History has come a full circle. Five centuries ago (august 1510) Afonso de Albuquerque was planning to capture Goa and throw out the Turkish and Rumi shipbuilders. Five centuries down the line we entertained students from Turkey at Goa University. Turkey has given to the world crop resources like wheat, peas, lentil, black gram , pistachios, and a leader like Kemal Ataturk. Globalization has promoted people to people and students to students contacts across the world. Two Students of University of Istanbul, Turkey on an academic research (molecular biology project) in India visited our house at Goa University and had discussion with my wife Melinda, on food, customs, culture and common ground between the two cultures. The students chose Goa as the best tourist spot in India after visiting New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.
