Picnic in the Park

Pocatello — The Bannock County Democratic Party is holding its 2nd Annual BBQ & Picnic Fundraiser on Tuesday, August 6th. This event is being held at the Upper Ross Park pavilion in Pocatello, beginning at 6:00 PM.

The menu will be barbecued beef by Lin Whitworth along with salads and dessert items provided by the Democratic Women's Caucus. There will also be a no-host beer bar along with a silent auction of Great Treasures.

Come and join in on the fun! Meet your District 29 legislators, and Pocatello city council candidates. It's a great way to help the party raise needed campaign funds for the 2014 election cycle.

Tickets are $25 for couples, $15 for individuals, and kids under twelve years old for $5.

July Central Committee Meeting

democrat-signOn Tuesday, July 30th, the Bannock County Democrats will be holding their scheduled monthly meeting of the Bannock County Democrats' Central Committee, beginning at 7:00 PM and ending shortly after 8:00 PM. Precinct Captains are reminded to attend, and all county Democrats are invited to attend and participate.

This event will be held at our headquarters, which are located at 355 Yellowstone Ave., across the street from Mama Inez restaurant. Entrances are at the front and back of the building, with parking in back.

IDP Summer Activist Tour

caucusWhat do LDS, Latinos, Women, the LGBTA community, Veterans and young people between the ages of 16-35 all have in common? They all have a powerful reason to care about electoral politics and making sure our State is headed in the right direction. If you want to see what could happen when a group of passionate, caring people with similar interests come together please join us to learn more about the Idaho Democratic Caucuses. For a better, balanced Idaho!

The IDP Summer Activist Tour is travelling to meet and welcome supporters and introduce the caucuses. The tour is making a stop in Pocatello on Saturday, July 20th, from 1:30pm to 5:30pm. Visiting from Boise for this will be Jennifer Martinez, Tom Hamilton, Barb Harris and Representative Sue Chew. This event will be held at our headquarters, located at 355 Yellowstone Ave., across the street from Mama Inez restaurant.

Entrances are at the front and back of the building, with parking in back (please do not take parking spaces belonging to businesses along adjacent buildings). We look forward to seeing you there! July 2013 Political Soup

stephen weegPocatello — On Wednesday, July 10th, the Bannock County Democrats will be holding a Political Soup luncheon. Our speaker will be Idaho Health Insurance Exchange Board Chairman Stephen Weeg of Pocatello, speaking on the Idaho Health Insurance Exchange and the general implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The IHIE is authorized by the Idaho Legislature to set the rules and regulations for implementing a state-based exchange. The Board must establish an exchange by January 1, 2014, as required by federal law. It is empowered by State law to develop an operating plan and contract for required services. This event will be held at our headquarters, located at 355 Yellowstone Ave., across the street from Mama Inez restaurant. Delicious soup and bread will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Stephen Weeg has a 38 year career in health and human services leadership in Idaho. For the past seven years Weeg was the Executive Director for Health West, a community and migrant health center with six clinics in southeast Idaho. He is also a member of the Portneuf Health Care Foundation Board, Pocatello Hospital, LLC Board. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and an master's degree in Counseling from Idaho State University.

May 23, 2013, Pocatello, ID — Are you ready to MOVE FORWARD Pocatello? Well, you have a unique opportunity to do just that. On Wednesday, May 29th beginning at 5:30 p.m. you will have the opportunity to help Pocatello keep Moving Forward!

This event is being held to thank Councilwoman Nye, Councilman Bray, Councilman Moore, and Human Relations Advisory Chair Susie Matsuura for their courageous support on April 18th for the Non-Discrimination Ordinance. Their continued support will help to keep Pocatello Moving Forward toward true equality for the citizens of Pocatello.

Our speakers will be Idaho State Senator Roy Lacey and State Representatives Elaine Smith and Carolyn Meline from District #29. They will be discussing the results of the 2013 legislative session and answering your questions.
