Plot
Joe Lombardi -- a twenty-something man-child -- wants nothing more than to break away from his mundane suburban life and job at a local New Jersey newspaper. His editor, Mr. Simon, promises Joe a promotion to a big-time New York City paper if he writes one last, home-run article -- on the Jersey Shore dating scene. But Joe hasn't been down there since he was a kid, with his now-estranged mother; and he has a general disdain for the Jersey Shore culture. He reluctantly takes on the story and is writing about Danny, his best friend who believes that he can meet a wife in the clubs; Marc, a nerdy guy from high school who has now transformed himself into a club going, drug using, fornicator and Ashley, his boss's wild niece, who secretly aspires to a life as a fashion designer. Eventually, writing about these quirky characters opens Joe's eyes, forcing him to truly understand all that the area has to offer and making him re-evaluate his own life... and grow up.

Plot
A family seen at two different periods, some 40 years having passed between the two. A dysfunctional family marked by what used to be called an ugly illness, cancer and death. The characters quarrel, hate each other, and refuse to accept in their predecessors what they will eventually, inevitably repeat in themselves. A family marked by relations of rejection, love and hate of the other, the upstairs neighbors, those strangers from a far-off land, Andalusia in the 1960s, Morocco at present, who will also form part of this repetitive game that is life. To what point is everything a metaphor or symbol of our society? Are we really strangers to ourselves?

Toute societe a les crimes qu'elle merite.
Well, did you find out when it was over, kid?
Well, did you find out like your mother did?
Did it fall apart before it all began?
Before they could find out your name
Well, you're tired of feelin' the same
Like a bubble stuck in your vein
There's so much more for you to say
There's so many poor souls for you to claim
You're still stuck between the green grass
And forty million miles from the sun
Was she driving too fast when the turn came in?
Did you think about all that could have been?
Did you realize or did it come too soon?
Before they could find out your name
Like a white thorn stuck in your brain
Like a bubble stuck in your vein
There's so much more for you to see
There's so much more for you to be
You're still stuck between the green grass
