A board of directors is a body of elected or appointed members who jointly oversee the activities of a company or organization. Other names include board of governors, board of managers, board of regents, board of trustees, and board of visitors. It is often simply referred to as "the board".
A board's activities are determined by the powers, duties, and responsibilities delegated to it or conferred on it by an authority outside itself. These matters are typically detailed in the organization's bylaws. The bylaws commonly also specify the number of members of the board, how they are to be chosen, and when they are to meet.
In an organization with voting members, e.g., a professional society, the board acts on behalf of, and is subordinate to, the organization's full assembly, which usually chooses the members of the board. In a stock corporation, the board is elected by the stockholders and is the highest authority in the management of the corporation. In a non-stock corporation with no general voting membership, e.g., a university, the board is the supreme governing body of the institution; its members are sometimes chosen by the board itself.

Board of Trustees Meeting 6-16-15
About St. Petersburg College:
In 1927, St. Petersburg College (then known as St. Petersburg Junior College) became Florida's first private, non-profit, two-year school of higher learning located in downtown St. Petersburg. Full accreditation followed in 1931 and in 1948 SPC became a public college.
In June 2001, SPJC officially became St. Petersburg College when Florida's governor signed legislation making it the first community college in Florida to offer four-year degrees. On Dec. 11, 2001, the college received the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' accreditation to offer courses leading to bachelor's degrees.
In 2002, St. Petersburg College began offering courses leading to bachelor's degrees in Education, Nursing and Technology Management. The college's commitment to its two-year curriculum, which has earned it wide recognition and annually wins it high national rankings, remains as strong as ever.
Today, SPC has ten learning sites throughout Pinellas County and recently became the first college in Florida to offer a four-year degree in Dental Hygiene. This program's offerings augment its two-year program, which has been in operation since 1963. SPC added four-year degrees in Veterinary Technology, Public Safety Administration and Orthotics and Prosthetics in 2005.

From the NE Tarrant Tea Party:
On Thursday, August 13th @ 6:30 the Keller ISD Board of Trustees will be meeting to discuss and vote on policy changes for the school district.
While Keller ISD families were on vacation, the Superintendent and Board of Trustees proposed
changes to the anti discrimination policies on the recommendation made by 2 girls claiming discrimination based on their sexual orientation for not being allowed to make a “promposal” on school property, of course it does not matter that all “promposals” on school property are against school policy.
The proposed policy changes redefine the word “Discrimination” throughout to include the new language “gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation”
Those in favor of this policy change argue that it will provide needed protection for “the most persecuted group in the school”. While KISD touts their strong bullying policies, it begs the question that if these current policies are not protecting children now, then how will MORE empty policies further protect children?
We are fighting for the innocence of our children. Have you seen what is happening in school districts like Nevada, Fairfax and Minneapolis? This very policy change has led to unintended consequences, requiring mixed gender bathroom and locker room use as well as explicit sexual orientation education at all school age groups from K – 12.
The KISD General Counsel, Amanda Bigbee, has confirmed “We have worked successfully with transgendered students for many years to ensure they are able to come to school and learn in a safe environment.” Why make the change to the language that, in fact, has the potential to expose our young children to situations they should not have to face?
Find out how you can help here.

I addressed the board to voice my concerns over some political shenanigans that one member is engaged in to try and damage our district. My hope is that by making this info public, he will not be successful, and we can move forward with the business of providing high quality education to our children, with a new, top-notch administrative team

Keller ISD School Board meeting tomorrow night to determine changes to the discrimination policy August 12, 2015
Keller ISD School Board Trustee JoLynn Hausmann joined Jon-David to discuss this vary topical situation
