Konrad is a given name and surname that is often spelled Conrad in English.
Plot
Based somewhat more authentically on the Grimm Brothers' story of a young woman who is unliked by her stepmother, the film includes the talking mirror, a poisoned apple, and some ruffian gold (not diamond) miners (and they aren't dwarfs or cute). It takes place at the time of the Crusades, and depicts the attitudes of the wealthy and the peasant classes toward one another.

The fairytale is over.
[Will is having a nightmare]::Lars: He dreams of fire. They tied him to a stake, then burned his family while he watched. And then they placed a red-hot cross of iron across his face, because he would not repent.::Lilli: What was his crime?::Lars: He would not fight for their cause.::Lilli: Who were they?::Lars: Crusaders for the Church. Men of God. [pause] My face, it frightens you?::Lilli: Yes.::Lars: Scares me, too.
Will: Never look a raven in the eye for too long. Might steal your soul and fly away with it.::Lilli: Why are you staring at me?::Will: It hadn't occurred to me to look anywhere else.::Lilli: It's very rude.::Will: It's one of my better habits.::Lilli: I take it you have no manners, then.::Will: No manners then... and no manners now.::Lilli: Trying to be funny?
Lilli: Trying to be funny?::Will: I was just wondering what it would take to make a princess smile. [he touches her face and she moves away]::Lilli: I'm not a princess.::Will: What are you then?::Lilli: I'm the daughter of Friedrich Hoffman.::Will: Ah, so you're nothing more than a name.::Lilli: What right do you have to say that? You know nothing about me.::Will: I know enough of your kind.::Lilli: How could you know anything about anyone, you live like an animal; you hide out like a criminal.::Will: And what are you doing princess, is this some holiday you're taking?::Lilli: My father will find me -::Will: Where is this great father of yours? How come he hasn't rescued you?::Lilli: He'll find me, I know it! [quietly]::Will: What if he doesn't? [pause]::Lilli: I don't like the way you speak to me.::Will: How would you have me speak?::Lilli: Like a civilized gentleman, and not some savage -::[he slams her up against a pillar with his hand at her throat]::Will: That is a word I will not bear from the lips of any man or woman. The last time I heard that word spoken, it was by one of your so-called gentlemen, and there was nothing gentle about it. Or civilized.::Lilli: Let go of me!::[faintly mocking]::Will: Why?::Lilli: Because you frighten me.::[he looks haunted and releases her]
Claudia Hoffman: You can see, and you can hear, but from inside the tomb of your mind. No breath will escape your lips, no tears your eyes. To the world, you are dead. And soon, even your precious father will forget... you were ever alive. But you, my dear, you will have all eternity... to remember.
Will: Never look a raven in the eye for too long. It might steal your soul and fly away with it.
Claudia Hoffman: [Lilli bites into the poisoned apple] What's the matter, dear? Cat got your tongue?
Lilliana: Look what I found. [holds out a caterpillar] It'll be a butterfly someday.::Friedrich Hoffman: Lilli, I want you to meet... Lady Claudia.::Lilliana: Can I put her in a box?::Friedrich Hoffman: [startled] Who?::Lilliana: The caterpillar.
Claudia Hoffman: This is my brother, Gustav. God did not bless him with a graceful tongue, but he more than compensates with the wit of his hands.
[to Gustav]::Claudia Hoffman: Oh, brother, you mustn't feel bad. The blood you have shed is just the venom of a scheming child.
[Claudia has defaced Lilli's mother's grave]::Lilli: She knew I would come back.::[Stepping out from behind another grave]::Will: Let's not disappoint her then.::[Lilli walks towards him, and smiles]

Why do warm-blooded beauties suddenly turn to stone?!
Conrad the Caterpillar thought he was really killer,
Couldn't wait to build a cocoon (original lyrics)
Couldn't wait to buy blue suede shoes (recent lyrics)
Spent all his days eatin' leaves in the shade
And stayed when the night set, too.
Conrad the Caterpillar knew life would be a thriller
Soon as the threads was spun
Wouldn't stop to play in the Caterpillar Games
Till his own webbing game was done.
He said, "No, no, I got no time to play,
Got a thousand little legs that don't get me too far in a day,
I'm leaving, looks like I can't stay."
That little pillar he found him a willow
Spun in with a craftsmans weave
Wound so tightly to protect him from the light
And all shapes of water that drop from the leaves
Conrad the Caterpillar knew he would be a chiller
And he wound it tighter some more
Wound it so wide and the ends of his legs got sore.
He said, "No, now I can't feel my feet
Just when I thought it was time to take a stroll on down the street
I'm leaving, looks like I can't leave
What do you know?
What's all this moving around with inside me?
What kind of 'piller could touch the world of a miller
Chopping trees to build a new store
Nobody sees a lonely bump on the tree
Except a lump who's crying for more
Conrad the Caterpillar knew life would be a chiller as he wound it tighter some more
Anybody stands in the caterpillar's place is moving in a standing run
He said, "No brother, I just need some room to fly,
I spent all of my days just trying to keep dry
Oh I'd take a waterfall or a drop from my eye
I can't see nothin' from here anyway, I might as well make room and try
Might as well try
Oh no, I just need a little room to play
Got a thousand little wings and I'm gonna use them all today
Ohhh
I aint never been the type to trip,
but I guess I never had a night like this,
when someone walked into a crowded room,
and danced around and shut it down, she left me so confused,
now I know just what I'm here to do,
the situation turned to me and you yea,
and if you let me be the one you're with,
i'll be the one to care for you, whenever you need
Can we chill tonight cuz you're looking kinna right,
girl your body's tight it's feeling kinna right,
for sure you know, the money can't buy,
honey so tight, girl you're kinna right tonight,
cuz you're looking kinna right,
what you're doing to me is feeling kinna right,
for sure you know, I'm gonna keep it real,
the booty's on my mind, girl you're kinna right tonight,
girl you're kinna right tonight...
I've been with a few girls before you,
but I can't remember them anymore ooh,
cuz every since you came around my way,
and spent some time, it blew my mind I'm caught up on you baby,
now there's no one else for me but you,
and there's so many things we've got to do,
and I'm gonna be, what you need me to be,
girl I'll rock for you, if you want me to.
Girl anytime you gots to get anymore, (oh yea)
girl you know you can call, you can call, (you can call me baby)
cuz you're everything I'm waiting for yea,
you're everything I need and more
Can we chill tonight cuz you're looking kinna right,
girl your body's tight it's feeling kinna right,
for sure you know, the money can't buy,
honey so tight, girl you're kinna right tonight,
cuz you're looking kinna right,
what you're doing to me is feeling kinna right,
for sure you know, I'm gonna keep it real,
the booty's on my mind, girl you're kinna right tonight
Ooooh, how you gonna wear a dress like that tonight, you know it aint right,
ooooh, you're making it kind of hard for me to concentrate,
it's more than I can ever take,
ooooh I, (oh I) can't wait to feel your body next to me,
so I'm gonna take this night with you, to do the things that we came here to baby.
Girl you're kinna right, your body kinna tight,
and babe I just might, girl you're kinna right tonight,
girl you're kinna right, your body kinna tight,
and babe I just might, girl you're kinna right tonight,
girl you're kinna right, your body kinna tight,
and babe I just might, girl you're kinna right tonight,
girl you're kinna right, your body kinna tight,
a hound's tooth coat pockets are bulging
with nebutal bought from some doctor
who also was bought to keep those pockets full
the face was lost but partly recovered
so half asleep and half in a frenzy
one side tries to smile enough for two
pictures remain split at the image
cupboards well-stocked with things to diminish
the pain that comes with clarity and mirrors in well-lit rooms
she checks in at dwindling daylight
a week up front asks not to be bothered
the registry will show her mother's name
locks the door sits on the bed just a minute before
she picks her purse up off the floor
pulling out what she needs
warming her wrists in promising water
somebody's love another one's daughter
readies herself apologizing to the motel maids
double-edged and super blue
vertically letting the life from you
casting a new darkness through the room
angels lay their odds on you
know not quite what they should do
