Antonis Samaras (Greek: Αντώνης Σαμαράς, pronounced [anˈdonis samaˈras]; born 23 May 1951) is a Greek economist and politician who has been the Prime Minister of Greece since 20 June 2012. He has been leader of New Democracy, Greece's major conservative party, since 2009. Previously, Samaras served as Minister of Finance in 1989, then as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1990 and again from 1990 to 1992. Later, he was Minister of Culture in 2009.
Samaras was known for a 1993 controversy in which he effectively caused the New Democracy government, of which he was a member, to fall from power. In spite of this he rejoined the party in 2004 and was elected to its leadership in a closely fought intra-party election in late 2009. He is the 7th leader of the party since it was founded in 1974.
After New Democracy resoundingly lost the 2009 legislative election, Kostas Karamanlis resigned as head of the party, prompting a leadership race, and Samaras ran for the post. Early polls showed he was running neck and neck with the perceived initial favorite Dora Bakoyanni, the former Foreign Minister and former Athens mayor.[5] Shortly thereafter, another leadership candidate, former Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos announced he was resigning his candidacy and would support Samaras instead. In a break with previous practice, an extraordinary party congress resolved that the new leader would be elected by party members in a countrywide ballot. Samaras' candidacy soared in opinion polls and finished the race as a favorite.
In the early morning hours of 30 November 2009, Samaras was elected the new leader of the New Democracy party.[6] Following early results showing Samaras in a comfortable lead, Bakoyanni, his main rival, conceded defeat and called Samaras to congratulate him. He accepted his election with a speech at the party headquarters, and pledged to carry out a broad ideological and organizational reform, aspiring to regain majority status. He was later instrumental in the expulsion of Ms. Bakoyanni (May, 2010) for defying the party line and voting for an austerity measure required for European Union-International Monetary Fund backed lending.
Following the May 2012 legislative election where the New Democracy party became the largest party in the Hellenic Parliament, Samaras was asked by Greek President Karolos Papoulias to try to form a government.[7] However, after a day of hard negotiations with the other parties in Parliament, Samaras officially announced he was giving up the mandate to form a government. The task passed to Alexis Tsipras, leader of the SYRIZA (the second largest party) who was also unable to form a government.[8] After PASOK also failed to negotiate a successful agreement to form a government, emergency talks with the President ended with a new election being called while the outgoing chairman of the Council of State Panagiotis Pikrammenos was appointed as Prime Minister in a caretaker government made up by independent technocrats.
Voters once again took to the polls in the widely-watched June 2012 election. New Democracy came out on top in a stronger position with 129 seats, compared to 108 in the May election. [9] The new government would have a majority of 28 (which has since been reduced to 18),[10] On 20 June 2012, Samaras successfully formed a coalition with PASOK (now led by former Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos) and DIMAR.[11] The new government would have a majority of 28 (which has since been reduced to 18),[12] with SYRIZA, Independent Greeks (ANEL), Golden Dawn (XA) and the Communist Party (KKE) comprising the opposition. PASOK and DIMAR chose to take a limited role in Samaras' Cabinet, being represented by party officials and independent technocrats instead of MPs.

'Presents the problems of supervision, telling about a plant supervisor who goes to the doctor for help as a result of the tensions and unpleasant experiences which he encounters as a supervisor. Enumerates the principles of good supervision.
Tells of a supervisor who knows the "book rules" for human relations but finds himself in trouble when trying to apply them to people on the job. Points out the things a man with supervisory responsibility needs to know about the way different people react to different situations, and the use he can make of this knowledge to improve his own job function and that of the people he supervises.
Tells the story of a supervisor who tries to follow standard rules for getting the best from his people. He finds however, that his efforts at human relations backfire on him. Explains that through the discovery of his own and other people's 'INNER MAN,' he learns what he has been doing wrong and why.'
Public domain film from the Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied.
The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original).

Operations management is an area of management concerned with overseeing, designing, and controlling the process of production and redesigning business operations in the production of goods or services. It involves the responsibility of ensuring that business operations are efficient in terms of using as few resources as needed, and effective in terms of meeting customer requirements. It is concerned with managing the process that converts inputs (in the forms of raw materials, labor, and energy) into outputs (in the form of goods and/or services). The relationship of operations management to senior management in commercial contexts can be compared to the relationship of line officers to highest-level senior officers in military science. The highest-level officers shape the strategy and revise it over time, while the line officers make tactical decisions in support of carrying out the strategy. In business as in military affairs, the boundaries between levels are not always distinct; tactical information dynamically informs strategy, and individual people often move between roles over time.
According to the United States Department of Education, operations management is the field concerned with managing and directing the physical and/or technical functions of a firm or organization, particularly those relating to development, production, and manufacturing. Operations management programs typically include instruction in principles of general management, manufacturing and production systems, factory management, equipment maintenance management, production control, industrial labor relations and skilled trades supervision, strategic manufacturing policy, systems analysis, productivity analysis and cost control, and materials planning. Management, including operations management, is like engineering in that it blends art with applied science. People skills, creativity, rational analysis, and knowledge of technology are all required for success...
The history of production and operation systems began around 5000 B.C. when Sumerian priests developed the ancient system of recording inventories, loans, taxes, and business transactions. The next major historical application of operation systems occurred in 4000 B.C. It was during this time that the Egyptians started using planning, organization, and control in large projects such as the construction of the pyramids. By 1100 B.C., labor was being specialized in China; by about 370 B.C., Xenophon described the advantages of dividing the various operations necessary for the production of shoes among different individuals in ancient Greece...

In 1883, Frederick W. Taylor introduced the stopwatch method for accurately measuring the time to perform each single task of a complicated job. The island of Santorini has a pretty explosive past. It’s perched over the remains of a much larger land mass that sank almost 4,000 years ago when a volcano blew its top, leaving the blue caldera and steep cliffs behind.
It is these cliffs and the flooded caldera that have become Santorini’s iconic calling card, and the first stop on your Sa

Travel video about destination Greece.
Although Greece is the home of ancient gods, birthplace of European civilisation and a country of great warriors and philosophers it is also a country of many islands with tiny villages and white houses, a deep blue sea and almost constant sunshine.Athens is a lively city set in historic surroundings. Unique among all other Greek temples is the Acropolis whose imposing appearance and artistic decoration signified the great influence and power of ancient Athens. Six female figures, the Karyatides, support the southern hall of the Ionic Temple of Erechtheion that stands on sacred ground close to the main temple. The imposing Mitrópolis is the main Greek Orthodox cathedral in Athens. A total of four architects designed this cathedral whose walls comprise the remains of no less than seventy former sacred buildings. The Cyclades Islands are situated in the middle of the Southern Aegean that like a magic circle flows around its former centre, the sacred island of Delos, Mykonos. For centuries this picturesque former pirate village in the middle of Cyclades group of islands has been the meeting place for artists, V.I.P.’s and the international glitterati. The Cyclades are also known as The Pearls Of Greece and it seems as though the gods have scattered a handful of beautiful pearls into the deep blue Aegean Sea. In ancient times they were also known as The Islands Of Light because Apollo, the God of Light and Learning, was born here and also worshipped on the islands. Santorini is the most southerly of the Cyclades Islands and the legendary location of the mythical lost island of Atlantis and also a breathtaking island paradise of rock, lava, sea and light.Crete is the ‘Island Of Light’ and the birthplace of Zeus. Heraklion is the capital of the largest and most southerly of the Greek islands on which a highly developed culture has existed for four thousand years. It’s no wonder that in these magnificent islands in the Aegean numerous gods, knights and tourists have always found much good fortune and enchantment!

Santorini Vacation Travel Guide - Travel Greece 2015
The island of Santorini has a pretty explosive past. It’s perched over the remains of a much larger land mass that sank almost 4,000 years ago when a volcano blew its top, leaving the blue caldera and steep cliffs behind.
It is these cliffs and the flooded caldera that have become Santorini’s iconic calling card, and the first stop on your Santorini tour. Here’s your first bit of trivia: The whitewashed homes that appear on so many postcards and photographs are larger than they appear on the outside. They’re partially built into existing cliffside caves, and feature some of the most distinctive Mediterranean architecture you’ll ever see.
Santorini sightseeing will no doubt bring you up the stairs and pathways to the blue-domed churches that stand guard over the island. From there, you can take in the exquisite view of the caldera and harbor below. If you get a little weary of the spectacular sights, don’t worry; there’s plenty of things to do besides wander the various clifftop towns. If you head down to water level, you can soak in the warm surf, explore Santorini’s many beaches, go for a drive along winding roads, or go on a fishing expedition from one of the harbors.
At the end of the day, gather with the residents and visitors atop the cliff towns and watch the sun drop into the ocean. You’ll never see a view quite like it.

Greece is the cradle of the European civilization, a quarry of mythology and ancient relics. On the Chalkidiki Peninsula we can visit the city of Thessalonica, the beaches of Katerini and Paralia, and from the boat we can take a look at the mystical monastery republic, Athos. Near the legendary Olympus Mountain we can take a look at the ‘rocks of gods’, the Meteora monasteries built on the sky-high cliffs. Athens’s well known building is the Acropolis, which is garlanded by the golden pillars of the Parthenon. The Agora was the marketplace of the ancient Athens, while the Plaka is a current, full of life eastern bazaar. From the capital the visitors can take journeys to the canal of Corinth and to the beaches of the Attican Riviera. From the dock of Pireus it is easy to take a boat and visit the islands of the Aegean and Ionic Sea. The islands tell us of Romans, Byzantines, pirates and knights. Among the olive tree gardens and orange trees white houses, temples and sunlit ruins are hiding. The sea is blue in the bays surrounded by beaches and on the terrace of a tavern the flavors of the Greek cuisine are always welcome.

Meteora is wonderful place( unique and unbelievable) where you can find 6 monasteries , 4 inhibited by men and 2 inhibited by women. The closest city is Kalambaka at just 5 km where you can find some hotels but the prices are pretty high , I suggest you to get accomodation in Larissa(100km away) or in Thessaloniki(250km away) , Meteora is a 1 day destination because if you follow to main road you can visit all monasteries in just few hours. You can visit here also a cave.
The Meteora means , 'middle of the sky','suspended in air'or 'in the heavens above' etymologically related with "Meteorite"
is one of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece, second only to Mount Athos.
The six monasteries are built on natural sandstone rock pillars,on the plane of Thessaly near the Pindus mountains in central Greece
You have 2 ways to get at Meteora , first is From Thessaloniki but you have to drive 250km and the second
is from larissa and you have to drive just 100km or you can take a bus from a travel agency.
About accommodation tell u that it is pretty bad and expensive ,
people usually come here to stay 1 night or maxim 2 because following the main road you can visit all monasteries in just 1 day
Meteora is a place where you can find 6 monasteries 4 inhibited by man and 2 inhinited by women.
As you can see to get here is not easy so take care.
And finnaly when you get to the monastery you have to pay a tax to visit it
In the 14th during the Ottoman invasion the monks decided to build new monasteries right on the pick,
the only safe place in the period of time
Here were 24 active monestries
Kalambaka is the closest city situated at just 5km
People started to live here thousands of years ago but in 9 century a group of monks move up to this nice place.
Meteora is a place where natural and man made wonders are linked makeing this place unique.
The Holy Monastery of Grand Meteoron is the largest of the monasteries located at Meteora.
It was elected in the mid-14th century and the building serves as the main museum for tourists
The holy monastery of Varlaam is the second largest monastery in the Meteora complex. It was built in 1541 and it is dedicated to all Saints.
The holy monastery of St.Stehen is a small church built in the 16th century. This monastery rests on the plain rather than on a cliff.
it was damaged by the Nazis during WW2 who believed it was harbouring insurgents and was abandoned.Nuns took it over and Reconstructed it.
The monastery of the Holy Trinity is on top of the cliffs and it was built in 1475.
The holy Monastery of St.Barbara was founded in the middle of 16th century.

Greece, a land of breathtaking beauty and light. A land where science, art and inspiration from the gods combined to produce some of the world's greatest marvels of architecture and design. The ancient Greeks used buildings and structures to reflect the variety of life at the core of their civilisation - they built the first theatres, staged the first sports events and worshipped in some of the most spectacular temples ever built. From prehistoric palaces to bold symbols of victory this programme explores the Seven Ancient Wonders of Greece - the Theatre of Epidaurus, Olympia, Delphi, the Colossus of Rhodes, Santorini, The Palace of Knossos and the greatest masterpiece of them all - The Parthenon. Revealing the true icons of this incredible civilisation, we explore how and why the seven wonders of Ancient Greece still retain the power to amaze the world today. By recounting the stories behind the people who designed and oversaw their construction and unravelling the tales and myths of those who lived within them, we unearth the secrets behind The Seven Wonders of Ancient Greece.
