Greenberg is a 2010 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Noah Baumbach. The film stars Ben Stiller, Greta Gerwig, Rhys Ifans and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Greenberg is produced by Focus Features and Scott Rudin Productions, and distributed by Focus Features.
The film's soundtrack features the first film score by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and DFA Records fame.
Roger Greenberg (Ben Stiller) is a forty year old carpenter (and former musician) living in New York. He recently suffered a nervous breakdown, and after deciding to do nothing but relax, he flies out to Los Angeles in order to take care of his brother's dog for a few weeks. While there, he meets his brother's personal assistant Florence Marr (Greta Gerwig), and the two of them struggle with the idea of starting a relationship in this romantic dramedy.
Greenberg garnered generally positive critical reception. Rotten Tomatoes reports that 75% of the critics have given the film positive reviews; the film has been "Certified Fresh." Another review aggregator, Metacritic, assigned the film a weighted average score of 75 out of 100, based on 38 reviews from mainstream critics. The film was given a 3 star rating (out of 4 stars) by Peter Travers of Rolling Stone magazine. Travers writes, "Writer-director Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale) walks the fragile line between humor and heartbreak...Even when you laugh, like in the climactic party scene, it hurts."Roger Ebert gave the film 3 and 1/2 stars (out of four).

How many times does it take to steal the same diamond?
They're out to steal the hottest diamond in town with the funniest schemes in history !
Abe Greenberg: I am sometime so astute, it's remarkable. There are some things people will not do.::Dortmunder: But there's things that get done that you can't do yourself. There's things that happen that you can make happen! Am I right, Chicken?
Dortmunder: It's good, and it's bad. There's a guaranteed return, and that's good. But the guarantor is Amusa, and Amusa's a rookie, and that's bad. But it's an easily transportable object, and that's good. Only it's in a rotten position in the museum, 30 steps to the quickest exit, and that's bad. And the glass over the stone, that's bad too, because that's glass with metal mixed in it, bulletproof, shatterproof. But the locks don't look impossible, 3, maybe 5 tumblers. But there's no alarm system, and that's the worst, because that means no one's going to get lazy watching, knowing the alarm will pick up their mistakes. Which means the whole thing has got to be a diversion job, and that's good and that's bad, because if the diversion's too big, it'll draw pedestrians, and if the diversion's not big enough, it won't draw that watchman.::Kelp: Dortmunder, I don't know where the hell you are, or what the hell you're saying. Just tell me, will you plan the job?::Dortmunder: [pauses, then smiles] It's what I do.
Abe Greenberg: While you're practicing up on your penmanship, you might leave a little time for a refresher course in plastic surgery. I've been tipping people at that bank for years. Everybody knows Abe Greenberg. That key won't get you anything. Even if you forge my name, you'll never forge this amiable countenance.
Dortmunder: Not me. I've got no choice. I'm not superstitious. And I don't believe in jinxes, but that stone's jinxed me and it won't let go. I've been damned near bitten, shot at, peed on and robbed. And worse is gonna happen before it's done. So I'm takin' my stand. I'm going all the way. Either I get it, or it gets me.
Warden: [as he is being released from prison] No matter what institution I'm in, sooner or later I got you inside it. You couldn't, um, really go straight?::Dortmunder: [after a thoughtful pause and an exhale] My heart wouldn't be in it, Frank.
Kelp: [Inquiring about his prison term] So how was it this time?::Dortmunder: Not bad. I learned plumbing.
Dr. Amusa: [On being presented with yet another request for assistance] I've heard of the habitual criminal, of course. But I never dreamed I'd become involved with the habitual CRIME.
[while going to meet Dr. Amusa]::Kelp: Now, listen, I didn't tell the doctor about you being in prison. I figure, why undermine his confidence? He wants the best for his money. Not that you're not the best. But a layman might wonder why you're all the time in jail.
Dr. Amusa: Someday the schoolbooks of my country will sing your praises.::Kelp: I don't think we want this nosed around, do we, Doctor?::Dr. Amusa: I was taking poetic license.
Dr. Amusa: I won't pay a penny more than 25,000 a man.::Dortmunder: I didn't ask for any more.::Dr. Amusa: It comes to a total of exactly $100,000. Four men. If you need five, you'll each take less.::Kelp: What if we can do it with three?::Dr. Amusa: That will still be 25,000. I wouldn't want to encourage greed.::Kelp: There's no greed around here, Doctor. We're all men of goodwill.::Dr. Amusa: If I weren't a man of goodwill, I might think that some of us lied about the prison records of others of us. As it is, I know it was only an oversight.
Plot
In occupied Poland during WWII, a troupe of ham stage actors (led by Joseph Tura and his wife Maria) match wits with the Nazis. A spy has information which would be very damaging to the Polish resistance and they must prevent it's being delivered to the Germans.

Josef Tura: [disguised as Professor Siletsky - speaking about Maria Tura] Her husband is that great, great Polish actor, Josef Tura. You've probably heard of him.::Colonel Ehrhardt: Oh, yes. As a matter of fact I saw him on the stage when I was in Warsaw once before the war.::Josef Tura: Really?::Colonel Ehrhardt: What he did to Shakespeare we are doing now to Poland.
Josef Tura: [disguised as Colonel Ehrhardt] I can't tell you how delighted we are to have you here.::Professor Alexander Siletsky: May I say, my dear Colonel, that it's good to breathe the air of the Gestapo again. You know, you're quite famous in London, Colonel. They call you Concentration Camp Ehrhardt.::Josef Tura: Ha ha. Yes, yes... we do the concentrating and the Poles do the camping.
[repeated line]::Joseph Tura: [disguised as Colonel Ehrhardt] So they call me Concentration Camp Ehrhardt?
Maria Tura: No, no, no. I think we've talked much too much about me. Tell me about yourself.::Lieutenant Stanislav Sobinski: Well, there isn't much to tell. I just fly a bomber.::Maria Tura: Oh, how perfectly thrilling!::Lieutenant Stanislav Sobinski: I don't know about it being thrilling. But it's quite a bomber. You might not believe it, but I can drop three tons of dynamite in two minutes.::Maria Tura: Really?::Lieutenant Stanislav Sobinski: Does that interest you?::Maria Tura: It certainly does.
Colonel Ehrhardt: If you watch the shepherd, you are bound to find the flock.
Greenberg: Mr. Rawitch, what you are I wouldn't eat.::Rawitch: How dare you call me a ham?
Maria Tura: It's becoming ridiculous the way you grab attention. Whenever I start to tell a story, you finish it. If I go on a diet, you lose the weight. If I have a cold, you cough. And if we should ever have a baby, I'm not so sure I'd be the mother.::Josef Tura: I'm satisfied to be the father.
Anna: What a husband doesn't know won't hurt his wife.
Josef Tura: Wait a minute. I'll decide with whom my wife is going to have dinner and whom she's going to kill.::Maria Tura: Don't you realize Poland's at stake?::Lieutenant Stanislav Sobinski: Have you no patriotism?::Josef Tura: Now listen, you... first you walk out on my soliloquy and then you walk into my slippers. And now you question my patriotism. I'm a good Pole and I love my country and I love my slippers.::Maria Tura: Well, I hope your country comes first.::Lieutenant Stanislav Sobinski: So do I.::Maria Tura: This is an emergency! War!::Josef Tura: Look, look, look, I don't know much about the whole thing... but is this Siletsky a real danger to Poland?::Lieutenant Stanislav Sobinski: A catastrophe!::Maria Tura: He must be taken care of!::Josef Tura: Then he will be taken care of.::Maria Tura: Well, who's gonna do it?::Josef Tura: I'm gonna do it.::Lieutenant Stanislav Sobinski: But how?::Maria Tura: Where?::Josef Tura: I'm gonna meet Herr Siletsky at Gestapo headquarters. And after I've killed him I hope you'll be kind enough to tell me what it was all about!
Professor Alexander Siletsky: Shall we drink to a blitzkrieg?::Maria Tura: I prefer a slow encirclement.

Tommy is shot down and the gang escapes. Jimmy severs all connection with the police and becomes the manager of Boyd's night club. Jane is determined to find out who killed Tommy even if it implicates her brother, whom she suspects after finding a clue in his room. She takes Billy to the night club and puts on a song and dance while Billy searches for evidence, which he finds. After putting Captain Duffy and his rookies on the trail of the fur shop loot, Jane and Billy discover that Jimmy had joined the gang under Captain Duffy's order. Boyd has also learned the same and decides to have Jimmy killed.
