Trousers

Trousers (pants in North America) are an item of clothing worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately (rather than with cloth extending across both legs as in robes, skirts, and dresses).

In the UK the word "pants" generally means underwear and not trousers.Shorts are similar to trousers, but with legs that come down only to around the area of the knee, higher or lower depending on the style of the garment. To distinguish them from shorts, trousers may be called "long trousers" in certain contexts such as school uniform, where tailored shorts may be called "short trousers", especially in the UK.

In most of the Western world, trousers have been worn since ancient times and throughout the Medieval period, becoming the most common form of lower-body clothing for adult males in the modern world, although shorts are also widely worn, and kilts and other garments may be worn in various regions and cultures. Breeches were worn instead of trousers in early modern Europe by some men in higher classes of society. Since the mid-20th century, trousers have increasingly been worn by women as well. Jeans, made of denim, are a form of trousers for casual wear, now widely worn all over the world by both sexes. Shorts are often preferred in hot weather or for some sports and also often by children and teenagers. Trousers are worn on the hips or waist and may be held up by their own fastenings, a belt or suspenders (braces). Leggings are form-fitting trousers, of a clingy material, often knitted cotton and spandex (elastane).

Garuda Purana

The Garuda Purana is one of the eighteen Puranas which are part of the Hindu body of texts known as smriti. It is a Vaishnava purana; the epic is in the form of a conversation between Lord Vishnu and Garuda (King of Birds), primarily emphasizing the reason and meaning of human life. It contains details of life after death, funeral rites and the metaphysics of reincarnation, and therefore is recited as a part Antyesti (Antim Sanskar) or funeral rites (funeral liturgy) in Hinduism. The Padma Purana categorizes the Garuda Purana as a Sattva Purana (a purana which represents goodness and purity). The epic purana, which is considered to have been edited into its current form by Veda Vyāsa, speaks of different incarnations of Lord Vishnu, geographical description, origin of the universe, creation, procreation, genealogy of the gods and the journey of a soul after death. The Garuda Purana also talks about the origin and propagation of Garuda himself and describes different kinds of austerities, methods of worship, atonement for sin and divine & sacred mantras.

Purana Mandir

Purana Mandir (Hindi for The Old Temple) is a 1984 Hindi feature film, produced and directed by the Ramsay brothers. It is a horror film chronicling the story of the monster-demon, Samri. The Soundtrack were composed by Ajit Singh.

Plot

The film opens with a scene taking place some 200 years ago, with the royal procession of Raja Harimansingh of the sultanate of Bijapur, stranded near the Kali Pahari (literally, black mountain). The Raja is concerned because his daughter Princess Rupali has disappeared near the lair of the devil-worshipper Samri (Anirudh Agarwal). The princess wanders into the ruins of an old fortress and is promptly captured and tortured by the villainous Samri. His trademark attack is mesmerizing the hapless victim apparently sucking out their life force through the eyes, causing their natural eyes to be replaced with demonic white shades. During this process, Samri's eyes gleam blood red. Raja Harimansingh catches Samri in this terrible act and orders the soldiers to capture him.

Ranvir Singh

Ranvir Singh (born 28 May 1977) is an English television presenter and journalist, best known for her presenting roles on the ITV Breakfast programmes Daybreak (2012–2014) and Good Morning Britain (2014–present).

Singh occasionally presents the ITV News bulletins, acting as a stand-in presenter and since 2015, she has presented Real Stories with Ranvir Singh, her own primetime factual series for ITV.

Early life

Singh was born in 1977 in Preston, Lancashire into a Sikh family. Educated at Kirkham Grammar School, an independent school in Kirkham, Lancashire, she graduated from the University of Lancaster with a degree in English and Philosophy. She then gained a postgraduate qualification in journalism at the school of Journalism, Media and Communication, University of Central Lancashire in Preston.

Career

Singh joined BBC Radio Lancashire in 2002, initially on work experience before being given a six-month contract. She then moved to BBC GMR, covering the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

The movie story is about Suman who lives a wealthy lifestyle along with her widower dad, Thakur Ranvir Singh, and an unmarried aunt, Damyanti, in a palatial house in Bombay. They are direct descendants of Raja Hariman Singh of Bijapur. When Ranvir finds out that Suman is in love with a middle-classed male, Sanjay, he expresses displeasure and forbids her to ever see him again. When she persists, he tells her that there is a curse on the entire family - a curse that was inflicted 200 years ago by a blood-thirsty, flesh-eating demon named Samri. This curse impacts only women in their family, who are hideously transformed after giving birth to their firstborn, and die a painful death. Treating this as mere superstitious, Suman and Sanjay, along with Sanjay's friend, Anand and his wife, Sapna, set out to Bijapur to unearth and put an end to this rumor - not knowing that soon they will resurrect a virtually indestructible Samri - who is out to kill the remainder of the Singh family before wrecking havoc on the region

Thakur Ranvir Singh's daughter Suman (Aarti Gupta) is a college student and spends most of her time with her boyfriend Sanjay (Mohnish Behl). When the Thakur learns about their relationship, he disapproves because Sanjay is not of royal birth. Though the real reason is that any man who marries Suman must endure her inevitable death when their child arrives. How Suman and Sanjay overcome a series of tumultuous events, the opposition of her father and the effect of Samri's curse, form the rest of the story. ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ପୁରାଣ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ସାହିତ୍ୟର ପଞ୍ଚସଖା (ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ଦାସ, ଅଚ୍ୟୁତାନନ୍ଦ ଦାସ, ବଳରାମ ଦାସ, ଅନନ୍ତ ଦାସ, ଯଶୋବନ୍ତ ଦାସ)ଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠ କବି ବଳରାମ ଦାସଙ୍କ ଦ୍ଵାରା ପଞ୍ଚଦଶ ଶତାବ୍ଦୀରେ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷାରେ ଲେଖା ଏକ ସାହିତ୍ୟିକ ପୁରାଣ କୃତି ।ଏହା ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଘରେ ଘରେ ମାଣବସା ଗୁରୁବାର ନାମରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଖ୍ୟାତ । ମାର୍ଗଶୀର ମାସର ଗୁରୁବାର ଦିନ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ପ୍ରତି ଘରେ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀପୂଜା ବା ମାଣବସା ଗୁରୁବାର ପାଳିତ ହୁଏ ।ମାର୍ଗଶୀର ମାସର ଏକ ଗୁରୁବାର ଦିନ ଶ୍ରୀୟା ଚଣ୍ଡାଳୁଣୀ ନାମକ ଏକ ଅଚ୍ଛବର ଭକ୍ତିରେ ପ୍ରୀତ ହୋଇ ଦେବୀ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ତା ଘରେ ପହଞ୍ଚିଲେ । ଦେବୀ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କ ଏଭଳି ଆଚରଣରେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ବଳରାମ କ୍ରୋଧାନ୍ଵିତ ହୋଇ ଦେବୀଙ୍କୁ ଘରୁ ବାହାର କରିଦେବାକୁ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ । ଦେବୀ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ଏଥିରେ ମର୍ମାହତ ହୋଇ ଶ୍ରୀମନ୍ଦିର ଛାଡି ଚାଲିଗଲେ । ହେଲେ ଦେବୀଙ୍କ କ୍ରୋଧ ଫଳରେ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ଓ ବଳରାମ ଦୁଇ ଭାଇ ଖାଇବାକୁ ନ ପାଇ ଦୁଆର ଦୁଆର ବୁଲି ବିବିଧ ପ୍ରକାରେ ଅପମାନିତ ହେଲେ । ପରିଶେଷରେ ଦୁଇ ଭାଇ ନିଜର ଭୁଲ ବୁଝିପାରିଲେ ଏବଂ ଦୁଇ ଠାକୁରଙ୍କ ଅନୁରୋଧକ୍ରମେ ମା ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ଶ୍ରୀମନ୍ଦିରକୁ ଫେରିଆସିଲେ । ଏହା ହିଁ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ପୁରାଣର ମୁଖ୍ୟ ବିଷୟ ବସ୍ତୁ । ନାରଦ ମୁନିଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନର ଉତ୍ତରରେ ପରାଶର ଋଷି ନାରଦଙ୍କୁ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ପୂଜାର ମାହାତ୍ମ୍ୟ ବୁଝାଇଛନ୍ତି । ମାଣବସା ଗୁରୁବାର ଓଷା (ମାଣବସା ଓ ମାଣ ଓଷା ନାମରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଜଣା)ରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ପାଳିତ ଏକ କୃଷିଭିତ୍ତିକ ପର୍ବ । ଏହି ପର୍ବରେ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କୁ ଗୃହରେ ଧନଧାନ୍ୟ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ନିମନ୍ତେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପୂଜା କରାଯାଏ । ଏହି ସମୟରେ ଧନଧାନ୍ୟ, ବାତ୍ସଲ୍ୟ ଓ ଦୟାକ୍ଷମାର ପ୍ରତିମୂର୍ତ୍ତି ରୂପେ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କୁ କଳ୍ପନା କରାଯାଇ ଘରର ଶ୍ରୀ, ସମୃଦ୍ଧି, ପରିଷ୍କାର-ପରିଚ୍ଛନ୍ନତା ଆଦି ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ଦିଆଯାଇଥାଏ । ମାର୍ଗଶିର ମାସରେ ପୂଜା ଘରେ ଧାନ ମେଣ୍ଟା ବା "ଧାନବେଣୀ"ରେ ସଜାଯାଇଥାଏ । ଧାନକେଣ୍ଡାକୁ ଗୁନ୍ଥି ଏହି ମେଣ୍ଟା ବା ବେଣୀ ତିଆରି କରାଯାଏ । ବିଧି: ମାର୍ଗଶିର ମାସରେ ପ୍ରଥମ ଧାନ ଅମଳ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୁଏ । ଚାଷୀ ତା’ ର ଖଳାକୁ ଧାନହଳା ଆଣିଥାଏ । ଧାନ ଅମଳ କରି ଘରକୁ ଆଣିବା ଆଗରୁ ତା'ର ଘରଣୀ ଏଥିରୁ ଧଳାଧାନର ଶିଶା ବାଛି ବାହାର କରିଥାଏ। ଏହି ଧାନର ଶିଶାରେ ବେଣୀ ବାନ୍ଧି ମେଣ୍ଟିବା ମେଣ୍ଟା ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରି ଏହାକୁ ଶୁଖାଇ ଅତି ଯତ୍ନ ଓ ଆଦରରେ ରଖିଥାଏ । ଗୁରୁବାର ଓଷାର ପୂର୍ବଦିନରୁ ଘର ଦ୍ୱାର ଅଗଣା ଓ ଘର ଚାରିପାଖ ଗୋବର ମାଟିରେ ଲିପା ପୋଛା କରି ପରିଷ୍କାର କରିଥାଏ । ଅମଳ ପରେ ଖଳାରେ ସେହି ସ୍ତୁପୀକୃତ ଧାନକୁ ଅନ୍ନ ଓ ଧନର ଦେବୀ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କର ଆଶିଷ ବୋଲି ମାନି ଏହି ଓଷା ପାଳନ କରାଯାଇଥାଏ I ମାଣବସା ଗୁରୁବାର ଓଷା ପୂର୍ବଦିନ ରାତିରେ ଗୃହିଣୀମାନେ ଘରଦ୍ଵାର ଲିପାପୋଛା କରି ଝୋଟିଚିତା ପକାଇଥାନ୍ତି । ଗୁରୁବାର ଦିନ ବଡ଼ିଭୋରରୁ ଉଠି ନାରୀମାନେ ସ୍ନାନାଦି କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ସାରି ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କ ପୂଜା ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଥାନ୍ତି । ଗାଁମାନଙ୍କରେ ମହିଳାମାନେ ମାଟିଘରକୁ ଗୋବରରେ ଲିପାପୋଛା କରି ନୂତନ ଚାଉଳର ପିଠଉରେ ଝୋଟି ଏବଂ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀପାଦରେ ଆଙ୍କନ୍ତି । ଘରର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟକ ଦୁଆର ଅଗଣା କାନ୍ଥ ଓ ଚାରିପାଖ ଝୋଟି ଚିତା ଦ୍ୱାରା ସଜାଯାଇଥାଏ । ମାଣ ଖଟୁଲି ଉପରେ ଏକ ନୂଆ ମାଣରେ ଧଳାଧାନ ଭରି ରଖାଯାଏ । ହଳଦୀ ଓ ଗୁଗୁଳ ବାଟି ମାଣର ଉପରପାଶ୍ୱର୍ରେ ଲେପ ଦିଆଯାଏ ଯାହାଏକ ମୁହଁର ରୂପ ନେଇଥାଏ । ସେଥିରେ କଉଡିକୁ ଆଖିଭାବେ ବ୍ୟବାରକରି ନିଜର ସୃଜନ ଶୈଳିଦ୍ୱାରା ମାଣକୁ ଏକ ସୁନ୍ଦର ମୁହଁର ରୂପ ଦେଇ ଖଟୁଲିରେ ରଖି ତା ଉପରେ ଧାନର ମେଣ୍ଟାକୁ ରଖାଯାଏ । ନାଲିଛିଟ ଓ ସୁନ୍ଦର ପାଟକନାରେ ଓଢଣୀ ଦେଇ ଏହାକୁ ଏକ ନବ ବଧୂର ରୂପ ସଦୃଶ କରାଯାଏ । କେହି କେହି ମାଣକୁ କାରିଗର ଦ୍ୱାରା ଗଢାଇ ସୋଲ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟରେ ସେଥିରେ ଆଖି, ନାକ, କାନ ସୁନ୍ଦର ଭାବେ ଗଢାଇ ପୂଜା କରିଥାନ୍ତି । ମା’ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କର ଖଟୁଲି ବା ଆସ୍ଥାନ ଚାରିପଟେ ଷୋଳ ପାଖୁଡା ବିଶିଷ୍ଟ ଦିବ୍ୟ, ପଦ୍ମ ଅଙ୍କନ କରାଯାଇଥାଏ । ଘରର ଚତୁଃପାଶ୍ୱର୍ରୁ ମା’ଙ୍କର ପଦ୍ମ ପାଦର ଚିତା ଆସ୍ଥାନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଅଙ୍କାଯାଏ । କେହି କେହି ଗବପତ୍ର, ଗୟାତୁଳସୀ, କଳାପାତି, ସିନ୍ଦର ଫରୁଆ, ପିତ୍ତଳମୂର୍ତ୍ତି ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ମଧ୍ୟ ରଖିଥାନ୍ତି । ଧାନଖଳାକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେଦିନ ଝୋଟିଚିତାରେ ଚିତ୍ରିତ କରାଯାଇଥାଏ । ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କର ସ୍ଥାପନା ପାଇଁ ଠାକୁରଘରର ଏକ ସ୍ଵତନ୍ତ୍ର ସ୍ଥାନ ନିରୂପଣ କରାଯାଏ । ପୂଜାସ୍ଥାନରେ ପିଠଉରେ କୋଠି କରି ଷୋହଳ ପାଖୁଡା ପଦ୍ମଫୁଲ ଅଙ୍କାଯାଇଥାଏ । ପୂଜା ପାଇଁ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରି ରଖାଯାଇଥାଏ ଅମଳ ହୋଇଥିବା ଶୁକ୍ଳଧାନ , ମାଣ, ଗୁଆ, କଉଡି, ନଡିଆ, ଦୁବ, ବରକୋଳି ପତ୍ର, ସିନ୍ଦୂର, ଧୂପଦୀପ ଓ ନୈବେଦ୍ୟ । ମାଣ ବସାଇବା ପୂର୍ବରୁ ସେହିମାଣକୁ ହଳଦୀ ପାଣିରେ ଧୋଇ ଖରାରେ ଶୁଖିଯିବା ପରେ ସିନ୍ଦୂର ବୋଳାଯାଏ । ପ୍ରଥମେ ଏକ ଖଟୁଲିରେ କିଛି ନୂଆଧାନ ରଖାଯାଏ । ସିନ୍ଦୂର ବୋଳାଯାଇଥିବା ମାଣ ବା ଗଉଣୀକୁ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ଦେବୀଙ୍କର ପ୍ରତୀକ ସ୍ଵରୂପ ନୂଆ ଧଳାଧାନରେ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣକରି ତା' ଉପରେ ଗୁଆ ରଖାଯାଏ । ସେହି ମାଣକୁ ଖଟୁଲି ଉପରେ ବସାଇ ତା'ଉପରେ ଧାନବେଣୀ ରଖି ନୂତନ ପାଟଲୁଗାର ଓଢ଼ଣୀ ଢଙ୍କାଯାଏ । ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କୁ ଏକ ନବବଧୂ ବେଶରେ ସଜାଯାଇ ଚନ୍ଦନ ସିନ୍ଦୂର ଆଦି ଦେଇ ସ୍ଥାପନା କରାଯାଏ । ବିଧି ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ଖଟୁଲି ଉପରେ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କର କାଠରେ ନିର୍ମିତ ପ୍ରତିମା, ପାନିଆଁ, ଆଇନା, କଜ୍ଜଳ ଏବଂ ଖଟୁଲି ପାଖରେ ଆଖୁ, ମୂଳା ନିକଟରେ ରଖାଯାଇଥାଏ । ଭୋଗ: ପୂଜା କାଳରେ ଧୂପ, ଦୀପ ଓ ନୈବେଦ୍ୟ ଆଦି ଅର୍ପଣ କରାଯାଏ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ । ପିଠାପଣା ଓ ଫଳମୂଳ ଭୋଗ (କଦଳୀ, ଛେନା, ନଡ଼ିଆ, ଗୁଡ଼, ଗୋଲମରିଚ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ଫଳ ) ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଲଗାଯାଏ । ଏଥି ସହିତ ମଣ୍ଡା ପିଠା ତିଆରି କରାଯାଇ ଭୋଗ ଦିଆଯାଇଥାଏ । ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପାଳିରେ ଭିନ୍ନ ଭିନ୍ନ ପିଠାପଣା ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରି ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କୁ ପାଖରେ ଲାଗି କରାଯାଇଥାଏ । ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କୁ ଧୂପ, ଦୀପ, ନେବେଦ୍ୟ ସହ ବାଳଭୋଗରେ ଛୋନା, ଗୁଡ଼, ନଡ଼ିଆ, କଦଳୀକୁ ଚକଟି ଭୋଗ ଲଗାଯାଏ । ତିନି ଧୂପ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଏହାକୁ ବାଳଧୂପ କୁହାଯାଏ । ଏହାପରେ ମଧ୍ୟାହ୍ନ ଧୂପପାଇଁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତି ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୁଏ । ମଧ୍ୟାହ୍ନରେ ଶଙ୍କୁଡ଼ି ଧୂପରେ ଲାଗିହେବା ପାଇଁ ଖିରି ବା ତରଣ, ଚକୁଳିପିଠା, ତରକାରି ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରାଯାଇ ଶ୍ରଦ୍ଧାର ସହ ଭୋଗ ଲଗାଯାଏ । ମଧ୍ୟାହ୍ନ ଭୋଗପରେ ମା’ଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ପୁରାଣ ବୋଲାଯାଏ । ଏହି ଭୋଗ ଘରର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ସଦସ୍ୟ ଖାଇଥାନ୍ତି । ଏହିଭୋଗକୁ ପରିବାର ଛଡ଼ା ଅନ୍ୟ କାହାକୁ ନଦେବାର ନିୟମ ଅଛି । ଗୋଧୂଳି ସମୟରେ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ଧୂପରେ ଆଉଥରେ ବାଳଧୂପପରି ଭୋଗ ଲଗାଯାଇ ସଧ୍ୟା ପୂଜା କରାଯାଏ । ୨ୟ ଗୁରୁବାରରେ ଚିତଉପିଠା, ଦହିକାଲୁଆ, ୩ୟରେ ଖେଚୁଡ଼ି-ଡାଲମା ଏବଂ ୪ର୍ଥରେ ମଣ୍ଡା ପିଠା ଭୋଗ ଲାଗି ହୋଇଥାଏ।

Purana Mandir Part 7 | Mohnish Bahl, Arti Gupta, Punnet Issar, Sadashiv Amrapurkar
The movie story is about Suman who lives a wealthy lifestyle along with her widower dad, Thakur Ranvir Singh, and an unmarried aunt, Damyanti, in a palatial house in Bombay. They are direct descendants of Raja Hariman Singh of Bijapur. When Ranvir finds out that Suman is in love with a middle-classed male, Sanjay, he expresses displeasure and forbids her to ever see him again. When she persists, he tells her that there is a curse on the entire family - a curse that was inflicted 200 years ago by a blood-thirsty, flesh-eating demon named Samri. This curse impacts only women in their family, who are hideously transformed after giving birth to their firstborn, and die a painful death. Treating this as mere superstitious, Suman and Sanjay, along with Sanjay's friend, Anand and his wife, Sapna, set out to Bijapur to unearth and put an end to this rumor - not knowing that soon they will resurrect a virtually indestructible Samri - who is out to kill the remainder of the Singh family before wrecking havoc on the region
