and realize
you're the only one who cannot forgive yourself, oh
lyrics by K. Nardi/except*
Twisting the images
Watching them grow
Into what they are not
Forget we forgot as they fed on what's real
The path I fell onto
Of tears wades through
Await the demise
In sorry disguise from the things that I feel
Time does not exist
The days as thin as mist
Deep within my eyes
There is a heart that died long ago
What is it going to take to get through to you?
To open your fear-blinded eyes?
Because there was this fear that would tear at me
That by our own hands we would fall
These clouds can pass no light
Just silhouettes of tired life
Sorrow begging, why?, for answers miles and miles from the truth
Endurance and patience lost
From fighting this holocaust
Destroying within and eating its way from the core
Time does not exist
These days are meaningless
Deep within my eyes
There is a heart that died long ago
What is it going to take to get through to you?
To open your fear-blinded eyes?
Because there was this fear that would tear at me
That by our own hands we would fall
*Forgive this heart
Long stagnant with its blood
For it is here, within my suffering
That these, the altars of the soul have creaked
Suffering Hour...
Suffering Hour...
Suffering Hour...
My darkest hour is now
What is it going to take to get through to you?
To open your fear-blinded eyes?
Because there was this fear that would tear at me
That by our own hands we would fall
