Patrol car camera captured a gunman firing toward officers on a South Seattle street New Year's Eve. Seattle Shooting 12/31/2014 (Seattle Police) Patrol car cameras were rolling New Year’s Eve after a gunman fired toward officers on a South Seattle street. The shooting came minutes after police responded, for the second time New Year’s Eve, to a report of a domestic violence incident at a home in the 4200 block of S. Eddy Street. Officers were first called to the home shortly after 10 PM after receiving a report of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. Officers investigated the incident and left the scene to complete their report. A short time later, around 10:30 PM, police returned to the home after receiving a second 911 call from the victim, who said the suspect had kicked a door and was making threats. By 10:35, officers were interviewing the suspect as he sat on the hood of a patrol car parked on S. Eddy Street. This is where video of the incident begins In the video, officers are seen speaking with the domestic violence suspect as, off-camera, one vehicle pulled up rapidly behind the officer’s patrol car and another vehicle stopped farther down the block. Officers heard gunfire and quickly took cover behind the patrol car, shielded the domestic violence suspect, and returned fire. Police believe the gunman’s car then pulled away. No one was injured in the incident. Three officers involved in the incident are on paid administrative leave, per standard department policy. The officers include a nine-year veteran with the department, a five-year veteran, and another experienced officer, who was serving his first day on patrol in Seattle after transferring from another police agency out-of-state. SPD’s Force Investigations Team will continue to investigate the shooting as homicide detectives search for the gunman. The department will release more details about this incident as information becomes available. Billings Police Department officer Grant Morrison was overcome with emotion after the deadly shooting of an unarmed Montana man in April, which can be seen in a newly released video from moments after the shooting. Video of the April 14 incident was shown as part of the inquest into the death of Richard Ramirez, which was ruled on Jan. 7 as a noncriminal, justifiable homicide. Morrison shot Ramirez, a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop who was later found to be unarmed. Morrison said he was afraid that Ramirez was reaching for a gun; the video shows him weeping on a police car after the shooting. "It’s the hardest decision I've ever had to make," Morrison said during his testimony, according to the Billings Gazette. "I wish I didn't have to make it. Marilyn Mosby Charges 6 Baltimore Police Officers in Death of Freddie Gray

Maryland State Attorney for the city of Baltimore Marilyn Mosby announced on Friday morning that Freddie Gray‘s death in police custody was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, and that there is sufficient probable cause to file criminal charges against the six officers involved. The six Baltimore police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray will now face criminal charges ranging from murder to manslaughter to assault. The driver of the police van was charged with second-degree murder, while three officers were charged with involuntary manslaughter. A girl who recorded video of a Texas police officer's violent clash with teens outside a pool party said police were only targeting minorities, reports Dallas-Fort Worth station KTVT's Brian New. When other teenagers tried to intervene, the officer pulled out his gun. "I felt like he was actually getting ready to hurt someone," Bakari said. The girl on the ground begged for help, saying in the video, "Call my momma! Call my momma! Oh God." The officer then dragged the girl, who was apparently trying to tell the officer she was doing nothing wrong, across the grass. "They were trying to make us leave, but if we ran, they'd chase after us, and if we stayed, then they'd arrest us," Bakari said. Earlier, the officer could be seen chasing boys and cursing as he forced them to the ground. "Don't make me f---ing run around here with 30 pounds of goddamned gear on in the sun, because you want to screw around out here," he said in the video. The officer is now on leave and his conduct is under investigation. "Any time you confront a large group of people, it's a very dynamic situation, you know, and tensions can rise very quickly," McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley said. The officers were summoned after a fight between the party's teenage host and an adult woman at the pool. There were also complaints some of the teens didn't have permission to be there. "I wouldn't want that to be my daughter, no doubt about that, but I mean, at that point, when you got other people running around there, he's probably just trying to get the situation done -- just like anyone else would," witness Sean Toon said. Bakari said she lives nearby and has a pool pass and so did many of her friends. "They were acting like we were criminals," she said. "We were just there for a pool party." "I honestly believe it was about race because mostly they did nothing to the Caucasians," 13-year-old Jahda Bakari said. Twelve officers responded to a disturbance call at a community pool in McKinney, Texas, where teenagers were celebrating the end of the school year. Most of the residents in the Dallas suburb are white, but many of the teen partygoers were black. In the video, which has been viewed more than 2.5 million times online, one officer can be seen dragging a young girl, clad only in a bikini, to the ground. COPS CRASH POOL PARTY A fight between a mom and a girl broke out and when the cops showed up everyone ran, including the people who didn't do anything. So the cops just started putting everyone on the ground and in handcuffs for no reason. This kind of force is uncalled for especially on children and innocent bystanders. -EDIT- To some people saying that the cop pulled out his taser on the kid, it was not a taser it was a gun.

The incident, which has sparked some anger online, was recorded by Chaedria LaBouvier and saw five officers straddling and handcuffing the man despite his visible prosthetic leg. At one point in the 11-minute clip officers are seen pinning down his head and sitting on the leg. The man can be heard asking to let go. His trousers also fall down at one point only to be pulled up by an officer a few minutes later. The captain of the local police precinct, Teresa Ewins said they were called by a concerned member of the public about a man who seemed mentally unstable and was waving sticks in the air. When officers arrived and told him to put the sticks down he refused and raised the "sticks above his head in a threatening manner" before attempting to step into oncoming traffic. She said: "Due to his state of mind at the time, officer’s believed he was in an Altered Mental State and fit the criteria for a Mental Health Detention. They determined he was a danger to himself and others. "As officer’s attempted to place the subject into handcuffs he pulled his arms away. As he was resisting officer’s the subject fell forward. The officers still having their hands on him allowed his body weight to take him to the ground while attempting to control him." Captain Ewins also said the man tried to bite officers as they restrained him and was taken to hospital under a mental health detainment order.

The officers worked for the East Point Police Department, which is southwest of downtown Atlanta. Marcus Eberhart and Howard Weems Jr. were indicted on charges of murder, manslaughter and violation of oath by a public officer in the death of 24-year-old Gregory Lewis Towns Jr. Police responded to an apartment complex in Atlanta after reports of a domestic dispute involving Towns. Police said when officers arrived, Towns ran into the woods but did not get very far. Records show police found Towns, who weighed 281 lbs., sitting on the ground and catching his breath, after a chase of less than a mile, and he asked officers at least 10 times to be allowed to rest before going with them. After being handcuffed, police are accused of repeatedly using the Taser on him. According to the suit and logs from the Tasers, the devices were activated 14 times over the following 29 minutes with the two officers pressing the electrified prongs against Towns' skin. "I feel sad. I feel real sad because I know he won't be coming back no more," his grandmother, Hattie Fullwood, said. "It's been very, very hard," Fullwood added. "They just kept tasing him and tasing him and tasing him until he fell." The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. One of the officers resigned from East Point police, while the other was fired following an investigation into the incident. Towns' death brought about sweeping changes to the department's taser training program.

Cincinnati police officers' message goes viral

CINCINNATI (Angela Ingram) -- A simple gesture between co-workers has been shared thousands of times across the country. Sergeant Jimmy Perkins and Sergeant Terrance Sherman have known each other for years. One night during a shift change, another officer snapped a photo of the men that sent a powerful message. And it was one of those things where hey, your life matters. Hey, be safe tonight, said Perkins. Safety is a very real subject for the officers. They never know who or what they will encounter on the job. Both work in Cincinnatis District 3 which includes neighborhoods like South Cumminsville, Price Hill, and North Fairmount. Since the picture hit Facebook, its been repeatedly shared. Both were surprised at how quickly the photo went viral. Similar versions have popped-up in Texas, Baltimore, and Memphis. The officers say people have varying interpretations of the photo, but they just wanted to do something positive. Perkins said, We werent down-playing any sort of progressive movement thats going on across the country. This was intended for our Facebook family. Thats all it was intended to do. Sherman added, Social media is used for posting pictures, saying what you feel and this was one of those times where we wanted to post something positive. BARNSTABLE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police rescued a dog in distress after two men allegedly left the dog in a car while they were out drinking. Officers responded to the Tap City Grill on Main Street just past 12:30 a.m. early Monday morning. The officers had received a report that two men, 29-year-old Justin Wagner and 27-year-old Matthew Bernier, were drunk and refusing to leave. Officers credit Zachary Hamilton, a bartender from Tap City Grill, who called 911 after the men entered the bar acting foolishly. "Started calling everyone some not so nice names. Really offensive stuff," Hamilton said. "Started calling me the bartender and all the customer some other names." Police say Wagner and Bernier then decided to take a cab to Falmouth. Just past 1 a.m., Wagner and Bernier called police to report that their truck had been stolen. When officers arrived, they say the two suspects were intoxicated and that Bernier was "belligerent and uncooperative." After an investigation, police say it was determined that the truck had not been stolen, but Wagner and Bernier had forgotten where they parked it. Police say they soon discovered that the two men had left a puppy in their car while they went drinking. The puppy was left in the vehicle at 5 p.m. on Sunday and was not taken out until 3 a.m. on Monday morning. Officials say the windows weren't open and the dog was in distress. The German Shepherd puppy was in a homemade kennel that consisted of a box and a blue tarp in the truck cab. Officers gave the puppy several bottles of water and cared for her in the police station until the morning. The puppy was nicknamed "Midnight" by officers. Wagner and Bernier were charged with animal cruelty and "Midnight" was turned over to animal control.

Trial date was February 7th, 2014. No one had provided me a with a copy of the 2013 Waterway Marker Application Permit [Form 8700-058 (R11/06)] which enforced the buoy to prohibit boaters from that inlet. The Paddle Boat Rental people were a non-issue. The police didn't bother to get the permit to restrict the area, they were under the assumption the buoy by itself was enforceable. The prosecutor made me the offer to reduce the fine again. I refused it. He then took me into the hallway to speak off the record. Wanted to know if I was showing the video or not. I wasn't. He saw the pack of papers I had in my hand and got concerned about it going to trial. Once I began to show the prosecutor, via emails, letters and a 2014 Waterway Marker Application Permit [Form 8700-058 (R11/06)], that no one from Summerfest to the Harbor Commission has requested the area to be restricted. And that Wisconsin statute 30.10 and the Public Trust Doctrine protect my right to use the waterway. He then took the officer out into the hallway. Then came back in and showed me the photos the officer took of the scene. He pointed to a photo showing a sign Summerfest had up saying the area was restricted. I ask why the sign didn't have the permit number at the bottom of it to prove it was enforceable. Anyone can make a do not enter sign. Then the prosecutor ask to meet with the Judge in his chamber and brought me with. So I entered the lion's den and we had a long talk. I explained that Sgt Bell had written a letter to the DNR Warden admitting "The legal basis for enforcing violations of the restriction is questionable." Included with the letter was the 18 July 2013 application by Sgt Bell for a Waterway Marker Application Permit [Form 8700-058 (R11/06)]. That led me to believe there is no 2013 permit. The prosecutor blamed the pretrial DA with the pierced nose for not making me a "Hold Open Disposition." Then in front of the Judge he offered it to me and the Judge said he's not supposed to hear that, but it sounds like a good offer. If it were a Hollywood movie, I would have said hell no and walked back out into the court room to win and the seats would have been packed with people from the community supporting my decision to fight and carry on. In reality, I was in the lion's den which is not common to be invited inside. The lion and the tiger offered me a chance to leave without taking a bite as long as I refrain from anymore pirating activities for the next six months, the "Hold Open Disposition." I took it, cause that is a win for me and a win for the court. This whole thing was a misunderstanding. The rules have been well defined now. ***To anyone who has anything negative against these police officers in the video*** Let me be clear, my father was a Milwaukee Police Officer for 32 years. He raised me, the guy you are trying to champion against the cops. I am a 15 year veteran of the United States military and former Special Forces operator. The us against them approach is counterproductive. Officers need to be presented with the facts if they are wrong, that is what I did in court. The prosecutor explained to me these officers names have been place on some internet kill lists. I have never heard of that before, but it disturbs me. If anyone reading this has done so, retract your action. Educating people is the only way to make a real difference in society. I personally, detest that behavior or anyone leaving comments calling these cops derogatory names. If you want real change, work towards it in a smarter and safer way. As to the legality of the last 20 years of tickets issued to other boaters, that's for the local news to figure out.
