Say "silk" ten times. Now, spell "silk." What do cows drink?
Answer: "Milk. No, wait...!"
Many people know this or similar games, but only few know the psychological effect that is responsible für our wrong answers: Priming (e.g. Hopkins et al., 1968.).
During priming neural networks are preheated without our knowing. Since some concepts in the brain are closely associated with each other, the activation of one concept (such as "silk"), prepares the activation of another one (such als "milk"). But how huge are priming effects really?
For Example: Does thinking about a professor increase your intelligence?
And: What effects can placebos have on our mental capacity?
Keywords: Priming - fluid intelligence - General Knowledge - Dijksterhuis - van Knippenberg - Trivial Pursuit - Diederik Stapel - research fraud - Social Psychology - David Shanks - replication failed - too much noise - tests too difficult - publication bias - false positives - Ulrich Weger - Steve Loughnan - Placebo Effects - (bogus) subliminal priming - Anxiety - Stress - Psychology - neuronal networks - John Bargh - unconscious - Brain - Mind Control - Derren Brown - psychological manipulation

The Quantified Body Episode 27 - Does Brain Training Improve Mental Performance with Dr. Adrian Owen https://thequantifiedbody.net/brain-training-improve-mental-performance-dr-adrian-owen/
This episode includes discussion on:
- The Cambridge Brain Sciences was set up to research and assess brain training tools (06:59).
- Previously, brain function was researched by testing brain damaged participants (10:30).
- In the 1990’s brain imaging techniques (PET scans and fMRIs) became important tools for brain assessment (11:40).
- Dr. Owen explains further the definitions of fluid intelligence and crystalised intelligence (17:56).
- Research using these brain training tasks, games, exercises, etc. usually focuses on fluid intelligence (20:22).
- Dr. Owen describes further the brain-based tests used by Cambridge Brain Sciences (20:52).
- Damien and Dr. Owen discuss the use of these cognitive tests to assess your own brain performance on a regular basis (22:43).
- Cambridge Brain Sciences is hoping to encourage people to use their tools to assess whether brain training and interventions (such as coffee, etc.) can affect their own cognitive performance (25:12).
- If you are going to run your own “experiments” to test the training or interventions, be your own scientist and carefully employ “good” research techniques (26:16).
- Remember, what works for you may not always work for another (27:24).
- Dr. Owen begins discussing “transfer” of training: to improve upon many aspects, not just the one (29:06).
- The Cambridge Brain Sciences study also compared the lifestyles of the participants as related to their performance on the different tests analyzed in the study (36:18).
- Damien and Dr. Owen discuss the damage that occurs to the brain from aging, injury, etc. and the fact that these cognitive declines are specific to each individual person (41:07).
- Neuroplasticity is defined and discussed as a “change in the brain” following the learning process (45:04).
- Dr. Owen discusses the use of EEG, a cheaper alternative, to analyze aspects such as consciousness that have previously been assessed with an fMRI, a more expensive machine (51:51).
- Dr. Owen shares his thoughts for the future of cognitive performance including brain training and a short description of neuroenhancers, often called “smart drugs” (55:00).
- Dr. Adrian Owen’s one biggest recommendation on using body data to improve your health, longevity and performance (1:00:10).

Why Is Strategic Intelligence Important? CIA Director on Future Role (1991)

Strategic intelligence (STRATINT) pertains to the collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence that is required for forming policy and military plans at the national and international level. Much of the information needed for strategic reflections comes from Open Source Intelligence.[1] Other sources include traditional HUMINT (especially in recent years), Signals intelligence including ELINT, MASINT which overlaps with SIGINT/ELINT to some degree, and 'National technical means of verification' (e.g. spysats).
Strategic intelligence pertains to the following system of abilities that, according to Michael Maccoby, characterize some of the most successful leaders in business and government:[2]
foresight, the ability to understand trends that present threats or opportunities for an organization;
visioning, the ability to conceptualize an ideal future state based on foresight and create a process to engage others to implement it;
system thinking, the ability to perceive, synthesize, and integrate elements that function as a whole to achieve a common purpose.
motivating, the ability to motivate different people to work together to implement a vision. Understanding what motivates people is based upon another ability, personality intelligence .
partnering, the ability to develop strategic alliances with individuals, groups and organizations. This quality also depends on personality intelligence.[3]
Recent thought leadership on strategic intelligence focuses on the consequences of the modern information age, which has led to the availability of substantial volumes of information than previously encountered. Alfred Rolington, the former CEO of Jane’s Information Group and Oxford Analytica, recommends that intelligence organizations approach the challenges of the modern information age by breaking from their traditional models to become more deeply and continuously inter-linked.[4] Specifically, Mr. Rolington advocates more fluid, networked operating methods that incorporates greater open-sourced information and data in analysis.

William Egan Colby (January 4, 1920 – April 27, 1996) spent a career in intelligence for the United States, culminating in holding the post of the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) from September 1973 to January 1976.
During World War II Colby served with the Office of Strategic Services. After the war he joined the newly created Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Before and during the Vietnam War, Colby served as chief of station in Saigon, chief of the CIA's Far East Division, and head of the Civil Operations and Rural Development effort, as well as overseeing the Phoenix Program. After Vietnam, Colby became director of central intelligence and during his tenure, under intense pressure from the U.S. Congress and the media, adopted a policy of relative openness about U.S. intelligence activities to the Senate Church Committee and House Pike Committee. Colby served as DCI under President Richard Nixon and President Gerald Ford and was replaced by future president George H.W. Bush on January 30, 1976.

The CIMeC Colloquia Series is an annual set of invited talks given by leading researchers in the mind/brain sciences, both from Italy and abroad, aimed principally at our PhD Students. Given the multi-disciplinary backgrounds of the CIMeC students and researchers, the Colloquia are aimed at a general scientific level rather than at a more specialized audience.
Abstract: All human cognition is controlled in a series of attentional episodes, breaking complex problems into simpler, more solvable sub-problems. In human fMRI studies, a common or multiple-demand (MD) pattern of frontal and parietal activity is associated with diverse cognitive demands, and with standard tests of fluid intelligence. Based on behavioural, neuropsychological, fMRI and single unit data, I suggest that the core function of MD cortex is to control complex cognition in a structured sequence of attentional episodes. Using multivoxel pattern analysis of human fMRI data, I show widespread coding of attended information across MD regions. Using single unit data from the behaving monkey, I examine dynamics of task representation as a complex sequence of attentional episodes is constructed and executed.

The Bases Project Lecture series continues with Max Spiers and his girlfriend Sarah R Adams. This is only their 2nd time they have been in public. The first was earlier in the year at The Bases at the Barge micro-conference in the Coronation Hall, Alton Barnes. This was recorded as live at the Bases Project 2nd International Conference and Film Festival, St John's Theatre on the Hill Marlborough, July-August 2015
Max is part of the "British Super Soldier program" to use a rather crude term, and Sarah is part of the 'United States Super Soldier program'. These crude terms are simple and basic descriptions. Max along with James Casbolt, Matt Todd, Dave Marrow and others have been made available to the public as a warning mechanism to awaken the wider public as to what we are dealing with. To bring forth serious and alarming concepts. Casbolt was the first to fall, and is mentioned in detail at the end of this lecture Q&A.; Max's appearance is a personal trauma for him, and appears with extreme duress, as with his first public appearance at the Barge event.
Sarah has many positive and important observations to describe. The researcher should be careful with these public statements to observe with extreme care what is being said, and how it is said.
This meeting (behind the scenes) (with Sarah) was specifically arranged for Harald Kautz Vella to meet Sarah, who is claimed and observed to be an interface for Humanity's earlier and Ancient "A-I" or Artificial Intelligence, which assimilated Humanity then, as the Alien and Trojan Horse A-I is Now doing to humanity, due to the treachery of those who now control Humanity. True Treason, with Treachery.
These ' super soldiers' are in the public domain to alert and Wake Up Humanity.
Harald appeared earlier at the conference, having met Sarah, which he did under EXTREME Danger (From the massive Octo-form (spider) creatures, native to the alien Sentient Fluid AI deposited on earth 80,000 years ago. Harald was later to' change', and that is best left as said as nothing more. The concept of soul swapping out of human bodies with a nonhuman soul must be taken into account. Thus the term Skin Walker
Also featuring the 'Active' (Portal) art work of Lloyd Canning. (Large Extra Dimensional beings were observed during this presentation, by attendees and external observers, which used Canning's art as portals, which Sarah alludes to in her observations of the art on stage)
Sarah is publishing her own blogs. Max also appeared on the Channel 4 pilot documentary with Miles Johnston, The Great UFO Conspiracy, which aired a few months (April 2015, More 4) before this appearance, (August 2nd 2015).
Recorded in front of an academic audience for television, and psychology specialists, with members of the public.

The Prayer of the Heart (Jesus Prayer) Guided Meditation with Gabriel Gonsalves

In the time of the Apostles of the Christ, there was a practice called The Prayer of the Heart, also known as The Jesus Prayer. In the Jesus Prayer, the words Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison, (Lord have mercy on me, Christ have mercy on me) are spoken or sang with an awareness of the heart, while breathing consciously. In the book, The Way of a Pilgrim, written by an anonymous Russian mystic, this practice is discussed with great detail.
The earliest description we have of the Jesus Prayer is by a student and companion of the Apostle Paul, Abba Philemon, who died in 54 AD. In a sixth century book called The Life of Abba Philemon, the following instructions were given:
With the help of your imagination find the place of the heart and stay there with attention. Lead the mind from the head into the heart and say, “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me,” quietly with the lips or mentally, whichever is more convenient; say the prayer slowly and reverently. As much as possible guard the attention of your mind and do not allow any thoughts to enter in.
Over the centuries, this Christian practice developed further with many saints stressing four basic requirements:
1. Concentration on the heart
2. Concentration on the breath
3. Sincere, devotional, emotion
4. Invocation of Jesus Christ
The first three of these are fundamental to what the Institute of HeartMath calls ‘Coherence’. They are also fundamental to the practice of Heart Rhythm Meditation, a simple and powerful Universal meditation taught by Susanna and Puran Bair, founders of The Institute for Applied Meditation on the Heart.
To me, this is a fundamental practice for anyone who is committed to following The Path of the Heart, for the greater your connection with the intelligence, wisdom and guidance of your heart, the closer you’ll be to fully activating your potential in all areas of your life.

The practice of Heart Rhythm Meditation helps you increase the neurological connections between your nervous, endocrine, respiratory and circulatory systems – literally uniting the heart, mind, and body to bring you into a state of radiant peace called Coherence.
Coherence is a fluid state of awareness; a state of inner calm in which you have your full attention on the here and now, and are able to flow with the rhythm of life, in the most relaxed and joyful way.
Some of the many benefits of practicing Heart Rhythm Meditation regularly include…
- You will sleep better.
- You will develop inner strength and courage.
- You will feel more connected to your feelings.
- You will feel more creativity in your life.

wn.com/The Prayer Of The Heart (Jesus Prayer) Guided Meditation With Gabriel Gonsalves

- You may become a more magnetic leader.
- You will find it easier to use your concentration and intuition
