Jeffrey Lewis (born November 20, 1975) is an American singer/songwriter and comic book artist.
Lewis was born in New York City and grew up on the Lower East Side. He attended State University of New York at Purchase, New York, graduating in 1997 with a degree in Literature. His Senior Literary Thesis was on the comic book Watchmen.
Lewis also lectured on the topic of Watchmen at the Institute For Cultural Studies at the University of Leuven, Belgium, in 2000, and the text of his lecture ("The Dual Nature of Apocalypse in Watchmen") was published in the book The Graphic Novel, edited by Jan Baetens, in 2001.
Starting in 2000, he spent about 2 years living in Austin, Texas, playing open mike nights, working odd jobs and distributing his autobiographical comics to local coffee shops.
Several of his musical influences have been acknowledged in his songs such as "Williamsburg Will Oldham Horror", "The History of The Fall" and "The Chelsea Hotel Oral Sex Song", concerning the song by Leonard Cohen. Lewis' lyrics are complex and literate, often combining a nihilistic world-view with a hopeful message and sharp wit. Growing up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, his songs are also highly informed by his home surroundings, with songs name-dropping places such as Williamsburg, the FDR Drive and the East River.

Lewis (Scottish Gaelic: Leòdhas, pronounced [ʎɔː.əs̪], also Isle of Lewis) is the northern part of Lewis and Harris, the largest island of the Western Isles or Outer Hebrides (an archipelago) of Scotland. The total area of Lewis is 683 square miles (1,770 km2).
Lewis is, in general, the lower lying part of the island, with the other part, Harris, being more mountainous. The flatter, more fertile land means Lewis contains the largest settlement, Stornoway, and three-quarters of the population of the Western Isles. Beyond human habitation, the island's diverse habitats are home to an assortment of flora and fauna, such as the golden eagle, red deer and seals and are recognised in a number of conservation areas.
Lewis is of Presbyterian tradition with a rich history, having once been part of the Norse Kingdom of Mann and the Isles. Today, life is very different from elsewhere in Scotland with Sabbath observance, the Gaelic language and peat cutting retaining more importance than elsewhere. Lewis has a rich cultural heritage as can be seen from its myths and legends as well as the local literary and musical traditions.
"And I" is a song written by American R&B singer Ciara, and produced by Adonis Shropshire for Ciara's first album, Goodies (2004). It was released as the album's fourth and final single on August 30, 2005 (see 2005 in music) in North America.
The song was originally the third choice for the fourth single. Ciara has mentioned in an interview that "Thug Style", "Hotline" or "Pick up the Phone" would be the fourth single, but when Ciara suggested "And I" to executives at her previous record label LaFace, they were unhappy because they wanted "Next to You" to be the fourth single.
At the time of the U.S. release of "And I", Ciara's collaboration with Bow Wow, "Like You", and her collaboration with Missy Elliott, "Lose Control", were at the height of their popularity. "And I" peaked at 96 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and 27 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, which were poor positions compared to those attained by the first three singles from the album Goodies. It was not released outside North America because of this, and it is Ciara's least successful single.

Back when I was 4 and I knew the name of every dinosaur I knew how to read ROM comic books My babysitter said I was really smart When the lights went out everything changed The radio music made me feel strange And I had a real bad dream about a gorilla in the bathroom Back when I was 6 I took everything real serious And I thought that every song that came on the radio Was referring to strange sexual acts Because they thought I wouldn't know the facts And being small is hard and no one ever tells you how And back when I was 8 I'd sit outside on an old milk crate And look out at the world from the stoop across the street The boomboxes and the hot concrete And every Halloween they hung A million rubber skeletons across ninth street. Back when I was 12 or so I swear to god I never felt so l...

Jeffrey Lewis is an American anti-folk singer/songwriter and comic book artist. He revisited Belfast with Helen Schreiner and dropped into the NvTv studios to perform 4 songs and a low- budget video. "His songs are clever and funny and genuinely felt; his voice is ragged, flat, and pinched in all the right places" - Eric Grandy, The Stranger.
Once a year, usually at Tuli's birthday, Jeffrey and the Deposit Returners reunite to pay tribute to the great Fug and Mockingbird Tuli Kupferberg with covers of some of his little known gems. Jeffrey is accompanied by Steve Espinola on piano, Peter Stampfel on guitar, Rebecca Tilles and Rachel Swaner on vocals and various instruments. The party took place Oct. 30 , 2016 at the Sidewalk Cafe, Lower East Side NYC. Video: Thelma Blitz

You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments
You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments
You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments on
your own heart
I had no place to put myself but I had lots of time
I had no place to put myself but I had lots of time
I had no place to put myself but I had lots of time so
I threw out some past and made way for more future
Now I'm standing on the scene between my memories and
dreams
Balanced on the seam between my memories and dreams
Floating down the stream between my memories and dreams
and I see a better person waiting his turn to be me
And you don't have to be a scientist to do experiments
You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments
You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments on
your own heart
Now I'm running down the runway inbetween gigantic
numbers
I'm running down the runway inbetween gigantic numbers
I'm running down the runway in between gigantic numbers
with my knapsack and a zero for halo
And my halo's got a hole in it so it don't keep me dry
My halo's got a hole in it so it don't keep me dry
My halo's got a hole in it so it don't keep me dry
But it's okay cause my brain is my heart's umbrella
And you don't have to be a scientist to do experiments
You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments
You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments on
your own heart
I had a girl I had to leave I saw her face upon my
sleeve
I had a girl I had to leave I saw her face upon my
sleeve
I had a girl I had to leave I saw her face upon my
sleeve it kept talking so I put it in the laundry
And as it spun and spun it tried to ask me what I'd
done
And as it spun and spun it tried to ask me what I'd
done
And as it spun and spun it tried to ask me what I'd
done but I was gone on down the road out to Elaine's
'Cos you think patience is a virtue and what you don't
know can't hurt you
And that events can change and shape us more than we
can change ourselves
And that conscious attempt at growth is stupid and I
should just relax and be myself and even think it's
arrogant to try
But you don't have to be a scientist to do experiments
You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments
You don't have to be a scientist to do experiments on
