The flag of Spain (Spanish: Bandera de España, colloquially known as "la Rojigualda"), as it is defined in the Spanish Constitution of 1978, consists of three horizontal stripes: red, yellow and red, the yellow stripe being twice the size of each red stripe. Traditionally, the middle stripe was defined by the more archaic term of gualda, and hence the popular name rojigualda (red-weld).
The origin of the current flag of Spain is the naval ensign of 1785, Pabellón de la Marina de Guerra under Charles III of Spain. It was chosen by Charles III himself among 12 different flags designed by Antonio Valdés y Bazán (all projected flags were presented in a drawing which is in the Naval Museum of Madrid). The flag remained marine for much of the next 50 years, flying over coastal fortresses, marine barracks and other naval property. During the Peninsular War the flag could also be found on marine regiments fighting inland. Not until 1820 was the first Spanish land unit (The La Princesa Regiment) provided with one and it was not until 1843 that Queen Isabella II of Spain would make the flag official.

As part of the re-branding of MTV's 6 international specialist music channels, PostPanic were asked to create all the idents (8 in total) for new channel, MTV Rocks. Director Mischa Rozema developed a central theme and wrote a set of scripts based in an imaginary landscape populated with surreal characters and situations. Shot on location in Northern Spain, the footage was then brought back for some CG trickery back here in Amsterdam. Massive Music worked on the audio side of things.
The Deployment ident introduces our rock warriors in full, together with their intricate battle flag deployment.

{Introduction}: Hello, my name is Renca Dunn. I am currently a graduate student in International Communication at American University. I have been interacting with many international students and I have seen how much they really contribute to our organizations, community, events, programs, etc. Did you know that we have over 700,000 international students studying at different universities here today in the U.S. ? Considering that, they are really valuable. Now, the purpose of this vlog is to show my appreciation and admiration for every international student that are here. They really share their opinions, perspectives, and rich knowledge. I am truly inspired by them everyday. International students have a lot to offer. I hope that after you watch this vlog, this will inspire you to take the opportunity to get to know them better. Now, this video clip focuses mainly on Deaf international students at Gallaudet University. You will see their stories. Their stories are not from me, but from their own expression of their stories. Film festival

¡Gracias España! Por tantas cosas, pero sobre todo, por hacerme sentir como un niño otra vez. Estas imágenes fueron grabadas durante la celebración del Mundial en la Cafetería Mistic del Arenal en Mallorca, España. La pelicula comienza mostrando detalles de la Portada de este año, que se inspira en edificios representativos de la Ciudad de Sevilla, El diseño de la Portada del 2009, muestra una interpretación basada en la fachada de una caseta de feria, destacando su monumental pañoleta exhornada con motivos sevillanos sustentada por dos grandes pilastras así como por columnas de la arquería de la plaza de toros de Sevilla. Todo ello culminado con remates que portan las tres banderas (Sevilla, Andalucía y España).La Portada de la Feria tiene un peso de 193.000 kilos. Luego sigue con un paseo virtual por las calles del Real, muy temprano, cuando las calles aun estan casi desiertas, y las casetas cerradas, En 1850 se instalan las primeras casetillas para la venta de turrones, buñuelos, juguetes etc. La caseta en la Feria de Abril tiene dos espacios perfectamente diferenciados y separados: - la parte delantera ó noble, que es la que vemos desde la calle y es donde se realiza la convivencia entre los integrantes de la caseta, donde se baila, canta y se suelen colocar las mesas para disfrutar del buen vino fino ó Manzanilla, aunque últimamente -muy a pesar de los puristas- se está imponiendo el "rebujito", bebida refrescante que se bebe en cantidades astronómicas y que nace de la unión entre la Manzanilla de Sanlúcar, el Sprite ó Seven Up y mucho hielo... - la trastienda -parte interior de la caseta- en la que se ubican la cocina, el bar y los servicios WC. Mas tarde, se puede presenciar a los caballos y caballistas, montados y paseando por el Real, A eso del mediodía, las calles del Real se llenan de caballistas y enganches que se convierten en un espectáculo de color. Es una de las reminiscencias de la feria de ganado que fue en su origen. Hoy por hoy es el único modo de desplazarse por el Real de la feria de una forma más cómoda que el simple paseo, despues el paseo de caballos por las calles de piedra de la feria, con los coches de caballos, donde guapas flamencas sevillanas engalanadas con flores, se pasean, guapos galanes coronados por sombreros de ala ancha, caleseras, y trajes tipicos y regionales, como no podian faltar los feriantes, que entre rebujitos,En la Feria de Abril y en la mayoría de las ferias andaluzas, además del típico fino se bebe también Rebujito, es una bebida inventada en un pueblo de Córdoba, Montilla, y que se ha extendido al resto de la comunidad. Es muy refrescante y está muy rico, pero hay que tener cuidado porque se te puede subir a la cabeza. Receta: En una jarra de aproximadamente un litro de capacidad mezcla 7up con manzanilla. Echa primero la manzanilla (aproximadamente un la mitad) y el resto de 7up. Si te gusta más suave echale menos manzanilla. Puedes ir probando el sabor y viendo como te gusta más, echando más o menos manzanilla. Si te gusta más dulce, utiliza en vez de manzanilla, vino fino (te recomiendo un Montilla-Moriles, ya sea un Ximenez o cualquier otra marca). Además el fino es más barato que la manzanilla y a la gente le suele gustar más con Fino porque es más suave. sevillanas, y sevillanos, con tortillas, jamon y lomos de cerdo, disfrutan de una feria excepcional. Bailes por sevillanas, guitarras, folklore andaluz y sevillano....En la ultima parte del video se hace Una visita a la calle del infierno, que es el lugar de la Feria de Abril preferido por los más pequeños. En el se encuentran todas las atracciones, los juegos de azar, puestos de restauración etc. Podríamos definirla como un gran parque de atracciones instalado en el Real. Hoy en día ocupa una superficie de 64.000 metros cuadrados, Tampoco faltarán a la cita obligada las Tómbolas, las Casetas de Tiro y esas otras en las que se pueden disparar tiros a portería o a canastas de baloncesto. El Circo Mundial volverá a ser protagonista de la Feria de Sevilla, serán los payasos, los acróbatas y los animales los encargados de representar una vez más al mayor espectáculo del mundo, que como no iba a ser menos tenía que tener presencia en la Feria de mayor arraigo del planeta, donde se pueden apreciar vistas aereas desde la noria de todo el Real de Feria. Agency: MTV Int. Director: Mischa Rozema Production: PostPanic As part of the re-branding of MTV's 6 international specialist music channels, PostPanic were asked to create all the idents (8 in total) for new channel, MTV Rocks. Director Mischa Rozema developed a central theme and wrote a set of scripts based in an imaginary landscape populated with surreal characters and situations. Shot on location in Northern Spain, the footage was then brought back for some CG trickery back here in Amsterdam. Massive Music worked on the audio side of things. The Deployment ident introduces our rock warriors in full, together with their intricate battle flag deployment.

The origin of the current flag of Spain is the naval ensign of 1785, Pabellón de la Marina de Guerra under Charles III of Spain. It was chosen by Charles III himself among 12 different flags designed by Antonio Valdés y Bazán (all projected flags were presented in a drawing which is in the Naval Museum of Madrid). The flag remained marine for much of the next 50 years, flying over coastal fortresses, marine barracks and other naval property. During the Peninsular War the flag could also be found on marine regiments fighting inland. Not until 1820 was the first Spanish land unit (The La Princesa Regiment) provided with one and it was not until 1843 that Queen Isabella II of Spain would make the flag official.

During the Peninsular War the flag could also be found on marine regiments fighting inland. Not until 1820 was the first Spanish land unit (The La Princesa Regiment) provided with one and it was not until 1843 that Queen Isabella II of Spain would make the flag official.

As part of the re-branding of MTV's 6 international specialist music channels, PostPanic were asked to create all the idents (8 in total) for new channel, MTV Rocks. Director Mischa Rozema developed a central theme and wrote a set of scripts based in an imaginary landscape populated with surreal characters and situations. Shot on location in Northern Spain, the footage was then brought back for some CG trickery back here in Amsterdam. Massive Music worked on the audio side of things.
The Deployment ident introduces our rock warriors in full, together with their intricate battle flag deployment.

Considering that, they are really valuable. Now, the purpose of this vlog is to show my appreciation and admiration for every international student that are here. Estas imágenes fueron grabadas durante la celebración del Mundial en la Cafetería Mistic del Arenal en Mallorca, España. Simplemente no tengo palabras para describir la emoción y la sensación de haber visto como la gente se unió para celebrar una noche tan especial.
Agradecimientos especiales a Pedro y Noelia, a todos los que salieron a la calle a celebrar el mundial y a la Roja por conseguir hacer historia.
La música:
El día anterior a la grabación de este vídeo tuve la oportunidad de asistir al concierto de David Bisbal y oírle cantar la canción "Wavin' Flag" de K'NAAN en medio de una Plaza de Toros llena de banderas españolas, y en ese momento supe que quería hacer algo especial con esta canción.
A medida que editaba el vídeo (e intentaba contener lágrimas de emoción), esta canción no ha parado de sonar en mi mente como la que mejor describe el sentimiento que todos hemos vivido juntos en esta noche tan especial.

These images were filmed during the celebration of the World Cup in the Cafeteria Mistic in Arenal, Mallorca, Spain. I simply don't have words to describe the emotion and feeling of having seen first hands how people from all backgrounds came together to celebrate such a special night.

The previous day I had the pleasure to watch David Bisbal sing the song "Wavin' Flag" from K'NAAN, in a concert in the middle of the Plaza de Toros (bullfighting ring) of Palma de Mallorca, as hundreds of flags were waved, and in that moment I knew I wanted to make something special with this song.
As I edited the video (and tried to hold back tears of emotion), this song kept playing in my head as it described best the feeling we all experienced together on this special night.

En el 2009 se celebra la semana del 28 de abril al 3 de mayo (el 27 por la noche se celebra el tradicional pescaíto). Este video muestra lo que he visto en la Feria de Sevilla, en Abril del año 2009. La pelicula comienza mostrando detalles de la Portada de este año, que se inspira en edificios representativos de la Ciudad de Sevilla, El diseño de la Portada del 2009, muestra una interpretación basada en la fachada de una caseta de feria, destacando su monumental pañoleta exhornada con motivos sevillanos sustentada por dos grandes pilastras así como por columnas de la arquería de la plaza de toros de Sevilla. Todo ello culminado con remates que portan las tres banderas (Sevilla, Andalucía y España).La Portada de la Feria tiene un peso de 193.000 kilos. Luego sigue con un paseo virtual por las calles del Real, muy temprano, cuando las calles aun estan casi desiertas, y las casetas cerradas, En 1850 se instalan las primeras casetillas para la venta de turrones, buñuelos, juguetes etc.
La caseta en la Feria de Abril tiene dos espacios perfectamente diferenciados y separados:
- la parte delantera ó noble, que es la que vemos desde la calle y es donde se realiza la convivencia entre los integrantes de la caseta, donde se baila, canta y se suelen colocar las mesas para disfrutar del buen vino fino ó Manzanilla, aunque últimamente -muy a pesar de los puristas- se está imponiendo el "rebujito", bebida refrescante que se bebe en cantidades astronómicas y que nace de la unión entre la Manzanilla de Sanlúcar, el Sprite ó Seven Up y mucho hielo...
- la trastienda -parte interior de la caseta- en la que se ubican la cocina, el bar y los servicios WC.
Mas tarde, se puede presenciar a los caballos y caballistas, montados y paseando por el Real, A eso del mediodía, las calles del Real se llenan de caballistas y enganches que se convierten en un espectáculo de color. Es una de las reminiscencias de la feria de ganado que fue en su origen. Hoy por hoy es el único modo de desplazarse por el Real de la feria de una forma más cómoda que el simple paseo, despues el paseo de caballos por las calles de piedra de la feria, con los coches de caballos, donde guapas flamencas sevillanas engalanadas con flores, se pasean, guapos galanes coronados por sombreros de ala ancha, caleseras, y trajes tipicos y regionales, como no podian faltar los feriantes, que entre rebujitos,En la Feria de Abril y en la mayoría de las ferias andaluzas, además del típico fino se bebe también Rebujito, es una bebida inventada en un pueblo de Córdoba, Montilla, y que se ha extendido al resto de la comunidad.
Es muy refrescante y está muy rico, pero hay que tener cuidado porque se te puede subir a la cabeza.
Receta:
En una jarra de aproximadamente un litro de capacidad mezcla 7up con manzanilla. Echa primero la manzanilla (aproximadamente un la mitad) y el resto de 7up. Si te gusta más suave echale menos manzanilla. Puedes ir probando el sabor y viendo como te gusta más, echando más o menos manzanilla.
Si te gusta más dulce, utiliza en vez de manzanilla, vino fino (te recomiendo un Montilla-Moriles, ya sea un Ximenez o cualquier otra marca). Además el fino es más barato que la manzanilla y a la gente le suele gustar más con Fino porque es más suave. sevillanas, y sevillanos, con tortillas, jamon y lomos de cerdo, disfrutan de una feria excepcional. Bailes por sevillanas, guitarras, folklore andaluz y sevillano....En la ultima parte del video se hace Una visita a la calle del infierno, que es el lugar de la Feria de Abril preferido por los más pequeños. En el se encuentran todas las atracciones, los juegos de azar, puestos de restauración etc. Podríamos definirla como un gran parque de atracciones instalado en el Real. Hoy en día ocupa una superficie de 64.000 metros cuadrados, Tampoco faltarán a la cita obligada las Tómbolas, las Casetas de Tiro y esas otras en las que se pueden disparar tiros a portería o a canastas de baloncesto.
El Circo Mundial volverá a ser protagonista de la Feria de Sevilla, serán los payasos, los acróbatas y los animales los encargados de representar una vez más al mayor espectáculo del mundo, que como no iba a ser menos tenía que tener presencia en la Feria de mayor arraigo del planeta, donde se pueden apreciar vistas aereas desde la noria de todo el Real de Feria. At the end of the school year, 11 year old Magdalena is informed she is a candidate to become the flag bearer for her school. Through the exploration of her family life, her awakening to puberty and the observation of her environment, Magdalena attempts to find her own identity and the relationship that this has with the collective identity of all Mexicans.

"Deputies, Men of the German Reichstag! A year of events of historical significance is drawing to an end. A year of great decisions lies ahead. In these serious times, I speak to you, deputies of the German Reichstag, as the representatives of the German nation. Beyond and above that, the whole German people should take note of this glance into the past, as well as of the coming decisions the present and future impose upon us.
After the renewed refusal of my peace offer in January 1940 by the then British Prime Minister and the clique which supported or dominated him, it became clear that this war - against all reasons of common sense and necessity - must be fought to its end. You know me, my old Party companions; you know I have always been an enemy of half measures or weak decisions.
If the Providence has so willed that the German people cannot be spared this fight, then I can only be grateful that it entrusted me with the leadership in this historic struggle which, for the next 500 or 1,000 years, will be described as decisive, not only for the history of Germany, but for the whole of Europe and indeed the whole world.
The German people and their soldiers are working and fighting today, not only for the present, but also for the coming, nay the most distant, generations. The Creator has imposed a historical revision on a unique scale upon us.
Shortly after the end of the campaign in Norway, the German Command was forced, first of all, to ensure the military security of the conquered areas. Since then the defences of the conquered countries have changed considerably. From Kirkenes to the Spanish Frontier there is a belt of great bases and fortifications; many airfields have been built, naval bases with protection for submarines, which are practically invulnerable from sea or air.
More than 1,500 new batteries have been planned and constructed. A network of roads and railways was constructed so that today communications from the Spanish Frontier to Petsano are independent of the sea. These installations in no way fall behind those of the Western Wall, and work continues incessantly on strengthening them. I am irrevocably determined to make the European Front unassailable by any enemy.
This defensive work was supplemented by offensive warfare. German surface and underwater naval Forces carried on their constant war of attrition against the British Merchant Navy and the ships in its service. The German Air Force supported these attacks by reconnaissance, by damaging enemy shipping, by numerous retaliatory raids which have given the English a better idea of the ‘ ever so charming ’ war caused by their present Prime Minister.
In the middle of last year Germany was supported above all by Italy. For many months a great part of British power weighed heavily on the shoulders of Italy. Only because of their tremendous superiority in heavy tanks could the English create a temporary crisis in North Africa. On 24th March a small community of German-Italian units under Rommel's command began the counter-attack.
The German Africa Corps performed outstanding achievements though they were completely unaccustomed to the climate of this theatre of war. Just as once in Spain, now in North Africa Germans and Italians have taken up arms against the same enemy.
While with these bold measures the North African Front was again secured by the blood of German and Italian soldiers, the shadow of a terrible danger threatening Europe gathered overhead. Only in obedience of bitter necessity did I decide in my heart in 1939, to make the attempt, or at least, to create the prerequisites for a lasting peace in Europe by eliminating the causes of German-Russian tension.
This was psychologically difficult owing to the general attitude of the German people, and above all, of the party, towards Bolshevism. It was not difficult from a purely material point of view - because Germany was only intent on her economic interests in all the territories which England declared to be threatened by us and which she attacked with her promises of aid- for you will allow me to remind you that England, throughout the spring and late summer of 1939, offered its aid to numerous countries, declaring that it was our intention to invade those countries and thus deprive them of their liberty.
The German Reich and its Government were therefore able to affirm, with a clear conscience, that these allegations were false and had no bearing whatsoever on reality. Add to this the military realization that in the case of war, which British diplomacy was to force on the German people, a two front war would ensue and call for very great sacrifice.
When, on top of all this, the Baltic States and Rumania showed themselves prone to accept the British Pacts of assistance, and thus let it be seen

Director: Mischa Rozema Production: PostPanic As part of the re-branding of MTV's 6 international specialist music channels, PostPanic were asked to create all the idents (8 in total) for new channel, MTV Rocks. Director Mischa Rozema developed a central theme and wrote a set of scripts based in an imaginary landscape populated with surreal characters and situations. Shot on location in Northern Spain, the footage was then brought back for some CG trickery back here in Amsterdam. Massive Music worked on the audio side of things. The Deployment ident introduces our rock warriors in full, together with their intricate battle flag deployment.

This video focuses on Deaf international students at Gallaudet University. The Deaf international student share their stories and experiences briefly about the academic and social integration with U.S. students. The goal is to inspire others to get to know the Deaf international students better and take the opportunity to learn from them. After all, every international student has a story behind their journey here.

{Introduction}: Hello, my name is Renca Dunn. I am currently a graduate student in International Communication at American University. I have been interacting with many international students and I have seen how much they really contribute to our organizations, community, events, programs, etc. Did you know that we have over 700,000 international students studying at different universities here today in the U.S. ? Considering that, they are really valuable. Now, the purpose of this vlog is to show my appreciation and admiration for every international student that are here. They really share their opinions, perspectives, and rich knowledge. I am truly inspired by them everyday. International students have a lot to offer. I hope that after you watch this vlog, this will inspire you to take the opportunity to get to know them better. Now, this video clip focuses mainly on Deaf international students at Gallaudet University. You will see their stories. Their stories are not from me, but from their own expression of their stories. Estas imágenes fueron grabadas durante la celebración del Mundial en la Cafetería Mistic del Arenal en Mallorca, España. Simplemente no tengo palabras para describir la emoción y la sensación de haber visto como la gente se unió para celebrar una noche tan especial.
Agradecimientos especiales a Pedro y Noelia, a todos los que salieron a la calle a celebrar el mundial y a la Roja por conseguir hacer historia.

El día anterior a la grabación de este vídeo tuve la oportunidad de asistir al concierto de David Bisbal y oírle cantar la canción "Wavin' Flag" de K'NAAN en medio de una Plaza de Toros llena de banderas españolas, y en ese momento supe que quería hacer algo especial con esta canción.
A medida que editaba el vídeo (e intentaba contener lágrimas de emoción), esta canción no ha parado de sonar en mi mente como la que mejor describe el sentimiento que todos hemos vivido juntos en esta noche tan especial.

En el 2009 se celebra la semana del 28 de abril al 3 de mayo (el 27 por la noche se celebra el tradicional pescaíto). Este video muestra lo que he visto en la F...
En el 2009 se celebra la semana del 28 de abril al 3 de mayo (el 27 por la noche se celebra el tradicional pescaíto). Este video muestra lo que he visto en la Feria de Sevilla, en Abril del año 2009. La pelicula comienza mostrando detalles de la Portada de este año, que se inspira en edificios representativos de la Ciudad de Sevilla, El diseño de la Portada del 2009, muestra una interpretación basada en la fachada de una caseta de feria, destacando su monumental pañoleta exhornada con motivos sevillanos sustentada por dos grandes pilastras así como por columnas de la arquería de la plaza de toros de Sevilla. Todo ello culminado con remates que portan las tres banderas (Sevilla, Andalucía y España).La Portada de la Feria tiene un peso de 193.000 kilos. Luego sigue con un paseo virtual por las calles del Real, muy temprano, cuando las calles aun estan casi desiertas, y las casetas cerradas, En 1850 se instalan las primeras casetillas para la venta de turrones, buñuelos, juguetes etc.
La caseta en la Feria de Abril tiene dos espacios perfectamente diferenciados y separados:
- la parte delantera ó noble, que es la que vemos desde la calle y es donde se realiza la convivencia entre los integrantes de la caseta, donde se baila, canta y se suelen colocar las mesas para disfrutar del buen vino fino ó Manzanilla, aunque últimamente -muy a pesar de los puristas- se está imponiendo el "rebujito", bebida refrescante que se bebe en cantidades astronómicas y que nace de la unión entre la Manzanilla de Sanlúcar, el Sprite ó Seven Up y mucho hielo...
- la trastienda -parte interior de la caseta- en la que se ubican la cocina, el bar y los servicios WC.
Mas tarde, se puede presenciar a los caballos y caballistas, montados y paseando por el Real, A eso del mediodía, las calles del Real se llenan de caballistas y enganches que se convierten en un espectáculo de color. Es una de las reminiscencias de la feria de ganado que fue en su origen. Hoy por hoy es el único modo de desplazarse por el Real de la feria de una forma más cómoda que el simple paseo, despues el paseo de caballos por las calles de piedra de la feria, con los coches de caballos, donde guapas flamencas sevillanas engalanadas con flores, se pasean, guapos galanes coronados por sombreros de ala ancha, caleseras, y trajes tipicos y regionales, como no podian faltar los feriantes, que entre rebujitos,En la Feria de Abril y en la mayoría de las ferias andaluzas, además del típico fino se bebe también Rebujito, es una bebida inventada en un pueblo de Córdoba, Montilla, y que se ha extendido al resto de la comunidad.
Es muy refrescante y está muy rico, pero hay que tener cuidado porque se te puede subir a la cabeza.
Receta:
En una jarra de aproximadamente un litro de capacidad mezcla 7up con manzanilla. Echa primero la manzanilla (aproximadamente un la mitad) y el resto de 7up. Si te gusta más suave echale menos manzanilla. Puedes ir probando el sabor y viendo como te gusta más, echando más o menos manzanilla.
Si te gusta más dulce, utiliza en vez de manzanilla, vino fino (te recomiendo un Montilla-Moriles, ya sea un Ximenez o cualquier otra marca). Además el fino es más barato que la manzanilla y a la gente le suele gustar más con Fino porque es más suave. sevillanas, y sevillanos, con tortillas, jamon y lomos de cerdo, disfrutan de una feria excepcional. Bailes por sevillanas, guitarras, folklore andaluz y sevillano....En la ultima parte del video se hace Una visita a la calle del infierno, que es el lugar de la Feria de Abril preferido por los más pequeños. En el se encuentran todas las atracciones, los juegos de azar, puestos de restauración etc. Podríamos definirla como un gran parque de atracciones instalado en el Real. Hoy en día ocupa una superficie de 64.000 metros cuadrados, Tampoco faltarán a la cita obligada las Tómbolas, las Casetas de Tiro y esas otras en las que se pueden disparar tiros a portería o a canastas de baloncesto.
El Circo Mundial volverá a ser protagonista de la Feria de Sevilla, serán los payasos, los acróbatas y los animales los encargados de representar una vez más al mayor espectáculo del mundo, que como no iba a ser menos tenía que tener presencia en la Feria de mayor arraigo del planeta, donde se pueden apreciar vistas aereas desde la noria de todo el Real de Feria. Todo acompañado con las mejores sevillanas de todos los tiempos. Y es que Sevilla es Impresionante. Imagenes tomadas con camara Optio 45 Pentax. Viva Andalucia Libre!!

"Deputies, Men of the German Reichstag! A year of events of historical significance is drawing to an end. A year of great decisions lies ahead. In these serious times, I speak to you, deputies of the German Reichstag, as the representatives of the German nation. Beyond and above that, the whole German people should take note of this glance into the past, as well as of the coming decisions the present and future impose upon us.
After the renewed refusal of my peace offer in January 1940 by the then British Prime Minister and the clique which supported or dominated him, it became clear that this war - against all reasons of common sense and necessity - must be fought to its end. You know me, my old Party companions; you know I have always been an enemy of half measures or weak decisions.
If the Providence has so willed that the German people cannot be spared this fight, then I can only be grateful that it entrusted me with the leadership in this historic struggle which, for the next 500 or 1,000 years, will be described as decisive, not only for the history of Germany, but for the whole of Europe and indeed the whole world.
The German people and their soldiers are working and fighting today, not only for the present, but also for the coming, nay the most distant, generations. The Creator has imposed a historical revision on a unique scale upon us.
Shortly after the end of the campaign in Norway, the German Command was forced, first of all, to ensure the military security of the conquered areas. Since then the defences of the conquered countries have changed considerably. From Kirkenes to the Spanish Frontier there is a belt of great bases and fortifications; many airfields have been built, naval bases with protection for submarines, which are practically invulnerable from sea or air.
More than 1,500 new batteries have been planned and constructed. A network of roads and railways was constructed so that today communications from the Spanish Frontier to Petsano are independent of the sea. These installations in no way fall behind those of the Western Wall, and work continues incessantly on strengthening them. I am irrevocably determined to make the European Front unassailable by any enemy.
This defensive work was supplemented by offensive warfare. German surface and underwater naval Forces carried on their constant war of attrition against the British Merchant Navy and the ships in its service. The German Air Force supported these attacks by reconnaissance, by damaging enemy shipping, by numerous retaliatory raids which have given the English a better idea of the ‘ ever so charming ’ war caused by their present Prime Minister.
In the middle of last year Germany was supported above all by Italy. For many months a great part of British power weighed heavily on the shoulders of Italy. Only because of their tremendous superiority in heavy tanks could the English create a temporary crisis in North Africa. On 24th March a small community of German-Italian units under Rommel's command began the counter-attack.
The German Africa Corps performed outstanding achievements though they were completely unaccustomed to the climate of this theatre of war. Just as once in Spain, now in North Africa Germans and Italians have taken up arms against the same enemy.
While with these bold measures the North African Front was again secured by the blood of German and Italian soldiers, the shadow of a terrible danger threatening Europe gathered overhead. Only in obedience of bitter necessity did I decide in my heart in 1939, to make the attempt, or at least, to create the prerequisites for a lasting peace in Europe by eliminating the causes of German-Russian tension.
This was psychologically difficult owing to the general attitude of the German people, and above all, of the party, towards Bolshevism. It was not difficult from a purely material point of view - because Germany was only intent on her economic interests in all the territories which England declared to be threatened by us and which she attacked with her promises of aid- for you will allow me to remind you that England, throughout the spring and late summer of 1939, offered its aid to numerous countries, declaring that it was our intention to invade those countries and thus deprive them of their liberty.
The German Reich and its Government were therefore able to affirm, with a clear conscience, that these allegations were false and had no bearing whatsoever on reality. Add to this the military realization that in the case of war, which British diplomacy was to force on the German people, a two front war would ensue and call for very great sacrifice.
When, on top of all this, the Baltic States and Rumania showed themselves prone to accept the British Pacts of assistance, and thus let it be seen
