I specialise in photographing people, capturing authentic and natural images that capture you in the best light.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I went to uni to be a science fiction illustrator. Then I discovered photography and everything changed. I'm a much better photographer than I am a painter.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. I love travelling to new places and finding lovely locations to stage shoots in.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

How much experience does the photographer have? Ask to see samples of complete weddings, as delivered. Not just the best ten or twenty shots. Can the photographer shoot with a consistently high level of quality throughout the day? What research and preparation is done in advance of the shoot? Do I have access to all of my photos?

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have over two decades of experience shooting creative portraiture, advertising and wedding photography. I have a skill set that can adapt to any situation. I hold a Higher Diploma in Visual Communication.

What makes your pricing competitive?

I listen to your brief and only quote pricing for what you actually want and need. There are no hidden extras. You have complete flexibility as well as access to all your photos.

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?

I'm pleased to offer a 10% discount to all customers who book for wedding or portrait shoots before August 30th 2015. We don't have to do the shoot before then, you just need to pay your 30% deposit.

Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I carry Public Liability Insurance up to $10,000,000. All work is guaranteed. Albums are handmade in New Zealand and will last a lifetime. We will have discussed all the details for your shoot in advance so there are no surprises on the day.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Ask yourself what is most important to you and what you hope to achieve on your wedding day? Your photographs will be the only tangible thing you'll have from your wedding day except for each other. Confirm with vendors exactly what you're being charged for. I've seen situations where a couple has bought kegs of beer for their guests but the staff never offered it, as they make more money by offering the house wine.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

I need to know your wedding date and the locations for your ceremony and reception. A rough estimate of the number of guests is also helpful. I offer a range of services, from shooting and supplying images on disc to full retouching, prints and albums. You only pay for what you need.

What questions do customers most commonly ask you and what is your answer?

Q: Do I have complete access to my high res photos? A: Yes, it's you special day and I believe you should have your photos. Q: How long till I get my photos? A: One to two weeks depending on your needs.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I can quote an hourly rate for you and deliver your photos colour corrected on a USB drive. It's a great option if you're on a budget. If you'd like to consider including retouching or an album I suggest meeting up for a coffee to discuss everything before I offer a quote.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

We interviewed five different photographers and studios to shoot our wedding and chose Brendan - we never looked back after that. From the off he had some expert tips on lighting that really made a huge difference to the venue, ambiance and photos. The schedule was long and taxing with a few full days of ceremonies - throughout he was reliable and punctual, making himself and his assistants available beyond the call of duty to ensure that he got the shots we wanted. What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I'm a very experienced photographer and I take the work seriously. Wedding and family photography grows in value as time passes while commercial work loses it's value quickly. I care deeply about the images we make together and think about what they'll mean to you in twenty years time.
